This was a really nice video! Prehistoric Kingdom has been a long time coming and it's so inspiring to see it take off. And there's so much more still to come! Personally I can't wait for ontogeny to be implemented; being able to include baby animals and see them grow to adulthood will be really special. Thanks for spotlighting the game and recognizing the effort by the developers to make beautiful, accurate, enthralling prehistoric life.
Well done. The devil is in the details right? You can see the enjoyment and excitement from historical accuracy as well as the draw to what makes it fun while also learning. Love what you do for the community. You make my inner child paleontologist cry with joy time and time again!
Thank you Danny for all your hard work! We really appreciate how much you do to bring us the information we deserve! I really can't say how much it means to us all that you are as amazing as you are and share it with us!
I have to say I fully agree with the points mentioned here. Prehistoric Kingdome has incredible potential in teaching people about how the wonderful animals that once roamed the planet could have been like and Id say an overall more fun expirience in the gameplay department than JWE2 which can easly get repetitive and a bit boring at times from personal expirience. I have to say tho what really got me invested was your story of the SVP talk about Deinocheirus and just imagining it and what it must have been like made me cry cause I can just picture the pure wonder and awe it must have caused. It really hammered in the point of the magesty, mistery and wonder the extinct animal world inspires in people. And while Universal will likely always have its greedy coperate hands over the Dino market even with the Jurassic franchise coming to a temporary end with Domnion(which seems to finally be showing some more up to date stuff even if bearly) and the inevitable spin offs, reboots and what not projects like Prehistoric Kingdome and upcoming Prehistoric Planet will remind people now and in the future just how wonderous and fantastical the real animals where.
Yep. Tho I do hope people in the JW fanchise of things also keep fighting for accuracy as well. Since the death of Stan Winston dinosaur deisgns stop feeling like real animals with how the behaviour felt animalistic and their integument flowed naturally and since JW they just lost that and started feeling generic with honestly only the Carno and Stygi having somewhat decent designs. Hybrids somehow managed to get better anatomy on their feet than most other theropods in the JW series somehow. Then Dominion rolled around and they finally listened and try to incoperate some accuracy and it seems the background animals for the most part like Quetzalcoatlus,Dreadnoughtus,Oviraptor,Iguanodon(tho it seems to have the slimer Mantellisaurus proportions) all look mostly accurate for the most part. While the ones that are more on the main spotlight like the Pyroraptor or Giga still have executive restrains.
This is a fantastic video, I love your style of editing! There’s so much effort put into this game I hope it does really well :) I love how passionately you speak about palaeontology!
Thank you so much for this. The game is currently in a bundle on Humble Bundle and your video jumped out at me as a perfect video to watch to decide if I want to buy it while still in Early Access. I've decided to grab it because of your video. I love dinosaurs, but I love getting dinosaur games for my son. He's 7 and he's been obsessed with dinosaurs for a long time. He loves the Jurassic Park/World movies, but he'll tell you that the velociraptors in the movies don't look like actual ones. Now he has trouble understanding that stuff like the genetic hybrids aren't real dinosaurs because he doesn't quite understand the nuance of something having NEVER existed compared to NO LONGER exists. It's bothered me a bit because sometimes when I tell him that the Indominus Rex isn't a real dinosaur he gets confused and thinks none of them existed (my son is Autistic). But my kiddos first world he bought on Minecraft was Paleocraft because he wanted dinosaurs. He's since gotten almost every dinosaur world, even the ones that mostly have dinosaurs he has in other worlds... just to get those couple other dinosaurs he doesn't have in the other worlds. He'll tell you a Quetzalcoatlus isn't a dinosaur, it's a pterosaur and it's his favorite pterosaur. He'll tell you a Therazinosaurus was likely a herbivore, not a carnivore like Jurassic World implies. That's just a few examples I can think of to show what an interest he has at such a young age. For his 6th birthday I got him a Smithsonian Dinosaur encyclopedia and he LOVES it. I tried to play Jurassic World Evolution for him recently and he just wasn't into it. The game doesn't seem to focus as much on dinosaurs as I or he would like. So you talking about the educational aspects of Prehistoric Kingdom has me convinced to get it. So thank you. For giving me that push to get it. I can't wait to play it with my son. Edit: Also. Went ahead and subscribed and followed on Twitch. Looking forward to giving your stream a watch with my kiddo tomorrow.
Terribly sorry for the late reply here. Thank you so much for all you do! It is wonderful to read your story! I hope your son is still having a great time with dinosaurs and would love to know how Prehistoric Kingdom is working out for you a year on now. Thank you so much for your comment and your support! 💜💜💜

Very good video man. Deserves more views and likes for sure. I thought the general consensus regarding the tyrannosaurus Rex was that he more likely had lips? No? Yes? I mean I know it's still debatable and we actually might never know. If so hopefully they'll have a lipped version.
I actually really enjoy your review From your own opinion, as a non-gamer, because of the small little details to add separating this work of art to a corporate machine
I appreciate JP getting me into Dinosaurs back in the 90s, I distinguish those as dino based monsters based on outdated info now. They revolutionized CGI & practical medias to bring the JP Dinos to screen & bringing a lot of interest/attention to Dinosaurs. JP will always hold place in my heart from the nostalgia (Happy 30th anniversary JP) as well as poking fun & criticizing aspects of the franchise at the same time. It's got it's flaws certainly but it's fun. Prehistoric Kingdom is finally giving me the ability to make the Dinosaur park of my dreams (with some limitations due to early access but feels more satisfying than JP Operation Genesis & Evolution 1&2 ) but I'm enthusiastic for their models & what comes next.
Jurassic World Evolution 2 also makes a distinction between Dinosaurs and Non-Dinosaurs (except for it always saying dead Dinosaurs when something dies) and you can turn on infinite power in sandbox, so you don't have to use generators and power stations
By Thunder I do love this review of the game Danny! I have put so much more effort into this game thanks to your fantastic Twitch streams and your burning passion for the prehistoric world! PK is the game that allows me to really let lose the inner sci-com communicator in me. Looking forward to all of the game's new features and new species being added over the coming updates. The developers actions in showcasing scientific accuracy on animal designs, behavior, and even on the smaller details like habitat and plant biome preference also strongly apppeal to me as well.
i know it would be too much to ask but imagine a game that a dinosaur game that changes a design every time a dinosaur gets changed in look or behavior the developers change the dinosaur to be as accurate as possible
He's absolutely right because it's much more fascinating to have a park with scientifically accurate dinosaurs rather than monster-like ones. I just hope that Prehistoric Kingdom makes a lot more dinosaurs and mammals because at the moment they are still few. I also hope that try to improve the animations and create interactions between dinosaurs. From this point of view Jurassic Park Evolution 2 is better. Even humans who observe the park should be more active and not simple puppets walking without a purpose. However I think the best thing is to stop comparing the two games (Jurassic World Evolution 2 and Prehistoric Kingdom) because you can love both even if they are different.
Honestly, the inclusion of the ARK Giga and Rex feels very appropriate. Of course they're not scientifically accurate, but an average person playing the game wouldn't know better.

Great story telling, but not much of a review of the game tbh. I appreciate the view that Prehistoric Kingdom looks to be going down the road accuracy. I agree the Jurassic World titles have gone a bit off the rails with mutated dino's. However, Prehistoric Kingdom gameplay is not there yet in the early access when compared to a title like Planet Zoo. Hopefully that will get improved upon! Honestly if I make a JW/JP movie I’d have like an apex male trex or even just carnivore like allosaurus have cute moments or a trex pair cutetly sleeping or just being animals and thats for all animals too
The only thing I'll point out is that if you think the Jurassic World movies are about dinosaurs, then YOU are the one missing the point. Jurassic Park 3 really made it clear that the stance of the story is that Jurassic Park never successfully made dinosaurs. Alan Grant says, "What they made on that island were genetically engineered theme park monsters." Jurassic World leans hard into that philosophy. They aren't trying to be accurate. They're trying to show off the evils of uncontrolled genetic engineering backed by corporate greed. They may have gone too far in some aspects of it, but it has never been about accuracy. Putting accurate dinosaurs into the Jurassic Park franchise at this point would actually be worse, imo.
Feel it's slightly unfair to attack evolutions as their goal was to depict the fictional versions from jurassic park and the other movies. Personally glad both games exist.
Prehistoric Kingdom's dinosaur behavior isn't that good right now... But, I'm sure it'll get a bit more accurate in the future! It's still early access, after all.

In defence, he didn't say that Frontier doesn't care. Just that they are, admittedly, restricted by the nature of the IP. Representing dinos as seen in the movies (outright mentioning the talent behind the world games, but pointing out how they are hampered by IP restrictions).
@@jamestomato1744 he did say that prehistoric planet tells the difference between dinosaurs and non dinosaurs which is “something Jurassic world evolution 2 doesn’t care about” so
@@DraconianSG well yeah, but I was defending the point made on the assumption that he insinuated that Frontier games don't give enough of a shite to make the dinos realistic. When he, himself pointed out how Frontier is restricted by the IP, forced to work within the limits of how JP had already made the dinos look.
While I completely agree with Dan's statements and all that - I have to point this out - and I'll be fine if it's just me - but NOBODY talks like that to someone (like Dan's talking to the camera) x'D Like, NOBODY. It got me to the point of frustration. Like, Dan's talking here like it's a drama act or whatever.
@@jamestomato1744 my mistake
@@DraconianSG no worries man.
While I completely agree with Dan's statements and all that - I have to point this out - and I'll be fine if it's just me - but NOBODY talks like that to someone (like Dan's talking to the camera) x'D
Like, NOBODY. It got me to the point of frustration. Like, Dan's talking here like it's a drama act or whatever. Starting with a higher pitch, then lowering it for a dramatic effect and then putting an awkward smirk at the end and all of those little nuance things..... Got. me. furious and cringing reaaaaaaaaaally bad. x'D
Again, I absolutely love and support the work and hats off to everything BUT NOBODY talks like that. C'mon... x'D
