Mine arrived today from Chicago Music Exchange. What a great guitar…really above my expectations. Great build quality. Great neck. Nice big SJ-200 sound. 10/10.
I just received mine. This is a fabulous guitar. No, it's not as loud as a dread, but it sounds fantastic. I had previously owned the IBG J200 standard and this is definitely a step up. I ordered the sunburst version and it's just a great guitar. I did have to adjust the action a bit, but that was a fairly easy fix. I definitely give this guitar high marks.
It's a beautiful sounding and looking guitar, and a nice demo. I own and play quite a few Epis though not a 6-string acoustic - just the 12-string, and I'm sure this year I'll be adding this one. Thanks for posting and stay safe! 😊
Very interested in this I just hope it’s lighter/thinner wood than the standard IBG J200. I have a Epiphone Elite Japan made J200 intrigued to see how this stacks up to that as the Japan made elite is an exceptional instrument
Be nice to see that 57' SJ-200 in a no pickguard, and double pickguard options..... Honestly at 1,499 it should be customizable along with the color....
Elvis counts as a guitar player? The other players mention did not play an Epiphones, they played Gibson’s. George Harrison’s jumbo had a different saddle configuration. Just saying. I have a IBG hummingbird ( Indonesian) and love it and would love to own one of these Epi’s and J~45.
is this the same jumbo from epiphone that came out 2-3 years ago? only changes are comes with a hardcase, got a LR baggs pickup and the gibson headstock?
@@victoresarey4036 It's all in your head. No one is going to see, feel or hear the difference between a laurel or a rosewood fretboard. They are similar trees. I have a 12,000 dollar Conde guitar with a pau ferro fretboard, also no rosewood. The whole 'rosewood thing' is a big exaggeration. Everyone repeats each other. Makes me tired.

@@marchel9322 It's more how it looks rather than how it sounds, I agree it doesn't;t change the sound much if at all. Indian Laurel looks better that Pau Ferro but it still feels cheap and looks cheap up close, more than fine for a more budget-friendly alternative not a 1500 Dollar guitar
I have a gibson j200 standard and also a sigma j200 (an 8 year old one with rosewood fretboard, they use micarta for the board and the bridge, imho i think the new ones don't sound as good), my gibson is my prized possesion❤, but the sigma is so close to it!! pound for pound they cannot compare! this would have been very interesting to me if it didn't have that ugly satin finish.
Is the body of this new Epiphone inspired by Gibson 1957 SJ-200 Custom Shop, the same depth as the original Gibson J200 or is it thinner, like is the J-200 Epiphone inspired by Gibson that was released around 3 years ago?, that has not the same body depth than the original Gibson J200, is thinner.
You’re just a snob 😂 All solid wood, sounds amazing , a super nice hard case, LR Baggs pickup, thermally aged top.. No but you’re right, that’s too much for all that..🤣🤣
Why would someone be dumb to do that? Gibson is not just guitars, it is art. The gloss, the smell of nitro, the legend and the legacy.. In addition, Gibson guitars become more and more valuable over the years. All things you won't find in this Epiphone guitar. For some people an Epiphone is enough, and that's okay. I have and am saving for Gibsons. Anyone who has this Epi would trade it in for a Gibson ES355 without a second thought if the opportunity was there, that's a fact. It is imitation and will always be. Like your not so good looking girlfriend buys a Kim Kardashian butt in Brazil.
@@dylan3058 sad that we’ve come this far to let the Chinese take our heritage of craftsmanship away to a foreign nation. I’ll stay happy with my all American made D28 Martin 12-String, GPCPA4 Martin and Ovation 1986-6 string.
Safe to say finally! A proper Epiphone J-200!

@@jamesgibson3242 Sunburst!
Where is it made?

Hand crafted in China
I played one today and was genuinely impressed. This is a very "real" and well made instrument. Finish feels and looks great in my opinion.

Great idea with the truss rod cover
Great for Epiphone and good for Gibson. A popular guitar keeping Gibson on its toes!
Looks like Noel Gallagher’s J150 with that matte finish. I really love what Epiphone/Gibson have been putting out over the last couple of years.

The fact that he doesn't bother letting us hear what it sounds like unplugged should set your alarm bells ringing.
You basically get a Taylor 618e at more than half the price.

The biggest change being the aged top, which will improve the sound dramatically
@@The666vipand it also has scalloped bracing
Bone nut and saddle as well as a 1.73 inch nut.
Aged top, full body depth, different shape in general, proper bridge, yadda yadda yadda.
Open moustache bridge and engraved pickguard… finally looks like the real deal.
Is the neck on this model a thin, medium, or thick C shape?
I just got mine and it’s more of a thicker C for sure
@@davidlockemusic Thanks friend. How's the tone and volume? Some I've heard on youtube did not sound like they had much bass.

Over a 1000 bucks and no rosewood….
