Best (and very heartbreaking) thing about the swimming scene with Shadowheart is that in the scene after saving her parents, she'll say she feels like she's drowning, to which your character can almost jokingly reply with "good thing I taught you to swim" as if to lighten the mood, but she takes it super seriously and tells you "I don't know what I did to make you think I'm worthy of you, but I'm glad it worked" or something like that. That line alone is enough for me to wanna be always there for her and protect her
@@e-duh3529 that line!! It’s wild how tragic the backstories of these characters are but they also feel very human. The writing for Shadowheart is extremely well done I just wish we got more in her romance
The Lae’zel romance was one that I was not expecting to be, but was, very emotional. She’s a top character for sure. All the origin characters are amazingly written
It took me by surprise as well. She changes so much throughout the game and it’s really fun to see it. The sunrise scene is one of my favorites in the game
One thing I was not expecting is that she will break up with you during the rooftop scene is she went the Vlaakith route (even if you play a githyanki Tav)
Astarion is the one I always romance because I can really relate to him. As someone who has also been a victim of SA and abuse, seeing Astarion heal throughout the story and learn to love is just so amazing to me. He's genuinely one of my favorites because of how complex and deep his character is.
Hey I’m so sorry to hear that. One of the beautiful things about BG3 is how the characters heal and overcome their past traumas. Astarion has one of the most deep character arcs I’ve ever seen in media. Spawn Astarion is a good guy
The reason to sleep with Haarlep is that he is one of the most annoying characters to fight, since he keeps disappearing whenever you hit him and can make your allies fight on his side.
@@magister343 you know what that’s actually a great point. I just like the dialogue you get with Raphael 😂😂 I like the house of hope fights but his is the most annoying
@MCG55SS That's kinda irrelevant to the video ..What's the point of commenting about how much you hate him as a reply to someone who said they love him? Am I supposed to change my mind or something?
Started playing this game for Astarion but fell in love with Gale ❤. The moment I pulled him out of that stone, I was smitten. When I had to choose between them, and I chose Gale, he was so genuinely happy. I also agree that Astarion's character development is amazing. So well done.
@@KimK4866 Gale is my favorite character, there’s so many layers to him and you really see the effect your player has on him. Gale and Astarion are both chaotic and their dynamic is awesome over multiple playthroughs
@@JasonDunna I'm currently doing a Shadowheart origin playthrough; which companion goes best with her? I first thought Astarion but I love Gale so much lol. Or Halsin is also an option, I would like to see his 'monogamous' ending and SH needs a LOT of hugs!
Exactly the consequences of your actions 😂😂 poor Wyll The oathbreaker Paladin is really good tho 🤷🏻♂️ I slightly prefer vengeance for Misty step and hold person but oathbreaker is fun
Never stop making these videos man. We love them and appreciate the effort you put into making them. Baldur’s Gate 3 is probably my favorite game in the last decade next to FF7 Rebirth so I never grow tired of seeing people make videos about the game. Again we appreciate you. Thank you for making these and of course another solid video 🙌🏾
@@dammyoyesanya4656 ayyy glad you enjoy!! I’m also a big fan of Final Fantasy 7 rebirth, currently playing through it! It’s my GOTY so far and I’ve played and beat Dragons Dogma 2, stellar blade, Palworld, Helldivers 2, rise of the ronin. FF7 rebirth is miles ahead Comments like these keep me working hard, thank you so much!
In defence of Halsin as a romance option: this is who you choose when you want to be safe and cared for. He's wise, mature and emotionally stable. Previously traumatized, but (unlike some other companions) already healed. He was initially supposed to be nothing but a fun poly romance option, but there are some perks to being exclusively with him (even though he might break your heart as he decides to leave at the end).
Yeah that’s a good point. He’s the most grounded and stable for sure hahaha I love Halsin but it’s clear he was added later in development, and sadly in act 3 he plays less of a role but still an awesome character
@@JasonDunna both him and Minthara are "bonus partners" - with less content, simpler starting points for romance etc. and they inevitably lack in comparison to others, but without such comparison they're easily A tier. The main purpose of my comment was to constructively disagree with "Halsin is there for a bear scene".
@@AnastasiaAisling yeah that’s true! I slightly preferred Minthara’s as you can start it in act 1 and she still has a lot of unique content into act 3. Halsin is much more than the bear scene! But the reason I put him in the B tier is because it’s mostly localized to act 2 and I wish we got more ol Halsin
@@JasonDunna here's hoping Larian will add more of him (by popular demand if nothing else). Or at least repurpose cut out content - like the datamined scene of his confrontation with Minthara.
Lae'zel was my first and initial favorite, I love the details of her internal struggle that she shares with you in Act 2, which leads to your duel and her confession. But as heartwarming as the sunrise scene is, I felt we peaked far too soon. It was one of the first things to happen for me in Act 3, and that felt like the climax until the epilogue. Also, I felt a bit robbed at that ending cuz I played before the option to join Lae'zel with Orpheus was added haha 😄 Shadowheart is tricky. I like her Selinite romance but she's definitely missing something more like you said. Dark Justiciar Shadowheart is deliciously vile but her romance was rather disappointing. I'd also add that her romance is just put on pause in all of Act 2 until after the Nightsong event, which really bites. Next is Karlach, super sweet and physical. She could carry me anytime lmao, but again I played her romance before the ending of joining her in avernus was added. Without that ending, her romance was the most tragic but with the new ending its rather badass and probably worth going that route now. And Minthara, my personal crush out of the main cast. Beautiful, cunning, pragmatic and cruel. I pick her everytime I play the Evil Dark Urge route and it feels so satisfying, like 2 wronged villains taking over the world 😈 my main gripe is 2 things: you can't recruit her until act 2 and you can't really get to know her and explore your romance until Act 3. I wish we had more to explore with her, but I love how her character develops like a hybrid between Shadowheart and Lae'zel. She's upfront and voices her honest thoughts like Lae'zel, while dropping a few cheeky remarks and comedic lines toward her companions like Shadowheart. And if you keep her as a 12 level Paladin, she's got the powerhouse abilities to be a tank like Karlach. I think my favorite detail for her romance is you can tell she loves being wanted and also taking what's hers, based on the kissing scenes. That one scene where she roughly pulls you toward her is just perfect 🤣 but unfortunately she's not really a character until Act 3. I never dated the guys, I tried but it was too awkward even if it's just a game. Sorry 😅 I'd rank them as Lae'zel being the best, then Karlach with her new ending, then Minthara with Shadowheart as last.
The duel in act 2 is funny and such a Gith thing to have happen. The act 3 sunrise scene has some of the best writing for a romance I have ever seen, but you're right I wish there was more for her in act 3. Yeah I love shadowhbeart but it does feel like shes missing something to make it feel fully complete. Yeah the act 2 section is rough for shadowheart romances since yeah, it just gets a big pause Karlach's new ending is amazing and I am so glad that they added that in!! Yeah I freaking love Minthara because shes so blunt and logical but it comes across hilarious to me. Yeah she does say some cheeky stuff that gives her layers, I personally like that she hypes up origin Gale and thinks he's a beast, whereas normally shes like "ugh stupid wizard' She doesn't get to be a full character until the end of act 2 sitting on Ketheric's throne and then in act 3 Yeah I haven't romanced the dudes either but I watched all the scenes and Gale's are actually really good! He's the most caring towards Tav/Durge and even asks them to marry him in the most dorky Gale way possible
@@JasonDunnayeah they’re definitely a “canon” romance. In the blade of Avernus prologue if you didn’t romance Karlach and didn’t go to Avernus with her but Wyll did it’s heavily hinted that they’re in love.
Wyll was definitely shafted. His romance doesn't measure up to the other romances. He has no arc and never grows at all, which is really sad because he has the most perfect line in the whole game with regard to Raphael and deals with demons. I REALLY wanted his romance to be good, but he's just a toy for Mizora that yelps loudly when she sticks her claws into him, that's it, end of story. We really needed a way for him to triumph over Mizora/Zariel in some BIG way and we didn't get that. Think about it, he gave his soul to protect his city, got banished by his dad, became a tool that was misused countless times (just like Karlach, I might add), gets screwed by the worm, gets screwed by us when he has to comes to terms with the fact that Mizora lied to him, becomes a devil if he doesn't kill Karlach, has to watch his father become infected, has to potentially kill his father for his freedom, I mean this guy has had it bad, and yet he got no chance to hit back and triumph. Every character in the game faces off with their monster so to speak except Wyll who gets bullied and one upped, and has to share a spot at camp with his prison guard. It's BS. Even Halsin gets to right his mistakes and he isn't even a main romance choice. That being said, I only just now romanced him because I realized he didn't really have a lot going for him and it was only through going through the story being Wyll's cheerleader that I realized this poor guy doesn't get his just reward. I haven't quite finished the end yet, so I have not seen his romance epilogue, but it would have to be big to replace the disappointment of his entire route.
Oh I agree strongly with what you said! Wyll deserves so much better. I see a lot of people hating on him in comments and he’s by far the most underrated character. His story is also the most intertwined with the main story !
I'm honestly so in love with Gale's romance route. He's always up front and honest about his feelings for you and as you mentioned, he'd love you as a worm. He even continues to wait for you if go to Avernus instead of Waterdeep, longing for the day you can stay together. Loving Gale honestly has an easy innocence to it with how sweet and traditionally text book it is in many aspects. Gale often comes off as arrogant with his bragging and pettiness but his romance scenes make him so vulnerable and his nerdyness is endearing to me. I agree with your ranking a lot. Great arguments and well constructed :)
Hey thank you so much! Gale is my favorite character in the game, I’m currently doing an origin run as him. He’s confident but you’re so right, in his scene he is vulnerable and it gives him a nice complexity to him. I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
I was just looking for a tier list on this like- the day before it came out and was like damn- Jay doesn’t have one this sucks, perfect timing! Love your videos
Tim Downie’s tragic epilogue was so well acted it actually makes me want to do the tragic romance ending - also sets that poor heartbroken Tav up for a villain arc in my Headcannon.
i always romance astarion but i also have always loved lae'zel 🥺 with every playthrough i was attached to her more and more, and she's never left my party. and recently i decided to give her romance a try and, oh boy, did it not disappoint 😁 i was a screaming mess because of cuteness, from her very first romance scene, she seems somewhat awkward even and it is so adorable, i love her so much 🥺
@@d1zaster__ hahahaha screaming mess is a great way to describe the feeling. She has so much personality for someone who was raised in such rough conditions. Seriously such an amazing character
He’s such a well done villain! Unintentionally comedic The Disney villain song he sings in act 3 is one of the best gaming moments I’ve ever experienced
Lae'zel and Gale are so awesome! I love their romances so so much! My first playthrough I took one look at Shadowheart and went: she's mine. But my second playthrough I sorta came around on some characters! I never romanced anyone but I did have exceptional approval with Astarion! Third playthrough I had a friends with benefits thing with Lae'zel which fit the character I was playing SO WELL. Now that I actually think about it, Gale's not just my favourite character but also my favourite romance as well. It used to be Shadowheart's but...come on! Gale!
Hahaha yeah thats how I thought about shadowheart too and then proceeded to get "Shadowheart disproves" x 1000 hahaha. Gale has the most dynamic romance I think since you can have him ascend, or be a dorky professor in Waterdeep. I think its the most well done romance, and Lae'zel is also extremely well done with the writing. Shadowheart just needs more dialogue / events happen but I really like the swimming scene. Its so funny how you tell her to turn around and shes like no. and then watches your character intensely
@@JasonDunna i love her night orchids interaction! Where you hand her one and she's like: "omg...whyd u do that they're poisonous....just kidding! I lvoe it thank u" AWWW
Haarlep's romance Is kinda fun but is pissing off Raphael worth losing the Helldusk gloves? Yes! lol But seriously, there must be a way to pickpocket or fight him after you get the unique dialogue option.
@@studiodevilry8412 oh yes I didn’t even touch on the opportunity cost of missing the helldusk gloves. That 1d6 fire damage on attacks is seriously too good to lose. Especially on a caster/martial hybrid class
Gale is my favorite as well! It’s hard not to enjoy that dorky wizard. I’m currently doing a Gale origin run and it’s awesome. You get Tara at your camp!
karlach is a very emotional journey, shadowheart and lae'zel are very similar in terms of relationship. They both learn that what they believe in during the journey is actually a lie, and you experience this very intensely throughout the relationship. I haven't had a relationship with other origin characters. (By the way, my favorite is Karlach)
Karlach's scene after fightring Gortash almost brought me to tears its so well done. Yeah you make a good point about Shadowheart and Lae'zel they are very much alike despite absolutely hating each other hahaha. I think Lae'zel has more character growth but Shadwoheart is my personal favorite
Karlach's relationship is a heart-punch. Never been actually emotional for a videogame character but Mama K forced her way into being a massive soft-spot for me. A rollercoaster I gladly sign up to ride every time.
Lae'zel is Bae'zel❤ I love her, yes she starts off as rude which can lead player NOT to romance her. But when you do romance her, she just opens to you and becomes such a great character.
I did the Gith Disney Princess playtrhough and the only romance option was Wyll. I found out his romance is very finocy if you do things in the wrong order (I did the dragon very early). Also My second playtrhough the Emperor pissed me off enough that I I went ahead an played a Red Dragonbourn Tiamat Cleric who romanced Laezel just to go anti-Mindflayer and I kind of really got into Gith lore in my first playthrough to the point where yeah my bard named Rusty Shakelford romanced Shadowheart but when Laezel was kidnapped it cleared a lot of decisions up for me.
@@jthompson7175 “the Gith Disney Princess playthrough” made me lol Yeah Lae’zel getting kidnapped by Orin made the decision for you it seems hahaha. If you have her in the party all the time I don’t think it happens
@@JasonDunna Yeah that was a themed playthrough where I played a gith bard who pretty much got a lot of her information about other societies from reading fairy tales. Kind of seemed like it fit. But she obviously went after Wyll. Saw Lae'Zel as a big sister and kkind of worked out that Lae'Zel was kidnalpped that playthrough... but apprently Wyll's roamance is very bugged if you don't convence him to sell his soul... and if you're romancing him I kind of don't see why if you're doing a good playthrough you wouldn't just get him to free himself and try to find a loophole. Was the playthrough where I found out how powerful Swords Bards are after nuking Aunti Ethel before she could get through the door in the fireplace. Also I still need to do an all Bard Playthrough where my Tav is Ronnie James Dio. Or a Wild Zero Playthrough where I'm either Ace or Guitar Wolf. Not sure what way I'd want to go with that. Wild Zero is an amazing movie... never play the drinking game on the DVD.
@@JasonDunna Also went Bard because I figured song numbers were mandatory and Speak with Animals allowed her to talk to every animal she could. Just ran with the theme. but pictured her as a Gith warrior who got all of her knowledge of other societies from fairy tales she read. Kind of a fun concept. I also went with a lot of gear out of looks. Never upgraded her from Yuan-Ti scale male.
I’m trying to make my way through every romance in the game. So far I’ve gotten to Astarion (not ascended), Karlach, and Halsin. Astarion is my personal favorite, his character is so well written and interesting, and I love the scenes you get with him throughout the story. Karlach is second, I also love her character she’s the biggest sweetheart, Halsin is in last place for me at the moment mainly because he lacks content compared to the other options. Minthara is next on my list of characters to romance.
Astarion is awesome, as long as you don’t ascend him, where he basically treats your character as a pet it’s so sad. Yeah I am not a hugeee fan of Halsin but Minthara is pretty fun
@@amberh709 I won’t lie I’m tempted to try romancing him when he ascends maybe during an evil play through. But spawn Astarion is perfect and such a lovely romance, so I’ll most likely be disappointed if/when I try.
Oh yeah she has an incredible amount of depth! Its worth doing her romance multiple times to get to see how well her character arc is both evil and good. PS I love Genshin Impact! Currently playing ZZZ
@@JasonDunna you're correcting him then saying that it would take a "thinker" to look any deeper into her character so, in my understanding, you were putting both him down and yourself on a pedestal for being a "thinker" I'm still curious what depth you were talking about, I'm not calling her one-dimensional but she seemed like to have had a pretty simple arc
Rewatching this video, i just remembered my Dark Urge play through. She was a High elf, Archfey Warlock/ Wild magic sorcerer. I had a lot of fun, discovering Astarion and his sadistic streaks in the beginning. Like when you take part in the Loviatar ritual he gets really excited like „Don’t you dare say No“. Even more funny if you let him and Shadowheart watch together, very funny banter between them both. But he also often approves chaotic decisions and funny reactions. My Dark Urge did not let him ascend and was rewarded with a more kind and caring Astarion. She rejected Bhaal herself and that felt even more rewarding. Better life for both of them. ❤ When he said in the grave date scene he loves her, i was like “Wow, i think i just broke Astarion,” :D So, even i as a 90 % Galemancer can say, Astarion is one of the best romance choices for the Dark Urge ;)
Great points! Shadowheart and Astarion are hilarious together at the ritual you’re so right hahaha. I like the idea of spawn Astarion with redeemed Dark urge, that’s a perfect pairing.
Haarlep is also great if you're romancing Astarion, because he's so empathetic and hates to see that your character is under someone else's control. It was a cool moment in the game.
Saying “No” to Karlach is so difficult! She just straight up shows up by your bedroll and tells you how she feels. Lae’zel does almost the same, but she’s also clear that she’s looking for fun (at first). The rest of the companions will make a play eventually as well of course, other than Shadowheart who stays quiet unless you initiate, but Karlach and Lae’zel are the two that are just flat out about what they want in act one. Halsin is believable, but the whole “you were coming on to me” thing just annoys me.
11:25 S for Shadowheart simply cause playing the masculine warrior and save the pretty elf princess from being abused and liver happily ever after with her is just peak journey something that speaks to us on a fundamental level. And there's a reason this story is popular across centuries and across cultures.
@@JasonDunna Here to the high production of animations and the voice acting make it better. I played recently pathfinder wrath and most of the times is just words on a screen that not even voiced. But here last time the level of immersion of romance was so high was in dragon age origins. The camp scenes, the high stakes, the epic journey, the final battle and epiloge.
I did the same thing my first playthrough!! I was afraid of the parasite hahaha. This game can be replayed many times as there’s so much that changes, highly recommend it
@@JasonDunna Yeah, this is one of my better runs, but I spent so much time with Lae'Zel, even made a Githyanki monk for her, but it was all for naught! My next run is going to be an evil one, ascending all who stick around after I kill the grove.
I agree with your ranking so far. Funnily enough, the thing about Gale‘s endings is that the best is actually not the best ending. At least i think so and i have romanced that man a few times. ;) The hottest romance scenes, is actually not real. Yes, you heard me, if you listen to Gale in that scene, to me it seems like that is just an illusion. So yes, we don’t really sleep with our charming nerd. The other option is to say you want real Gale, but that one fades to black. Becoming a god? For me as a woman, it feels like he just wants to become a god, because he thinks he isn’t good enough for anyone. Not the best either. If you again listen to him, you learn things about what he really likes and wants. The love test at the circus is not a joke. What food would he be: an apple, as wholesome as can be. His favorite place: his balcony in Waterdeep. His greatest flaw: To think the world would be better off without him. Hence why i can’t shake voice actor Tim Downy’s take on Gale and Goodhood. He said, after a while Gale would regret it, everyone is just arrogant and power hungry. He would just want to go back and teach magic. But hang on! You still can get one of the most wholesome and happy endings with the sweet human Gale version. My character talked him out of becoming a god and chased him down the path of forgiveness with Mystra. ^^ Guess what happened? He didn’t go back to her. He married my cute elf girl instead ❤ 😊
Hey amazing point on how he chases godhood because he thinks he isn’t good enough for anyone. He’s got a tragic story but he puts on a (often dorky) mask to hide his pain. I like how happy is he is when asks Tav/Durge to marry them and take them back to waterdeep to show his mom and cat 😂 I love Gale because he’s an extremely complex character. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on everyone’s favorite nerdy wizard
@@JasonDunna Tara is nit just a cat, she’s a Tressym . :D But i get your point, Gale’s way to make that proposal, having us meet his mom and live with Tara sounds to me like he’s healing from the trauma he got from the relationship with Mystra. So yeah, our Tavs and DUs need to convince him, that it’s better to date someone who is mortal with him ;) He’s very quirky and a complex personality indeed. You can’t tell him, the Karsus crown is an abomination and then tell him to use it. That man is smart. Don’t try this at home, it may grant you a break up in the end game if you fool him. ^^ Thanks for being open to this. I really think, alongside Selunite Shadowheart, you can have one of the sweetest and most wholesome endings with Gale ❤️
It’s funny cause I’m watching the video rn, I’m playing a wild magic sorcerer and initially I was gonna romance Gale cause I just love the idea of the whole Sorc Vs Wizard thing but then I swapped to Karlach after act 1 cause she’s genuinely my favorite character in bg3 and I had a run, that I’m still playing through cause I love replaying this game even though I’m on 3 runs atm, that was my first time not romancing Karlach and it just made me so sad so I decided to flip. But it’s funny cause I’m at the gale part and I’m like you know it might be the move to play gale or Karlach and have those two get together- and then you said the whole thing about them actually working together pretty well lol
The Sorcerer vs wizard idea is cool, Gale is so funny when it comes to that. It’s hard not to go with Karlach she really deserves the best! Karlach with Gale to cure her, or Wyll in Avernus are the two best endings for her I think!
I romanced Karlach on my Gale origin run. It glitched up the ending somehow. I could either go with her to Avernus and lose the chance at becoming a god, or let her die. So I went with her. Now I have to do another Gale origin run if I want to see that particular ending.
Wyll deserved better from developers - but this game is remarkable! Just wish we could have romanced more, especially in Act II and anytime you want mid Act III
My firsy playtrough i didn't romance anyone, but to be fair i only had shadow, lazel and astarion. My character wasn't really interested in any of them( and neither was i) and was mostly focused on, getting the worm out of the head. On the epilogue astarion told me to fuck of cause i didn't let him adcend so he just left the party. Lazel wasn't happy that i killed Orpheus so she foughht by my side to defeat the brain and once the battle was done she basically said she was disappointed with me and told me to fuck of. And shadowheart she was fine with me, but was busy searching for her parents
Hahahah I did a no romance run my first playthrough too! I played at launch and didn’t want to google anything so I thought getting the parasite out was the most important thing. I did reunite Shadowheart with her parents though! Astarion became a good guy in mine oddly and wasn’t upset he didn’t ascend. It’s cool how it can be so different for everyone. Also since I was single Jaheira made my character a Harper
I’m a Halsin stan, but B tier is fair. I really like him as a character, but I didn’t know he was polyamorous and when I found out, that kinda ruined it for me. 😅
If you turn into mind flayer shadow heart and minthara okay with it they don't break up with you shadow heart if her parent alive she tells us give her time explain our situation to her parent if they not alive she stays with you and minthara accept you as her consort
This one is 100% subjective. Also, I only tested the female options, but to my surprise Lae'zel is the one I liked more. She evolves during the playthrough and by the end she is a trusting and sweet partner. I feel Shadowheart "split" by the end of her chain created a less developed "selunite" SH partner. She even accepts.cheating, and that is really off the mark to me, because the expectation of loyalty would make a lot more sense considering she now remembers her parents who (probably) died together to protect her. All in all I feel this is by far the weakest aspect of the game. I really dislike player-sexual NPCs because this take from their personalities, I much prefer NPCs with preferences even if it means I cannot romance my favorite - like Judy in CP2077.
Lae’zel is actually an incredible romance. The way she changes is intriguing but she is probably the only Gith to ever love a non Gith. The scene you get watching the sunrise is incredible. Yeah Shadowheart is okay with you bonking at the sharess caress / harleep which I agree is a bit weird if you have Selunite Shadowheart
Yeah I did my first playthrough without romance because I played at launch and didn’t realize how deep it went in this game! Cyberpunk is an awesome game and I also didn’t get too deep into the romance in it. I’m playing it again right now to do the DLC and I’m sad female V can’t romance Panam, and Judy like you said
@@Tentacl OH WHAT. okay I gotta play more hahaha its my first time rolling a female V and I actually like the voice lines more Thanks for that, now I know my romance choice haha
Shadowheart does not remember anything about her parents going the Selenite route. Shar still keeps much of Shadowheart 's memories locked away and only released memories that would make Shadowheart feel like shit such as torturing her own parents. Reason Shadowheart doesn't mind you sleeping around because she spent 40 years in the Sharran Cult having orgies that would put the brothel to shame based on her response to Mizora, how she reacts to other sexual encounters throughout the game. She points out that she may no longer be a Sharran but all of her experiences as Shadowheart is as much a part of her as Jen. In Act 1, Wyll {or it might have been Astarion} asks if everyone has a lover back at Baldur's Gate. Shadowheart straight up states having a pining lover is stupid and it's much better to have cheap easy thrills/flings. Our characters are probably her first actual deep connection on the emotional side but when it comes to sex, she can be detached similar to Astarion due (who also doesn't mind the open relationship) to the whole 40 years of cult nonsense. If you ask her if she wants to jump the twin Drow at Sharess Caress, she is immediately down and directly states when it comes to just sex, she doesn't care about sharing if you don't.
You are vanille. Hahaha. I have only seen ascended astarion clips, but he is hot in it. It doesn't have to be deep and can also be fun. 💁♀️ Of course, if you meant this video about creating the best relationships, I guess I agree with your picks.
Hahaha I’m definitely not vanille! My issue with ascended Astarion is that he stops caring about the player character and pretty much just considers them a pet. The scenes are steamy yeah but he just views them as below him and insults them if you peer into his mind. Spawn Astarion is better
Halsin isn't 50, more like 500, him being a pureblood wood elf 😅 Speaking of Jaheira - my wife has her personality (at least from BG2). Like 99% match. And it's brutal, since I'm no Khalid (more like an asshole akin to Anomen/Edwin) - sparks fly all the time...
Shadowheart is my fave. Just love goth girls. Laezel is definitely in second place, love culture shock warrior types. And being the most alien race they done a great job at making her alien but attractive. Gale is good for soppy romances, its the one im doing in my current run. Never tried wyll, cant get past how boring he is. Preferred early access wyll. Karlach is good but i havent done it myself yet. Astarion is just great no matter what. Love a catty bitch. The rest are all fun, no notes
@@craigbolton2231 it’s hard to go wrong with Shadowheart! And laezel’s is surprisingly really really good. The way you described Astarion is hilarious hahaha
Shadowheart is also great as even if you break her heart, she still loves you, wich broke my heart and as I had not enough saves to undo this error (I betrayed her with Minthara) I fck started new xD
@@Mystra I’m like Gale, but without the charm, humour, or netherese orb Yeah good point, this one is very subjective! I’m currently romancing Minthara in my playthrough
You put Jaehaira - who should properly be dead depending on how long it actually is between games (and Viconia should DEFINITELY be dead in the lore based on Baldur's Gate 2's ending slides for her) into S tier even though you can't romance her; in a romance tier list dude. Also, she does the same thing with Abdel, it just takes her longer to get that direct. It's like "Hey, my husband bit it; wanna bone, Daddy?" Most jarring thing about her character frankly. * I never got past BG 1 - Did try the dlc to lead to BG2 and didn't get far. Didn't actually get to play BG2 before I ragequit and broke the disk that Beamdog put out, but I know the lore = Dark Urge literally SHOULD NOT be in the game at all. It counters the ritual prerequisite to bring Bhall back in the first place, as the bhallspawn ALL needed to die to put Daddy Not So Dearest back on the right side of the ground. He is canonically stated to be back at Abdel's death, so Orin (if she is what I think) and the Dark Urge are just Larian's tacked on bulllshit to try to make the game more legitimately titled, completely ignoring CANONIZED D&D lore. The series ENDED with BG2. End of.
Halsin's scene plays out differently depending on how you feel about the bear. It's not as spicy as Minthara's is though. But Minthara's requires mass murder at this point in time. But Halsin is one of only character you can get in a 5 way with the Drow Twins.
Yeah I corrected myself on that, he becomes ambitious, not so much evil. He is naturally a good aligned character but his own thirst for power is his achilles heel at times. I like how well all endings for Gale are done
Lae'zel reminds me allot of Jack from Mass Effect 2. Starts out as an angry woman but over time begins to cool down and open up to you as the player character. Even something like Miranda who also starts out as being something of a snobish bitch to the player then to open up by the end of the game.
Yeah great comparison to Jack and Miranda being standoffish to the character but changing over the course of the game. Lae’zel is a really well wrote character I think she is the best version of that trope
I almost threw up when the emperor showed up shirtless next to me. Its yhe only reason i freed orpheus and had Yurgir stab him and go invisible over and over again. He sucks. Mind flayers dont even have reproductive organs, you just kinda rub against him or something i guess i dont even need to think about that.
Yeah that’s implied! I’m not forcing you to like any one of these more than the other, but rather give my thoughts and start discussion in the comments!
@@JasonDunna i thought the list is kinda nice though…. And the greatest thing about the game is tons of tons of free content continue to seep into it even after launched for so long i almost thought this is a live service game
It’s hard when Gale, Astarion, Shadowheart and Karlach are so full of energy and character. Like Wyll is a good character by most standards, but BG3 is a 10/10 in every metric
Hey, first playthrough Wyll romancer here, I agree. And it's not even the fact that he's vanilla good guy. I actually chose him for my Tav because he felt like the right romance for the type of character my bard is. The problem is - lack of romance content and overall choice/outcomes in Wyll related story bits. Like, Shadowheart can become Dark Justiciar; Astarion can Ascend; Gale may become God; Karlach may chose to die at the end because she refuses to come back to hells; Lae'zel can be consumed(?) by Vlaakith and so on. But Wyll can become... Duke? Be killed if we won't save Mizora? Stay Warlock? Well damn, boy, what a terrible life. Or lack of one.
Misora doesn't offer anything good?!? She is the funniest, sexiest and dirtiest romanceable character, plus offers you literally the sex of a lifetime with your chosen flavor. Additionally her "redemption" arch, if you chose to save her, is also quite well written. She becomes a valuable ally fighting alongside you and trying to save Baldur's Gate. Sorry, but putting her in the lowest tier is ridiculous - I stopped watching the video right there.
Karlach as a character is fun. Nothing against her but romancing her is......sweet to some point but then you see what happens once you get to Baldur's Gate city. I mean the sex scene which made me feel emasculated and that just instantly drops it for the lowest desired romance ever since. I just dont romance her. I either kill her or dont romance her. Lae'zel would be the one you would think would emasculate you but no, she is one of the most healthy ones. Minthara is sweet but she does not let that to get to her head and is as well adjusted as someone raised in assassinations, intrigue and abused by the Absolute. Shadowheart is just perfect. Classic romance. Her being abused and brainwashed does not affect her capability to show her soft side and love you. I do not know how to romance Mizora. Have not figured that out yet but those legs, man. Those legs and hips. Idk about the boys. I just dont play female characters. Does not sit right with me.
Even thinking about putting Shadowheart in A-Tier is a crime :O ... On a serious note though - I love that woman for so many reasons. The "I am the darkness"-mood while being a little fluffball with animals - I like the inner goodness that comes through even when she is still sharan. The entire tragedy and plottwist of her life - I think she is written VERY well. (Not to mention I like the sassyness at times, it's awesome) I think Larian wrote all the main character in an absolutely fantastic manner. I have rarely seen such great character work in all those years of playing games. It really is a masterpiece of a game and I am glad I gave it a try even though I dislike turn-based games. :) It was a real game changer.
Shadowheart is so fantastically wrote, with both the evil and good storylines being well done. They did a good job with all the characters but Shadowheart is so great for many reasons! Thanks for the comment!
You can romance Raphael, how? BTW At least in early access all companions were kind of good/evil. Wyll needs no convincing to abandon his dad and became next duke. Gale was good character but was ok to steal the Idol of Sylvanas for his hunger need, Shadowheart was really bitch in the beginning and it suited her so well. I don't get why they changed and soften all these characters personalities after early access.
The Nymph at Sharess' Caress does give you the condition Rapture. Which if I remember right gives 1D6 to all checks and even to your attacks. Sadly, it only lasts for one day and I don't think you can renew the condition similar to the spores you get if you help Spaw.
Origin Karlach has a special relationship with Minthara. Just do not go the evil route as you can't romance anyone as Karlach if you do. Maybe they will give Minthara a romance scene in Act 3 sometime in the future.
@@JasonDunna It gets pretty emotional towards the end. If you choose to not go to Avernus when she is trying to convince Karlach to go to Avernus so she will live she will cry. As far as I know that is the only point that any character can make Minthara cry.
These are the best Legendary Weapons in Baldur's Gate 3!

Oh my heart…

He’s the most grounded and stable for sure hahaha
I love Halsin but it’s clear he was added later in development, and sadly in act 3 he plays less of a role but still an awesome character
Hoping for more!! But who knows what modders will do too
There was a whole cut subplot about Minthara getting pregnant too
Lae'zel was my first and initial favorite, I love the details of her internal struggle that she shares with you in Act 2, which leads to your duel and her confession. But as heartwarming as the sunrise scene is, I felt we peaked far too soon. It was one of the first things to happen for me in Act 3, and that felt like the climax until the epilogue. Also, I felt a bit robbed at that ending cuz I played before the option to join Lae'zel with Orpheus was added haha 😄
Shadowheart is tricky.
Sorry 😅
I'd rank them as Lae'zel being the best, then Karlach with her new ending, then Minthara with Shadowheart as last.
Yeah the act 2 section is rough for shadowheart romances since yeah, it just gets a big pause
Karlach's new ending is amazing and I am so glad that they added that in!!
Yeah I freaking love Minthara because shes so blunt and logical but it comes across hilarious to me. Yeah she does say some cheeky stuff that gives her layers, I personally like that she hypes up origin Gale and thinks he's a beast, whereas normally shes like "ugh stupid wizard' She doesn't get to be a full character until the end of act 2 sitting on Ketheric's throne and then in act 3
Yeah I haven't romanced the dudes either but I watched all the scenes and Gale's are actually really good! He's the most caring towards Tav/Durge and even asks them to marry him in the most dorky Gale way possible
Wyll is underrated. The ending where you can not only stay and rebuild the city but can govern there with him
Yeah that’s true, he also has a great romance with Karlach! I think theirs is the canon end to BG3 (at least in my head)
Yeah, you just gotta wonder who runs Baldgurs Gate after that.@@JasonDunna
@@JasonDunnayeah they’re definitely a “canon” romance. In the blade of Avernus prologue if you didn’t romance Karlach and didn’t go to Avernus with her but Wyll did it’s heavily hinted that they’re in love.
Lae'zel needs a Z-tier above everyone else, because once you've been Zhak Vo'nash Duj, going with anyone else is extremely difficult.
Totally fair hahahah
Yikes 😂
Didn’t Wyll’s development get screwed over by being fleshed out way too late plus having to be re-casted?

@@jthompson7175 “the Gith Disney Princess playthrough” made me lol

When he said in the grave date scene he loves her, i was like “Wow, i think i just broke Astarion,” :D
So, even i as a 90 % Galemancer can say, Astarion is one of the best romance choices for the Dark Urge ;)
Oh wow that is interesting, thanks for sharing that!

Agreeeeed. She has a very deep and complex story too so its perfect
This. Exactly this.
@@JasonDunna
Here to the high production of animations and the voice acting make it better. I played recently pathfinder wrath and most of the times is just words on a screen that not even voiced. But here last time the level of immersion of romance was so high was in dragon age origins. The camp scenes, the high stakes, the epic journey, the final battle and epiloge.
I waa very conservative with my long rests and i just straight up ruined my romance with Lae'Zel, knowing how indepth it gets im piiiissed.
Guess what happened? He didn’t go back to her. He married my cute elf girl instead ❤ 😊
Hey amazing point on how he chases godhood because he thinks he isn’t good enough for anyone. He’s got a tragic story but he puts on a (often dorky) mask to hide his pain.
I like how happy is he is when asks Tav/Durge to marry them and take them back to waterdeep to show his mom and cat 😂
I love Gale because he’s an extremely complex character. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on everyone’s favorite nerdy wizard
@@JasonDunna Tara is nit just a cat, she’s a Tressym . :D
But i get your point, Gale’s way to make that proposal, having us meet his mom and live with Tara sounds to me like he’s healing from the trauma he got from the relationship with Mystra. So yeah, our Tavs and DUs need to convince him, that it’s better to date someone who is mortal with him ;)
He’s very quirky and a complex personality indeed. You can’t tell him, the Karsus crown is an abomination and then tell him to use it. That man is smart. Don’t try this at home, it may grant you a break up in the end game if you fool him. ^^
Thanks for being open to this. I really think, alongside Selunite Shadowheart, you can have one of the sweetest and most wholesome endings with Gale ❤️
I have just started an evil durge playthrough. I ripped gale's hand off.
Hahaha bye bye Gale
I liked this video simply because Lae'Zel IS an S-Tier romance 🥰
@@jackinthebox1993 she really is. I wasn’t the biggest Lae’zel fan at first but her character development during her romance is crazy. 10/10 writing

Hahahaha it’s a fair comparison right??
I romanced Karlach on my Gale origin run. It glitched up the ending somehow. I could either go with her to Avernus and lose the chance at becoming a god, or let her die. So I went with her. Now I have to do another Gale origin run if I want to see that particular ending.
@@travishartzler9155 ahhhh that’s too bad. Did you ascend as Gale? Gale’s origin run is really great but that sucks you missed out on that ending

@@JasonDunna it's one of the best thing with this game.
Agreed! Literally endless replayability
I love Wyll, romanced him with a Drow Matron Mother and fell head over heels!
Wyll is awesome, most underrated origin
Wyll deserved better from developers - but this game is remarkable! Just wish we could have romanced more, especially in Act II and anytime you want mid Act III
They added more to Wyll’s romance with the latest patch!
Yeah I can totally get that! He was added somewhat late in development and it shows compared to the others
I just gotta know how Orin got minthara pregnant and jahira romancing a bhal spawn there is much research to be done
I think the Minthara plot was going to involve Bhaal! I am curious too though
If you turn into mind flayer shadow heart and minthara okay with it they don't break up with you shadow heart if her parent alive she tells us give her time explain our situation to her parent if they not alive she stays with you and minthara accept you as her consort
That’s a good point yeah! Gale doesn’t change whatsoever when you’re a squiddy which is nice
Shadowheart for me ever since my first tav im like yup she's the one, i always try other companions but then i just see Shadowheart
That’s how I feel, she’s so goofy in act 3 it’s hard not to like her
You could try doing what I do and create multiple custom characters simultaneously, each one meant for romancing a different origin character.
Well written
Thank you, glad you enjoyed!
@@JasonDunna thanks for making free content. Have a good one. It’s not well wrote though.
I would never romance Raphael because I enjoy the rivalry with him too much.
@@jthompson7175 totally fair!! The back and forth with him is always good
This one is 100% subjective.
I’m playing it again right now to do the DLC and I’m sad female V can’t romance Panam, and Judy like you said
@@JasonDunna female V can romance Judy, she is 100% lesbian. Panam is straight tough.
@@Tentacl OH WHAT. okay I gotta play more hahaha its my first time rolling a female V and I actually like the voice lines more
Thanks for that, now I know my romance choice haha

Hahaha I’m definitely not vanille! My issue with ascended Astarion is that he stops caring about the player character and pretty much just considers them a pet. The scenes are steamy yeah but he just views them as below him and insults them if you peer into his mind. Spawn Astarion is better
Minthara is top for me, S-tier

i'd rank a romance with you S tier :P
End of.
Why should she be dead? Half Elves can get pretty old.

Hahahaha yea Minthara’s comes at a cost. Halsin is the man tho
Why do people think God Gale is evil? He's a little full of himself but he doesn't say or imply anything bad

We can disagree! I just hate doing Wyll like that after he already suffered so much saving the city

I have been playing it a bit on PS5 but I need to get it on PC
Even thinking about putting Shadowheart in A-Tier is a crime :O ...
On a serious note though - I love that woman for so many reasons. The "I am the darkness"-mood while being a little fluffball with animals - I like the inner goodness that comes through even when she is still sharan. The entire tragedy and plottwist of her life - I think she is written VERY well. (Not to mention I like the sassyness at times, it's awesome)
I think Larian wrote all the main character in an absolutely fantastic manner.
Raphael was in this list for some reason. But yeah good points they changed a lot from early access
