Great watching a Honda tech working on Hondas see as my entire family drives Hondas but I’m the only one that knows what a screwdriver looks like. Tried to teach the male half of the relationships USELESS. Thanks for sharing very useful info. I guess no programming is required. It’s not tied into the anti theft buss? Keep the videos coming Artie 🇺🇸😊
Thanks for watching, that is correct no programming is required although battery reset/code clear is highly recommended depending if you have access to a scan tool.
This is trip number 5 to the dealer same exact issue they have now had my car for 3 days. I have a loaner. People also told me go to the sales department and see if they can buy back the car for another car and they have to work with us because I’ve been in here now 5 times
I would hope someone would reply to this! Huge issue with my 2016 Honda Pilot. Honda knows there is an issue with the 2016-17 pilot with the push start button when the car not starting they extended the warranty 9 years from purchase date or 125,000 which ever comes first. My pilot has the problem one a month it won’t start. After pushing the button and brake at the same time the car will come on after an hour of trying! This is the 5th time I brought the pilot into the dealer now they have said they have done a Honda tech line case on the car to see what’s going on. At this point people are saying it’s a lemon and people are saying I should just get another car altogether. What are your thoughts ?
Hey sorry your going through that. I would need the car I’m my possession to physically get a proper diagnosis but off the top of my head would be the keyless access unit. Pretty common to fail on those. If they haven’t done that, that would be my go to. If they have them proper diagnostics would need to be done but if it only happens once a month it’ll be extremely difficult to pinpoint.
Yes they did replace that unit a while back. Yes we are in talks of just getting rid of that altogether and getting a better yet in talks with dealer! Thanks for the reply?!!
Thanks for the great video! My 2016 Pilot Touring just displayed a Transmission System Problem on the dash. It has 65,000 miles on it. I have scheduled an appt with the dealer for 12/27/24. Any ideas what the issue might be? Hoping it doesn't need a new torque converter or entire transmission
@@BCautosutions I hope you're right! I checked for codes before I drove it to the dealership today and there were no stored or pending codes to display. The Transmission System Problem never came on while driving today either and it seemed to shift like normal. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos and to reply to our questions. It is greatly appreciated!
@@BCautosutions Just heard from the dealership. It has P2638 and P2711 codes and they are saying a total transmission replacement is needed. They have a Honda remanufactured one in stock and it will be $8200 with a 3/36,000 warranty. I hate to put that much money into a 9 yr old vehicle but it only has 65K miles, I purchased it new and it will cost more than $8200 for a new vehicle. Also, from what I read, nothing was changed with the remanufactured transmission so I very well could be in for another transmission replacement in another 65,000 miles. Not sure what to do at this point
I've been debating on buying a newer Honda pilot but your videos make me wonder if honda reliability has diminished. Is there a year you haven't repaired often?
All cars have problems tbh, I’m at the dealer so I see an extensive amount of issues. Our sister stores Toyota and Nissan have their fair share of issues as well. Most reliable pilot imo 19-22 for now.
Awesome video thanks so much… my 2016 Honda Pilot has a static radio noise and then it goes silent can’t here anything not even with Bluetooth any suggestions?
I get this key symbol on my 2013 accord the car cranks and starts but shuts off a second after being on , it’s showing me that key symbol only is this what I need to do?
@@BCautosutions i do not it’s push to start plastic ring I had this problem as soon as I changed my taillights and tried to test the reverse light and then the car starts giving me this symbol & turns off I already replaced the push to start button but car still turns on and off car only shows me that key symbol for a second and won’t give me any other such symbols, miles, range or anything on my dash
@@esgarnunez9106 sounds like you might have done some serious damage. Hopefully it was just a fuse, check all of them including the black fuse blocks with clear glass held down by 8mm. There’s 2 fuses boxes under hood if I recall correctly and under dash. Check all 3
I have a question 2018 pilot heat works fine while driving when stop at light blows cool air start again heat returns, coolant flush, done heater core flush done dealerships says heater core. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately if you have done heater core flush it sounds like heater core will need replacement. One last attempt could be to ask them to do the 12-14 Crv service bulletin heater core flush.
Lights could be on for a plethora of reasons. The one you just described is the least common but glad it worked out for you, or maybe you just erased any data that would lead to a proper diagnosis….
They are solid with the exception of the 6at trans. If the trans fluid is super dark, I would stay away or be prepared to replace the tq concertos. Also the injectors have a huge high fail rate depending on location of the country but I would assume they were changed out at this point but there is also a warranty Extension on them. Hope this helps your decision
My 2018 pilot alarm kept going off for no reason, dashboard lights would go on and off and the little hands would jiggle for like 3- 5 seconds then the alarm would start. This morning this light came on and it didnt want to turn off. Does anyone know about how much the start/stop switch is?
Hmmm, so that’s why I be having a shit tone of scratches when I get my pilot back. Y’all too dam rough when taking stuff apart. Too concerned with time.... good video though.
Honestly there no way to be gentle it literally makes it worse. Best thing to do is warm up the interior before any interior work so plastics can be as forgiving as possible. If you have scratches then you need to complain to the dealer, that shouldn’t be happening and in the event it does, they should be responsible. Thanks for watching
Ho do you get rid of all those other problems like lane assist, collision...? My wife babies her car and only owner and this stuff starts coming on. Don’t want to pay high prices to get it fixed.
Unfortunately there’s no was to permanently turn them off but you can switch them off. On the pilots they are pretty solid and typically don’t see any issues unless if it’s been an accident.
I bought a 2016 Honda Pilot EX-L w Nav, with 65k miles on it and now I’m scared I made a bad choice after watching the video, I can’t just sell it or trade it in.
Hey first off congrats, this is a simple repair and no reason to sell or trade it in. Honda actually released a warranty extension on this for some time so In the event it does fail, it would be covered for the time being.
Thanks!
Thank you!
Thank you! Replaced the Start Button assembly with the aid of your video. Blessings to you!

Enjoyed your video. Found it to be very informative. I think you should do one on "why the alarm keeps going off on the 2017 honda pilot ?"
Thank you! That’s a great idea actually, I’m taking a guess here but are having/had the problem in the past?
I did the same repair but only removed half of what you did . I was able unplug the old & put in the new without removing the middle section .
Good going 👍🏻
Me too, I removed push button and sprayed the inside with electronic parts cleaner, then put it back in and problem fixed.
Another informative video thanks

Honda finally released an unlimited warranty repair/recall for this problem.
Yes
I recently read that disabiling the VCM will improve performance and wear issues, but don’t competently understand
Vcm can have premature wear on mounts on the earth dreams engines along with a rough/delayed transition at times.

No, there’s atleast 2 versions visually atleast. There’s the older red style and the one like you see here that is backlit.
