The HBX looks great but the RLAARLO is just next level design and quality. They killed it with this truck. I'm an Arrma and Traxxas guy but these look to be right up there in quality and performance, and I need a smaller basher to toss around. Kind of a mix between the XMaxx and the Big Rock. I think I'm gonna purchase the carbon version tonight. So much for the money!
Ya Rlaarlo did great with this one! If this video helped you, using the link I provided to purchase it helps us out, which we appreciate! Thanks man and if you decide to get one, I agree, the carbon version has a lot for the extra $50 👍👍
@publicprofilename4273 lol! Actually I have brought up a similar concept. I imagine China has fewer big diesel trucks running around and so on the non scale cars like monster trucks (the Omni terminator for example) this truly could be real. lol
Received my Terminator today. It's freaking awesome. Love it, best car I have so far. Control is smooth. It is built like a $500 truck. I recommend the aluminum model, the carbon model is sweet, but it's $50 that could be spent on a couple batteries for it as opposed to a bigger motor geared down to match the speed of the aluminum so you're not gaining speed. Love the Traxxas cars, but I would recommend this over just about anything out there for anyone getting into it and for those that want a full hobby grade truck without the 1/9 size. The response is instant, so theres no lag or cogging and the remote is pretty nice.
The Rlaarlo suspension seems to be the cats ass. It ate up your little speed bump tester and seemed to be a lot smoother. Way netter brakes too. I gotta give it hands down to rlaarlo. Anyways it's my second time to the channel and I'm liking it. Hello from Canada 🇨🇦
Hey i want to also add and i don't think I've ever mentioned it but you seem like an awesome dad to your kids. Love how you combined the fun of the with them and spending a ton of quality time with them. They seem to always be having a blast with their pops and I'm sure they will never forget these memories when they're older. Definitely seem like the cool, fun dad lol. All dads should find a hobby both can enjoy and rc seems like the perfect one! 🍻🍻
I agree with your conclusion, but I’d say there is a caveat. The Rlaarlo, according to them, will be upped to $270 after pre-sales. Meanwhile, I’ve frequently seen the HBX go on sale for $150 since it was released. Once that price disparity kicks in, not sure the Rlaarlo will be worth the extra 💰
I agree! However I’m hoping the “crossed out” price is a gimmick. They raise it too much and they’re not gonna sell many. Hoping it stays where it’s at.
fully kicked.. is $270 now, I'm out on it. I can get a Redcat Blackout or Volcano Pro brushless or one of many Traxxas, Losi, Arrma etc in the 250 to 300 range, so I'm betting I'm not alone in noticing that. I bet it'll be back where I legit think it belongs, 200 sometime in the not too distant future.
@publicprofilename4273 I completely agree it belongs at $200 with the carbon version pretty reasonable still at $250. $270 makes it a hard bargain when not much more gets you a better and bigger truck.
Hi guy's I've bought the Raarlo carbon fiber model RZ001B-C just waiting on delivery. I needed a Skatepark basher I can't keep using my grandson's vorteks 4x4 3s. Thanks mate great video 👍🦘😁🤣🤣.
AT LAST! I've been over here in St.Albans England, waiting for your next vid. I can understand you must have time issues, what with the little people in your life(who are fantastic,by the way),and those bloody aliens getting in everywhere, but I have to say your content is worth waiting for. I like my RC reviews to be entertaining, informative, and fun.... That's you Buddy...Cheers.
Thanks man!! I shoot for a video a week, but comparisons take much longer to make lol I’m pretty sure my kids are part of the alien clan so that doesn’t help either. Thanks so much dude and super glad you’re enjoying the channel!!
Great comparison video! I haven't driven the Rlaarlo, but just from the video you can tell the difference in handling. And the suspension test was a huge difference too! As always, well done!
Terminator roller version sounds like a great option also.. just a matter of finding the right motor pinions...i have a few big brushless motors i used in boats laying around, but this truck would probably need a higher kv...would run mine on 2 and 3s..so around 36 mph on 2s and 50mph on 3s would be ideal...thanks for sharing 😊
Have you tried different oil in the shocks the hbx 2996/7 come with? I put 70wt in the 2997a, but didn't make as much difference as I thought. I might try 2500 diff fluid, or a mix of the two
Other than 3s is there much difference between the 2996a and the 2997a? Would it make more sense to upgrade the esc to run 3s on the 2996a. Seems I remember some dude on UA-cam tried 3s in the 2996a and it didn't go so great. 😂
Who was it that tried 3s on the 2996a? 🤣🤣🤣 oh ya… So yes that should work perfectly. Same motor, just do yourself a favor and get a 60 amp. A good 45 would work but 60 would be better!
Parts are actually pretty good. Most (if not all) the parts are on Amazon from their “Amoril” store, which is a secondary name for them. And they carry all the parts on their website. If you order from the website it can take a couple weeks because it’s from overseas but they seem to be just as good if not better at keeping parts in stock than the big names. Just not much local hobby shop support yet.
The ultra strong brakes? Not that I know of without an ESC replacement. But you can try to practice not pushing the brake as hard/fast. I know that sounds like a simple solution but it works. Just gotta train the finger lol
I have 2 HBX I like the quality thing takes a crazy bashing I’ve smashed it and wrecked it pretty bad a lot and it holds up pretty good and looks great suggest putting bigger tires on HBX and it will easily pop wheelies with 3 s batteries! Great video I have been wanting the the rlaarlo truck little more pricey got both HBX $125

I don't like the Chinese cars creeping above the $200 price point, but great video. I particularly like when you do the comparison videos like this. Can't wait to see the mods that are upcoming and the comparison of modified versions.
I hear ya, but I like the option to have a good China car. If it’s made good, I don’t care where it comes from. I would say for its size, the $200-$250 price is pretty topped out though lol Much higher and might as well shell out for a 3s Arrma. In other words, I definitely see your point lol
I‘m pretty shure that all rc-cars are actually built in china 😅. The difference to the „BIG Brands“ (Arrma, Losi, Traxxas) is that the China manufacturers know that they have to deliver a better quality! Because they need to be seen for the quality. They cannot just demand a lot of money for weak constructions and high profit. 😏
Finally took out my new 2997a today The body cracked on the first flip, which is a bit silly, and the rear shocks are pretty slappy, so prob underfilled or underweight. Otherwise, digging it.
Yup definitely have glass like bodies, which stinks. In the video you saw this morning, I used these shocks for that HyperGo build and put 80wt fluid in them. Could try that!
How would you feel the way it drives and handles between the rlaarlo vs the TEAM ASSO MT10? And speed wise? You think it would be comparable in the suspension too?
They drive and handle pretty similarly really. Rival wins on speed and size. Suspension pretty comparable I’d say, maybe even tipped towards the rlaarlo in suspension especially being that it’s super tunable.
Rlaarlo certainly done a great job on that truck and those softer tyres and suspension setup makes its handling better than the hbx 👍, but it can be done to the hbx too and i realy like them both, great informative video thanx bro 👌
Great comparison Evan! I agree with you, both of these trucks are really amazing at their price points. Choosing the better between the two I’m sure was tough, but from what I can tell, your end call was the right one. Rlaarlo wins this one by the slimmest of margins! I’ve some videos where the metal chassis Rlaarlo got slightly faster speeds. Same with the 2997a. Both are winners in their own right! Enjoy the rest of your weekend buddy!👊🏼😎👍🏻
I know this might not be the correct place to ask this question but I have a hbx 16889a pro I cannot find a new rear differential at cuz I mine broke and I need a new one I want to get a front and a rear just have a backup system where would I purchase one of those I can't find it anywhere thanks for your help your show is awesome me and my daughter watched it all the time
Great vid, as always! In your opinion, what would be the best shocks, etc. upgrade for the 2997A to get it more on par with the Rlaarlo’s suspension? Thanks!
Thanks! I’m not sure yet. I’ve tried these, amzn.to/3PlR6wr and they’re great but the fluid is too thick. Thinning it down would probably make them almost perfect. I’m probably gonna try the rlaarlo terminator shocks on it soon honestly. Lol
It’s awesome get an actually tuff and fast rc for low price now. anything hobby grade at 200$ was not fast or durable surely not both. Awesome small ramp too. Love it. I want one of these smaller scale rockets but each one of ur vids i see the one i want more now. Lol. Looks too fun.
Cool to see you bring out the JJRC q130a still rocking my q130a but im about tired of it. The front knuckles are a massive weak point on it. Im trying to find a once piece set of front knuckles for it may just take the motor and ESC out and put it in my sons brushed truck and get my self some better.
That was actually my friend’s brushed q130, but we love ours! In fact, the ONLY thing we’ve ever broken on it with tons of abuse is one of the front knuckles. Did you know there are metal ones available for it?
@ECGxSilvernexon dang. Hmmm. I haven’t had that happen yet. Maybe when you get a new one, put some super glue on the threads first and tighten it back up real fast. Not too much or it will stop you from being able to tighten all the way. Those ball joints unscrew with an allen key if I remember right.
Great video! I am looking to get into the hobby. What would you recommend as a first truck? I am considering the omni terminator, arrma granite and rival mt10. What do you think would be the best all around experience? Or would you recommend another truck?
All of those are great options. The Omni is almost a perfect truck for its class, and the other two you mentioned are pretty awesome as well. Granite would be the biggest and the fastest, then the rival, then the Omni. The granite can be turned down to 50% power while you learn if you need it, and the other two can be turned down to almost a crawl. The HBX in this video is still a great option, especially being its only $165 with the coupon on Amazon, but it would be my least favorite out of all the options you mentioned. If you haven’t seen it, I actually have a comparison video between the rival and the granite from about a year ago that would help if you haven’t seen it. Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/iCBEA0wPSLo/v-deo.htmlsi=hgVg9ScqNCyuIMU9
The Terminator is new, and Rlaarlo is slow in shipping them out, I've ordered one 3 weeks ago and just got an email that it's shipped, will probably be a couple more weeks. You have been warned!
Yes they’re a newer company, maybe 2 years now. The Omni is awesome and while the shipping times are pretty standard for getting goods from China, they overpromised which is the main issue lol. It’s worth the wait if that’s the size and class of truck you want.
What's you ultimate dream truck? Buy the blue Arrma Gorgon for $139 and a couple Amazon 2s 5000 + or - mah batteries for $20- $25. Learn to drive by trying to break the Gorgon. (You can't) All that time save money for your dream truck. If you get bored with the Gorgon get a Amazon 3s esc/ motor combo and a dumbo rc tx/rx combo and upgrade it until rest of money is saved. It'll ultimately be easier to buy your dream/ most expensive rig first. You'll spend more working your way up than just jumping in with both feet. After you've dropped a grand or more on a truck is easier to spend $500 on another. There will be more, lol
Hey brother do you have any experience with Rlaarlo terminator carbon edition gyro. I got one when I turn on the gyro it will only go in circles in drive and wobbles like crazy in reverse and Rlaarlo says it’s normal you can’t control the car in gyro mode. But they said their engineers say it’s normal. A gyro is for stabilization it’s not supposed to make it unstable that’s what I thought. Thanks Man any info would help.
Hey, after tuning my 2996a on 3S i need definitely a wheelie bar! Do you have an idea for me which one would fit? Thank you very much and kind regards from germany! ✌🏻
Amazing comparison! I think I would give it to the Rlaarlo too based on your review but isn't there a pretty big price difference? The HBX typically goes for $165 and at times $150 but what price is the Rlaarlo typically at ($200)? Granted, a 3s LIPO and charger would add say $30 if you went with a 3s USB charger for the HBX. I am not sure what kind of charger the Rlaarlo comes with? But it seems that Rlaarlo is just much more substantial so it is worth a premium... hmmm, if my numbers above are right it seems the Rlaarlo is at least as good of a value if not better. I have my HBX up to 60 mph on the stock LIPOs (in series) and the stock motor on a 120A ESC. I would love to see you slap a 120A ESC in both and see how they handle 4s power compared to each other!
Thanks man! Ya that rlaarlo is currently $200 making it, in my opinion, a similar or better value like you said. Actually I forgot to mention, the rlaarlo doesn’t come with a charger at all lol. So weird. I don’t know if I’ll go 4s, but a high quality 3s system would be plenty! Yes I’m going to watch your 60mph video just haven’t yet!
@@DerbyCityRC No worries, you may also enjoy the 65 mph one.... it was great until the motor ceased up and took at the pinion and spur gear!!!!! The inside of the motor was comical when I took it apart!
@BriansRCStuff lol I knew you messed it up lol. I think I saw the thumbnail or you posting about it. Literally was gonna watch it last night but I got this video done around 2AM 😂 I’ll be watching tonight for sure!! 😃 The whole series! Lol
@@DerbyCityRC thanks for the interest. I have a lot of videos to catch up with on your channel! I just haven’t been watching many RC videos… I spend so much time making content. It’s hard to keep up with all the good content out there! Good to catch up with you!
They’re pretty similar, just the mt10 is bigger. Mt10 might be a little more durable but it definitely still breaks and has weaker metal components. It’s cool that rlaarlo also offers their own upgrades.
@@DerbyCityRC thanks for your response. I'm looking for a replacement for my hypergo 14210 which handles super bad (even after some minor upgrades). I've seen your upgrade video on the hypergo but I don't think I can bring myself to spend another penny on that piece of garbage.
I bought the redcat ridge rock crawler maxx is playing with for my 14-year-old son. Now I'm waiting on the redcat Ridge Runner for myself not much into crawling but he likes it so I'm trying to get into it for him
Cool! That’s actually not Max, it’s my friends son. But ya the Ridge Rock was cool. I actually really like crawling and hope to find a good spot. Have a crawler video coming up in probably two vids from now lol
Is it possible to turn down the power on it? Cause I'm thinking of getting either this or an Arrma Gorgon for my 7 year old. What do you guys think. Gorgon is about 40 dollars cheaper than alu terminator.
Yes the terminator can be turned down to practically a crawl. The 2997a cannot. I don’t have a Gorgon. It looks cool, but I believe my style would lead me towards wanting the terminator over the Gorgon.
@@DerbyCityRC im 23 years old sir actually I'm from India now I'm in uae 🇦🇪 I'm going to india vacation so i need a good car under $250 can you suggest 2 any cars
Great Video brother! It baffles me why Rlarrlo is marketing a ‘Baja buggy” in their marketing video! I have the 1st gen AM-X12 and it’s awesome in the dirt! 👍
Of course you had a comparison video for exactly what I asked for!😂 that's why you're the goat man. I hate to keep asking questions in the comments, but I'm really really looking for an out-of-the-box basher that's powerful enough you know to do the backflips and things tough enough to take a bit of a beating. Most of my cars are set up for speed runs, but I think a good old fashion basher is what I need in my life, I've heard the Typhon Grom is pretty good, but anything you can recommend will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance Evan. Keep up the good work, buddy. My 2997a is one that I got from Britt at 1/10 RC repair and it is definitely set up for speed runs. Can't bring myself to bash it.
The 10 208 is a bit out of my budget. I do like the Terminator, just unsure, which set up to get the carbon fiber, or the less expensive models. What do you think like I just want to take this thing out of the box. Charge up some batteries and go have some stupid fun with it.
I am totally down with one 12 1/10 scale. I could even go 1/16 like I said I just want something. I can charge the batteries on have a good time and not have to worry about tiptoeing through the tulips.😂
@OB_RC as far as terminator goes, I do think the carbon version is worth it over the metal. The body alone is so much more durable and a body replacement makes up the price. Then you have a bigger motor and higher amp esc.
I show it in my actual Omni review video. It’s in there if you haven’t seen it. Not really instructional, but it may help. ua-cam.com/video/1rPEqOk0n74/v-deo.htmlsi=CSv_bAs_j0TrrK-U
I couldn’t help but notice you have the mjx hyper go tires on that hbx 16889 in the background. How did they work on there and are they smaller than the tires from the 903?
So that’s my HBX Frankenstein build. It’s a hybrid of a few different HBX cars basically making it a 1/14 scale but has the width of a 1/12 scale. Built it almost a year ago if you never saw that, but I’m working on a video giving it more power and a better servo (hopefully). I think they’re slightly taller than the 903 wheels. So far I like it but haven’t been able to run them much yet.
The Frankenstein build was awesome. I have a stock 16889 with the 903 tires on it. It wants to flip backwards way too quick for my son to handle. Any chance u can measure the height of the MJX wheel u have on there? The 903 is 3.77 in. tall. The MJX look shorter than that. Thanks
My Rlaarlo sucks big time, and I only had it for a couple of months and didn't put it through your testing which is excellent well make video probably the best review video out there kudos. If I had to by my Omni over again I wouldn't its fast but runs crooked the motor shuts of when it feels like it and parts have fallen off of it anyway thanks for you video's I enjoy all of them you gots talent thats for sure, cheers.
I’m sorry to hear about your Omni 🤕. Are you gonna fix it up? Sounds like something must have been defective. I appreciate the comments on my videos. Thanks man!
Not sure of the exact measurement right now, but almost definitely too tall for the H14BM. Just uploaded a video yesterday putting them on that HBX 2997a and it lifts it way up. I don’t think the control arms or axles will be able to take that angle. If you widen your H14BM like I did, then you could lol
@feverexplosion1968 shocks alone I have not tried any. The arms on that truck just don’t have much sway in them. Too short. The best thing I ever did to mine was this: ua-cam.com/video/HE4qzl-nBao/v-deo.htmlsi=Yy5yacmoXgaFlMih It’s a bit involved, but it may even just give you an idea of what might help.
Love it. Can't wait for my carbon to come. HBX is still top notch for budget cars, but Rlaarlo just set a new bar! As always, thanks for the videos. Such a major help with purchases.
So I snagged the 2997a after watching some of your videos and for some reason I was completely underwhelmed. Snagged the OT and instantly felt it was the right purchase, amazon has the s2 diff cups so I got those on the way just because. Sent the 2997a back to Amazon, got to love amazon returns! Great videos man, thanks.
@DerbyCityRC yessir. I'm loving this Terminator, definitely had a smile on my face running it the last couple days. Got the kiddo a 16889 and we are both having a blast. Picked up a maverick quantum flux mt 1st and it's fun, but the Terminator just hit that sweet spot for me. I have an old tt01 I built probably 13 years ago so it's my only frame of reference. I think the controller on the 7a may have been what turned me off a bit.
The hbx has longer wheelbase..plus for some reason the center diff slipped alot despite what u do to it...I have one..I put thick fluid in center and rear diff...it will do wheelie on 3s now...ohhh..also put a bit bigger tires on it😊
@Desmo25 my oldest is also 7. This is a great car and has good control so probably not a bad choice for a first car since you can turn the speed down. Could always start with a really good 1/16 or 1/14 scale but then you need to buy another once he’s ready for more so this may be a good choice for that.
I really need to get my xs back out. It’s way faster than these two, but it handles like a garbage can. I want to try some better tires on it soon. So I don’t really know yet. Good question though as they’re in the same class I’d say.
It was tough for me to decide between these two trucks but went with the OT. I was very impressed with its performance out of the box, on batt pack #10 a rear knuckle gave up, now waiting for upgrade parts from Rlaarlo. Parts shipped from China next day, should take 7-10 days total. Maybe for prime day I'll get the HBX to have a backup :)
Besides being in China and needing to wait for shipping times, availability hasn’t been an issue for me. Same story for the HBX. I believe some of the parts are also available on Amazon for Rlaarlo, as well as HBX.
Great entertainment as always, Evan! Bit of a bummer with the HBX, lots of issues, I guess the Terminator didn't get terminated as I thought this time... I'm looking forward to spring, maybe finally sometime maybe get my version of the HBX out for a run...
for 200€ you can built a bigger and more powerful rc car, maybe not as durable, but which you can bash. there is the vrx racing cobra chassis kit, the remohobby hq727 chassis kit (exactly like atraxxas slash), the hsp brontosaurus kit, the zdracing dbx10 rtr (for 220€)
My recommendation for cars that automatically come with a 2s in the box to just run them on 2s. I have had multiple problems with cars that claim to run on 3s but will stop working the next time around. Unless obviously the car just does not come with batteries.
A good rule of thumb is if your speed controller is 80 amps or above it would definitely support 3s. If your truck is 10th scale I would recommend a minimum of 100 amps for 3s. Many companies allow you to run on 3s with as low as 45 amps ESC, but that is too little amps in my opinion. Maybe I'm paranoid, the new Arrma 3s Senton (or is it the Mojave, I forget?) V4 has an 80 amp ESC... But in my opinion that will get hotter than you want for a 3s 10th scale ESC. Similarly, the minimum you want to run 6s is 150 amps, so you could divide that by 2, and you'd be able to run 3s on 75 amps just fine, but in my experience (with a 15 pound truggy) even 160 amp ESC gets hot enough to do a thermal shutdown (212 degrees) on 6s. I say if you're buying an ESC, leave a large margin of error in the amperage. Because the least fun thing in the world (for me) is running my truggy for 8 minutes and then having to twiddle my thumbs waiting for the ESC to stop boiling. It's also not good for the lifespan of the electronics.
Hey Evan, psyched for the next video to come out, whatever it may be. I just bought and then traded a Redcat Rampage XT two-stroke 1/5th scale truck that was literally brand new. I got the truck so cheap for what it was, had a terrible time starting and tuning it, it never worked for more than 3 mins so I traded with a guy for an Outcast 6S which is what I wanted all along and couldn't afford. Anyhow, I noticed that Redcat put out a brand new 1/5th Electric called the Vigilante. I haven't been the biggest Redcat fan but this one might be worth a look and so I am asking (begging) that you review this one for us. I think the 1/5 scale would be such a cool shake up from your regular stuff and this one is red hot new. I would really love to see how it holds up to your technics. Thanks!!
My 2997a acts up sometimes and have no throttle when first turn on unless swtich remote switch over and back with steering reverse and throttle reverse. Kinda bugging me.
Good old danchee ran it over I bought that the ridge rock cuz I had to have the upgraded brother then they have to come out with a combo of both for the steering options and metal upgrades
Ive got the am-d12 and i like it a lot. The Terminator is very tempting but man..those gears sound ROUGH.. still a good sub 200 car though. If i had an excuse to get one..like you, who will profit from the purchase, then of course.. keeping my current fleet going is hard enough.. without adding the Terminator..which requires its own parts, which most likely are not fully compatible with 12 scale
The AM-D12 is a good car too but doesn’t quite compare. They really did good on this one. The gears don’t sound bad at all. Could be the way the camera picks it up? Loud yes because they’re metal but very smooth.
This ramp is available to buy. I specifically chose this one because it’s one of the cheapest I could find for being 4ft wide plus it’s adjustable and foldable. Still not cheap though. www.kc-rc.com/collections/bashing-ramp
@@DerbyCityRC I guess how many ramps can a company sell? They have to price it to make something…at least it’s made in NA! Thanks for the help buddy! BTW…my 7 y/o Alex LOVES your channel!
@hovan2yourjunk yup I own a business myself, so I get it. I think this dude designs and makes them himself so it’s gotta be worth it for him! Thanks man and tell Alex I say hi!
Been checking your vids on this hbx and took advantage of this Black Friday sale pulled the trigger so Tuesday I’ll be ripping my own hbx 🤩 but please 🤫 don’t tell the wife 😅
My esc burned out playing in snow on my 2997a. Motor seemed fine but i swapped it with a 3650 4300kv motor and 45a esc due to bullet connectors being different sizes.
Ya seems like “splash proof” is all it’s good for. Definitely not a good esc to get too wet 😢 this car takes upgrades very well! You like it with your new combo?
Why can I not find 2997a anywhere in ali or banggood? Looking to buy something new, Terminator would be my first choice but with taxes and all it would be something like double the price as is it... 2998a... The one in banggood 😮
For some reason they haven’t made it available anywhere else. The 2996a is definitely still a decent option. Could always swap the esc to make it 3s capable.
@@DerbyCityRC Still want that central deifferential tough 😞 Like how it looks and the price compared to the Terminator. Since I would have to pay VAT and taxes for Terminator it would be quite expensive. Still thinking about getting the rolling chassie and get a cheap esc/motor combo. Got my first MJX yesterday btw, really impressed 👍 But a car with a little more clearance would be awesome and the handling and craftsmanship of Terminator looks fantastic.
No, don’t do that lol. Not yet! That Smyter is based off the HbX 903, not the 2997. They’re quite different and no center differential. Not as durable. I’m trying to look out for when they do have a version of this though.
Thanks man and if you decide to get one, I agree, the carbon version has a lot for the extra $50 👍👍
I have the carbon version... it's really good. Exceptional build quality.
so you are aware it's China, so it's a metric 1:10 scale right? lolz. I know
@publicprofilename4273 lol!
Actually I have brought up a similar concept. I imagine China has fewer big diesel trucks running around and so on the non scale cars like monster trucks (the Omni terminator for example) this truly could be real. lol
What servo upgrade do you recommend for the 2997a? Thanks
I agree man! It’s a super well built truck!
Such an underrated channel. I have bought several trucks based on this channels reviews and all have been the best trucks i own. Thanks.
Thanks man. So cool to hear!! 😊
Yes the Rlaarlo’s suspension is quite literally one of the best I’ve ever seen of any car. Welcome back my neighbor to the north!
Thanks so much dude!
Yes i definitely try to do right by them. RC is definitely one of the best hobbies for that! 😊
This is my go to channel for RC bashing .
Thanks!! 😊
It's still $200. I just checked
@joseCalderon1976 yup. Hasn’t changed yet.
Hi guy's I've bought the Raarlo carbon fiber model RZ001B-C just waiting on delivery. I needed a Skatepark basher I can't keep using my grandson's vorteks 4x4 3s. Thanks mate great video 👍🦘😁🤣🤣.
Awesome!!
So how is the terminator and how did it compare to the vorteks?
How do you think the Terminator would hold up to some 2.8" tires? @DerbyCityRC do you have the itch/curiosity to try some proline badlands?
I shoot for a video a week, but comparisons take much longer to make lol
I’m pretty sure my kids are part of the alien clan so that doesn’t help either.
Thanks so much dude and super glad you’re enjoying the channel!!
Great comparison video! I haven't driven the Rlaarlo, but just from the video you can tell the difference in handling. And the suspension test was a huge difference too! As always, well done!
Thanks! It’s clear in the video, but they have a pretty different feel while driving too. They nailed it!
The Rlaarlo sounds like a badass looks like a badass all the way around. Looks top quality.👍
It is! I like it a lot!!
The Alien dude cracks me up 😅🤣😂 Man the Rlarrlo drives like the ARRMA Big Rock. The way it handles from the look of it.
🤣🤣 Ya that alien just shows up from time to time. Such a nuisance!
It handles beautifully! 😃😃
Awesome comparison man! Being there makes a difference. Both are amazing machines! It was awesome seeing my crawler and desert truck on here!
Yes both awesome!!
Ya man it was fun!!
I might try 2500 diff fluid, or a mix of the two
I haven’t tried yet but I plan to. You might be onto something with that 2500.
Other than 3s is there much difference between the 2996a and the 2997a? Would it make more sense to upgrade the esc to run 3s on the 2996a. Seems I remember some dude on UA-cam tried 3s in the 2996a and it didn't go so great. 😂
Guess I should have mentioned I have the 2996a
Who was it that tried 3s on the 2996a? 🤣🤣🤣 oh ya…
So yes that should work perfectly. Same motor, just do yourself a favor and get a 60 amp. A good 45 would work but 60 would be better!
What about parts availability for the Rlaarlo? I have read parts are not so available.
@@DerbyCityRC Did anyone find a solution to the braking?
The ultra strong brakes? Not that I know of without an ESC replacement. But you can try to practice not pushing the brake as hard/fast. I know that sounds like a simple solution but it works. Just gotta train the finger lol
@@DerbyCityRC Thank you so much for getting back to me.
@tap9083 you’re welcome!
An elegant unicorn prancing on a rainbow......... 😂

Traxxas are made in Taiwan 😊
Finally took out my new 2997a today The body cracked on the first flip, which is a bit silly, and the rear shocks are pretty slappy, so prob underfilled or underweight. Otherwise, digging it.
Yup definitely have glass like bodies, which stinks. In the video you saw this morning, I used these shocks for that HyperGo build and put 80wt fluid in them. Could try that!
Will the HBX body fit or can it be customized to fit the Terminator
I’d love to see the HBX 2997A with the larger tires. Another great review and a great video…
Yup I’ll be working on that!
Thanks!
What about the HG HB14BM????
Much smaller, just as fast, much less controllable.
How would you feel the way it drives and handles between the rlaarlo vs the TEAM ASSO MT10? And speed wise? You think it would be comparable in the suspension too?
They drive and handle pretty similarly really.
Rival wins on speed and size. Suspension pretty comparable I’d say, maybe even tipped towards the rlaarlo in suspension especially being that it’s super tunable.
another awesome comparison man! The HBX punches hard for what it is! But i'm sticking with this brand, guess i'm starting my Rlaarlo collection lmao.
Thanks! Ya dude the rlaarlo wins this. Excellent truck and can’t wait for their next releases!
I got my Rlaarlo Terminator in today, first run on it was great, it can run over everything and keep going, love it!!
It is great!! Glad you love it!!
Rlaarlo certainly done a great job on that truck and those softer tyres and suspension setup makes its handling better than the hbx 👍, but it can be done to the hbx too and i realy like them both, great informative video thanx bro 👌
I agree!!
Will the Terminator run 4S out of the box I got the carbon fiber Edition with a bigger ESC just curious before I hook a 4S lipo up to it
I thought so, but I’ve heard mixed reviews on that. Thinking it probably needs an esc upgrade first.
Thanks Robby!
Rlaarlo knocked this out of the park! Cant wait for the ultra-Terminator!
I made that up but hopefully a larger version soon!
Top notch video skillz! Always entertaining and informative. Awesomeness. Is that a word?
Thanks bro!!
That’s absolutely a word!! 😃😃
I use it all the time!!
Lol
Excellent Review you do a really good job helping people decide. Thank you
Thanks man and you’re welcome!
There’s alot of great choices!!
Oh and all the wheels lol. Those stock wheels were garbage 🤣
@DerbyCityRC yea mine came with metal front knuckles. But the ball joint keep ripping put of the knuckle
So i just realized today that the oil filled shocks i bought for my q130a didn't come with oil in them.
@@DerbyCityRC
What brand is that crawler?
It’s a Redcat. I’ve got a video eventually coming out comparing that and another similar crawler.
Hey,
after tuning my 2996a on 3S i need definitely a wheelie bar! Do you have an idea for me which one would fit? Thank you very much and kind regards from germany! ✌🏻
I saw a post mentioning modifying the wheelie bar from a 903a to fit. Havent tried but seems like it could work and I will be trying! 🤘🤘
Literally was gonna watch it last night but I got this video done around 2AM 😂
I’ll be watching tonight for sure!! 😃
The whole series! Lol
@@DerbyCityRC thanks for the interest. I have a lot of videos to catch up with on your channel! I just haven’t been watching many RC videos… I spend so much time making content. It’s hard to keep up with all the good content out there!
Good to catch up with you!
@BriansRCStuff No worries, watch whatever and whenever you want. Life is busy! 😊
Good catching up with you too!
How does the rlaarlo compare to the rival mt10?
Bro can your suggest one of in this two cars please
That’s what the whole video is about lol
I prefer the Omni terminator but you may decide the other is more for you.
@@DerbyCityRC im 23 years old sir actually I'm from India now I'm in uae 🇦🇪 I'm going to india vacation so i need a good car under $250 can you suggest 2 any cars
Because I'm confused 🙂
The two cars in this video are my favorites under $200. Do you need links on how to get them?
Do you have the ability to buy from Amazon?
Yes i want to buy amazon
Great Video brother! It baffles me why Rlarrlo is marketing a ‘Baja buggy” in their marketing video! I have the 1st gen AM-X12 and it’s awesome in the dirt! 👍
Thanks man! The Amx12 looks like a fun buggy too!
Haha! Thanks 😆 looking for a specific scale? Don’t like the terminator or 10208?
The 10 208 is a bit out of my budget. I do like the Terminator, just unsure, which set up to get the carbon fiber, or the less expensive models. What do you think like I just want to take this thing out of the box. Charge up some batteries and go have some stupid fun with it.
I am totally down with one 12 1/10 scale. I could even go 1/16 like I said I just want something. I can charge the batteries on have a good time and not have to worry about tiptoeing through the tulips.😂
@OB_RC look at this and tell me what you think: shop.makerfire.com/products/mjx-10208-v2-rc-car?_pos=7&_sid=f63dccc9a&_ss=r&aff=572
@OB_RC as far as terminator goes, I do think the carbon version is worth it over the metal. The body alone is so much more durable and a body replacement makes up the price. Then you have a bigger motor and higher amp esc.
Be nice to see how the new traxxas mini maxx at 249 compares 😊
How do you install the speed gear
Thanks man!
How much do you want for it
Just bought HBX comes tomorrow can’t wait black Friday deal baby
Awesome man!! It’s a great deal!
Im pretty sure there is a turbo mode that boosts the rlaarlos acceleration
How tall and big are the Omni Terminator Shocks? I want to out them on my MjX H14BM
@@DerbyCityRC What upgrades shocks shouldI use for the MJX H14BM? I will do a lot of jumping off ramps.
@feverexplosion1968 shocks alone I have not tried any. The arms on that truck just don’t have much sway in them. Too short.
The best thing I ever did to mine was this: ua-cam.com/video/HE4qzl-nBao/v-deo.htmlsi=Yy5yacmoXgaFlMih
It’s a bit involved, but it may even just give you an idea of what might help.
I sure love my 1/16 HBX trucks! Would be sick to have either one of these!
Had my first real break on the hbx not sure which diff is bad yet working on it now
I think I have still never broken one on any of those but it definitely happens!
Easy fix woohoo!
Love it. Can't wait for my carbon to come. HBX is still top notch for budget cars, but Rlaarlo just set a new bar!
As always, thanks for the videos. Such a major help with purchases.
Yes rlaarlo did an amazing job!
Super glad I can help man, thanks!!
Great vid. When they announced the Omni, I wondered how it would compare to the 2997. Now I know.
A ton of people asked about this comparison so here it is 🤣
I of course wondered myself!!
Interesting, I still love the 2997a, but hey that’s cool! The terminator is a better buy for sure. Glad you like it!! 🤘🤘
@nathanskidmore1608 that’s awesome! The 16889 is probably the absolute best choice for a kid! 🔥🔥
I'm 23 old please suggest a rc car under $200@@DerbyCityRC
The hbx has longer wheelbase..plus for some reason the center diff slipped alot despite what u do to it...I have one..I put thick fluid in center and rear diff...it will do wheelie on 3s now...ohhh..also put a bit bigger tires on it😊
The HBX is awesome for sure!
$212 for the cf version rlaarlo, should I get it?
From Amazon? amzn.to/3AVxjj3
My opinion is yes. I love that car and the carbon version is better and crazy enough cheaper than the “aluminum” version.
@@DerbyCityRC yes sir. I'm contemplating whether or not to get this as a first rc for my 7yo son. Do you have any recommendations?
@Desmo25 my oldest is also 7. This is a great car and has good control so probably not a bad choice for a first car since you can turn the speed down.
Could always start with a really good 1/16 or 1/14 scale but then you need to buy another once he’s ready for more so this may be a good choice for that.
Which is the better buy; Deerc 200e or HBX 2997a?
2997a 💯%
@@DerbyCityRC Thanks
Kinda random question...
How do you think these stack up against the Savage XS Flux?
I really need to get my xs back out. It’s way faster than these two, but it handles like a garbage can. I want to try some better tires on it soon. So I don’t really know yet. Good question though as they’re in the same class I’d say.
Thanks for doing the suggestion!
It was a good one!
great video buddy, thank you! Very detailed and good comparison. I Have the HBX 2997A, can't wait for you upgrades video on this one!
Thanks man!!
Ya me too!! Got a few other awesome vids in the works first.
You should put some underglow lights on that omni it would look sick
It was tough for me to decide between these two trucks but went with the OT. I was very impressed with its performance out of the box, on batt pack #10 a rear knuckle gave up, now waiting for upgrade parts from Rlaarlo. Parts shipped from China next day, should take 7-10 days total. Maybe for prime day I'll get the HBX to have a backup :)
Good choice!! Yes having both is the best solution 😅🤣
They're both awesome but I think I like the rlaarlo just a little bit more. I think the suspension is just a little bit better.😊
Agree with this, I do!
Elegant unicorn dancing on a rainbow....? Dude what dispensary are you using?
The dispensary of life!
😂😂
😆
Does anyone know how the parts availability is with Rlaarlo ?
Besides being in China and needing to wait for shipping times, availability hasn’t been an issue for me. Same story for the HBX. I believe some of the parts are also available on Amazon for Rlaarlo, as well as HBX.
Great entertainment as always, Evan! Bit of a bummer with the HBX, lots of issues, I guess the Terminator didn't get terminated as I thought this time...
I'm looking forward to spring, maybe finally sometime maybe get my version of the HBX out for a run...
Yes the terminator was victorious and stayed in mostly one piece!
Thanks man!!

seminar comparison! i thought that you would flip the tyres between these cars..
Thanks! Probably will, but not for this comparison. This video ended up being long enough lol
I know this is probably a funny question but could I run a li-lion battery in the Rlaarlo Terminator?
I would think so, but I don’t want to say for sure.
for 200€ you can built a bigger and more powerful rc car, maybe not as durable, but which you can bash. there is the vrx racing cobra chassis kit, the remohobby hq727 chassis kit (exactly like atraxxas slash), the hsp brontosaurus kit, the zdracing dbx10 rtr (for 220€)
There’s absolutely some great build options out there 👍👍
Definitely gotta go with Rlaarlo on this one 🔥
Oh ya it’s the clear winner here!
This is an excellent comparison and I appreciate all the details you covered. Watch out for those trees.
Thanks man! Ya that tree is an RC magnet!! lol
Has anyone received any updates on the whereabouts of their Omni order?
They’ve recently said there has been some maritime issues, but still expect them to arrive soon. They’ve been shipped out already.
Heyy very good videos!!
What about a comparison between the Omni Terminator and Granite??
Thanks! Possibly one day, but I’ll likely wait til rlaarlo comes out with a bigger terminator 😃
Yeah here it is like you said lol. Guess i missed this upload. Great comparison and answered all my questions 🍻🍻
Click that notification bell for my channel! 😄
Super glad this helped!! 😃
@DerbyCityRC Now that you mentioned it I thought I had clicked the notification bell but just checked and it isn't. Fixed that brotha 💪🏼🍻
@cwatson42785 sweet dude, thanks!!
New vid tomorrow 😃
My recommendation for cars that automatically come with a 2s in the box to just run them on 2s. I have had multiple problems with cars that claim to run on 3s but will stop working the next time around. Unless obviously the car just does not come with batteries.
There are definitely some cases of this. A slightly better esc would have been better on the hbx for sure
Thanks!!
Thanks!
I’d like to review it too, but not sure I’ll be able to just yet. Finances are a bit tight at the moment.
always the best videos bro! wish i could control in the air like you
Thanks man! It’s just practice. Takes time and a lot of broken cars lol
My 2997a acts up sometimes and have no throttle when first turn on unless swtich remote switch over and back with steering reverse and throttle reverse. Kinda bugging me.
That’s weird and definitely frustrating. Has it always done it?
@@DerbyCityRC no just started doing that.
Did you build or buy that ramp? I’m having a tough time finding one to buy that affordable and portable…
This ramp is available to buy. I specifically chose this one because it’s one of the cheapest I could find for being 4ft wide plus it’s adjustable and foldable. Still not cheap though.

@@DerbyCityRC Me too. All things considered…the price actually seems reasonable. All the best!
@hovan2yourjunk I agree.
Thanks bro you too!
Been checking your vids on this hbx and took advantage of this Black Friday sale pulled the trigger so Tuesday I’ll be ripping my own hbx 🤩 but please 🤫 don’t tell the wife 😅
I won’t say a word!! 😅
@@DerbyCityRC Its faster then stock but a little less wheel pop on a flatout takeoff. Still 3S and tons of fun
@@DerbyCityRC Still want that central deifferential tough 😞
Like how it looks and the price compared to the Terminator. Since I would have to pay VAT and taxes for Terminator it would be quite expensive. Still thinking about getting the rolling chassie and get a cheap esc/motor combo.
Got my first MJX yesterday btw, really impressed 👍
But a car with a little more clearance would be awesome and the handling and craftsmanship of Terminator looks fantastic.
The 2996a does have the center differential also!😃
The mix is pretty sweet. I’ve got a really cool mod video for that coming up in a week or two!
Hey man did you try those bigger tires on the HBX yet?
I have not yet. Hoping to get to that soon lol
I'd like to see you put bigger tires on the omni as well.
@peteralbury7724 I’m sure I will 😃
Incrível a suspensão e força do Rlaarlo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🚀🚀🚀🚀 porém não vi muita segurança p compra ou posso estar enganado?
It is incredible! Sorry, I didn’t understand the second part of your comment.
Omni Terminator hands down. No comparison for quality and value for money
Put the battery under both layers of strap. Should stop the battery from coming out.
I will try this!
This is a great rc comparison video👏
Thanks!
How can I get the car please hit me so I can get really trying to get into this
Which car do you want?
Please, can you give me the dimensions of the Omni-Terminator's battery tray(or the 3s stock battery)? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work, ciao
The battery it comes with is about 105mm long by 34mm wide. It’s 23 mm tall but there’s room for plenty more height. 👍👍
Great video bro!! I just got ready to pull the trigger on the HBX. Everything they got is pretty good. Where is Derby City?
go for the blackzon turbo 1/12. Exactly the same as the hbx but 160eur and hpi parts support.
No, don’t do that lol. Not yet!
That Smyter is based off the HbX 903, not the 2997. They’re quite different and no center differential. Not as durable. I’m trying to look out for when they do have a version of this though.
Thanks! Yes HBX has some of the best cheap cars!
Derby City is a nickname for Louisville Kentucky.
Ok... that was a gentle nudge towards the Rlarrlo. Still can't decide lol... may just have to get both
That’s my type of answer 🤣🤣
It really is close, but the rlaarlo wind slightly on almost every category.
“wind” 😂😂😂
🤣🤣
