I agree; if only they would hire consultants in this manner (like the show) where someone can use their real ability to cold read or use observational skills and actually help solve cases with little red tape. Some places hire psychic consultants which is a scam and a sham and it bothers me SO MUCH that someone is getting paid to pretend to divine information and essentially hurts a case or makes a mockery of it. Psychics don’t exist it’s all pre show work and cold reading among 100s of other principles and then prey on the vulnerable which is completely unfair and aggravating.

I’m hugely interested in Hypnosis and NLP, but 90% of the NLP and hypnosis trainers out there are creepy, old, and/or boring. I love this very clear and interesting explanation of these concepts. Thanks!

From someone who has zero knowledge about hypnosis and has tried all your (can I hypnotize you) videos sadly with no real effect 😭. I was blown away to hear this episode is actually half legit. I used to think this episode was insane 🙄.

As a former performing stage hypnotist and someone with a minor in psychology (useless waste of time), I always had a problem that you won’t do something against your will.
I know dozens of people that took the jab against their will, simply because they were coerced with not being able to have social interactions. That’s following a suggestion (medically not even ethical) doing something against your will.
When a person doesn’t dare to take of their clothes you can “desensitize” them by setting them right on the “line” that they feel comfortable - and you don’t need hypnosis.
After a few times that line of “what’s acceptable” is shifted.
During my hypnosis trainings I compare it to intercourse, that initially it’s just straightforward and you don’t want to think about trying other things. But after a couple of times intercourse is normal and you move further down what initially wasn’t acceptable is now acceptable.
IT’s like that pacifist soldier that seen so much violence that becomes a ruthless killer.
It’s called “desensitization”

There is no “little hypnosis” you can either hypnotize or you can’t. It’s not like magic where there are millions of tricks.

@@athuldas6494 I did. I have a full DVD (or digital download) called induction, I talk about it a lot on the Chanel. It can take you from knowing nothing about hypnosis, to being able to hypnotize people anywhere you go. It’s exactly what you’re looking for

Yes, please more of the reacting to the mentalist videos, these are great! ^^ Maybe you could talk a little bit more about the microexpressions? Jane looks for that a lot, is this something you rely on during your shows as well? Or is it too unreliable?
Most mentalists know nothing about micro expressions. I’ve studied them a little but they are very hard to spot because they only last a second and basically the only thing they can tell you is a persons emotional state. That’s literally it

I think your comment about how Rigsby came out of his trance and immediately reacted underestimates the training cops receive. He was trained to react instantly to certain threats like a gun.

My overall all thought about the girl at the end and how it relates to the great acting on the show:
I feel like some people are good at acting after years of training, but unless professionally trained people who are hypnotized as claimed by the hypnotist would be making very obvious mistakes in the deception involved with acting like it worked when it didn't when talking about it.
So, if anyone still doesn't believe people get hypnotized, I would say, the alternative is that lots and lots of people, none of whom ever rehearsed anything in a show and many who don't even believe it is possible are absolutely natural born acting geniuses--which seems far less likely to me.
Yep that’s what I say often. Like thousands of people come on my stage a year with zero training in acting and do and say these HILARIOUS things, without even cracking a smile, Oscar worthy performances. If they are acting, they should consider becoming professional actors lol

Hi Spidey. This was really interesting.
When you was talking about the onion eating, I recollect a clip from the Swedish Talang, where the host Pär get hypnotised and starts to pet a bird.
He (Pär) is afraid of birds, but he is convinced its a dog. During the clip, he seems verry confused and sort of disorientated and almost kind of drunk.
Is this anything you can take a look at, and try to explain what the "client" sense and feels -how he experience the situation. =)

There is just one thing I still wonder, can someone be really stuck in a transe if you let him go like that ? Here he tries to figure out the trigger, if he didn't find it would the guy stay like that a long time? Encore merci pour la super vidéo!
You can give someone “post hypnotic suggestions” which is things that will happen even after they’re out of trance or shortcuts to get them back into trance but yeah, you can’t maintain someone in hypnosis for that long

It depends entirely on the suggestions given by the hypnotist. If nothing is said it can go either way 😊

Love these videos. Thanks to you me and the wife are bingeing. We are in the middle of season 3. I have a question. Can you show a clip of him grabbing someone’s wrist or shoulder and explain what he’s doing. Is that his method to get them to relax and answer questions they don’t want to answer?
I think they’re suggesting he’s going into lie detection mode and taking their pulse. I’m still trying to figure out how I’m going to tackle the lie detection stuff because it’s such a complex hybrid of fact and fiction 😆
Waking from an Hypnotic state is something my friends and I would call "Hypno-Groggy".

What's funny about the people that say "that's not real" about hypnosis is that it's literally what hypnosis is about hehe, if you believe it is real, it is, if you believe it isn't it isn't. It's interesting if you think about it

I much prefer the subtle ways they led up to things in The Mentalist over 'Lie to Me'..
That was a little bit melodramatic most of the time and had me rolling my eyes with how obvious the pitfalls were.
I do believe in hypnosis.
When I was a kid around 6-7 years old.
I went to see the magic show in my city and the magician asked for the volunteer from the audience and I went up. He introduced me with the audience and after that I didn't remember anything except someone holding me and saying, "When we ask you move front and back"
But after the act was over I was sent back to my seat and my brother told me "I was flying in the air in the horizontal position"
And I did not remember what happened and how it happened 😃

I went to see Paul McKennas hypnotic show about 15 years ago here in the UK.
I was lucky enough to be picked from members of the audience after seemingly being quite susceptible to hypothesis through tasks we were asked to do.
To cut a long story short, i was fully aware of everything going on and went along with it through an embarrassment of not wanting to ruin the performance.
During the intermission we were allowed back to mingle with friends but were told that when a specific sound was played over the loud speakers we must return to resume the show.
Needless to say, the sound que was given and i was too embarrassed not to go back and potentially ruin the show.
Since that day, i lost interest in hypothesis as for me, i was only compelled through not wanting to let the audience or Paul McKenna down so i played along.
I wonder how many others have done the same thing
Ultimately it doesn’t matter. I once dressed up as an astronaut for halloween. I looked like an astronaut but I wasn’t really an astronaut and didn’t really go to the moon. Does this mean astronauts don’t exist or that nobody has actually ever been to outer space? One person’s anecdote does not counter an entire field of inquiry with scientific research backing it up.
In short the answer to your question is: sure, some people play along. And?...

I know even the best hypnotists can mistakenly pick someone who isnt fully susceptible.

I saw a hypnotist and mentalist when I visited Vegas and the mentalist was scarier and the hypnotist was funny. I saw The main person being hypnotized the next night at a Concert and he was with his friends. I kind of thought maybe he was a stooge, bit i didn't know what to think. I kind of wonder if the mentalist story was true, but knowing what I know now, I assume it's part of his character and will enjoy it for what it is, and not ruin it, I'd definitely go see it again.

Not a hypnotist, but about the skepticism... I think it would be easier to make somebody imagine something than make them act this convincingly without massive training (usually said about the more dramatic stuff)
The scene with tossing in the sea was pretty weird. Why would he want to toss his friend in the sea? She didn't make it seem like Jane was something else that he'd want to discard. But in the end, I thought it would have been way cooler for Patrick Jane to snap him out of the transce by shouting "Gun" as it enters his peripheral vision. His cop instincts should have kicked in and snapped him out of it. Would have made more sense, I think.
