As a graphic artist who went to art school, we didn’t spent too much time with the Golden Ratio. We used other means like hierarchy, detail, focus and color theory… but ultimately we got the same result. I find it interesting how you can get to the same place with different methods.
The first rule is that you should not use the golden ratio for anything. It's an excellent way to create very boring things to look at. We are not machines and we are not programmed. It's nice to know what the golden ratio is and that's all there is to it. All kinds of art, including design, are dynamic things where a personal touch is very important, it makes us special and different from others. Strict application of various rules would prevent the evolution of design or art, and we would be stuck in a great depression of repetitive crap. So do it the way you feel.
Next video should be “How use the rule of thirds/ grids to make aesthetically pleasing layouts and compositions” I would love to see that next because there’s so much to unpack in this topic with just showing the “How to’s” This topic a mini course or series if you have the time plus with pro tips
Thank you! I studied this in art school and never understand how it's used! This is the first time I ever understand it with applications and everything! Thank you
Man, come on! This is an amazing video. You are teaching better than our teachers. By the way, I am an architect, and years ago, I never thought that graphic design used the golden ratio. Amazing ! Thank you so much ^^
Every time I see your video I always look down at the subscribers wishing it's going to be a million because you have provided such amazing content over the past few years, thanks will.
🙋♀ I found this extremely helpful. Thank you for keeping it practical in this video, as opposed to explaining every detail about where the golden ratio comes from yada yada this is the most useful / helpful / practical video i've found so far on explaining how to apply the theory of the golden ratio to your designs in a way that n00b designers can understand. Good job keep up the good work & thanks for sharing ur wisdom with us!!!!!
19 years designing, i never used golden ratio, i just use my taste of making a design, from graphic, interior, product, 3D, web.. less 25% my artwork get rejected. I always cofused about this golden ratio in design, but you explain it so well. thanks
1) this video blew my mind. Thank you. 2) envato has saved my bum more times than I can count. It isn’t cheating since you can customize a lot of it. I’m at a nonprofit and small, so in a pinch it REALLY helps.
Very interested in using the golden ratio in design. Thanks for the advice. One question about your explanation: when you add 1 and 1 to make 2 around 1:20, they dont't add up volume wise.. Same for 1 and 2 etc. Could you explain that?

the new thing I know today Divide text size by 1.168 that`s really helpful.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, Sir 🙏🥤🥤
Is there a way to use this for a square image. Do i need to use lots of golden ratios?
finally lesson 5
Love this video! Any video that goes into the deeper levels of graphic design is interesting to me. :-)
Glad you enjoyed it!
outstanding !
I enjoyed this video I must say, The best for me so far...
Thank you!
thank you 👊

would love to know how you define lines width' when you have straight lines in a logo

why do you copy the circle if you resize it again :D, 6:10
The golden ratio in the logo symbol is something in vain, and in the end what you have to believe is your eyes, not numbers
its just a guide, but if it ruins the shape , what for ?
that's pretty cool, thanks
Super usefull. And Super thanks
what is the name of that book behind you, Sir ?
