      I concur! And what's more, he made an attempt to discredit her by accusing her of being delusional, and he didn't join his mates outside to confront an explosive situation. If he didn't know her he wouldn't have taken so many steps to distance himself from her.

    I’ll add to what Alexzandar said before. The leader is watching the woman, but also, the bar is completely empty which means everybody knows who it is and is getting “in front” of the leader to protect him. Patrick knew he was lying because everybody in the bar knew who she was, hence the leader obviously does, and he gave her even a small bit of attention on top of everybody getting between her and the leader to keep the leader protected.

      This is actually genius and I didn’t even think about the actions of the others! The fact that they all went outside to address this would suggest they have prior experience with her. I was just going based on the leaders interest in her which is inconsistent with his carelessness. Welllllll done!!! 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻.

    The guy was an alpha, he shouldn't be affected by anything and be calm and collected, as Spidey said.
    But he paid attention to the women meaning that he was shaken and was not in his alpha form while being in his alpha zone.
    This is why Patrick Jane knew that he lied when he said he had nothing to do with the woman.

    The first time that I watched the episode with the Mentalist finding that ring, I had pinpointed where it was as soon as he started wandering through the crowd. And it was simply because the actress was standing there, holding her purse or menus, whatever they were, up higher on her body, with both hands. Her posture screamed "guarding" to me. Everyone else was there, holding a drink, or with their hands down (calm and ready to be entertained) or with their arms crossed (disbelieving and waiting to argue). I also like how you talk about the reptilian brain and it crossed my mind that it sounded like something that I had read about before. And it occurred to me that in a real crowd, there might have been others that semi-recognized that information and attributed Patrick's words to being true based on a passing familiarity. Of course, if there were those that studied more in depth, knew the difference, how likely would they have been to speak up, since the rest of the crowd is going along with it? That's when I really enjoy this show the most, when you see these disciplines, theories and "tricks" continually used and expanded on in various scenes. It makes it that much more enjoyable (to me) when you get to feel like you are in on the secret.

    • @SpideyHypnosis

      I agree that her body language was tight. But in real life that wouldn’t indicate much other than stress. 3:55 probably because Jane established his "baseline" I don't know the actual term for it. He understood a little about how the guy reacts when they walked in. He was calm the whole time, also when he added that she's crazy it didn't really fit his vibe/normal reaction (he seemed to talk as least as possible but in this situation he added something that wasn't necessary).

    You said comments on videos help the videos. So… I wanted to start something. On this particular video you were dead wrong, I have a friend that can do both those tricks exactly like you describe them being impossible.
    Normally I don’t name drop. But this guy is such a big name in our field, I know you know him. His name is Stu Juh. It’s ironic, a lot of people think buying a $12,000 chalkboard or a $5000 table to do design duplication is fair game. But when Stu is involved, they call cheating.
    In my opinion, when Stu Juh, shows up, he is perfectly valid and no more dishonest than anything we do.

But, if it's the same scenario as shown, if jane gave his own ring, went somewhere else and told a person to hide it(assuming there was no accomplice in the crowd helping jane), it would not have been possible. It's not like he senses where his ring is. Maybe it's harder to believe and bugs me because it's a ring.
      Or its a ring with a detector on it haha. Technology has grown so much now. There are many magic tools. He can turn that to his advantage.

    My only guess as to how Patrick knew the guy was lying was a lack of surprise. The "boss" wasn't surprised when cops walked in, and he wasn't surprised when the lady was causing a scene outside. There are a lot of emotions than can be masked or hidden, but (unless I am mistaken) surprise is not one of them.

    • @SpideyHypnosis
      @SpideyHypnosis  3 роки тому

      Interesting. You’re right that surprise is very hard to conceal. But where you lost me is how you equated a lack of surprise to a lie. Like why is it necessarily a lie just because he’s not surprised.

    • @yemej
      @yemej 3 роки тому

      @@SpideyHypnosis I am making a few assumptions, as I don't watch the show. Assumption 1: the biker gang, and specifically the "boss" committed a crime. Assumption 2: the police suspect the biker gang of said crime and are investigating. Assumption 3: the "boss" does in fact know the lady that was causing a scene.
      So even if all the players have all the information, and even if they all knew that the others had all of the information, it comes down to the evidence and what could be proven in court. I guess it just struck me as odd (suspicious) that he was as casual about the whole incident as he was.

      @SpideyHypnosis  3 роки тому

      @@yemej ok so the 3rd assumption is correct. The first two are not.

    You COULD have the ring of the guy be hidden when you are away and find it!
    But you need to think out of the box.
    1) have a confederate there
    2) have a drone with with a gimbal controlled Telephoto lens hovering above the gathering. And you can even pattern track a person! And being away is easier, because you can look at your phone to a live feat! And drones used by law enforcement actually do this already for crowd surveillance.
    3) Here one for you have a couple of 360 cameras mounted from the rafters from your venue and you can actually do it the same way.
    We put cameras with 8mm equivalent lenses in tiny tests and that was 12 years ago :)
    Does it require setup and therefore not impromptu sure!
    I did a lot of FX for TV shows and this is how far we went. Creating bespoke electronics and software and furniture or boxes to house the gimmicks in, the prop guys were insane!
    I created this self contained open prediction system. That blew magicians minds, because it was so clean they said it’s pre show. But it was done then and there. Highly customized “hacked” because back then technology wasn’t as self contained.
    And during that season of the next Uri Geller we used the hell out of that system.
    My best mentalism I created was for that show and I didn’t even get to perform it as the consultant :) When you have enough financial and good crafty resources you can create miracles.

    Another great video - thanks! What's your opinion of the British mentalist Derren Brown? He has done this sort of 'parlour trick' of claiming to be guided by someone's reactions, while holding their hand, in order to find a hidden object. But he has also been honest and admitted that he uses deception and misdirection as well as real skills in his performances, so we are always left wondering how he does things.

Muscle reading is a real thing, I covered it in my second video in this breakdown series. Now a lot of mentalists actually do muscle reading and a lot of mentalists pretend to muscle reading when there’s another principle at play. It’s almost impossible to tell the difference. you probably won't see this but this question popped into my head so I have to ask. in psychological tests, questions often get repeated (only phrased differently) in order to see if people actually want that answer BUT considering the foot in the door thing, isn't there a chance that people stick to their answer simply because they said one thing the first time and now feel committed to answer like this each time(even when it might be wrong and not really fit their mental state)? wouldn't that screw the test?

    If A* Biker is in charge, and the others are lackeys, then when a crazy ranting woman shows up, you can infer some things by how the other Bikers interact with her. For example, if the Crazy lady was A*'s mother, they would treat her with respect.

  • @ryanburkett949
    @ryanburkett949 3 роки тому

    The ring thing would also have been possible if the mentalist first had them put the ring in some sort of case/box/ or bag. I have seen it done that way at a stage show. He has the volunteer put her ring in the ring box to keep it safe from damage as the other volunteers hid it.

But it's discrete I don't know if would be enough. There is one guy looking at the woman outside... He looks a little concerned. I don't know... Just didn't seem like there was no threat there. My guess to how patrick knew the biker leader was lying is because the biker leader immediately tried to come to a conclusion that the women was "deranged" so that they wouldn't be on the topic longer (which is risky as there's a chance he might give himself away )and tried to isolate himself from the situation. The biker leader also casually walks away, this could also indicate that he doesn't want to continue the conversation.
