It's great how much variety there is. Whoever decided that every character in SA2 needed their own genre for their levels was a genius. It was probably Jun and we don't deserve him.

This was greatly orchestrated and sounds beautiful, for a place that's about to collapse. Makes you think of the impending doom Crisis City has, doesn't it?

That's a cheap move. I'm pretty sure there isn't a game that has a better soundtrack than Touhou. A few games like Transistor and Sonic CD are amazing, but not genius level. Sonic 06 isn't even close.
Mousy Saint Except I never actually stated the Touhou soundtracks to be good. Just that they could put Maxie and Archie's trumpets to shame. The Touhou series does have a great soundtrack, but there are soundtracks that beat them, in my opinion. Undertale, Shovel Knight, The World Ends With You, and Kingdom Hearts.
Mm...let me just say that Toby Fox drew inspiration for the Undertale soundtrack from the Touhou Project. though, I will admit...there are games with better soundtrack than Touhou. Yes, tge soundtrack in Touhou is amazing, but most of the music sounds rather simplified compared to some game soundtracks with actual instruments and orchestras. (Hardcore Touhou fan btw)
Listening to this remix next to the original, it's kind of cool how they both have super different moods to them and different things driving the frantic pace of the song. This one is slightly faster, and has a much more obvious "dance" drum beat to it that makes it sound almost like a club mix. The depth of the song is also a lot more shallow -- there's not too many "layers" to the song that might be distracting. It's also a LOT shorter -- the entire thing is mostly comprised of the "Flame" and "Skyscraper" parts of the Crisis City song, with mostly just a tiny portion dedicated to "Whirlwind" as it prepares to loop with a really clever and well placed call-back to "Tornado" with that barely-audible sax solo in the background. All in all, it's a really great remix, and very well suited to losing yourself to a routine, like if you're at work or in the gym. I've downloaded the extended version of this remix, and it's crazy how easy I find it to just get lost in time because aside from the very beginning when they briefly drop the beat, there's no real dips in intensity from start to finish. The original Crisis City, though, is SUPER dynamic and deep. I would encourage anyone to go back and listen to it again, and just marvel at how the music takes you on a journey. None of the parts really sound alike, so it's a lot easier to tell how much time has passed. It's also a LOT longer, taking over 6 minutes to get through all of the parts of the song, which isn't too unusual for the 06 OST. The beat is a bit slower, and curiously, the drum beat seems to play less of a role in driving the "Fast" sensation of the song -- instead owing a large portion of that to, as best as I can tell, the droning, constant thrumming of a bass line. There's a lot more stuff going on with the sound design, too -- a lot more unique sounds and ways of mixing the instruments. And I especially like the guitar solo in "Whirlwind" and the dueling guitars in "Tornado". And, of course, the aforementioned sax solo, as well as some horns near the end making it sound kind of noble in a way? It's really fascinating how the beginning and end of the song sound so radically different -- ending on an almost triumphant note, instead of the super tense beginning of the song. I did download an extended version of THAT song too (because of course I did), and it does a phenomenal job at marrying the beginning and end. I prefer to listen to that when I have more time to marvel at all the work that must have gone into it. I'd recommend it for walking / running (preferably on a treadmill -- be safe!) or biking (same hat!) since it's a tempo you can much better keep pace with over an extended period of time. This got super long, but at the end of the day, I find it fascinating how two takes on the same Sonic song by the same Sonic team came out so wonderfully different, while still clearly resembling each other. I think it's awesome how this remix focused mostly on the best and most memorable parts of the song (really hinging on that violin section in "Skyscraper" and the bombastic opening synth sounds at the beginning) while trimming the fat, even though I think it's a shame that some of the depth of the original is lost thanks to that. They both get 10 stars, though -- all day, every day.
Pascal MEYER you mean the original game where crisis city come from? then how come angel island zone is on smash but never seen a nintendo game with that stage/theme?? besides, sonic generations was on 3DS (i think) so the sonic gen version of this particular theme was in a nintendo and still could be added to smash
+Pascal MEYER Not sure this is necessarily the criteria, because Brawl had a remix of His World, which is Sonic's theme in Sonic 06 (and I don't think is in any other game).
Yeah. I've been thinking they should remake it in the style of generations like they did with Crisis City. That and a version of Unleashed but with Knuckles instead of the Werehog and Sonic and a remade Shadow the Hedgehog game (both developed by Platinum).
me: **looks at sonic chronicles** also me: yeah sounds about right... ok that was just a joke the music could be a bit nicer if they planned it more out.

@@chaclon1114 There was an interview when 06 was coming out asking how Blaze is part of the story and how she's from the future when Rush established her. Believe it went down the lines of the director saying Rush's events never happened and 06 was her introduction to the series, hence why she doesn't recognize Sonic. Blaze was added to 06 because she was the most well received character since Shadow. They went back on her story after backlash and said 06 Blaze wasn't the Rush Blaze later on, or something to that effect but only said it to calm angry fans down (people sure did like that Blaze and Cream friendship). Well we all know what the better game was and now Blazes origins are in some sort of limbo. It makes no sense for her to be from another dimension but still somehow be part a distant future from Sonics world. Silvers an even weirder case as hes still from the future but has no reason to still be in the present and hes never been given a proper re-introduction since, hes just there. 06 is still canon but only Blaze and Silver (mostly) are affected by it, the rest of the events are ignored. Yes the most accepted theory is that its an alternate Blaze but Sega treats the whole situation as af they're the same. And yes, in 2 games she doesn't recognize Sonic yet somehow references seeing Crisis City again (an even that never happened), while talking to Cream at the end of the same game, referencing her friendship with Cream. Fr, and hearing that whistle/siren sound in the background gave me such nostalgia for the inside the tornado section in the og!! I love how they combined the tracks for each segment of Crisis City into one song!!
Was playing this full blast on the last day of school in class with me and my friend vibing along while everyone else looks at us like we've lost our sanity
This reinterpretation was very good, it took an excellent song and with these violin touches it gave a perfect air to the stage that is already involving by itself
@@Morbius-Tension I'd be honored to have someone help me out sometime! I'm currently in the process of writing a short story surrounding this idea, but of course the main story won't be done for a little while. Hopefully I can write it out as a digital comic series soon. :)

That violin sounds amazing and this song is definitely on the top of my list. They should share this on an anime of some sort. It would make a great intense scene~
Yeah! This gives me badass anime intro/battle scene vibes! Kinda like a blend of the Storybook adventures with the upbeat pacing, the elegance of Persona 3/5, with the tense atmosphere of Attack On Titan [which I've yet to watch]. I love this track so much! ^^ ♡
It’s so awesome how they condensed the music from the sky section and the music from the mach speed section into one small part at the end, God Generations got creative with its music
0:01: "You are about to enter the courtroom of Judge Judith Sheindlin. The people are real. The cases are real. The rulings are final. This is Judge Judy."
I've finally bought Sonic Generations yesterday on Steam. And after multiple downloads and an Unleashed Render mod installed, I've been having a jolly good time with it! It feels so good to revisit this game again. If only I kept my Xbox controllers so that I wouldn't have to use the keyboard :/
it's so hard for me to choose my favorite version of crisis city. there's the 06 version, which is very cinematic with a lot of movings parts, and then there's the generations version, with the violins having a sense of motion (which makes sense bc it's sonic) and it combines all the awesome parts of the 06 version
this song feels like a constant buildup without a climax for some reason. I don't know how else to explain it but it just feels like a rising tension even though nothing really changes. Im saying that as a good thing
This stage in Generations is so much better and more enjoyable than the entire Sonic O6. It is unreal how enjoyable that stage is. That song is just fantastic !
The roads in this level actually make sense, when compared to the likes of Speed Highway, The city is in pure ruin, the roads would have to been bent to the point to make loops and ramps out of them.

1: 𝗡 𝗢 𝗦 𝗧 𝗔 𝗟 𝗚 𝗜 𝗔
2:28 does not get nearly enough praise, it is *SO underrated.*
Fr, and hearing that whistle/siren sound in the background gave me such nostalgia for the inside the tornado section in the og!! I love how they combined the tracks for each segment of Crisis City into one song!!
Shit is so iconic and I don't even play sonic games
I’ve played my fair share of Sonic games, good and bad but this game is a masterpiece. The music is some of the best I’ve heard
At 0:32 I hear a bit of Dragon Road from Unleashed :p
lol that might be a stretch. but would be so cool. that was my favorite theme in sonic unleashed.
HyperWaveHD Probably the same team that did the ost.
That's probably because of the percussions, Tomoya Ohtani kinda likes that pattern
2:29
When you are on an exam and there's only 5 minutes left and you forgot the answer of the last question
1:03 to 1:25 sounds so damn good I kept replaying over 100 times
Was playing this full blast on the last day of school in class with me and my friend vibing along while everyone else looks at us like we've lost our sanity
Lmao
Did yall naruto run down the halls
@@michaelmiller6675 sonic run*

Bruh wtf is y’all on then?
1:46 don't listen when your drive

Too late
Crisis City (Modern) is the best soundtrack in sonic generations. Change my mind.
cant lie, most of the soundtrack of the game are downgrades of the originals spare a few, though this one definitely is
Its up there but nothing can beat the Big arms remix
Frantic and chaotic, but also sad and desperate.
God, the atmospheric music in Sonic games is so damn good.
This reinterpretation was very good, it took an excellent song and with these violin touches it gave a perfect air to the stage that is already involving by itself
The whole city’s on fire!
Me: uh..no shoot Sherlock! *turns Sonic's head to the city* what gave ya that idea? The lava gysers, or all the smoke?
Understandably, this track is fire.
T H A T T O R N A D O I S C A R R Y I N G A C A R
The car is carrying a tornado
Truly one of the most beautifly flowing peices of game music ever
this honestly sounds like a story in itself
Honestly, if I end up making a super smash bros anime in the future like I want to, I'll hope to use this in some scene in some way. :)
@@justalpha9138u should let me help write the dialogue on dat ngl
@@Morbius-Tension I'd be honored to have someone help me out sometime! I'm currently in the process of writing a short story surrounding this idea, but of course the main story won't be done for a little while. Hopefully I can write it out as a digital comic series soon. :)
@@Morbius-Tension But yeah, I'd love someone to help supervise and take part in my vision in some manner
@@justalpha9138 awesome man hope this goes well in all honesty I ain’t even gonna try and take over yo project just give my insight
Man, I really hope no one turns this into an incredibly hard guitar hero custom; that would be SoInhumane.
Lmao you gave me a laugh
I love sad and hyper the song is. You're racing through a massive disaster and trying your hardest to escape it.
This will forever be my favourite level music in Sonic Generations
I felt like a actual hero playing through this level i wa super locked in playing this in my childhood one of my most favorite sonic games im glad its getting a remaster
Everyone’s talking about the violins, but how could we forget about that piano?!
Sonic: "That tornado is carrying a car"
"That car is carrying a tornado"
"That tornado is carrying the Tornado"
Tails: "Sonic help!"
Nobody:
2020: *THE WHOLE WORLD IS ON FIRE*

the world is yet to be on fire.

"So waddaya do? First, you say no. Then, you get out of there!"
You bring an Uzi...shadow brings a fackin minigun!
Shadow would just bring his DAMN FOURTH CHAOS EMERALD
He brings his big BLACK uzi
“Welcome to California, please enjoy your stay!”
It’s so awesome how they condensed the music from the sky section and the music from the mach speed section into one small part at the end, God Generations got creative with its music
There's honestly nothing i dislike in this perfect piece of music, really. :')
The part where it's just the strings really sends chills down my spine
Perfect strings, perfect beat, perfect E Piano. I fucking love it
Absolute masterpiece. This is the most magnificent song in the entire soundtrack! It’s one of my favourite sonic songs ever actually!
my fondest memory of this one is looping it when i was finishing english essays
Whos ready to revisit this stage in fall 2024
Hell yea!
Me

"You are about to enter the courtroom of Judge Judith Sheindlin. The people are real. The cases are real. The rulings are final. This is Judge Judy."
I heard this track from a playlist and I thought it must be a battle theme from a a fantasy JRPG. Turns out it was freaking Sonic.
Wow, apocalypse music has never sounded so astounding. SO GOOD!
I decided to come back to this. After a looking time. I love sonic generations.
That original version of this song's comment section is carrying an overused joke!
And a car!

Me: 2020 is getting bad
Literally 2020:
POV: It’s 2014 and you woke up early on a Wednesday to perfect your time on Crisis City before you have to go to school.
Memories
this right here but I did chemical plant for some reason
it's so hard for me to choose my favorite version of crisis city. there's the 06 version, which is very cinematic with a lot of movings parts, and then there's the generations version, with the violins having a sense of motion (which makes sense bc it's sonic) and it combines all the awesome parts of the 06 version
You can never go wrong with the violin
I subscribed cause you gave me what I've been looking for for years now, this song, tysm 😌
This is the song that plays when you escape a crumbling city.
Everyone: Yay 2020 is gone, 2021 will be better!
*January:*
You know that might be true
I love that people still comment on this video.
2021: meme of year
January 6 though
Strange isn’t it?
I was the only one that thought 2021 was going to suck
And as I predicted, Yes
Crisis City is literally the entire internet since 2024
1:25 reminds me of the Gen 5 Legendary battle theme from Pokemon.
THE WHOLE CITYS ON FIRE!
veronica miranda That tornado is carrying a car!!!
me: um no shoot Sherlock, *turns Sonic's head to the city* what gave you that idea? The demon fire creatures, or everything else? Lol
@@strigers8007 I was gonna say that😆
Crisis City is my all-time favorite zone in I’d say, any game!
J'avais envie de réecouter ce theme par pure nostalgie et non parce que Savun me la fait rappeler.
this song feels like a constant buildup without a climax for some reason. I don't know how else to explain it but it just feels like a rising tension even though nothing really changes. Im saying that as a good thing
This stage in Generations is so much better and more enjoyable than the entire Sonic O6. It is unreal how enjoyable that stage is. That song is just fantastic !
Lyrics:
*BADASS*
DUDE THIS IS A BANGER! I like those violins!
Saga making games: Useally good or bad
Also Saga making music: Lets make the music so good that everyone likes it more then THE GAMES THEMSELFS
Shit man, sonic may have some shitty games, but the music never fails to please.
Goddammit, 'Boom!
Boom was everything bad about 06, but without a good soundtrack.
When a fucking sonic game cant even get its soundtrack right, you know its fucked.
GlitchyShadow The music was fine, just wasn't really sonic.
GlitchyShadow boom wasn't even made by team sonic, it was just a thing sega said "YEAH MAKE THAT SHIT ITS GON B GREAT" then it was bad
GlitchyShadow Sonic Boom was so bad, it made Sonic 06 look decent.
Out of all the songs this was a great one
The roads in this level actually make sense, when compared to the likes of Speed Highway, The city is in pure ruin, the roads would have to been bent to the point to make loops and ramps out of them.
