- Ranking the BEST Hats, helmets and Headwear in Baldur's Gate 3 on a tier list. There is an absolute ton of different helmets in this game, so I picked only the top ones that are ranked as legendary or very rare to put on this tier list, although I may do one with every single helmet in the future. It was just a lot to talk about. There are some incredible items that can totally advance your build to the next level in BG3, but some are very mehhhh

Just a note on the shapeshifter hat - it works on Halsin regardless of his class. Halsin gets his spells and the bear shapeshift regardless of his class. His spells are always prepared and use spell slots (not once per long/short rest like most innate spells, for example elf/gith racial spells). All of his free spells, especially misty step, are great on a life or light cleric, making Halsin the best cleric in the game. Anyway, his bear form works the same way, he can always use it if he has wild shape charges. Therefore, if you give him the shifter hat, you can have a shapeshifting cleric for whatever reason.
Still doesn't make the had good, but it's a thing not many people know about.
I guess that’s what Halsin gets for being the oldest companion! I never ran a Halsin cleric but now I want to, I just usually roll with Jaheira instead
Wild shape is great extra damage absorption, and the lower armor class attracts more attacks.
I’m not sure how well the scaling would be with 0 levels of Druid but it could be a nice panic button before blood of lathander’s revive
Helmet of arcanr acuity and the hat of fire acuity outclass everything here if you can make use of them
Agreeed. Arcane acuity on a control bard with arrow of many targets and the band of the mystic scoundrel is so powerful
It's very hard to judge some of those items in a vacuum. I'm a huge fan of the grymforge helm for a lot of the game, it's acquired in act 1, makes you no longer suffer crits, and that's HUGE, it just doesn't help you offensive capabilities, and BG3, being 5e based, favours offense.
Also, party comp is a huge part - if you have multiple chars that can use medium + armor suddenly not being the very best still means it's better than all available choices. In my last run I'm playing a Gith, so even if I'm a caster I still require one more medium helmet unless I'm already using something OP for offense. My char used this until I got the Helmet of Arcane Accuity - you should add it to your list BTW, and it's a completely S tier capable of enabling some weirdly powerful CC builds - even if it's an uncommon item.
IMHO it makes it at least A, or "honorary S" until you get the very best ones in really late game. This is a complete "do not skip in any run" item imho, alongside both the heavy and mid chest armors you can craft in Grymforge (3 characters in the party can't suffer crits? Yes please).
The skippable end of act 1 gives some AMAZING gear tbh, both grymforge and Rosamon monastery are full of items people will be sad to have skipped later, and are also really interesting and fun areas.
Just started act 2 and I'm so happy I have the grym helm for my dragonborn war cleric while the girls can fight over the adamantine splint mail sets! But yeah, its utility really depends on the build, I never touched it in my other playthroughs. A helm that negates crits and being able to get it fairly early on (we all wore our finest adamantine to the creche) makes it b tier at least for me.
I'd personally swap Hood of the Weave and Birthright, or put them in the same tier.
Hood of the weave is better for almost every charisma caster, with the exception of Warlock doing pact of the blade shenanigans, and perhaps Paladins who like their auras.
Yeah, I was really wondering why +1 DC and +1 spell attack for only a couple classes was valued SO much higher than +2 DC for anyone.
Yeah I guess hood of the weave could go S tier too, the charisma bonus is pretty crazy though. Its required to get the highest casting stat in the game at 24 charisma which benefits paladin, warlock, bard, sorcerer. a +7 to the draconic sorcerer's elemental affinity is wild on things like scorching ray.
I usually have hood of the weave equipped on Gale tho

All down to personal preference do you want +1 to some stats or 5% extra chance to land your abilities.
@@JasonDunnaBut for scorching ray builds, a +1 to cha is outclassed by the hat of fire acuity for more accuracy on all spells after casting scorching ray. And for all other builds, the +2 to attack rolls increases your attack rolls more than the effective +1 you get from the cha increase. Increasing attack rolls and spell save DC by +2 is equivalent to increasing charisma by +4, since only every 2 points in cha increase the cha modifier
Awww the Druid hate makes me sad. I haven’t done a playthrough with one yet because I’m so new and everyone said it would make the game fairly hard because they’re weak. But reading through everything in the character creator really made me want to try one. I think I’m going to go spore or moon Druid next. It just would be fun. Theme/roleplay builds over DPS builds any day.
Druids are really good! I just think most people don’t like the complexities. Spore Druid is my favorite because having an army of mushroom zombies is a lot of fun, but they get some great crowd control spells! Level 7 woodland being can cast spike growth which is awesome crowd control and you don’t have to hold concentration on it. Their summon also has a wood woad summon so 2 for the price of 1!
In addition they have wild shape as temporary health to fall back on in an emergency. Great crowd control, good damage spells, healing, tankiness, they have it all!
They aren't weak they just can't abuse the super op items that are littered in this game, and a lot of their power comes from summons which are tedious to micro in this game. I beat Honor Mode with Moon Druid as my tav. Favorite class really fun. I'm gonna try to beat honor mode with only 4 Moon Druids soon
You make some really great points about being tedious to micromanage summons. I’m curious how the moon Druid run goes! I love it!!
I used the pyroquickness hat on my tiefling monk that was crossclassed with rogue. I'd stuff her with all sorts of fire scrolls and the hellfire hand crossbow.
I'd have an ally use haste on her before an egagement, then have her use wholness of body for the extra bonus action.
Use the scorching ray from the crossbow as an opener and watch as she punches everything to death in one turn like a damn dbz character.
Bloodlist elixer if you're feeling particulalty obscene.

What about the helmet of arcane acuity? If you are a martial/magic user like sword bard or blade warlock it increases dramatically you spell DC simply by hitting with your weapon. I built my bard around it and mystic scoundrel ring and he was very powerful and fun to play.
Oh easy S tier!! I love it with the band of the mystic scoundrel and arrow of many targets! It works well with a Paladin or cleric too! But bard gets the most use because they can also use great invisibility with the band of the mystic scoundrel

sarevok's horned helmet is an S Tier in my opinion! And the intelligence crown has to be S Tier. Being any class multiclassed into Wizard that doesn't use intelligence? It's a perfect option if your intelligence is 8 on your Necromancer/Spores Druid!
I do not like druids in general, not because of their vibes, but simply because I don't like their gameplay. except spores druid. i love the spores druid
Roleplay Tier should be replaced with drip tier. I wore the Mezerbaronzen Hood till the end game. (even though it's not even good for my build, Shrouded in Shadow! Wow!)
Oh yes Sarevok’s helmet has so many benefits! I should’ve included the intelligence circlet it’s an easy S tier. Any caster can get glove of invulnerability, conjure elemental and 2 other spells. It’s always equipped during my playthroughs one way or another. Works awesome on a eldritch knight too! 3 attacks and wizard spells
Totally understand some people not enjoying Druid but it is a really good class! Moon Druid is the tankiest build in my opinion, land Druid is a great caster / controller with wildshape as a panic button, and spore Druid is an amazing necro! Spore Druid is my favorite too, 11 spore / 1 wizard or 6/6 are my favorites

@@JasonDunna I know, I *want* to like druids more but they've always been not as fun for me...except spore druids, we love spore druids
Also love Hat of the Sharp Caster for Magic Missile build but only for Magic Missile build. Birthright for Charisma based casters and Hood of the Weave for max Spell DC (for builds that are fully focused on Spell DC).
The sharp caster hat is great for scorching ray too, so much fun. And you have to trade Tara some fish to get it making it even funnier
The way marksmanship hat blow some of those rares out of the water when you consider that for an uncommon hat it also adds bonus to spell attack rolls despite it not being revealed in the tooltip. Rarity is an illusion.
Very good point. Sometimes the less rare are much better than some very rare items
Thanks for another great video, Jay! So many great helms especially later in the game but I think you missed one: Steelwatcher Helm in Act 3 (Steel Watch Foundry) Medium armor with "Artificial Sight" - The wearer can see in the dark up to 12m and cannot be blinded. It also has advantage for Con saving throws. Very nice helm since it is only one of four items in bg3 that provide blind immunity (that I know of at least). The other three are the Helldusk Helmet you listed here, The Eversight Ring in Act2 and Shar's Spear of the Evening. The legendary spear is also in Act 2, but requires SH going full Sharran devotee and embracing her darkside;) The spear is awesome though since it also has a Darkness spell you can cast every turn, advantage to saves while obscured (currently not working I heard on Reddit) and +3 to attack rolls. As you can tell I like to use darkness and blind immunity. Having an entire party blind immune is so OP:) PS: A two level dip into Warlock is another way to gain blind immunity (Eldritch Invocation: Devil Sight.)
I love the shar spear! It’s so good honestly. Yeah I only used very rare or legendary helmets so I’ll need to do a full list, there’s just so many it was overwhelming hahaha
Devils sight is seriously so good too, and getting eldritch blast as a back up is nice
@@JasonDunna Yea that one flies under the radar so I thought I would mention it since it's so rare to find blind immunity and it's such a great ability. As for the spear, it's become my biggest gear temptation to go evil.

The shapeshifter hat only grants one extra wildshape charge per long rest, whereas a Druid’s 2 charges refresh on a short rest. So it’s only taking you from 6 to 7 daily charges (or 8 to 9, if you have a bard). Nice to have in reserve but probably hard to justify A tier IMO.
Also, I’d swap hood the weave and birthright, as others have said. For pure spellcasting, the hood is objectively stronger!
@@ProbeAway yeah I can see your reasoning on that! And yeah I underrated the hood of the weave a bit. Both can definitely fit in the S tier
3M of dark vision is melee range. That's all a lot of chars need.

I actually use the shapeshift hat in act 1. Get the shapeshifter ring from the strange ox and you got a free 1d-4 to everything which is especially useful if you already transformed into a Drow to avoid every confrontation with the goblins.

S tier it’s so good. Single level dip in wizard becomes so good for any caster

Horns of the berserker does not help against absolute enemies because most are immune to necrotic damage….. you see where I’m going with this?..

My guy you put birthright in S tier and then specified its only good on sorcerers and bards. What is the real reason you ranked this so low?
I always had issues with the maneuver working properly and yeah +2 intimidation is good but you’ll get a good from charisma too
Charisma helps sorcerer bard Paladin and warlock, it’s pretty good. Wyll’s rapier is another awesome weapon that scales off charisma. The reason the hat is so good is if you want a 24 charisma you need it
Both acuity hats were not mentioned, although they are disgustingly powerful: Helmet of arcane acuity and Hat of fire acuity. Easy top S-tier

I think you can actually get 26 charisma if you level reach 20 charisma before taking the Actor feat, use Aunty Ethel's Hair, the mirror of loss, and Birthright.
Actor goes past 20? That would ke kind of neat although probably not worth blowing Ethel's hair/extra feat for a +1 to attack rolls/spell save dc and skill checks.
Some people commented they got 26 charisma but I’ve tried many times and 24 was the max I could get.
@@kinggamereon653 Yes, actor is the only feat whose stat bonus is not capped. I believe all the other feats use the slider where you have to select which stat to boost (even if there is only one choice) which does not allow you to go beyond 20. If you take Actor before your other boosts bring you to 20 then those won't work though.
You left off the helmet of arcane acuity which is amazing for a sorcadin when paired with band of mystic scoundrel. Raise up your spell dc for hold person then just auto crit everyone whose held
You should flails/morningstars/maces next, not sure if they are considered the same weapon but they are too me

How is Hood of the Weave B tier? It has similar offensive bonuses as Mask of Soul perception (higher chance to land spells over attacks except for spells), but its bonuses are much harder to acquire. All you need for initiative is Alert feat and you guarantee to start first, yet spell save DC is very rarely given. By stacking enough Spells save DC you can guarantee crowd control spells on any boss for the whole duration of the fight. I would put it at S, but I would understand A. Having it one tier above Jannath’s Hat which gives you advantage of persuasion and deception makes 0 sense.

I can’t believe what I did, I got to nightsong and totally forgot to go to moonrise and I did minthara trick as not had her in party yet, 3 hours of gaming wasted 😂 then I went the wrong way which killed rolan so had to start again from an hour before omg 😂😂😂
OH nooo not Minthara AND Rolan hahaha. Sometimes things can go rough, saving often helps if not on honor mode

The helm of the hunt is grate and bis on a ranger u also get it in act 1 so u will use it for 90%of the Game
Circlet of hunting? That’s in act 2 so it might not be what you are referencing
I am begging larian to fix the stun immunity bug with balduran’s helm 😭 I used it on my solo HM and still got stunned by the bhaalists

Why do you think birthright is better than the hood of the weave for sorcerers?

Sure, charisma has RP uses, and you add a little bit more damage on stuff like draconic sorcs, especially builds using scorching ray, but in most cases, the hood of the weave is superior and for more classes than just sorcerers. And for scorching rad builds, both hats are outclassed by the hat of fire acuity anyways
I might lower the wild shape hat to B tier only because it only really benefits one class.
Totally respect that! A wildshape charge adds a lot of extra survivability to a Druid but totally understand not using a Druid

Not having the best helmet in the game (helm of arcane aquity) is crazy.
I know I know it’s a lower rarity so I didn’t add it to the list since there’s so many helmets to sift through. I use that on a lot of my builds though! So good on a control bard

Could you do a sections in video about which item you are talking about? It gonna make more clearly and for me since Im not native english speaker its kinda hard to catch those wacky item names if I wanna look for them in wiki for exmaple. Just my suggestion Great vidoes btw.!
