I love the Fists. That yellow armour is just so striking and I love their stubborn attitude on the field. Yellow has however always been a terror to paint. That Imperial Fist Contrast is looking like a real game changer for yellow.
Very similar to Richard Gray's tutorial (which I did for mine), but he doesn't go back in with Snakebite leather, for example, and brushes the highlights. I wish I saw this afore - I might prefer this! Looks fantastic.
The bright yellow of the IFs really makes them stand out as a potential future legion to me, especially how they contrast vs my white and green Death Guard (along with IW, UMs, TS and AL - though my first effort at AL didn't endear me to them...). That said I really like the mostly black scheme for them I've seen with yellow pauldrons and plates - would love to see you tackle that scheme.
Thanks Henry!! Love these tutorials. What I don’t like about yellow recipes over brown is the shadows always appears green to me. Just one of those things that sticks in my brain and that is all I see! I am such a critical jack a$$! Don’t really like orange shadows either! Someday I will figure it out lol. Thanks again, I get so much from yours and Andy’s videos!!
Can we possibly see a series of videos on painting the new Angron model when it comes out in the new year - would be nice to see everyones take on different aspects like wings vs skins vs armor
Your House Caesarean scheme using the dunkelgelb base has been my go-to for yellow armour this year. And while I still prefer those more muted tones for my Lamenters force, this saturated citrus palette is perfect for Imperial Fists and a great way to differentiate yellow marines at a glance. Great stuff, and always a treat to watch.
Awesome video ! I'm really in love with your style of painting ! I have a small question, I am a beginner with airbrush, what size of needle do you use for zenithal and layering like in this video ? Thanks !
I love your airbrushing videos, but is there any chance you can make a video about how you airbrush? Ie how you use the trigger, spray movements, etc? I've been struggling using thinner paints and getting similar results.
I'd love to see a knights errant painting tutorial at some point (the 30k knights errant, not 40k). Think on the Garro cover art there were some knights errant in mkvi.
8:16 I can’t stand the Mark vi and I feel bad for hating. Can someone explain why I’m wrong? What is it about Mk vi that you all love that I’m not seeing? I hate sounding like a hater.
Nah I get you. There’s a lot of nostalgia involved I think. The reason I like the kit so much is just the proportions and quality of the build. I’d prefer it in pretty much any other mark.
model quality and advancements in plastic kits. i would much rather almost any other mark as well. but i will say they are pretty ncie with different helmets.
Nice video Henry! Imperial fists were never my jam, but this scheme does it for me. Is it cool if I double check what the highlight colour was? The video says layer paint bad moons yellow, but unless I'm being silly that's a contrast paint. Is that the one you used? Keep up the good work
You don't need Tamiya thinners with Tamiya paint, I almost exclusively use Mr. Color leveling thinner. You can use lacquer thinner or isopropyl alcohol. What he means is don't just use water, even though Tamiya X20A thinner is something like 70% water.
Could you scale that up? Would love to see an Imperial Knights in either House Hawkshroud or House Coldshroud colours (which are pretty similar to imperial fists)
Is anyone else having trouble with this scheme? after my basecoat of Thondia and apply Imperial fists the colour just doesn't look anywhere near similar. I know lighting makes a difference, but it's so off.
@@cultofpaint Yeah I'm using tamiya white; leaving a gradient; but my yellow doesnt match the cold colour and after a second coat, anywhere the IF contrast touches thondia it goes an olive colour.
Loved the tutorial and the exact details on what you did (e.g. "25 psi" ) makes it easy to follow and try. Would you still apply that brown pre shade for a World Eaters model? I really wanna try your technique out for the new World Eaters!
The brown I used here would make very little difference on a red scheme as it’s pretty close to black. I’ll deffo be doing some of the new world eaters though.
Henry's dog cameos spark joy

All the contrast yellows are great.
Great Tutorial! I am always so self conscious about noise while I'm doing voice overs... But you have made it work with hilarious effect!
Amazing video. A series on Rogal Dorn from you would be ace, Henry!
Very similar to Richard Gray's tutorial (which I did for mine), but he doesn't go back in with Snakebite leather, for example, and brushes the highlights. I wish I saw this afore - I might prefer this! Looks fantastic.
I adore this scheme and will be attempting my own version soon. I keep watching this over and over contemplating it.

Great work on it personally can't wait for the new Night Lords video I'm sure coming up
Some 40k nightlords are long overdue
Pupper cameo! Best video :D
It's incredible. I'm reminded of the quality I saw from you guys at one of your painting classes years ago
That’s really nice to hear, thankyou

Looks great! Very excited to see if you show your own take on the new World Eater models :)
I'm hoping so too!
Can we possibly see a series of videos on painting the new Angron model when it comes out in the new year - would be nice to see everyones take on different aspects like wings vs skins vs armor
I’ll see what we can do.
Another brilliant vid. Thank you. I would love to see a new Emperors Children with the new purple contrast paint. If you are look for ideas. 😄
Between mine and Ben’s I think we got EC covered. For a while….
That looks fantastic! Beautiful work and excellent tutorial
Nicely done! At first I thought the yellow might turn out a bit too green but it looked great at the end. Would love to see you paint Dorn
Me too.
Now that is a beautiful Fister
Amazing comparison at the end there. Really stark when you see the two together. Reckon you'll do alternate/updated schemes for all the Legions?
Alternate for sure.
Fantastic work! I'd love to see how you'd paint Dorn.
I’ll get him prepped
As always amazing tutorial Henry.
Thanks Bjorn
Lovely. Yes, please document the character model in video. Cheers.
Will do!

Thanks. I really must finish those knights!
Would love to see your take on Luna Wolves!
Good idea!
Henry for President 🎉
Would love to see the way you paint a character model.
Sounds like a plan
Lovely work as always
Looks amazing

Great to hear! I use a 0.4mm for everything.
@@cultofpaint Thank you a lot I appreciate !
If you use Tamiyas laquer thinner in the acrylic paints that makes all transitions much smoother
Don’t like working with the lacquer thinner.
My imperial fist army is done with your last tutorial, would love to see a video on doing Dorn. i havent started mine yet :D
Nice! I’ll deffo film Dorn
Would love to see you painting Dorn 👍
i reckon the initial brown coat was too thin. i'm gonna try this method shortly. got myself an airbrush recently. loving it so far.
I love your airbrushing videos, but is there any chance you can make a video about how you airbrush? Ie how you use the trigger, spray movements, etc? I've been struggling using thinner paints and getting similar results.
I’ll look at adding something into our Intro to Airbrushing playlist
I'd love to see a knights errant painting tutorial at some point (the 30k knights errant, not 40k). Think on the Garro cover art there were some knights errant in mkvi.
Couple of people have asked for that over the last year or so. I’ll take a look.
@@cultofpaint I'll look forward to seeing a video in the future hopefully.

You’re right, it Flash Gitz Yellow!
What’s a vmc equivalent of Thondia brown? 🤔

Absolutely. Same process.
Hi Henry, my only fear is that you can’t fix mistakes using contrast paints. Doing the trims on the marines is a big of a nightmare!
Is anyone else having trouble with this scheme? after my basecoat of Thondia and apply Imperial fists the colour just doesn't look anywhere near similar.
I know lighting makes a difference, but it's so off.
Are you spraying the white before the yellow?

Definately would like to see rogal done
PLEEEEASE help me with a dark angels scheme!
Pretty There’s a 30k and 2 40k schemes already.
How long do you leave the polyurethane varnish to dry between each coat?
Touch dry. So I spray it on, get the hairdryer on it, then go again a few times.
@@cultofpaint Cheers Henry👍
BANANA!
Damn, cool tutorial but no use to me as I can't afford an airbrush
