I searched up Connor Hawke on youtube to try and learn a bit more about him while researching the Green Arrow mythos, I find it incredibly funny that a video claiming that this was an out of left field retcon was right next to this massive (and appreciated!) breakdown of how long this had been coming, but it's also why I feel work like this is important. Queer fans are often told that their presence is an intrusion, and if any character figures something out about themselves that makes them queer, it's seen as a degradation of character. Appreciate these receipts showing his history and how natural it fits his character! Even if it HAD been an incredibly recent development it still would have been valid, but this shows how little of a leg they really had to stand on. As someone on the ace spectrum myself (demiromantic demisexual), I really appreciated the nuance given for this story. I also appreciate how the writers were smart enough to know that asexuality is a spectrum and that Connor being ace doesn't inherently mean he might not want a partner, just that he doesn't want one in the same way as other people. I find that people often mistake me being demi as me just being a bit picky, or just not having any luck or whatever. But the attraction itself just doesn't come as naturally to me. I genuinely have a hard time finding interest in people unless I'm very close to them, and even then would struggle with anything sexual. Connor seems to be in a similar boat with its own distinctions and it's nice that that kind of story was put out there for people who might still be questioning themselves.
Just found this channel, really like it. Great vid on Connor Hawke the arrow family has kind of gotten the shaft in recent years, glad to see DC putting more effort into the arrow family again. Would love to see a vid from you talking about other members of the arrow family you enjoy.
Excellent Video! I could watch a whole video of you bashing on Arrow and how they messed up the arrowfam. (I will never forgive what they did to Mia). I hope you'll one day make a vidoe about why Cissie is totally a lesbian.
I haven't read any of the comics, but I want to, so do you have any Connor Hawke comic recommendations? Also what was the context for 34:44? I've seen that panel before, but not the context. Is Jon trying to figure himself out? I've just always seen this panel as Jon asking if Superman was gay for Batman.
Really nice breakdown!! The written-by-Chuck Dixon to Queer pipeline will always be incredibly funny to me.

30:42 I’m watching TMNT 2012 rn and this makes me think of the Leo and Karai thing even though they’re both Splinter’s children 😓
