After driving around the Nissan Sentra for a week, I wasn't sure I was going to review it, as it just wasn't a special car at all. Then, just for fun, I checked the MSRP for the 2018 Nissan Sentra S with the CVT transmission, and when I found out it stickered for around 18K, I knew I had to make a video to warn people NOT TO BUY THIS!

Honda fit and toyota yaris are not the same vehicle class! Corolla and Civic are more comparable.
      Civic: $19550
      Corolla: $19600
      Sentra: $17780
      Elantra: $17300
Elantra is slightly cheaper but I have driven the Elantra and it is also just as basic and sad, also why would you buy a hyundai?

@@dillonh321 I don't understand how you can say that the Yaris and Sentra don't belong in the same category. I've owned both. I would pick the Yaris any time over the sentra it's a no brainer. Did you ever check the mpg yourself? Don't believe the computer, the sentra has terrible actual mpg. Dude try the Yaris, itt's seriously so much better. Especially with the options you can get for what you'd pay for a sentra.

    Lol it’s a family car
    Speakers are nice
Gas mileage is dope as fuck
It looks great for the price
The colors they come in, (I have the blue) look awesome.
Sounds pretty nice for a 4 cylinder.
    Seats are comfortable.
I drove 4 of my friends to a club in my Sentra and they all liked how comfortable it was inside and how smooth it was.
They kept complimenting it, no joke.
    The tablet is very responsive
Trunk space is great, it has a break sensor at the front which is nifty
And for a small car, it’s very spacious.
Cruise control locks in super quick.
It has enough power to quickly cut someone off lol
    It’s a nice car, man.
You’re simply mad that it’s not a “cool” car.
    That’s your issue.
But it doesn’t make the car a bad car.
It’s a great, safe, and comfortable family car.
I literally had to let go of my Nissan 370z this weekend for a family car because I’m about to have a child, and you know what’s crazy?
I’m actually very happy about my trade in for my new 2019 Sentra!
I was expecting to be sad about leaving my 370z
But I’m actually comfortable and happy with it
    Those are my 2 cents
You’re honestly just bias as hell, man.

Fine: I will compare the $17,000 2019 Nissan Sentra against the first car I drove: A 1963 Volkswagon beetle that was already 7 years old. At least I could get in and out of the VW without having to fold myself like a pretzel to get my head to clear the doorframe. And we could have bought about 10 or 20 of those VW's for the price of the Sentra. LOL! Granted, my second car, a 1962 Ford Falcon station wagon was way worse than the Sentra. Nobody should put a 90hp engine in any sort of station wagon. I think the VW had more horsepower. Glad my dad borrowed the Ford and totaled it when I'd only had it a month. My next car after that was a 1963 Chevy Biscayne station wagon. LOTS of space! We even made a bed in the back with the seat folded down that would fit two people in sleeping bags opened out flat and zipped together to make a double-wide sleeping bag. Did lots of car camping in that one! Anyone trying to make out in the back of the Sentra is just going to hurt themselves. When I finally replaced the '63 Chevy station wagon, it was 22 years old and had over 240,000 miles on it and got to the junkyard under its own power. I wonder where these Sentra's will be when they're 20+ years old?

It is a roomy, fuel efficient car. They use it to go shopping, doctor’s appointments etc. If someone wants a sports sedan, then go out and buy a used BMW 3-Series.

He should have tested the same Nissan in the ACTUAL Nissan dealership maybe u wouldn't have heard any vibrations lol, also this can be a good sports car . So? I have this 2019 Nissan Sentra rental I have to compare to my 2008 Honda Odyssey EX-L that's in the repair shop for a week. I'm literally comparing a $17,000 kids car to a $55,000 old farts van for people who just want to get into their car without having to figure out which limb to fit in first so they aren't stuck halfway. Tip to people who order all-black interiors like this Sentra: The all-black interior renders the meager inside cabin lighting completely useless. If you dropped something in the car, you're not going to find it at night without a flashlight.
I cannot wait until my car is back from the shop. I am going to love it ever so much more after riding a week in this thing that feels like I'm an adult riding in a battery powered Barbie car for kids.

going instantly to the floor in a cvt car as this guy does actually gives you slower acceleration. It takes longer for the cvt to spool up this way.Spool up is the same as shifting gears in a regular automatic transmission car. To get the best increase in speed you press down a little quicker than normal but do not just snap it down. To see what I mean by spooling up just Google how a cvt transmission works and you will see videos of it.Also agressively hammering on a cvt will greatly reduce it's life span. They just cannot take it and get the cvt fluid changed every thousand miles and you won't have problems.

GEEZ....not everyone floor boards a car, some of us just want to drive gently around. I have an extended warranty for the transmission, and so far it has been a comfortable road trip car, and great for around the town. Also, I got all the bells and whistles for a reasonable price.

I think you are just a Nissan hater talking shit about car. My cousin owns a 2017 Sentra SR with that same engine and transmission (wich I have driven a couple times my self) and I own a 2.4l Honda Accord. I think the Nissan has the same if not better power and definitely better fuel mileage than my Accord (wich by the way the Accord is a higher category vehicle and by that I mean Accord is a full sedan while the Sentra is a compact sedan) Also CVT transmissions don't have gears wich make the engine sound like it's sliping or stuck in a gear. They are build for fuel economy not for "sporty sound". The Sentra comes with a sport mode wich when activated and floored it does not make that loud stuck in a gear sound like it's about to blow up like that particular one you drove (wich by the way IT'S A RENTAL!) No one knows what people have done to that car.
And Honda people, I'm not talking shit about the Honda. I think both cars have there pros and cons. Either way they are both great cars and modern (unlike this dummy said). Just pick the one you love the most. Because if you treat any car the right way and do your maintenance on time, they will last for ever!

NIssan Sentra seems designed for small people. I'm only 5'7" & 185 lbs. but I hit my head on the door frames getting in and out every time. Until I jacked the car seat all the way down as low as it would go, I didn't even fit between the seat and the top of the door frame while getting in, and had to practically lay my head on my shoulder to get in. The door sill is ridiculously high, so that you have to lift your feet about 5 or 6 inches just to get them up and over it while exiting the car. I was given this car as a rental while my Honda Odyssey EX-L is in the shop (thanks to some jerk who side-swiped it on Christmas eve in a parking lot while I was in the store, and who left no note so I'm stuck paying my deductible.) I'm glad I only have to drive this car a few days at most. My wife, who weighs between 250 and 290 lbs, can't possibly fit into this car even on the passenger side. This car is obviously designed for limber, young, short, skinny people who care more for looks than comfort - not for old farts like me who want to just get into a car, not have to put it on like a wrapper.

It may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I have driven a used 2010 Versa since 2016 with no major issues. 18k is pretty steep for a new Sentra but once it’s 2 to 3yrs old the price will drop below 10k. I see used 2019s for under 10k. The 2010 Versa is not my first choice but It definitely gets me where I need to go reliably. It had 107,000 miles on it when it got it for 3,800k. Now it has 203,000 miles and still going strong.

The interior is way better than some of the others. Like the tablet on the dash of the Mazda 3 that looks like badly installed addon, and the digital speedometer in the Civic, that just look horrible in my opinion. The CVT works fine. If you can't drive it smoothly, you need to learn how to drive. You're just bias and are a Honda fanboy, always talking about your Type-R. Look at the price of the Type-R compare to the Sentra. Duh! As for people not buying them… There are many around here. We see a lot of them. As for Hyunday? They have NO resell value, and are crap. Their engines fail before the waranty ends, way before. in MANY of them. The Honda Fit is way smaller than the Sentra.

If you expect manual transmission type gas pedal operation CVT feels so bad. CVT was meant to be designed to have steady gas pedal operation, NOT up and down like the conventional transmission (no jerky motion). If you do that it feels horrible. FYI: Nissan CVT technology was used for Japanese Bullet Trains. If you have been on them, you know how smooth they are. You hear the constant steady hum of the motor at the same frequency tone, NOT UP AND DOWN. That's how it was designed for. If you expect to drive like a sport car, don't even get in a car with CVT. AND DON'T EVEN COMPARE.

How can you call this car “junk” with 0 redeemable qualities, when you merely reviewed this car based on its appearance and driving performance. How about try doing some research?
You drove the base model. The Sentra Nismo SR would give you the kick you’re whining about. This car has the highest safety rating among its class (according to the IIHS and NHTSA). Gets great gas mileage. Mine averages 37.5 and have gotten up to 40mpg multiple times. It’s also the roomiest vehicle in its segment and price for new models is very affordable compared to the Civics, Corollas, and Elantras. Consumer Reports reliability tests rated this car above average to its competition, with an above average consumer satisfaction.
By the way, Corollas and Civics sell for around $12-13k too after being on the market for over a year. It’s called supply and demand.
I recommend potential buyers to do their own research and not bother with anything said by this uniformed individual. Then, you can compare my facts to his opinions.

    • @socope17
      @socope17 5 років тому

d1zguy Reselling your car for $2k less than what you bought it for brand new 2 years ago, sounds more like the exception than the norm. Use any car search engine and you’ll be hard-pressed to see any car retain that much resale value, unless it’s a sports car or a classic. I do agree Hyundai are just a bit better than Nissan in terms of resale value.

    • @d1zguy864
      @d1zguy864 5 років тому

Hmm, not so sure. You can do the the same right now. Buy a 18 or 19' civic si for 22k out the door or close to it drive it for 15-24 months and sell it trade in for 20k.
Also heavily dependent on the model and trim and options. A civic touring of the same year would have been worth 19k even though it costs 4k more than msrp for a si.

I bought my 2018, in 2018, it, just as a get around car, work and everyday life things. was a great car, didn't need fun, just reliable, and that it was. Kept up the maintenance, and it ran like a dream. No transmission issues, but in every car, issues are a hit and miss. I got mine because it had a good crash test rating, and just recently it saved my life in a t-bone accident going about 44mph (not my fault). When I got out of the car, radio was still playing, and everything on the dash still worked perfectly fine. Cop even started it and moved it, unfortunately it was a total loss. If your looking for speed and fun, then yeah I don't recommend. But for me, my 2018 sentra, was a great car, I just happened to get a good one. Lol!

The new Nissan's look nice, but they suck like you said, and their CVTs are the worst! If I had to buy a new cheapest car, it would be a Honda Fit Sport. Right now, the cars I would consider seriously, are the Honda Civic Sport/Si models, the Subaru Impreza Sport Hatchback, Crosstrek Limited, and now, I really want a Forester Sport. If I went performance under $40K, I would get the 2019 WRX Premium Dark Blue Pearl CVT or 6 Speed with the shirt throw shifter kit, and the Performance package Recaro seats, upgraded brakes and sunroof delete. The 2019 finally has the big touch screen radio with Android Auto, Apple Car Play, and a CD Player! I also heard the Toyota is working on getting Android Auto in their new cars, so I finally can consider those when they are available, as Toyotas are great, reliable cars. Got a dealer trying to get me I'm a Chevy spark or Nissan sentra saying if I trade it in a year they'll pay it off and I can move up....he claims they are very reliable vehicles lol. I'm like dude I can just save $5-10k and get a newer Gen honda civic or accord from carvana delivered right to me with many more perks, without the annoying hassle of car salesmen. The guy had the nerve to tell me the sentra or spark would be a "blessing" for me 🤣
I'll only buy a honda or Toyota period.

There's a smaller Nissan up here in Canada. It's the Nissan Micra and would drive circles around that junk. Crazy thing about it, it MSRP's for $10k Canadian. It's the platform for cheapest race car. (micracup.com)

I drive a 2020 Nissan maxima sr which is very confortable which cost.over 40 grand, brough my daugther a usé 2019 sentra 25,000 miles for $12,500 car is perfect and rids good but you can't compare it to a $40,000 car you get what you pay for it's obvious when you get into a expensive car or used to driving one a cheaper car is going to feel different. I was surprised of the power the little car had

For what you can get one now, these are great. Especially with the warranty. only get it with a warranty. On the freeway if you learn how to communicate with the car its not terrible. But you will have to switch to the right lane when going up a hill lmao.

I agree with this guy. I like the look of it but the engine is awful. I drive on the freeway everyday to work and the engine sounds horrible just trying to keep up with the speed of the traffic.

Not agree, with respect to your review, your reasons and judgments are more personal, I have a 2019 and I love the interior design it's "simple beauty" and very comfort for me, the drive and transmission is smooth, May be this car is not good for kind of young and fast drivers or the people looking for highly decorated interiors but I think it's perfect for the middle age drivers like me.

FlyinGato, why did you expect the Sentra to be cheaper. The Corolla, and Civic all start under 20k like the Sentra. FlyinGato, the Sentra is a COMPACT CAR. You don't understand.
