I’m looking at a 2012 that has about 174k miles. The high mileage worried me but if the oil and maintenance has been maintained regularly, do you think this can be a good purchase?
I feel like I just found a gold mine here. Amazing review man, I'm shopping for my first car and this was very very helpful to understand what car I'm really getting with the Sentra.
This vedic is very useful for me. I am a student, and want to buy a car under 10k for commuting. With the same price Sentra is 2~3 years newer than the Corolla and Civic.
Some advice. To get the best acceleration from a CVT equipped car, you do not drive them the same as a traditional transmission car. You do not smack it to the floor to get max acceleration you push down to the floor a little quicker than normal, and the CVT will spool up quicker than if you just take it quickly to the floor. Spooling up is the equivalent to the transmission shifting gears. Like I said smacking it to the floor actually gives you slower increase in your speed.
Change your CVT fluid every 30k miles and your oil every 5k miles. The problem is that the previous owner probably doesn't do the CVT service. Hopefully they did and they have service records to prove it. Private seller with a good service record is key. Subscribed 6ft 5? Damn. I'm only 5ft 4 😂. I fit almost anywhere 😅
Getting a 2017 Sentra 20k off of carvana. Enjoy Sentras as they have great gas mileage. Will be maintaining it changing the trans oil every 25-30k. I’m 6’2 and it’s roomy for me. I am easy on the peddle. Will be taking car of it. Just with any car if you treat it with care, it’ll treat you with care.
For those considering this car and want a little more Zip without a huge fuel bill-The Sentra SR is actually pretty quick and fun to drive. The handling is a bit tighter and more responsive than the base, S or SV.
I have a 2017 Nissan Sentra has 116,000 miles on it and it was just in Arkansas this morning. I Just got back to Dallas and it has served me well. I have changed the cvt fluid every 30,000 miles on it with no issues. I have had 2 accidents in it but it was cosmetic damage and I still have the pictures of the accidents should I ever have to show pictures and repair reciepts whenever I sell the car. I have had it and its clean and well taken care of with all fluids and breaks changed at the dealership even now.
Good review. Reliability is the primary concern. I have a 2015 Nissan Versa Note which is faultless if you have the CVT fluid every 30,000 miles. I'm moving onto 90,000 miles with no issues.
Thank God I got warranty on my Nissan Sentra 2019! A week ago my transmission felt a little funny, it wouldn't shift normally and then all of a sudden the next day it wouldn't go to the proper gears. Unfortunately the shop said they had to change the whole transmission out and luckily my warranty covered the repair price of 5,500 dollars phew!😂
Make sure you follow the maintenance program, you will have no issues with the car. Just change whatever need changing once it is required to do so. Don't go cheap on your personal safety. Its an economic car, it takes you from A to B.
I have a question, so I'm trying to buy myself my first car and I have found one thats around $6500-$7000, around 92000 miles, good gas mileage, and its from 2014. Its in very good condition. The transmission goes up to 4. My question is the car even worth buying?
Hard to answer that question strictly based on that information, but what I would recommend is checking the CarFax report to make sure there are no reported accidents or other issues, paying to have the car inspected by an independent mechanic to make sure there's nothing wrong with it, and comparing prices to similar vehicles in your area to make sure the one you're looking at is in line with market value
@Ayoub O the one I’m trying to buy is a 2015 with 78k miles for 8500$ you think it’s worth it? Because I don’t think I can find another car like this, that has a low mileage. From the pictures it looks to be in amazing condition

Honestly no, all of my extended warranty experience is with OEMs. I'd just advise you to do your research on it. You could even call a Nissan dealer and see what sort of warranty they would sell you for it.
We just traded in our 2013 Sentra. Had 91000 miles with oil changes every 5 to 6000 miles. Overall, it was a dependable, easy to use car, with very few service issues, EXCEPT for the absolute CRAP CVT transmission. When we bought it new, the owners manual declared there was NO need to ever service the transmission. Sounded good. Yet, when the CVT started slipping badly at 65000 miles, the first thing the service advisor said was, You have been getting the transmission serviced every 30,000 miles, Right? About then, I started researching the whole Nissan CVT issue and discovered it was a well-known scandal that was costing Nissan millions of $. There was even a almost secret service extension to 100,000 miles on certain year / models IF you knew where to find out about it. Fortunately, we had taken the 7 year, 70,000 mile extended contract, as a rebuilt. CVT would cost over $4100. And NO ONE had ever mentioned the new maintenance requirement. So we lucked out and got by with a $100 deductable. Fast forward a few years to 82,000 miles. Noticing some small slipping issues. Took it to dealer for CVT service ahead of schedule. $300 later, it seemed better. Good as new. Last week, at 91,000 miles, pulled out of a restaurant drive thru, and suddenly, massive slippage. Running over 4000 RPM and getting under 25 MPH. Had to keep pulling over to let the honking traffic get by. Limped it home, barely. Next transmission would be on me. Sorry, no deal. Traded it in on a barely used Toyota Corolla. It had been mainly my wife's car all these years, and she got a bit mistly leaving it behind, but never again having to go to a Nissan dealer cheered me up massively.
I just rented a 2019 Sentra from Enterprise. At 54,000 miles the transmission seemed to be slipping and the rear seat was like sitting on a board, absolutely no padding. I don't think I'll be picking one of these up
Im thinking of buying a 2010 Nissan Sentra 2.0 with 135,000 miles has a c and heater looks fairly new inside outside does not look bad at all for 4,500 total is that a good deal ?
As always, it's hard for me to say without being familiar with that specific car. It sounds like it could be a good deal if the car is in good mechanical and structural condition. If you can have a mechanic inspect it to make sure it's in good shape, that's always a good thing to do.
Reliability is #1. Don’t want my kid stranded on the highway on a dark night …bottom line. I love Toyotas but so expensive. Looking at a Nissan but concerned about brakes. Can you do a video on how some ppl can fraudulently turn the odometer back?

A 2019 Sentra could be a great used car to buy because that was the last year of the old body style, so all the kinks had been worked out by the time it was built. But every car is unique so make sure the car that you are looking at has a good service history and check out the Carfax to see if it has been in any accidents. If you can have it inspected by an independent mechanic that's a great thing to do as well, to make sure you're buying a good car.
The tranny's in these cars are total garbage, the girly just had hers rebuilt at 100k last year (regular maintenance) and it didn't even make it another year, she was at a red light, light went green. No drive/reverse. Back to square one, horrible transmission design.
According to a very quick search on Kelly Blue Book, that may be a little high on the price depending on what package the car is. But KBB can't sell you a car, so the best advice I can give is search the local area to see if there are similar cars for less (or more) money to judge the deal you're looking at.
If those 3 compact sedan like (Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and Nissan Sentra) for a daily driver I would pick a Honda Civic over Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra cuz they’re most common rental fleet vehicle out the road.
As a nissa owner i can confidentiality say is Stay away from these pices of junk. If you buy one you will forever regret it. Don't do it. Don't buy any nissan product.

Unfortunately I'm not a mechanic, and based on that description I wouldn't want to make a wild guess as to what it wrong with your car. I would advise you to take it to a qualified mechanic to diagnose the problem.
Your talking about the body size of the car... When the problems are Major premature CVT failure,Brakes that are spongy and have ABS MODULE that costs a fortune. A car that won't start because of a brake light switch. Plus they should call it a Renault because they own most of Nissan.👎👎👎👎👎
I recommend not purchasing this vehicle. Their CVTs are an absolute garbage. I took care of it properly and it still failed at 120k miles. For some people the CVTS exploded during travel with no warning. I was lucky enough to notice when it began to fail, so I got rid of it while it was still driving. Aside from that, what you should look out for if you’re owning this vehicle like i did, clean the throttle body, keep an eye on PCV valve and MAF sensor. Check the engine coils regularly. Don’t keep this car more than 10 years if you’re doing 10000 to 12000 miles a year, It will become a money pit. This vehicle is very unreliable, things break in pairs. It has problems with heat shields, they break and rot away and get loose. The vehicle has a very weak engine of 130 horsepower and is front wheel drive. Has trouble getting up the hill even with good snow tires in the winter, especially if there is ice or snow on the ground. While it may provide great gas mileage, that pales in comparison to the maintenance that follows it. The parts on this vehicle don’t hold up well. It is a very cheap car to buy, but a nightmare to maintain mechanically. Do not buy. The materials inside the cabin also don’t hold up well. This vehicle requires to be warmed up in the winter for at least 15 minutes before you go on your way. Otherwise the CVT will rev high and there will be reduced power. Keep an eye on cars battery in the winter and get yourself a jump starter, it has a tendency to die in cold temperatures. This is my experience with it. Had to call AAA multiple times. As I said, do not purchase this vehicle, especially if it’s made in Mexico. You will curse it down for years to come.
worst Car so far I've ever had. don't buy it. I bought one and regret it.... i never had issues with Nissan cars unless i got Nissan Sentra ... CVT is such pain in the butt transmission. it overheats . trust me , DO NOT BUY it. you will thank me later.
You must either have a heavy foot or drive in super dense traffic. That or your sentra is just uniquely horrible. I'm getting a 2015 sentra tomorrow from a family friend and it gets 33mpg. The specs on a stock 2015 sentra are 30 city/40 highway. That's definitely not normal. My shitbox 09 dodge nitro gets 12 and it's a 3900lb car with more issues than anything I've ever seen on the road. Take your car to the mechanic that's not normal you're probably driving a safety hazard

Very informative. Thank you.
is nissan sentra 2015 worth a 15k dollars nowadays with 75k mileage?Roswell NM area
According to a very quick search on Kelly Blue Book, that may be a little high on the price depending on what package the car is. But KBB can't sell you a car, so the best advice I can give is search the local area to see if there are similar cars for less (or more) money to judge the deal you're looking at.
@@CarDietrich what about for 8500$ is it worth it?
This is the only option when you got no down payment and bad/no credit. Maybe if you're lucky you could get a Kia Soul.
I got a Nissan Sentra 2014 with 40,000 mile I should change Transmission oil now
If those 3 compact sedan like (Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and Nissan Sentra) for a daily driver I would pick a Honda Civic over Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra cuz they’re most common rental fleet vehicle out the road.
Does it have any Mazda starter in it though?
It wishes it did
As a nissa owner i can confidentiality say is Stay away from these pices of junk. If you buy one you will forever regret it. Don't do it. Don't buy any nissan product.
Even if it’s automatic transmission?
What’s proof buddy
I own a 2013 and 15 sentra
@@jhonsonmojica9061 piece of junk but you bought 2 anyway 😂
@jhonsonmojica9061 I heard from my mechanic to avoid those specific years for the Sentra. Other than that, they are a decent economic car
Is the intake manifold on top of the head.i hate that design.
It comes out the side, since it is a transverse mounted engine the intake manifold is right at the front of the engine compartment
Omg pleaseee you guys, don’t buy this car. This is my first car and I wish someone talked me out of it. Have the same model/year color etc. Still owe money on it and I’ve had it for 3 years now and right after I hit 100k I started having acceleration issue, speed dropping as I drive and might have to replace the transmission because of it. I don’t even drive my car as much anymore because of it
Did you try a transmission flush before all that?
@@aaronyanez7349 no. After taking it a transmission shop and then not being able to figure out what was causing the issue they suggested I take it to a dealership, they said it was a TCM sensor or something like that. It was good for a week but then the same thing Happened again. Took it back and they said it was water in the taillight. ($330 to replace ONE taillight) after that was replaced. *knock on Wood* issue hasn’t Happened again
@Ayoub O it wasn’t just condensation, it was actual water. They said the water affected the electrical. But before I took it to Nissan I had took it a transmission shop and Goodyear and had a friend come over, he used his scanner but never got back a code at all. they couldn’t figure out the issue but since replacing the taillight with the water it hasn’t happened again
Is your transmission CVT or automatic? I’m thinking of getting an automatic because I see a lot of negative reviews from ppl with CVT
@@bratz2369 CVT. I took it to a transmission shop and they couldn’t find anything wrong with. Took it good year and same thing. Took it to Nissan and they kept it for a day and found water in one of the tail lights. The water affecting the wires which was causing the vehicle the stall randomly. After they replaced the taillight I haven’t had the issue since
so im trying to get my first car.. is this the best bet to get ?
The Nissan Sentra could be a very good choice for a first car. Right now supplies of all vehicles are limited, so if you find a clean Sentra at a good price you might want to just go for it.
@@CarDietrich i found a 2016 sentra with 69k miles at $12k, i’m a college student and this will be my first car to make payments on. should i just go for it ? i need a new car in the next couple months

I have a 2015 Nissan Sentra basic, it feels like it wants to stall when I'm go to stop?. There is only 40,000 0n it or so.
Unfortunately I'm not a mechanic, and based on that description I wouldn't want to make a wild guess as to what it wrong with your car. I would advise you to take it to a qualified mechanic to diagnose the problem.
Great Sentra.
Your talking about the body size of the car... When the problems are Major premature CVT failure,Brakes that are spongy and have ABS MODULE that costs a fortune. A car that won't start because of a brake light switch. Plus they should call it a Renault because they own most of Nissan.👎👎👎👎👎
It is a budget sports car😎
Awww the Nissan CVT. f around and find out $$$ Nissan makes incredible engines but the cvt is cursed imo.
I wouldn't buy any used car unless it had service records and a warranty...
My advice is DO NOT BUY ANY SENTRA WITH A CVT TRANSMISSION, they don't make it past 100k and sometimes less ... You'll be sorry if you do...
Please I have Nisan Sentra but I have problem with my gear boos please are you set the complete gear boos
I'm sorry I don't understand your question, and unfortunately I'm not a mechanic so I'm not sure I could answer it if I did...
The Subaru cvt is also built by Jatco. But the Sentra is by far about the worst compact out there. The Cruze is worse and so is the Focus
This car has two joys: when you buy it and when you sell it😂 i sell it befor couple days very happly when i sell it😂 god damn
Transmission went to shit right at 133k miles on 2015 Sentra. Smh
Those cars he is talking about are expensive.
Well I’m a woman 😂😂 so I would love to get this car 😂 with 2 kids it’s gonna come in hand
I'm 5.9 so I should be ok hopefully lol
You'll be fine
I have a 2017 Sentra and it's a horrible car with an average 8.9MPG mileage. $600 per month on gas alone!!!
@@Matthew-_ I think it's a troll
you're normal sized 😂
Worst car ever Nissan sentra 😡😡😡😡
You gotta take care of it, and it’ll take care of you.
@@TheChurchIsLikenUntoTheMoon i agree 100%
No disagree probably haven't even drove it before smh💙💙💙its a Japanese manufacturer
With the CVT transmission you need to change the CVT fluid and filter every 30K miles and then you will not have transmission problems
@@justinh5076 is the fluid and filter the same as the oil change? Or they are different things ? Sorry I’m new into this.
