Shout out trev for being a real one and level headed and normal and pressing back a little bit. Tight leash, no vlogging, no bullshit and if there’s a whiff of legal issues going forward , have a clause where his contract is terminated. It’s not that difficult. Past issues with other players that got off easier shows the league and owners DONT care. If having Bauer makes their team better I think they consider it for sure. I think small market team it’s worth a shot to give him a deal for 10M just to see what happens. Reds, pirates, A’s and brewers should all consider him although I’m just spit balling. Trev talking about the Bauer season was so spot on and exactly how I feel. Also I’m ok with the Mets offseason. I think slow playing this year is something they need to do. I expect next year they’re more aggressive
It’s clear that Chris Rose has a bias against Bauer. No matter what facts come out, he will always be against him. No point in arguing or trying to convince him with logic
An apology can be construed as an admission of guilty legally. That's why he has to watch what he says, especially in a civil case where the standards are lower.
I don’t think people want him apologizing for false allegations… they want him apologizing for interactions and shit before the court cases. He can apologize for anything he wants that don’t have to do with the case which is what Rose was implying.
It’s clear Chris won’t let his past opinions of a guy ever change no matter what. But he supports teams with players on them that have done and have been charged with far worse…
If you just look at some of the absolute garbage humans that play/played in every big American Sports Leauge, it's crazy to think Bauer won't get another shot. Rose covers Football so he should know more than most they talent outweighs morals to these owners. Watson is just Bauers if he was guilty. KD did the same cyber bullying antics. It's all been done before so this is a super weird take
I’ve been falsely accused, cleared through investigations. Rose if we gave up on people that made mistakes and didn’t give second chances, then the world would be a worse place. People are the greatest resource we have. Love you Rosey.
Trevor Plouffe's answer is exactly the problem and why I think Bauer - unless there are criminal charges in the other cases that I was not aware of either - should pitch in MLB. He was railroaded out of LA and smeared by a person whose intentions were to bilk him for money. I am a Rangers fan, and so unless Corey Seagar, who was his teammate, and CY and Boch come together and decide he's no good for the clubhouse or isn't worth backlash from the misinformed or people with an agenda, I'm on board, and I think the Blaze interviews help a lot of Texas fans feel the same. But I think a team should and will add him to their roster this season. I also think he should sue the hell out of the Dodgers and MLB for because I guarantee there would be emails and deposition to make a case with the Players Association. I don't think Bauer wants that though...I think he just wants to pitch.
Exactly, there's nothing "delicate" about that story, I get Plouffe and everyone else thinks they have to say crap like that to appease those misinformed METOOer's but just speak facts, the evidence was in long ago in that case and MLB should be embarrassed how they handled it.
When did he says the browns qb is a different story? Oh wait, he didn't. Also free trevor bauer? Free him from what? He's not suspended, he's not in jail. You're just an uninformed troll.

@@FTLnovaKid exactly my point literally “preventing” Bauer like Chris is acting like the 2 other lawsuits have proven him guilty. He has complete bias against Bauer. Just think it’s unfair to Bauer like Trevor said to assume like that

Did you listen? Rose doesn't like Bauer for the long list of crap he did even before he went to LA. Rose specifically mentioned the harassing of the woman online, which he never apologized for.
@@yetigonecrazythere was one incident years ago where he went back and forth with a female college student on Twitter, which I’m pretty sure he apologized for at the time. @@ocmel8834 He's fought with and had issues with teammates from UCLA to Arizona to Cleveland and beyond. Remember when he cut his hand fumbling with a drone when his team needed him? Or throwing the ball over the fence instead of giving it to Tito? When Arizona cut him loose because he basically ignored every thing they asked him to do? It's about more than just the women, although that is a problematic issue by itself. His entire mindset of "Trevor first, team second", the very root of who he is, is the reason teams are extremely hesitant to sign him. He's a loose cannon and a liability. He's the Antonio Brown of the MLB.
Rose sounds like a hypocrite. He’s not giving solid points. He’s being emotional and is super closed minded. Trevor is being logical, unemotional and fair.
But Chris, you just said you believe in 2nd chances... Also considering the credibility of those accusers, those on going cases shouldn't block Bauer from coming back to the MLB until he is proven guilty... Otherwise, it'd become too easy for someone to ruin players career. I don't get where you guys are drawing lines to be honest.
Chris Rose had a horrible take. Just say you don’t like him but his reasoning just seems ridiculous. His last contract made him 50 a year. If he was that horrible one of the better franchises wouldn’t have signed him.
Hey Rose why does it seem to be personal? I’ve watched a lot of personalities try to act mad about something (ex Steven a smith) it seems like you are sincerely mad…so I guess my question is why? Was one of the women involved related to you? Did Bauer shit in your pool? I mean jeez
Rosey, you're kidding yourself saying you haven't spoken badly against him. You might not have said the exact words you asked about, but you've clearly believed the allegations from day one and supported him being pushed out immediately and forever. We can be morally just and still hold off our opinions until the next evidence comes out, and judging someone for anti-social club behaviour is exactly why Grienke doesn't have the respect he's due. Bauer is a risk, but at the price you could get a former Cy Young pitcher for, with huge work ethic and skill in the tech craft of the game, he's a perfect buy for a smaller market team who doesn't live or die by their clubhouse feeling like friends, or being a family team for the public. Add in a unique clause that allows for termination on behaviour or public image, and it's smart move.
i like chris rose (have since i first watched IT a decade ago) but his take on Bauer is an L. if the pending case/s come back like the first, he absolutely deserves to be welcomed back, probably with an apology from MLB.
To think Bauer deserves an apology is an L take. He's made his bed from the choices he's made, and they were shitty choices. Dude can be eligible to play sure, but that doesn't mean he should get a contract.
That wasn't the question. The question was, does he pitch next year and his answer was no. From both of them. Then the question was, do you want him on your team if the charges about the current stuff turn out to be nothing, and not sure Trev was asked that one, his answer was more, then sure he should be able to pitch, which was also Rose's answer, but Rose said if he was an owner, its no due to the prior clubhouse cancer stuff which is also well known, and clearly didn't change with the Dodgers so... that's fair I feel like too. But still only takes 1 owner to see things differently than the other 29.

But Bauer isn't close to Barry in talent, and he is in the news in addition to not being liked by teammates... just not worth it for many owners/GMs. Basically, let's assume these other cases go away and he's clear. It’s the unpopular opinion and yes it’s also a biased take but to say you wouldn’t want a guy like Bauer with his history in your clubhouse isn’t a TERRIBLE take
In the sports media world of fake, hot take debate shows and click seeking fake takes, really appreciated the genuine discourse, at times discomfort, between Chris and Trevor on Bauer. It is complicated, and in today's environment every comment you make potentially hits a land mine. But this is how real people talk about such things as there are no easy answers.
If you throw out all the sex stuff from Bauer, he's still a clubhouse problem. He has mountains of baggage. I'm not passing judgement on him, but I wouldn't want him on my team either. Add in his beef with the commissioner, and I doubt it'll happen. Also, didn't he get rocked in Japan? He's probably not the Cy young winner from years ago.

I honestly think Trevor Bauer would be a great signing despite all the controversy. You can probably get him for super cheap and you KNOW he would be playing with a lot of extra fire this year. Dude wants to punish people.
The Mets were a .500 team over the last 50 games of the season, and while their improvements haven't been super exciting, overall they have improved. The core of Nimmo, McNeil, Lindor, Alonso is intact, plus they get Diaz and Marte back, plus the four 2023 rookies now have more experience and less pressure. I don't think 90 wins is likely but it's not unrealistic. 85 could be enough.
Why does no one ever mention, that Mookie mentioned, he liked him as a team mate, and if I recall correctly most of his dodgers teammates wanted him back?
Chris was definitely right about people getting angry about them talking about it. Gotta love the internet. 😮💨 Anyways Bauer was never proven innocent nor was he proven guilty. He is in a tough spot. But I would imagine some team will give him a shot. If not he will just go back to Japan. Also just Betts coming out and defending Bauer is not ironclad evidence that he is not a problem in the clubhouse.
Rays NEED to sign him. They gave matt Bush many chances. Rays dont have fans who care anyway and if ppl go to their games just to boo, then good, they need attendance. They need star power.
I don’t know how ppl’s moral standard could be so low these days that someone who physically hurt another person is allowed to be a public figure and have ppl especially kids potentially looking up to him. Plus only one case was settled, what about the other ones? And what does it mean by settled? That doesn’t prove he didn’t do anything, it just shows the other party is willing to reach a reconciliation with him. As a female baseball fan, I feel extremely uncomfortable watching him, and I absolutely do not want my favourite player to be associated with him in any way.
Looking at the Mets, they made a lot of 1 year deals. If they aren't doing well when July comes along Severino, Bader, Wendel, Tonkin... those are trade pieces to try and acquire a solid young player with. I think that is what they are setting up with these 1 year deals.
But you're not going to get much trading a player who's going to be a free agent at the end of the year. They probably would've done better if they signed them to two year contracts. I don't know... I liked it last year when they paid top dollar for top players.
Scherzer wanted out because they told him they don't expect to compete this year. Rentals packaged together can snag a solid prospect. I wouldn't be surprised to see them make moves in July. Next off season get ready, they're gunna spend on top free agents.
@@Legnerps No but you could get something, a borderline starter, a bullpen arm, a 4th outfielder or borderline starter, a 17 year old IFA signing, maybe even guy whose org is sleeping on him. If you're not expecting to compete this year, then this is something that could help you when you need it. I mean, I think just signing top players would be better, but opting for the rental to trade later isn't a bad move.
The other 2 cases were also settled now. They were him and Lindsey suing each other. Now a team just needs to sign him. He also said he would sign for league minimum with incentives.
Say what you will about the Astros but they are a tope 3 organization look they replced Reddick Springer and Gonzlaez with Reddick Mccormick and Tucker Cole with Vladez Greinke with Javier Osuna with Abreu and Pena for Correa top. 5 for sure
Chris is def a guy that was anti Bauer and he can’t stand that he was completely exonerated. The first case is reported to be the one that was the most “credible” and look how that turned out.
All your law suits and shit would have to be finished for me, as an owner, to even think about bringing you into my club. That being said the media attention this would bring is reason enough for me to not have him come in. And personally I don’t think it’s accurate to just assume that he’s still a good pitcher. Too many question marks imo. Would’ve loved to hear Crose ask Ploufee about what it would’ve been like from a player/clubhouse’s perspective to bring bauer in.
Bauer simps out in full force lol Lets say that Bauer is completely innocent which he probably is, he was a polarizing figure even before the allegations. And the reason the allegations took hold was because of all his previous actions. Everyone was like "yeah that tracks" Bauer admitted his actions were regrettable and now hes regretting it because hes facing consequences. Should he be allowed to play? Absolutely. But does that mean anyone needs to sign him? Not at all. He was a dick in the past and now people dont want him. Thats where we are at today
This exactly! He's a liability. He has the talent to be the centerpiece of a great starting rotation, but can anyone truly be confident that he will be able to start for you the whole year? Can anyone be confident that he won't fuck up again and throw your team's whole season? No. He might as well be a part-time motogp rider. The risk is too high and the rewards don't outweigh it.
Just to clarify: 1. Atlanta got 17M from Boston in the Chris Sale trade, Sale will make 16M this season but Atlanta had to pay him 1M for a ‘trade incentive’ (not sure of the exact term, but because he was traded, his new team had to pay him 1M) 2. Per reports Atlanta and Max Fried have had talks in regard to a contract extension and have done so multiple times ( Fried and Atlanta have also disagreed on arbitration amount the past 2 years, could that have soured their relationship any?). Fried is also the ‘players union rep’ for Atlanta, so that’s another reason he likely has not signed an extension.. there have also been ‘rumors’ that Max wants to go back out West, not sure how much truth are to those reports.
You know the Dodgers have had Freddie calling up Fried, telling him to wait and get paid from the Dodgers. You know damn well they're gonna poach as much talent from Atlanta as possible as it's clearly the biggest threat for many years to come.
If the other 2 were legit cases they’d already be closed. Even the recent accuser was denied a restraining order which almost NEVER happens unless it is believed the person is absolutely lying. Rose is coming off very personally triggered in this take. Trev has a very fair view. Everyone deserves a second chance. Clubhouse cancer? Dude give me a break. There are tons of egotistical assholes in MLB. He just became the scapegoat. As far as suing the MLB…I would strongly assume he is going to do so and will likely win a settlement. Maybe ease up on the holier than thou vibe Rose. You’re better than that.
Love C Rosey but he gets all spastic and loses all reasoning whenever he talks about Bauer props to Trev for staying cool but it’s a tough listen when Rose loses his head to virtue signal
Bauer never gave up any money. The Dodgers paid him while he was in Japan. Bauer will sue MLB if he doesn't get back in but he has to try to get back in before he can say MLB won't let him back in.
MLb should apologist to Bauer . He served and he made amends He does not need to apologize. He should be free to make a living in baseball as a victim of alleged fraud. He vented frustration in public, and that is better than not giving a shit.
My thing with Bauer is, you don’t slip on a banana peel and “mistakenly” abuse at least three women. The problem isn’t the concept of casual sexual relationships, it’s that you can’t restrain yourself when you’re amped up. Good on him for recognizing a pattern and (apparently) taking himself out of it, but come on man. There’s a difference between “yeah I could have been not as sleazy as I was” and “I assault to the point of unconsciousness and beyond”.
It's just basic dangerous to think you can push the limits in this life (as Trevor thought) and not get smacked with blow back you never expected. Better to proceed conservatively in behavior.
I'm saying this as someone who thinks Bauer is innocent: I can agree with Plouffe and Rose here. If those two cases are settled in the same way as the first one, then yeah, Bauer deserves a second chance. But, if I was an owner, like Rose said, I wouldn't want to get him because of all the baggage. If you hire him, you would always have that thought of Bauer doing something that will harm your business' image. Rose isn't saying that he shouldn't be allowed to be played, but he personally wouldn't want him. It's a very messy situation. Also, for those will call him a hypocrite for being a Browns fan, get over yourselves. He's never been a fan of Watson being on that team. Hes publicly said that.
As far as I understand any team can sign Bauer this season. No team has done so yet. Chris and Trevor have different opinions. And somehow half of the comments here are free Bauer, let him pitch, Chris hates him, etc. If Bauer wants to play, but no team wants to sign him, what's everyone's solution? Forcing a team to sign him because? Because he deserves to play? Personally, any team has the right to sign the players they want as long as they adhere to MLB rules and state laws. People can talk about deserve this and that all they want. Playing in the MLB is not a human right.

"we don't want to talk about this..." then proceeds to express his hatred towards Bauer for minutes 😂
You guys shouldn’t discuss topics like this… Rosey can’t handle having these topics.
It’s clear that Chris Rose has a bias against Bauer. No matter what facts come out, he will always be against him. No point in arguing or trying to convince him with logic
nah fr
An apology can be construed as an admission of guilty legally. That's why he has to watch what he says, especially in a civil case where the standards are lower.
I don’t think people want him apologizing for false allegations… they want him apologizing for interactions and shit before the court cases. He can apologize for anything he wants that don’t have to do with the case which is what Rose was implying.
@@Chinchuchwei_srhe’s been doing that though, did you see WFAN from yesterday?
It’s clear Chris won’t let his past opinions of a guy ever change no matter what. But he supports teams with players on them that have done and have been charged with far worse…
Chris takes off the Kings crown and find a clown wig and a big red nose!
He clearly has some sort of petty beef with Bauer. Almost at childish levels.
Chris you hate Bauer just say it
He pretty much did.
Chris was really hard to listen to this episode. Respect to Plouffe on this one
It's all been done before so this is a super weird take
I agree that MLB doesn’t tolerate anything close to what NBA and NFL tolerate, but I don’t know if that’s right or wrong.
@@jonathanemontgomery If Wander Franco ever plays another game of baseball, we'll have the answer
There is still a lot of garbage in Mlb despite being guilty, and Herman to name a few. The reason Bauer will not play, the comissioner hates him

I’ve been falsely accused, cleared through investigations. Rose if we gave up on people that made mistakes and didn’t give second chances, then the world would be a worse place. People are the greatest resource we have. Love you Rosey.
A lot of respect to Trevor for actually talking it out reasonably. Not sure I'll be watching anymore with Rose showing his true colors
The justice system is extremely slow so I think owners/GMs would prefer to wait and see before having to answer questions daily about it.
Exactly, there's nothing "delicate" about that story, I get Plouffe and everyone else thinks they have to say crap like that to appease those misinformed METOOer's but just speak facts, the evidence was in long ago in that case and MLB should be embarrassed how they handled it.
Hey Chris Rose, how about Marcel Ozuna? Is it ok he is playing in the MLB right now ?

I really appreciate that you guys had the bauer conversation one way or the other. This is what we need as baseball fans and as a society.
@ 11:50 Chris you literally contradicted yourself. Trevor was actually the only making sense the first 15 mins of the show
Somewhat, as if rose was a team owner he wouldn’t sign Bauer. I do see the contradiction. The “never prevent someone from working”. But I would assume he is saying that to mean “blackballing” someone.
@@FTLnovaKid exactly my point literally “preventing” Bauer like Chris is acting like the 2 other lawsuits have proven him guilty. He has complete bias against Bauer. Just think it’s unfair to Bauer like Trevor said to assume like that
Chris is all over the place... Feels personal to him.
To clear it up There aren’t “pending legal cases”. There is one pending civil case.
I just want to ask Chris Rose exactly what Bauer must apologize for? He was falsely accused, and his career was ruined because of it, and that’s his fault?
Did you listen? Rose doesn't like Bauer for the long list of crap he did even before he went to LA. Rose specifically mentioned the harassing of the woman online, which he never apologized for.
@@yetigonecrazythere was one incident years ago where he went back and forth with a female college student on Twitter, which I’m pretty sure he apologized for at the time. Since then if he went off on twitter it was normally against the media (not gender specific) or Manfred. Tired of seeing the “attack women” narrative bc it never existed
Nice job Trevor
From everything i've heard out of Trevor Plouffe's mouth on different channels...he's a good man. I'd like to have a friend like TP
A college “kid” is an adult 🙄
Chris Rose had a horrible take. Just say you don’t like him but his reasoning just seems ridiculous. His last contract made him 50 a year. If he was that horrible one of the better franchises wouldn’t have signed him.
I mean, he was pretty openly cheating the year he won cy young.
Damn Rose looks terrible on the Bauer situation😂
Hey Rose why does it seem to be personal? I’ve watched a lot of personalities try to act mad about something (ex Steven a smith) it seems like you are sincerely mad…so I guess my question is why? Was one of the women involved related to you? Did Bauer shit in your pool? I mean jeez
Spot on. He acts like a girl who just got dumped.
'Innocent until proven guilty'
C Rose proceeds to act like every accusation against Bauer is true, smh.
Wow. So much hate from C Rose. It's rather sad.
i like chris rose (have since i first watched IT a decade ago) but his take on Bauer is an L. if the pending case/s come back like the first, he absolutely deserves to be welcomed back, probably with an apology from MLB.

@@j77777r I mean, it's not crazy to not want a guy with a crap ton of baggage and who has been hated by many teammates and organizations on your team. I mean Barry Bonds was a dbag, but he was also one of the best players of all time, so as long as he wasn't in the news, it was worth it. But Bauer isn't close to Barry in talent, and he is in the news in addition to not being liked by teammates... just not worth it for many owners/GMs. Basically, let's assume these other cases go away and he's clear. Imagine being the team that signs him and then he is in the news for something else or the other players don't like him. Not to mention, his production isn't a sure thing. He was his best with sticky stuff and wasn't at that level prior so... stuff changes. I mean look at Tatis. He wouldn't sniff the contact he got after the season he just had, combined with the irresponsibility off the field with injuries, on top of the roid suspension. I think owners or GMs need to be extra reassured on Bauer's situation off the field, and in the clubhouse before signing him, and that's on Bauer at this point.

In the sports media world of fake, hot take debate shows and click seeking fake takes, really appreciated the genuine discourse, at times discomfort, between Chris and Trevor on Bauer. Better question: which club would be open to sign him? Ironically, outside of the Astros I can’t think of one
Though I’m glad they did, I think the Mets probably punted the season away too quickly. Two 84-win teams made the playoffs last year.
Another Chris Rose W
Why does no one ever mention, that Mookie mentioned, he liked him as a team mate, and if I recall correctly most of his dodgers teammates wanted him back?
Yeah Mookie said he was an awesome guy and hopes he gets another shot - definitely counters the “clubhouse cancer” narrative
Doesn’t fit the narrative of Rose
Chris was definitely right about people getting angry about them talking about it. Gotta love the internet. 😮💨 Anyways Bauer was never proven innocent nor was he proven guilty. He is in a tough spot. But I would imagine some team will give him a shot. If not he will just go back to Japan. Also just Betts coming out and defending Bauer is not ironclad evidence that he is not a problem in the clubhouse.
I think I’d rather have Bauer than “Ozuna from the braves”
Preach
Even outside of the abuse he’s still not a great clubhouse guy. Between the lights, his attitude, and his social media presence it could be a problem
God chris rose needs an off button sometimes.

We loved Trevor here in Japan. BayStar Fans only wish him well and hope he gets the opportunity to play at the highest level again.
let bauer come back
Bauer simps out in full force lol
Lets say that Bauer is completely innocent which he probably is, he was a polarizing figure even before the allegations.
Bauer Fanboys😡 out to get you Chris Rose..watch out!!💯🤣🤪
And haters like you who still don’t have any real reason to hate Bauer, other than you’re a damn sheep who’s been told to hate him.
Absolutely excellent episode from two of the best. I love to see you guys disagree professionally and talk through many sides of a situation.

Well I expected better. Disappointed in Chris Rose. Just another example of feelings over facts.

Let Trevor Pitch!
You're still basing your comment on accusations that have been proven false from someone trying to get paid.
@@williamabaker12 I’m actually basing it off the three other accusations that haven’t been taken to court yet, but okay
It's just basic dangerous to think you can push the limits in this life (as Trevor thought) and not get smacked with blow back you never expected. Better to proceed conservatively in behavior.
Chris Rose is full of it. Completely hating based on past behavior clearly owned by the man.
I’m still waiting to hear one awful thing he’s done in the past. All I hear is generic BS.
Agree with Rosie here
I'm saying this as someone who thinks Bauer is innocent:
I can agree with Plouffe and Rose here.
Big Chris Rose fan but it was really hard to see him so adamant and emotional about his stance in Bauer. Cutting off TP nonstop. Rare Rose Loss.
