Thanks for another great video! I shall end up doing the brushless conversion on mine I'm sure, when I get bored or bust the stock electronics. 👍 You're kids are a real credit to you, and are decent drivers to.
I wish everything goes well with your new home and I was really looking forward for this video from you bcuz the reason I bought the 2995 is bcuz of your videos of it ,, well thanks job also on this video can't wait until the next one 👍💯💯
I haven’t checked in a while for a new site since it doesn’t break much lol, but I was getting them from Haiboxing-hobby.com. You may need to send them a message on the site to tell them what part you need if it’s not listed.
I’d love to know how many tries it takes to get those battery fills and truck throws to land so perfectly! Your edits are hilarious, very entertaining. Thumbs up, always! You really should have like 10k+ subscribers! PS - May sound basic, but for newbies (like me), how about a video on how to properly clean your RC? I presume you can’t just open it up and spray it down, much less scrub it down (maybe with a toothbrush in small areas).
Lol Always the first try of course! Sometimes I have to go through like 5 minutes of tries to find the perfect ones lol: Thanks man! The channel is growing pretty rapidly right now. Last May I had just hit 1,000 and said I’d like to hit 5,000 by this coming May. At the current trajectory, I’ll make it so hopefully no slow downs! I may do an RC clean video soon!
Congratulations on selling your house Evan! Best wishes at the new one bud🤙🏽. Your so right about these platforms. They are tough as they come, but lack in the power department. I’ve got one I’m going to keep more or less stock(2995) for neighborhood kids, and on my Bezgar version of this is going brushless with oil shocks! Like you said under $225, these versions are a hard one to beat! Awesome video brother! Best wishes to the family!
Ok burnt the brushed motor on my deerc 9206e so time for my first attempt to convert to brushless. All went well except for meshing the gears. On my 3rd attempt getting it right. Thanks again for the great videos!!! Looking forward to new ones.
I've been in RC only 1 year, and still I got the gear mesh too tight yesterday. I'd say more than most things, gear mesh is hard, especially because even on bigger trucks you still can't smash your eye right up to the gears to see how good the mesh is. Too loose and you risk stripping the gears. Too tight and the binding will cause extra heat in ESC and motor. One thing that does help over time is you will get a good idea of how the gears sound when the mesh is good. Too loose and too tight are noisier in different ways. Happy bashing.
Whats the difference now between this upgraded flyhall and a stock 2996A? I am new to the hobby and just subscribed to your channel. Thinking about those to alternatives, (first I was into hyper go or 16889a pro, but I think I want a bigger truck)
With the truck, motor/esc, shocks, BIG wheels, transmitter/receiver, and pinion gear, it’s around $247 or so. But I think the coupon code in the video description is still active which might bring it lower.
Man, you manage to cram in a lot of good info into your videos, very nice! I still haven't pulled the trigger on this one, I have a few other projects to clear first, but really looking forward to creating a maniac RC car out of one of these. All the best with your move, dude!
Thanks!! I try to make them useful and fun at the same time. The car is worth it once you get to it. Feel free to use the links I provided when you’re ready 👍
Great content, as always! I got myself a Kraton 6s and I'm spending WAY more time fixing it than driving it. Breaks (almost) every time I drive it. I wish I had known your channel prior to the purchase!
Thanks!! Ya I ended up putting around $600 into my Kraton which made it much stronger and more fun, but man is that an expensive machine now lol! I do have several videos on my Kraton 6s if you haven’t seen them but I run my cheaper ones way more often! Thanks!!
@@DerbyCityRC I've watched them, tried to figure out what's the MVP upgrades I should do. If you have any advice regarding this topic I'd very much appreciate it. Right now it's not even operational (ESC blinking red and throttle isn't working) and I'm trying to get it resolved... When it runs, it's a beast, but these breaks are killing me. Would most likely just buy one of your cheap builds - waiting for black friday. BTW - great potential content (black friday deals) idea?? :) Keep up the awesome work man, I have no idea how you're only at 2k subs I'm sure you'll explode soon.
That’s a hard question cuz I broke all kinds of stuff and almost all the parts I’ve put on it seem to work together to keep it strong. A lot of them I just replaced as they broke. However I haven’t had issues with electronics yet. I thought I did at one point but it was where I pinched a wire.
Make sure your lug nuts are tight my tire fell off and I need to order tire nut and I not sure what it’s called but a brass pice the goes on before the trie and a tool to tighten the tires
I have the Yoncher YC400 from amazon its 95$ currently and the exact same truck. I plan to do a similar upgrade but thinking about a 3500kv brushless motor and 80a esc capable of 4s(goolrc most likely) Im going to use that same pinion u have. I cant wait to see the results.
I need a push have a hard time Choosing between this and Hosim Brushless RC Cars 1:10 High Speed 68+KM Remote Control Car X-07 4WD Off Road RC Monster Trucks and this one never order anything on banggood before and they are the only one I can order this truck and parts don’t seem available for this one
Banggood accepts PayPal and I’ve never had an issue. I do think they’re both good, but I have a feeling the Flyhal will be much more durable over time. Just get that Hobbywing kit I linked for it as well. Also don’t forget I have a coupon code on the truck ok with my link. The Hosim is faster out of the box, and was certainly fun, but it doesn’t have a center differential, and that does make a difference.
I’ll definitely do some sort of tour and show my work set up. I can also talk about tools too. I don’t really take too many items with me, but typically basic tools like pliers and screwdrivers. Wheel nut wrench. Body clips, axle pins, wheel hexes and nuts, usually rubber bands and extra Velcro straps. Maybe some other extra parts like axles if I have them. Also I usually bring more than one car in case the first one breaks lol
Hey I’m looking to do this for my first rc, after watching some of your videos. The hobby wing is sold out and I’m gonna go with the other one. But there’s another version of the same motor that has 4000kv. Do you hink it would be just as reliable as the 3300kv brushless motor? They are also the same price. Thank you
Have you had the steering servo saver break on these cars? Mine just cracked the other day. Not sure the 9kg servo is enough for larger tires. Seems like all the replacement servos come with metal servo savers instead of the plastic ones that these come with stock.
I've seen a Flyhal truck on either Discipline RC or maybe possibly Rek RC, and he beat the beJeebus out of that truck at the skate park, and the whole time you could hear the truck screaming for more. It sounded like Alvin and the Chipmunks, in case you were wondering what its voice was like. Just exactly like a chipmunk screaming for more nuts because winter is fast approaching.
Hello there, I love your videos. I have the exact same truck and would like to do the same upgrades you did. Im new to this and not sure where to start. Would you post the links and part numbers to the motor, pinion gear, esc, oil shocks and dumborc remote? I think my esc burned out and two of my shocks broke. If i am going to fix I would love to upgrade. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Tap on the name of the video, right under the picture (if you're using a phone to watch this) and a bunch of text will pop up. Tap "more" near the bottom of the text (bottom right) and you'll find all the links. The links are always in the video description. They're blue text. It's not hard to find. This man is busy and can't post the links a second time if you can't find them, I can't help you. The links are all there.
My friend Mr cat boogie left some instructions above. UA-cam recently made it harder to enter the full description, but he’s those links should all be there. Hope that helps!!
did you mess with the esc punch settings ? I did the cheaper brushless setup you listed and mine cogs a little at start on 2s lipo but no cog using 3 s lipo. i put the large tires on with 25mm hub extender. i love this upgrade it turned this truck into a beast. i need a wheelie bar now, but i cant find one.
So this car is based off of the hbx 2995 while the smyter is based off the hbx 903a. This car has a center differential and the 903a/Smyter does not. They do look very similar. The big tires are goofy, but they will wear out the drivetrain quicker on the Smyter than they will on this because the center differential helps take load off the drivetrain. But I agree you still need them!! 😄
@@DerbyCityRC dude you are a book of good info. thanks bro that's really gonna help when buying parts and i do prefer the look of the 903a body better than the smyter turbo one.. looks more low profile i think.🤔 but my next project is more speed from my Deerc 9201e 🤩 its my new fave because its bigger 😎👍
My wife just bought me the DeeRC 9201e....i just wanted to clarify before I start buying stuff that these upgrades will fit on my truck??? Maybe do a before and after upgrade video on the deerc truck.....i just found you on UA-cam so its possible that you do have that video
Yes they will all fit. This esc is a bit bigger than the ones I’ve used on the Deerc’s so it may not tuck in as neatly. Here’s a very old video that might show you a comparison. ua-cam.com/video/9E3rVUqnNwc/v-deo.html Oh and the is one too! ua-cam.com/video/NFqQvoqBUbs/v-deo.html I’ll also be doing a comparison type video of my 9201e vs an Arrma Senton pretty soon. Lol
Hi love your videos. I've just got three of the flyhal fc610 for my boys and I to upgrade and bash around with after seeing your take on this range. Do you know if there is a wheelie bar that fits these?
Sorry for the late response. I don’t know of one, but I’ve heard of people getting the wheelie bar for the HBX 903a and modifying it slightly to fit. I’ll be trying that soon.
I can’t remember for sure, but I think the Hobbywings come without a connector so you can solder on the one you want. I went with xt60s. I like these batteries a lot. You can get them with deans or with xt60s amzn.to/3huK0aS amzn.to/3hqfXAZ I believe you need to cut out that partition wall between the esc and battery tray on the 2995/fc610.
Thanks! No overheating issues with that. I was pretty impressed. It was pretty warm but nothing detrimental. I still recommend Hobbywing, but for the price that motor I used here is great!
the pinion gear link is nothing like yours, it shows a pack of pinions 15-17t which is fine but I noticed in the video yours had a sort of collar you used but I do not see that in the pack. Is a program card needed for the motor combo?
That’s weird! I just checked it and it brings me to the correct page. Try typing in “Hot Racing 16T .6 mod” I did not use a program card. I think I tried to use one I had, but this esc doesn’t have the correct port. The way you see it in the video is the way it came out of the box 👍
Dunno if you remember my whinge about about my xmas present to myself of a fc610 + eventual (quick) upgrade to brushless etc, being lost by aliexpress or the company that sold it through them. Ok, now normally I could hit a dispute button......but.......although the company selling it messaged me half a dozen times with 'no stock' and sometimes 'cancel order' I could not due to somehow the item being marked as shipped. This changes things, the dispute button disappeared (cuz it shipped) and I guess it will not reappear until after the longest possible delivery time + a extra week or two just to be sure. I was told by a Ali-E computer the item was shipped so i could not appeal until sometime in the middle of February. Talking to aliexpress is impossible....well without a dispute button it is. Anyway I bought a Flyhal fc600 brushless and a ton of larger batteries (actually the ones i think you suggested in one video and in a later video you said they both died so DO NOT get them lol (ugenex i think) well they are both doing well. \o/ While realising that the flyhal fc600 is amazing i do not want to try 3s without a better ESC that will squeeze in ........ideas?? The flyhal has that RED esc/receiver thingy, I am sure it must be in some of your other cars. Lastly I decided I wanted to get a Rival MT 10 but I saw there was a v2 coming (which is not as good it turns out) and my impatience got the better of me so I bought a ARRMA Granite, not the latest v3 but the earlier v2 with a little discount. Proper charger and a couple of 5000mah 2s batteries and it is awesome. (almost scared to try 3s in that, it is quick enough in 2s to self destruct, well on the concrete with kerbstones outside my house it is, maybe later in a better area with more space) The flyhal is going 3s, I just want a smallish but capable and not expensive esc. My plan is to get a dumbo xt6 with avc or whatever and stick it in the Granite, and the use the granites reciever/controller with the new esc in flyhal Hope you are ok , hey Max 🚕🚗🏎🚓 ps. I feel like you cost me a getting on for 1000$..........your damnn videos brought back all my Tamiya Pajero and Fox memories from my childhood. 😘
That stinks about Ali express! I’ve never bought from them cuz of stories I’ve heard like this. Banggood has been great so far. I haven’t tried a different esc in the little 1/16 scales yet. I have put 3s in them and it seems like if you keep it below a 35c, it may be ok. I have a 35c and mine cuts out at full throttle, but other people say it works perfectly with 3s and a 25-30c battery. The Urgenex ones did go out on me pretty quickly so they sent me two more lol. So far one of those has gone out but I used it quite a bit. I’ve been going for the ovonics and the Gens ace batts lately. They seem a little better. Glad I’ve helped you spend money on some awesome stuff 🤣🤣 Other people have told me the same thing lol Not to mention I make myself spend money. 😂😂 Thanks for watching!!
Hay man, I just upgraded my flyhal fc610 with a 5200kv motor and a 120 esc. I put everything on but it sounds pretty bad. I put a 16t pinion and a 17t pinion and both of them lost their teeth. How can I fix it?! 😢
To help save a little more money, and avoid having to get another transmitter, what do you think about using the hbx 901a brushless esc and motor in the Flyhal fc610? Do you think that esc and motor would suffice with the monster truck wheels on the Flyhal?
What’s up Derby City! So I got the Flyhal fc 610 I’m looking at the hobbywing max10 combo. I also got the big tires and spacers you linked in the video. My question is, should I go with the 3300kv or the 4100kv and what would the benefits and drawbacks of ether. I’m just getting back into the hobby and I don’t really know anything about brushless motors. As a matter of fact this is my first RC in probably 15 years. I’m loving it and I got my brother back into it also!
Hey man! I think I would stick with the 3300kv to help avoid heat issues and cogging with the big tires. Have you seen this video? ua-cam.com/video/GvNNjAeEn10/v-deo.html It’s a 3300 Hobbywing and is absolutely insane. The whole video is only with a 2s battery. The higher kv motors potentially have a higher top speed, but less low end torque, so it puts more strain on the system and causes more heat. Such an awesome combo!
@@DerbyCityRC Awesome! That’s exactly what I wanted to hear. I talked to a guy at the local hobby shop and as soon as I told him what truck I had he didn’t really want to talk. I didn’t have a brand name that he sold so he wasn’t interested. Thank you very much for the quick response and the advice!
Love all your vids on budget bashers. And appreciate you replying to comments. I have a small skatepark nearby. And it’s too small for my Arrma 6s RCs. If I want ONE 1/12 or 1/14 basher. Which out of box RC for skatepark flips and tricks?
Thanks and you’re welcome! If you’re open to upgrades, I’d definitely say the hbx 2995 with all my upgrades to it. Straight out of the box, probably the HBX 903a. I don’t have the 903a but I have similar versions to it. Not as durable as the 2995 or the 1/16 scales, but still very good. The Flyhal in this video is almost exactly the same as the 2995, so what I did in this video is good too.
I agree! Both are better than the Flyhal body. With the popularity, I think we will see several more iterations come out. I cannot believe a brushless version hasn’t been released yet.
Can you just replace the motor without replacing the esc? and if so would the motor for the 2997a work? or what brushless motor with no esc upgrade would you recommend for the FC610?
Unfortunately you can’t pair a brushless motor with a brushed system esc. They’re completely different. You would need the motor, esc, and a new receiver and transmitter.
First off, I appreciate and enjoy your style and honest reviews. Congrats on new house! To the point: which would you recommend, the upgraded fc610 or the hosim x07? Hosim seems to have great out of the box performance but I'm intrigued by the FC center diff. Thoughts, I'd appreciate your expert(ish lol) opinion since you have both. Thank you! And happy new year!
Thanks! Definitely glad you like the videos. I haven’t run my x07 enough to know for sure, but I’m betting pretty heavily that the fc610 is more durable. That center diff is serious business lol. Every RC should have one. The Hosim is definitely higher performance out of the box, but the upgrades I put on the fc make it comparable. If you decide to go the Hobbywing option, it goes well beyond the x07 and still keeps its durability. Happy new year to you too!!
Well I usually do, but I sometimes have issues with it staying attached. I really just need some better quality double side tape, but also fun to just try some new ideas. I’m sure eventually the foam will start to tear.
Really can’t believe the abuse this truck takes love hbx I have 1/12th scale buggy it was like $75 from youncher cause I liked the cage style it’s basically 905 it had metal drive shaft & diffs but plastic cups & wheelshafts I spent like $27 to get metal diff cups & shafts went with a 2845 bL setup and hbx bL 3in1 receiver for $20 an old 9156 xilihoang transmitter works & that has a lot more adjustment than the hbx haven’t clocked it yet but on 3s think it’s around 45mph I had that same bL setup & that moter u put in the FC & it will take 4s like crazy no prob just need a good 120a esc then it will really tear up that FC600 lol tks for vids
Honestly they will probably work fine. You can angle the driveshafts pretty severely without any binding, plus you could always use different mount holes. Do you have a link? I’m interested in the ones you’re using. Thanks!
I love my 2995 but was thinking abut getting a kraton or Erevo. I know you have a kraton but do you have an Erevo too? Would love to see a vid if you do!
Hey man can I ask you which spacers did you use for the 16889a with the 1/10 tyres? I got into the link but I got a little confused since there’s sizes between 12mm and 25mm
Hey Derby City RC, I copied your Build. I bought the tires, the shocks, the remote control from Dumborc and I bought the motor. But I was not so patient while looking at your video before my order. Now I have a question left. What else do I have to buy, if I want to keep the LEDs active? Do I need the dumborc x6dc? It would be great, if you can help. #Derby City RC
Unfortunately I’m not really sure. The 6 channel dumbo shouldn’t make a difference since only two channels get used. My lights never last that long so I never really worry about them lol
@@DerbyCityRC Yeah thanks, I already like the build, even If I only attached the wheels yet and started to use a 3s Lipo. But I think the back differential broke today... I am not sure. But when I rotate the back wheel on one side, the opposite site is not moving. And alltogether the whole car is not driving anymore. No power at the wheels. I think I have to repair the car, but I don't know, where to start.
That’s a good thought, but the flexible plastic is what makes it durable. When you go metal, you can break other things. Rarely do I recommend that for suspension parts.
Mate just bought the fc610, what a machine!for 85 euros this thing is just unbeaten! could you please tell me the mod of the pinion or better give the link? Thanks a lot! Tour of the new house is a must!😉
What truck would you recommend for a first truck for my 8 year old? I am looking for one that is decent on speed and durable out of the box but also has wide variety of upgradeable parts as he becomes better with it. I am looking to get one for him for Christmas.
That’s great! What do you think of the one in this video? It’s one of the most durable ones out there. Starts off around 17 miles per hour, then as you may have seen, with the set up I used here, it hits 30, which is plenty fast! Another great starter truck is the HBX 16889a pro. That one is quite quick out of the box, you can turn the speed down for your kid when first starting if you thought you needed to. Only thing is it’s a little smaller. I have a ton of reviews on alot of cars, but here is that video if you want to check it out. ua-cam.com/video/-IpJ3eGlsOY/v-deo.html
@@DerbyCityRC I was really wanting to get him a 1:10 scale truck. I would not completely eliminate this truck in the video out of the equation, it seems like a decent RC truck. I know this truck is listed at a 1:10 scale but you and many others have said it was more like a 1:12 scale. Do you recommend any true 1:10 scale that is just as dependable and upgradeable?
1:10 scale starts going up in price quite a bit for anything good. I do highly recommend the Team Associated Rival MT10, but it seems to be quite hot this year and is out of stock at the moment. I’ve got a couple videos on it. You may be able to catch if you keep checking. What would you say your budget is?
Personally, I think it will be tough to find a decent truly scaled 1:10 for that. This is as close as I can find that I think would be decent. It’s brushed so can always be upgraded to brushless later. amzn.to/3ihoxCH I don’t own one of these, but I’ve heard good things.
With the bigger tires, I feel this one has better handling and will be less prone to breaking. If you can swing it, I recommend the Hobbywing kit over the cheap motor/esc I used in this video. All of it is linked in the description
Trying to upgrade a deerc 9206e to brushless. I got a s3650 3500kv motor, 60a esc, the servo you recommended, new transmitter and receiver. Put a 64t spur gear with a 18t pinion. ( only pinion that would fit with the crappy motor mount) Everything seems to run fine when it's on a stand. Once wheels are on and put on ground it doesn't go. I've watched videos and taken this car apart 2000000000 times. I'm not giving up!! Is there anything you can think of that I've done wrong? I'm not smart with the gear thing and I feel confident I have the mesh right. I'm just lost in the sauce on this. HELP!!!!
@DerbyCityRC I got the gear mesh right after a few attempts. The car is crazy fast and still in one piece. Painted the clear body black on the inside of the body and put grip tape on top of body cause it likes to flip and slide on roof. Gonna get that liquid gravity stuff to add some weight and better shocks on it and see how it goes. Appreciate you responding!! Can't wait to see if I win the "Evan style Granite"!!! Take care and looking forward to more videos!!
Now im confused. Sorry still new to rc. The pack of tires that you recommend come with12mm hex. How did you fit 15mm? Does 12 not work? I ran with stock pins and lost a wheel immediately 😂 Any advice will help 🙏
No problem! The 15mm is the length. Like how much it will push the wheels out away from the car. The hex size is still 12mm. When that happens I usually use loctite lol
Thanks! I would have to say this one! amzn.to/3G5zl0B I’ve got a couple videos on it. Very solid car and awesome handling! 26 mph on 2s but also 3s capable.
Are you needing to buy a new house to accommodate your RC hobby?! More trucks, more ramps, more space. ;) I can hear it with your wife for the move, “Honey I’ll move all our RC stuff and you handle the rest of the house.”
Dude, it is unacceptable to upload irregularly, due to puny reasons, like a house swap 🤣 Just kidding, always makes me smile, when people are overly apologetic on YT. Your channel, your rules. Thanks for all the shins, that were scraped to the bone 😂
I’ve run it a few more time so an e this video. I had to revalue the esc foam one more time as it was starting to tear, and I broke the little plastic servo arm on a bad jump. Love this truck for sure. I do recommend the Hobbywing or Spektrum motors over the budget kit if you can swing it.
I haven’t ran mine too much yet. Definitely a decent car. I hear complaints about differentials more than anything else. I did break a pin in my front diff when I ran it on big tires with a 3s battery. Big crashes can break the plastic parts too. Decent plastic materials but not as good as HbX plastic.
@@DerbyCityRC thank you. I'm liking the hbx 16889a pro with that bigger battery. I'll make sure to use your banggood links when I order. I appreciate all your help.
● BATTER INFO● = hey buddy- I found a 3s battery on Amazon that almost fits in the battery tray of the 16889a Pro! Just barely sticks up, but with the trucks strap, never had it come out on me, and I bash the hell out of it at the skatepark. Venom Fly 3s 800mah. Now I know it's low mah, but the run time isn't bad, & that pro is INSANE on it- you nail the gas, it comes ALIVE‼️🦾🦾 now they have the jst plugs on them, so I had to get a pack of adapters- amazon has them too. They are smaller in person than they look in the pictures. 👍👍

Ok burnt the brushed motor on my deerc 9206e so time for my first attempt to convert to brushless. All went well except for meshing the gears. On my 3rd attempt getting it right. Thanks again for the great videos!!! Looking forward to new ones.
Sorry for the late response here lol
You’re welcome bro!!
I wish you and your family Good luck in your new home. Looking forward to seeing more videos from there 🎉
Thanks so much!! 😃

I appreciate the input on my channel. If keeps growing so just keep watching, liking, and sharing! That’s what helps the most. Thanks!!
Make sure your lug nuts are tight my tire fell off and I need to order tire nut and I not sure what it’s called but a brass pice the goes on before the trie and a tool to tighten the tires
Ya I started using loctite to keep them on. That definitely helps
Yup I’ve seen that truck too!
Sounds like an awesome motor choice
😁😁
Any updates on that conversion?
cool video, congrats on the new house
Thanks! Much appreciated!
HI,I am thinking of getting a hbx 16889a pro what will you recommend
I have quite a few videos on the 16889a pro. Have you seen any of them? Good recommendations for tires and other stuff.
If I put it on 3s will it be fine
Hard to say for sure lol
1:00 nice throw!
Lol thanks!
Thanks I just ordered it
Awesome! Good choice!
Was starting to wonder where you'd gone, congrats on selling your house... onwards and upwards for your family and hopefully your YT channel 👍
Thanks!! So far so good!! Always appreciate the views, likes, and shares!! 🤘😎👍
When you get your new work area, will you show how you set it up and what tools a new RC owner should have?
Also what is best in a travel kit for quick repairs in the field?
Thank you
Got a link to shock oil and gear oil?
Have you had the steering servo saver break on these cars? Mine just cracked the other day. Not sure the 9kg servo is enough for larger tires. Seems like all the replacement servos come with metal servo savers instead of the plastic ones that these come with stock.
I have not broken any servos on these yet. I agree a stronger one certainly wouldn’t hurt and would improve performance 👍
Haha! Yes these are tough!
Thank you.
All those links you want are in the video description.
Thanks for always helping out buddy!! ❤️
My friend Mr cat boogie left some instructions above. UA-cam recently made it harder to enter the full description, but he’s those links should all be there. Hope that helps!!
Thanks guys. If I would open my eyes up some I might see it. lol
did you mess with the esc punch settings ? I did the cheaper brushless setup you listed and mine cogs a little at start on 2s lipo but no cog using 3 s lipo. i put the large tires on with 25mm hub extender. i love this upgrade it turned this truck into a beast. i need a wheelie bar now, but i cant find one.
No I didn’t mess with my settings on that cheaper esc. Yes I haven’t found a wheelie bar either. May make my own lol
thanks for sharing, i was wondering what some good shocks would be, I like those
Yes they work great!
this looks just like my Blackzon smyter brushless. even has the same lights on top i need those big wheels like yours 😁👌
@jamesbatso4092 glad I can help, bro!! 😃
What steering servo do you recommend for this setup?
I need one badly but I haven’t looked into it yet. Let me know if you find a good one!
Here’s a very old video that might show you a comparison. ua-cam.com/video/9E3rVUqnNwc/v-deo.html
Oh and the is one too! ua-cam.com/video/NFqQvoqBUbs/v-deo.html
I’ll also be doing a comparison type video of my 9201e vs an Arrma Senton pretty soon.
@@DerbyCityRC no worries 👍. You are a busy guy.
I ended up making a 903a wheelie bar fit.
@benjaminplieger17 sweet!! 😃
I love to watch this vid waiting for my fc610 to come 😁💪
Happy to hear that!!!
@@DerbyCityRC 🤘
what, i didn't know about the 2 differnt pinion size, makes sense why the fc610 with big tires is so slow LOL
Lol I know. I was expecting it to be faster, but it still clocked higher than the 2995 if I remember right.
Hope you get settled soon, congrats!
I pretty much bought everything you mentioned 😂
Thanks!!
Haha! Sounds like your RC car is gonna be awesome!!
@@DerbyCityRC hey, can you recommend a specific battery for the Hobbywing setup?
What connector are you using?
@@DerbyCityRC Dean's Tplug, but I believe Hobbywing comes with xt90
I can’t remember for sure, but I think the Hobbywings come without a connector so you can solder on the one you want. I went with xt60s.
I like these batteries a lot. You can get them with deans or with xt60s
amzn.to/3huK0aS
amzn.to/3hqfXAZ
I believe you need to cut out that partition wall between the esc and battery tray on the 2995/fc610.
Have you thought about tryout out any of the redcat RC’s?
Yes I’ve thought about it and probably will soon!!
Fantastic video, and congrats on the new house!
Did you have any overheating issues after adding those larger tires?
Thanks! No overheating issues with that. I was pretty impressed. It was pretty warm but nothing detrimental.
I still recommend Hobbywing, but for the price that motor I used here is great!
Cool video! Just want to ask if I could use the just oversized tires on my stock car ? Thanks
I haven’t tried unfortunately, but it would probably work pretty decently lol. Hard to say for sure
the pinion gear link is nothing like yours, it shows a pack of pinions 15-17t which is fine but I noticed in the video yours had a sort of collar you used but I do not see that in the pack.
Is a program card needed for the motor combo?
That’s weird!
I just checked it and it brings me to the correct page. Try typing in “Hot Racing 16T .6 mod”
I did not use a program card.
While realising that the flyhal fc600 is amazing i do not want to try 3s without a better ESC that will squeeze in ........ideas?? The flyhal has that RED esc/receiver thingy, I am sure it must be in some of your other cars.
Lastly I decided I wanted to get a Rival MT 10 but I saw there was a v2 coming (which is not as good it turns out) and my impatience got the better of me so I bought a ARRMA Granite, not the latest v3 but the earlier v2 with a little discount. Proper charger and a couple of 5000mah 2s batteries and it is awesome. (almost scared to try 3s in that, it is quick enough in 2s to self destruct, well on the concrete with kerbstones outside my house it is, maybe later in a better area with more space)
The flyhal is going 3s, I just want a smallish but capable and not expensive esc. My plan is to get a dumbo xt6 with avc or whatever and stick it in the Granite, and the use the granites reciever/controller with the new esc in flyhal
Hope you are ok , hey Max 🚕🚗🏎🚓
ps.
Glad I’ve helped you spend money on some awesome stuff 🤣🤣
Other people have told me the same thing lol
Not to mention I make myself spend money. 😂😂
Thanks for watching!!
i need a front bumper for Flyhal FC610 .where can i buy this part please
Check Haiboxing-hobby.com and look for the bumper for the hbx 2995. Send them an email if it’s not on the website. That bumper will work!
Hay man, I just upgraded my flyhal fc610 with a 5200kv motor and a 120 esc. I put everything on but it sounds pretty bad. I put a 16t pinion and a 17t pinion and both of them lost their teeth. How can I fix it?! 😢
5200kv is pretty high for that truck.
Also, sounds like maybe the tooth pitch was wrong. They need to be a MOD 0.6
'Luckily we have like, a thousand more of these things!' 😂
Lol! It’s true!! Different colors and all!
To help save a little more money, and avoid having to get another transmitter, what do you think about using the hbx 901a brushless esc and motor in the Flyhal fc610? Do you think that esc and motor would suffice with the monster truck wheels on the Flyhal?
Maybe worth a shot. Hard to say for sure, but it would probably be pretty hard on that esc.
Have you seen this video? ua-cam.com/video/GvNNjAeEn10/v-deo.html
It’s a 3300 Hobbywing and is absolutely insane.
Ya the shops usually don’t care about the “Chinese junk” but this truck is far from junk. Glad I could help!
I’m absolutely loving this little truck! I’m so glad I took your recommendation (among others) I can’t wait to upgrade it and turn it into a monster!
I can’t wait for you to either!! 😃
@@DerbyCityRC thanks for the insight. I love the look of the 2995. I also like the Yoncher 400 paint scheme. The mini version of XMaxx rock n roll. 😎
I agree! Both are better than the Flyhal body. With the popularity, I think we will see several more iterations come out. I cannot believe a brushless version hasn’t been released yet.
So Can i do these upgrades with the YONCHER YC400, is it the same thing?? I’m curious because the yoncher is a cheaper option then the flyhal for me.
Yup this bad boy here! (As you already know) looks like it’s almost sold out and yes it’s the same car!
amzn.to/43jxAWx
In my opinion I wouldn’t use the double sided tape to keep the ESC down
I mean I would
Well I usually do, but I sometimes have issues with it staying attached. I really just need some better quality double side tape, but also fun to just try some new ideas. I’m sure eventually the foam will start to tear.
Ok
Thinking about changing from 80a esc to 120a esc. But is there any way that I can change to a smaller sper gear and a bigger pinion gear on my 2995?
Nice! Unfortunately there is no easy way to make thy work as far as I know. A company would have to design a spur gear for that purpose.
Sweet! That all sounds awesome!!
Glad you like the vids 🤘😎👍
Hey dude I see you used 80mm eye to eye shocks you think 92m eye to is too long?
Honestly they will probably work fine. You can angle the driveshafts pretty severely without any binding, plus you could always use different mount holes. Do you have a link? I’m interested in the ones you’re using.
Thanks!
On the 16 tooth you can use a 17 tooth
Thats interesting. You’ve tried it without issue?
@@DerbyCityRC yes I run 17t

I love my 2995 but was thinking abut getting a kraton or Erevo. I know you have a kraton but do you have an Erevo too? Would love to see a vid if you do!
I don’t have an erevo, but I do love my Kraton!! This is my exact one here minus I have a lot of upgrades on it.

Hope you like the build otherwise!!
Well that’s no fun.
Gotta make the motor turn and see where the problem is. May have to take off the rear diff cover
Are there Metal upgrades for this if so can I help me find them thanks
Not that I’ve seen yet.
Are you having issues with something breaking? Metal can actually be a bad move in some cases.
@@DerbyCityRC no I just thought I could make it less likely to break by upgrading the parts to Metal
That’s a good thought, but the flexible plastic is what makes it durable. When you go metal, you can break other things. Rarely do I recommend that for suspension parts.
This is a lot of truck for the money out of the box 17 miles and hour is not slow for RC truck
Glad you like it man!! I agree, it’s a great choice!
Do the shocks in the link come as a set or are they individual?
It’s a set of two shocks. 😀
Are RC as easy to work on as you make it look
I hope so lol. I have a pretty extensive mechanical background so that probably helps a bit too lol

Is it easy to pair the control
Yes the controller comes with the receiver so no pairing needed. Plug and play
@@DerbyCityRC
I was really wanting to get him a 1:10 scale truck.
I was wanting to stay under $200 of possible
Personally, I think it will be tough to find a decent truly scaled 1:10 for that.
This is as close as I can find that I think would be decent. It’s brushed so can always be upgraded to brushless later.
amzn.to/3ihoxCH
I don’t own one of these, but I’ve heard good things.
How dose this compare to Hosim x07 on the fence witch one to buy
With the bigger tires, I feel this one has better handling and will be less prone to breaking. If you can swing it, I recommend the Hobbywing kit over the cheap motor/esc I used in this video. All of it is linked in the description
@@DerbyCityRC if I use the hobbie wing will I need to change the controler
Can this run s3 batteries
Yes, but the one I have in the video and linked in the description works with it.
I would recommend the Hobbywing for 3s and it’s a complete beast!!
HELP!!!!
Sorry again! Any updates?
@DerbyCityRC I got the gear mesh right after a few attempts. The car is crazy fast and still in one piece. Painted the clear body black on the inside of the body and put grip tape on top of body cause it likes to flip and slide on roof. Gonna get that liquid gravity stuff to add some weight and better shocks on it and see how it goes. Appreciate you responding!! Can't wait to see if I win the "Evan style Granite"!!! Take care and looking forward to more videos!!
@DerbyCityRC you will laugh when you hear why car wouldn't go anywhere on ground. I had the front and rear diffs going against each other. Derrr!!!
@kylesteele7590 awesome man! Yes that flat lid top likes to hold the car upside down lol!
Good luck on the Raffall!!
😃
@kylesteele7590 lol haha! Easy mistake, I’ve done it too lol!
WHats better????? THIS or the newer brushless version that's about 90% more? 2996A
Depends on what speed you want. This tops out around 17 mph and the 2996a is around 28 I believe and comes with better tires.
Did you have to install wheel spacers?
Yes. I used these. The 15mm
amzn.to/3nAYIjE
Now im confused. Sorry still new to rc.
The pack of tires that you recommend come with12mm hex. How did you fit 15mm?
Does 12 not work? I ran with stock pins and lost a wheel immediately 😂
Any advice will help 🙏
No problem! The 15mm is the length. Like how much it will push the wheels out away from the car. The hex size is still 12mm. When that happens I usually use loctite lol
Ohhhhh! Thanks
Nailed it! Ordered and locktited. First backlip too. Thanks youre the best! Keep up the videos 👍
At least one first watch/comment reward in my collection!!! LOL!!! Welcome back!
Haha! Congrats!
Thanks a bunch!
Dude - amazing content, whats your best cheap 1/10 RC Basher that we can buy now, I mean in terms of durability and overall performance ?
Thanks! I would have to say this one!

I’ve got a couple videos on it. Very solid car and awesome handling! 26 mph on 2s but also 3s capable.
@@DerbyCityRC I am looking at the newest iteration of that truck. seems like ya can't do any better than it for the money.
I completely agree!
It’s awesome!
That's what type of transmitter
This one here: amzn.to/3SmMzd6
@@DerbyCityRC thanks, I wanna upgrade my enoze 9203
You’re welcome! Those are good cars to upgrade too. I have quite a few videos on the 92xx series cars.
Good luck with the house move ect man ..and she goes Oki doesn't she I would try get a 3660 and watch her rip on one haha 😂
Thanks!!! Lol sounds awesome!
Great upgrade tnx
You’re welcome!
Great video!! ... " using a piece of foam the kids play with! " .... just DON'T tell em!! " 🤣🤣 priceless!! 👍👍🦾🦾
🤣🤣 Max would have my hide if he knew lol!
Are you needing to buy a new house to accommodate your RC hobby?! More trucks, more ramps, more space. ;)
I can hear it with your wife for the move, “Honey I’ll move all our RC stuff and you handle the rest of the house.”
Mainly needed to move cuz we have 4 kids and we lived on a busy street. But getting more space for RC cars become a requirement for the new house lol
I had quite a few boxes labeled RC lol
Perfect use of ramen noodles
I think you’re the first person to mention the noods. Lol figured people would have been all over that 🤣
Can't order it anymore, probably sold out
Just now found it on Amazon under a different name: amzn.to/3FYmNq7
Big coupon on it right now.
Is this one available to you?
@@DerbyCityRC Sorry to disturb, but making sure this link worked to the correct one, the one on Amazon has Tornado on the body??
Yes that’s correct. Even the actual Flyhal version has a “tornado” sticker
This is also the same car 👍
amzn.to/3WsRPgK
@@DerbyCityRC Thank you.
They want $150 for the Tornado one (for some reason.)
$109 for the one you provided the link for 👍🏼
Dude, it is unacceptable to upload irregularly, due to puny reasons, like a house swap 🤣
Just kidding, always makes me smile, when people are overly apologetic on YT. Your channel, your rules. Thanks for all the shins, that were scraped to the bone 😂
Haha! I know!
Thanks 😃
That was awesomey! Lol
I appreciate-y that!! 🤣
Hello! (^ ^)!
It is powerful and wonderful RC.
Nice Idea Upgrade
You have a wonderful family.
Yes it is, thanks!
Thank you very much!!
What's the long term consensus on this one? Still running strong? How is everything holding up to your abuse? Lol
@@DerbyCityRC I've already decided on going with the MJX 16208. How does that one hold up long term? Any issues with the components yet?
I haven’t ran mine too much yet. Definitely a decent car. I hear complaints about differentials more than anything else. I did break a pin in my front diff when I ran it on big tires with a 3s battery. Big crashes can break the plastic parts too. Decent plastic materials but not as good as HbX plastic.
@@DerbyCityRC thank you. I'm liking the hbx 16889a pro with that bigger battery. I'll make sure to use your banggood links when I order. I appreciate all your help.
Awesome!
Thanks I appreciate that. Helps me get more cars to review 👍👍👍
L I K E 👍👍👍 👍👍👍 ✴ ✳ ✴✳ ✴ 😻😻 😻😻
💪👍🇺🇦✌️
👍👍
Nice!! Good find 👍👍
