This has been happening to us for the past few months. I watched this video and then sent it to my husband. He quickly called our Honda dealership. They told us there was a recall for this problem. They told us to bring it right in and they fixed it for no cost at all!!
I never comment on UA-cam videos, but this was the only one that I found that perfectly addressed the problem I was experiencing and gave a great step by step tutorial that was clear and concise. Got the whole thing fixed in less than 10minutes. Thank you!

@@brianmeza7354 Thanks for the "how to" video Brian. Worked perfectly! What's alarming is the failure rate everyone is having. I have a 2016 Pilot so this appears to be a defective product. I had an engine start button on my previous car and never had an issue.

Didn't work for me. Very informative and helpful video. I got the part switched out very easily following your instructions, but still getting the same error message.
@@joshuagratopp8040 the internet says that this issue should be fixed by replacing the BCM. A lot of cases were fixed by this procedure
I never thought I could do this on my own. Never tried to fix a car problem before. This is a very helpful video that guided me through step by step. I had to pause the video several times. I resolved the issue within 15 minutes. No more keyless issue signal and worries about whether the car can be started or not next time. Thank you so much for the help.
Thank you!!! The push start was giving me problems for months. I ordered the push start from here months ago but was hesitant to install it. Then the warning message came on yesterday and it stayed on. So I sent this video to my husband and it took him 10 mins to install it for me and problem solved!!!! I just did this in 5 minutes!!! Thank you. Ordered the part from your link in description and replaced myself on my 2016 pilot elite! Dealership wanted $400! Part was only $70 plus shipping. Labor was free 😀 Well I’ll pay myself later with a new dress from the money I saved!
OMG! I just did it! I was so afraid but in order to save the money I was determined to try, it took me 10 minutes!
Thank you , thank you you saved me $370. It’s only $370 because the dealer charged me $130 when I told them NOPE you will not fix my car, when I heard that $500 quote. Oh well lesson learned, I’m staying away from the dealer.
Thank you , Brian for this video and clear instructions! We took into the dealer who installed some other part and charged us $300 only to have the keyless starter light continue to come back on. Instead of taking it back to the dealer (would have charged couple of hundred dollars...) we ordered the part and followed the video and finished at the same time (about 7 minutes). It worked~thank you again!
Just replaced mine with the help of your video! Probably took 10 minutes tops. I was a little hesitant on pulling so hard on the panels to pop them out. But they came out and back in just fine. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Thank you for this video. I went to the parts department to get one and they informed me that they extended the warranty on these for 9 years. Check with your dealer before you look to change this.
Brian - thank you for posting. It really was as simple as you say it is. Dealer wanted over $400 for repair. Part was $65 online, but I didn’t want to wait to replace so paid steep $104 at dealer for part. To anyone else watching this and is unsure... yes you can do it.

One thing to note for other's experience this issue, first replace your FOB battery as this will cause this issue too. Then if you are experience the problem still, then follow Brian's instructional video

I’ve had this issue for many months, with the engine light in stating a fab issue. While it still worked I was concerned with the upcoming State inspection. So I followed your tutorial and damned if didn’t work in the first attempt. This video was on the money, and I thank you.

Life changing video right here! I can’t thank you enough! For years I drove my car with the stupid “remote keyless start” error issue crap always resetting the battery to make it go away. This is the video I was looking for and it sure made a huge difference. Easy to do DIY, totally worth it!! 💯🙌🏼

Thanks for making this video! I have a 2016 Pilot that had this issue for months. I took it to the dealer and they wanted to charge $500.00. I paid $74.25 (including expedited shipping) online and made the repair in no more than 10 min. No reprogramming keys necessary either. Thanks again!

Thank you for your clear and concise instructions - seriously, it takes longer to watch the video than to actually replace the switch - and I'm not knocking the length of your video by any means.
In the US, Honda is now offering a warranty extension on this part to 9 years. If you get a "Keyless Start System Error" take it to the dealer for a free diagnostic and replacement if you have a 2016-2017 Pilot and 2017 Ridgeline. You can get reimbursed for a prior fix if you already replaced it. Now I just need to find my receipt from when I followed your tutorial to fix this.
Why isn't this a recall? Interesting how it seems to be a problem within 15k miles after the warranty expires. Seems like so many people are having this problem that Honda should fix it for free.
Just did this this on my 2016 Pilot and keyless system problem code went away but as someone said here the walk-away auto-door lock feature was not working until I let it sit little over 30 min after removing battery wire. Took me like 5min to change it out 👍🏻👍🏻 thanks again!
I got the extended warranty notice but The dealer didn’t want to do it since my car has salvage title so this vid was helpful and cost me total $87 (used the link in description to purchase the part)

For those that have this warning and it does not accompany a code, Honda will deem it not covered under the extended warranty. For clarification, this is not a recall error. If you take it to a Honda dealership, you will be subject to paying the $179 diagnostic fee, which can be applied to fixing the problem. In other words, if you do not have the code, follow the guidance of this video.

Thanks for the video! Evidently Honda will replace this for free now..they are extending the warranty on the 2016 pilot to 125,000 miles
or 9 years. Service Bulletin 20-117 I've read on Piloteers that this doesn't make it go way, that there is a control module
behind the glove box that may need to be replaced. Honda should make this a recall!

I agree with other commenters, I NEVER comment on videos but this was concise and to the point step-by-step directions. 5 - 10 minutes at most to fix. Dealership would have probably charged another $20 for the part and $70-100 labor. You saved me time driving there and at least $100. Thanks Brian!!!!!

Thanks a lot. Ordered a new part 35881-TG7-A04. It appears A04 superceded A03 and A02 by my research. The OEM part costs more but rest assured. It took only 5 mins! Thanks again Brian!

Received a letter from Honda today indicating that this is an issue. They will fix it at the dealership. I'm going to try to submit for reimbursement of the part since I did it myself with the help of this video.

I have a 2016 Honda Pilot and am thinking about giving this fix a try. I have the dreaded “Keyless Start Problem” error message. This doesn’t have any impact on the key fob, does it?

Thank you for this video Brian. Im having the same issue. I was curious and called Honda to get a quote for this issue and was told they can only give a average quote. They quote $400 - $600 lmao! I asked what is the price for just the part and was told they dont sell this item. I guess because you can get it for around $50 in Amazon lol!

Great video. I finally opened up the dashboard myself. I took out the switch. I was under an impression that I could repair the switch after watching another youtube video for a different Honda vehicle. I did open up the switch and found it to have a different switch construction. So I put the switch back together. I reconnected the same switch back and the error message went away...... Let's see if it stays that way.

Wow Brian! This was perfect. I did it with my teenage son and it took us less than 5 minutes and dealer wanted over $500. The dealer told me it would be 2.5 hours of labor and $90 for the switch. What a rip off for a $70 genuine Honda switch from E-bay and less than 5 minutes of time. Thanks again.

I used this video to change the switch on my 2017 Honda Ridgeline. The only difference is that there are *two* screws on the left side. Thank you!
