I swear to god, if you don't seize the opportunity to make New Millenium Xylophone Christ....
Xam271 Who says all UA-cam comments are garbage? This one is special. I'd buy it lunch if I could.
I just screenshoted this conversation
Xam271 YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@RKMontgomery Lol youd buy it lunch
What...what happened here? There's only four comments.
Meshuggah should be included in music textbooks. I mean, they really revolutionized metal music and practically created a whole new genre of metal.
It's crazy how they've been at it for decades and now there are a lot of bands coming up who where influenced by them, even if they didn't get a more deserving mainstream recognition they were still deeply influential for metal in general.
Meshuggah - the influence of the influential, sort of like the actor's actor but for musicians
Giovanni Ambrosio they are in textbooks. There's a whole class on progressive jazz metal.
I’ve heard some college professors use there music to teach in classes.
Tool also seems to translate well ...
Holy. Moly. This is incredible. I would pay gross amounts of dollar papers for a whole album of this. Also, sending this to my buddy Per right now.
ikr!
UNCLE BEN?!
@@moonboogien8908 hi!
Per Nilsson was really awesome, some parts he played live sounded even better than Frederik
you say meshimba, i say maruggah.
BeBopScraBoo this hasn’t been liked enough. Fucking hilarious!
Hahahahaha
Holy crap. Whoever arranged this is genius. Gave me chills! Well done.
Lol thanks! 🙏🏻
"Arranged by Kevin Zetina" right at the beginning lol. Thanks Kevin!!
Somebody should send this video to Meshuggah. They'll be proud of this incredible work.
body no *You send it to them , you lazy fuck*
Antonio Brother give me their numbers please, I mean if is that easy...Tomas Haake would be nice
CamilaNebula pretty sure they would quite willingly reply if you tweeted them, the days of the “supercilious rockstar” personality are far in the past
@@_Not_Retarded lmao
Arnold Schoenberg defined musical success as: "When others both study and mimic you." By that definition, Meshuggah is one of the most successful metal bands there is. This sounds like something Pierre Boulez the famous 20th century composer would have come up with.
Respect! Glad it's being recognized academically.
Agreed! This would be amazing if this one day would be added as a live intro/transition to the song!
Unearthlywhales I thought the same thing.
Human music. Hm, I like it.
UFO spotted 👽👽👽
@@giuartista2911 no, Jarry spotted!
Hahahahahaha
I'm blown away by the arrangement and performance. I am aware that a band like Meshuggah can be hard to listen to bythose who dislike extreme metal music. Nonetheless this is a perfect translation of the original piece. Wow
Thank you!! 🙏🏻
''MESHUGGAH HAVE NO MELODY'' MYTH --------------------------> DEBUNKED!
Screwyouguysimgoinghome People need to listen to Meshuggah the same way you listen to Jazz and Classical. You really have to use your brain and pay attention, and then you start to realize how fantastic it all is.
I'm glad I don't have to use my brain when listening to Meshuggah.
To be fair...
there was no such myth.
don't worry about people that consider great music what they can easily sing under the shower. They are cretins with a big mouth.
when you look at these guys, you now understand how huge is Meshuggah in terms of actraction spectrum.
oh yeah i realize that now thanks
Any musician worth thier salt would appreciate Meshuggah. I have played in jazz bands, orchestras, and many other more modern bands. Music doesn't draw borders. People do.
I hope this has at least 10 billion views when I come back next week
nope
+Joshua Howard stupid judeo christian shut up.
Two years later, and only 80K 😩
The original is one of my favorite songs ever recorded. The distortion makes it difficult to distinguish any melody in the original. You brought to life just how truly haunting the song really is. I love it. Thank you.
Haunting is literally the word I was looking for to describe this.
I don't think they tuned their instruments low enough for this
I agree, but it would be messy once it's done at a very low tuning, percussive units needs to be distinguished in order to sound musical, but hey as I said You're totally right.
The instruments would have to be custom built to down tune acoustically. Worth the money for sure.
Also the fact this sounds so true even though an octave up is a testament to their skill.
And the vocals are all out of tune. Wrong lyrics, too.
do you see how big the lower resonators on that marimba are?
"Good job kids. That was a fantastic job with Mary Had a Little Lamb. Next up, New Millennium Cyanide Christ."
wow in this context, i realize how odd the melodies and such are.
TheApostleofRock this is the proper context.
i always think of an indian dance with aggressive foot stepping
Those accidentals are killer

The gong at 7:50 is so exciting. He literally just strikes it once but it creates a whole atmosphere of its own.
Gong are like that. Often they're only used for a single hit in an entire gig, over-used they lose all the impact.
Are you deaf? He plays it twice lol
Percussion Director- "I have a new piece for you guys!"
Students- "Cool! What time signature?"
Percussion Director- "All of them!"
Well done! I wish I did something like this when I was in ensemble.
Not every song. Just a good majority
I is one

This song is in 4, but it could also be written in 12/8, which is 4 with a triplet feel. Just depends on whether or not you feel like writing down triplets or 1/8th notes
ego also check out their song Beneath. 6/8 for the beginning part. There's also a sick video of a drum line rockin that song out on UA-cam to a group of spectators that don't really know what's going on hahaha
clockworks, perpetual black second
The same piece as Meshuggah, but a totally unique feel and atmosphere. Amazing, you guys should have been so proud when you composed this.
i swear the kid on the left is a ghost
Opacity 60%
It just makes me so happy to see gifted and curious musicians getting inspired across genres. This cool arrangement almost becomes the soundtrack for There will be blood or a Hitchcock movie - perhaps North by northwest.
effin awsome. Fredrik Thordendal is a great composer. I like this interpretation of the song. Very cool.
It's sounds like soundtrack for PS1 adventure game
You guys should really get this recorded properly in a studio at Eastman or something. Super sweet arrangement!
The new apocalyptica
Lmao, you can totally tell which one of these people convinced the others to do this song.
The guy in the center with the beard is so much more into it than everyone else hahahaha
Amish dude on the marimba is gettin' down!
I think Meshuggah is already on the curriculum and has been for a while, there are interviews with the band talking about this:) They donated a whole bunch of instruments to the music school after a fire also.
He's the only one not using sheets of music.
@@szodas_lova he has two sheet stands right in front of him.
Josh Hulbert do you remember which interview? :)
I like that you kept a tactus along most of the arrangement, its quite an important part for meshuggah's music so I really apprecciate you kept it
I hope Meshuggah know about this. Amazing arrangement and performance, guys!
Doesn’t matter what instruments it’s played on, 4:36 is still the heaviest riff of all time.
hell f''ucki'n yeaaah dude, the sudden transition is insane
MESHUGGAH NEED THEIR OWN ''S & M''
Meshuggah: Kolossical
I think the only composer who could match the crushing tone of Meshuggah would be Hans Zimmer.
@@luke666808g i think Stephen Reich, Phillip Glass or Arvo Pärt fits better
Meshuggah doesn't need S&M, S&M need Meshuggah 😈😈😈
@@luke666808g Tigran Hamasian maybe?
Well, headbanging to that piano around the 3 minute mark was a little weird. Felt right though.
This is top tier nerding and I absolutely LOVE it!
You LEGENDS!
This is the kind of musical fuckery that truly makes me happy. I just sit here at work with a big idiot smile on my face and won't shake it off for straight 7 min already.
precise, bass-heavy, and just right
I did not expect to get goosebumps from this but oh wow! This was amazing and I cannot believe it took me this long to stumble upon it.
You all did an amazing job!
Sometimes the only things that get me through a rough day are brilliant meshuggah covers like this
This is the only comment I have ever used this account for on a video that is not my own. This is amazing. I just had to log in and tell you that. Just....wow. One of my favorite songs by this band and you just kick it up a whole new level. Stunning.
Probably my favourite Meshuggah cover in the entire internet
Cela montre la valeur des compositions de Meshuggah Merci à ces artistes de les avoir mis à l'honneur avec grande qualité.
This is my all time favorite song of Meshuggah, gave me goosebumps from the start till the end. Amazing arrangement you guys did right there 💗💗
ME TOO
This is absolutely SICK
While listening to this, I either: pictured myself as a crab with very squinted eyes, dancing erratically along a sea floor, or sat here grinning, and occasionally laughing hysterically while rocking side to side. I say this coming from a place of respect. Thank you.
really eerie.
epic
unsettling
stuff that would compliment THE CONJURING and other such movies
Masterpeice
Half a year later I find myself back at this video. You guys did an excellent job.
Once again the beauty of meshuggah transcends genre, instrumentation, and cultures. Absolutely brilliant
So glad this showed up in my recommended.
the steve reich + meshuggah style overlap we all deserve. amazing
Wow ! Amazing ! So cool and perfect 😮😮😮👏👏👏👏👏
Very nice job everyone ! 👏🔥✨
Honestly the guy on drums still has one of the most challenging jobs here. Gotta find that 4 and cling on to it for dear life
You guys are insane. This video is gonna blow up
La Pompe Music it sure exploded...not
Meshuggah's style transcends genre. Amazing work
This is incredible. I can't believe how well this works on percussion
you know a song is good, when its played on other instruments and still sounds awesome. well done guys. chose your instrumentation very nicely.
I can honestly say, that this sounds like nothing I’ve heard before. Very strange, yet very interesting.
Huge, huge Meshuggah fan. This is my favorite song by them. And I live in Rochester. So this is making my day. Awesome stuff.
Fight me.
Greatest cover ever..... nuf said. This is a song for specific ears, ears to appreciate all those beautiful chords that were going on in the beast. You made my day for sure, great job all of you!
Bro. Took me like 700 years to learn this song on bass. This is just incredible.
you're old
4:06 total chills. man that was good. and 5:19 nice!
This is absolutely fucking insane... Amazing in every way.
Tomas Haake would be proud 😍 this song still slams in any instrumental language!
It's an absolute crime if the band hasn't seen this
This is beyond words, this is pure gold, amazing amazing amazing, I got chills every second. You made the song even more amazing, it's on a whole new level of expression. Please please give us more!
1st time in my life that I think I've ever headbanged to xylophone....
I WOULD PAY TO SEE THIS CONCERT.
That breakdown still goes hard as fuck even if it sounds like a creepy Banjo Kazooie level
Haha thanks? 😂
Amazing cover. For some reason this gives me massive vibes of like custom DoomWADS people make and the custom music on it.
props to the girl on the right, hitting her high notes arpeggiated.
Bravo. Thank you for all of this. We need this perspective of music. Great arrangement and performance. I truly enjoyed this. Thumbs up if you agree.
This sounds like when a protagonist has just made a horrific discovery in a movie putting the pieces together from all the strange goings-on as of late
This is so amazing! I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the break down and it delivered!
It is so cool! It would be fabulous if you guys recreate Catch 33 album in the whole.
I am in the (greater) Rochester area, and it is awesome to know that such great stuff goes on here. I'm already a fan of Break of Reality, who also, I believe came together at the Eastman! Keep up the great work!
This has to be the coolest and strangest redo. Unreal! Well done.
that gong that marks the outro is fucking perfect
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
Seriously just amazing.
This literally gave me chills. Amazing arrangement and execution. Love meshuggah. LOVE THIS!
