All of these Inspired by Gibson models are great, but why Epiphone do you continues to ignore the original... When are we getting a Les Paul Gold top with P90's, could be year specific '54 or '57, or just give us a 'LP Standard 50's.
well its smarter of them to retain the epiphone headstock for lower end models so people would buy the higher end ones.. people are suckers for headstock shape..
I got one of the first run 1959 les Paul's and I love it. I truly think it's a great thing that we are seeing both Epiphone and Squier making instruments that are affordable and more often then not better quality then instruments selling for a lot more. I disagree with people who say that your paying Gibson prices for a lesser guitar it's true that you are paying what you would for a low end Gibson costs but for what you get you would have to pay much more i do agree that some of the ascetic improvements should be made throughout epiphone but these instruments are incredible value for the money.
A ES-335 in gloss cherry red, slightly aged binding, rosewood fretboard with mini block inlays, standard open book headstock, nickel hardware, green keystone tuners and 59 profile neck would be my dream Epiphone 🤟
Yes, I really fancy that one too. But I wonder just how fat the new fatter neck is? The 'slim taper' predecessor felt a little but odd, so fatter is good, but let's wait and see....
I confese I am a brand name snob until tpday. I have all 3 big names guitars including aFender Custom shop and Gibson Delux Gold Top. Today I got my first Epiphone, a Gibson 1959 Standard custom and WOW. This guitar is just beautiful. Thew sound and sustain never stops. No need for pedals just play it out the box. Thank you for a grwat video and better still an off the plant product. This is the first of a new collection for me. You are now one of the big 4 players in guitars.

@OakLawnSpeedShop a 50's tribute isn't going to have a gloss nitro finish anyway, and "Tribute" level Gibson NEVER go up in value... they sell on reverb for less than what they cost new.
Got the 59 Lp. Insane build quality. The custom shop pick ups are crazy beautiful tones. If you always wanted a VOS Gibson but the price was too high buy one of these. You will NOT be disappointed!!
That 355 looks amazing! This really is an amazing value for the money. Based on the quality of my Epi 58 Korina V, and 150th Anniversary Sheraton I know these are going to be amazing. I'll have to get a couple of these! Would love to see a 1956 LP in GoldTop and Ebony with cream P90s, and a CS-359
I just bought the Custom Tuxedo and can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm never ashamed to say I play Epiphones. Keep up the great work. I'd like to see a sparkly green or purple LP with P90's from this line.
They won`t. Just look at the comments here. People are all raving about how great these guitars are, and they will buy them. Why should Gibson upgrade, if they sell anyway?
For this price range I def expect Rosewood and Ebony where appropriate. Hell, I'd expect that if everything was $200 less across the board (Which will be what these will start selling for in a year when they're still in stock)
Get some black shoe polish, end result, Laurel that looks like rosewood or ebony. Just saying, color is the only difference, don’t effect the sound quality or playability
Thank you Gibson! I was saving up for a Greeny because I wanted the Open Book headstock but now I can get that Open Book headstock a bit cheaper now! All of them are so beautiful I’m not sure which one to choose from! One of my favorite guitarist is Jimmy Page so I might have to try and recreate his number one with that Factory Burst and some gold Grover tuners!
If you’re a Jimmy Page fan Gibson just started collaborating with him to make Jimmy Page signature guitars. If they do what they did with the Kirk Hammett Greeny and Adam Jones Silverburst I think we might see a Jimmy Page signature Epiphone Les Paul down the pipeline.
These are awesome! Just ordered the Les Paul custom and es 355! Both in white. As someone who has m2m Gibsons and a Gibson Les Paul custom from 94. These are definitely going to be great guitars to bring on the road and use! Been a fan of Epiphone for a long time and always wanted them to use Gibson headstock with detail to the parts! Only thing I say is you missed the mark with a 1960 dc jr to the line up. As Epiphone doesn’t offer a double cut jr. Maybe next line?
Not me. I’ve had friends whose equipment was stolen. Imagine being so defiant and having a $8700 ES-355 come up missing…. Why gig with something you need to be watching 24/7? Get one of these and stress less. Seems like common sense to me
You guys are something else. You have asked for Gibson like headstocks for years and closer appointments to Gibson originals, epiphone goes out and gives it to you and you have to come up with a few more reasons to crap on them. Isn't the whole selling point on these is the electronics? If you're upgrading the pickups what's the difference between the R9 or a standard that costs half the price? Just the construction?
1:30 Long neck tenons?! That's friggin amazing! I knew about the USA electronics but long neck tenons on these I didn't know about. That really is custom shop level stuff. I love knowing the neck pickup is bolted right on top of that neck joint for that extra ping/sustain from the neck vibration.
Rosewood is being used less and less for some restriction thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if Gibson themselves started using laurel on Gibson models and save rosewood for the custom shop ones as they are in limited quantity.
Don’t know why they keep calling it a VOS finish when these are just satin/matte. The VOS finish is nitro and just isn’t buffed out to a high polish, but it is still glossy…

They calm it that as that’s what it is. VOS (Vintage Original Sheen) finishes, have a gently aged appearance, with lightly dulled gloss nitrocellulose finishes and some patina on the hardware. Gibson Custom Shop uses it all the time on their Historical lines.

I bought the inspired by Gibson les Paul junior 2020. Swapped the p90 out for an Seymour Duncan antiquity. Sanded the poly off the neck…gave it a set up and the guitar rips. Sustain for days.

They are cool guitars but the big increase in price is a little concerning. Epiphones are supposed to be affordable yet this 2024 range is that same price as low end Gibsons 🤔
For what you get they are affordable. Amazing guitars for the price. I know because my tuxedo custom just arrived yesterday and it's taken everything I've thrown at it.

The older models were 999 USD, with the new ones being 1299. That’s only a 30 percent increase in price. 189 of those dollars can be attributed to the custom shop humbuckers, leaving 111 USD for the headstock. So I guess the headstock is only worth an 11 percent increase in price.
@@danieldaniels6371Well the older model was $799 not $999 when it dropped. Custombuckers don't cost Gibson any more money to wind than burstbuckers. So tell me where the $500 extra value is again.
Look, I hate price hikes like anybody else. But, the specs are VERY relevant here. You can still buy $600 Epiphones. That still exists. This new flood of medium tier pricing was shocking at first just because it has Epiphone on the headstock, but if you start figuring in the hardware and just the pickups alone, you're getting a very good guitar for a fair price. It is clear that Epiphone is diverging into a multi-tier priced manufacturer and is not going to just be the entry level guitar anymore. I still prefer my Epis over actual Gibsons that were triple the cost. There's a curve to acceptance, but it's going to be okay. Having said that, they're still out of their minds with some of the signature guitars, but that's a different animal.
Is it really the custombuckers on 59 les paul ? Someone told me that they are custombuckers made in china sold under gibson brand but not USA made . Please clarify
Don’t forget the late 90s Japan Epiphones already had the open book headstock with one piece necks, real maple top, and mahogany bodies. I’m glad they finally brought the specs back!! That Headstock is really gonna make me play so much better now lol 😮😅😂
Paying Gibson price for an import is ridiculous. Gibson uses their CNC programs in the Asian manufacture, and VOILA! Nothing more than just a different cut, and Gibson pickups which don't really cost a lot (except for customers) to produce as mass-production items. I got a mint used Black Gibson Midtown Custom for about the same as these import copies, and it looks, plays and sounds like a dream. So, if it's to get the "real deal", then go for it, and get the "real deal". I mean, in the principle, I have nothing against Epiphone making exact copies of Gibson guitars, but some of them are getting close to the 2000$ mark, which is a totally absurd price. For to pay such a price for an Epiphone, it would have to be really really special, like I don't know ... stainless steel jumbo frets, graphite rods reinforced neck, a PLEK fret job, comfort neck to body joint, great fast neck with modern slim taper profile, great locking tuners, compensated graphtech nut, fine tuning stop tailpiece, great pickups and reliable electronics (Bourns 82 series potentiometers, etc) and all the "beauty appointments": great multiply bindings on the top & back of the body, the neck and the headstock + pearl or abalone fretboard inlays, etc... I mean, the whole shebang, like on some great fancy LTD 1000 Deluxe and some more. Otherwise, these import Epiphone "Gibson copies" should only be at a maximum around 1000$ mark and not more. Anyway, HAVE FUN & PLAY LOUD ! 👍👍

Only *$1,200* for a made-in-china guitar with a laurel fretboard ? wow , that's a *steal* . I would be willing to pay $1,000 more if it stays in tune .
These look awesome but I’ll wait to buy one used at a discount. My Bonamassa ES-335 was $1300 new and no one is paying over $800 for it used. Great guitar though and I’m in no rush to part with it. At the used prices these new Epiphones will be a steal for the specs you’re getting.

2024 is the year of Epiphone. I'm glad to see Gibson making strides to have a guitar for every price point. For those complaining about the Epiphone's "high prices", it's not like they discontinued the lines that are more affordable. You still have those options. This just expands on those options and bridges the gap between Gibson USA and Epiphone. (Before someone says it, yes I realize prices have skyrocketed the past 3 years because of inflation, but that has had an impact on almost every product you buy. Guitars certainly won't be an exception and Gibson was not the only brand to have to raise prices)
I absolutely love what you guys have done! Thank you for the open book headstocks!!! I'm only 2 minutes into the video I can't wait to watch the next 17 minutes. It's been hard to watch Gibson's get more and more expensive because it looked like you were taking them out of the hands of the players. But with these Epiphones it's like you're putting them back in our hands. I paid $2500 for my Classic Gold Top in the 90's and while it was a lot to me in my 20's I didn't care. I knew what I was getting! I play that guitar with pride. That guitar is like a piece of my arm now! I'll pay for quality. And I just didn't like that Epiphone headstock on a LP. I've been happy enough with it on my Hollow bodies. But I just couldn't bring myself to buy a Les Paul with the Epiphone headstock. 🤷 Seeing and hearing these Customs! Oh Boy!😁 I'm so excited to try these models out. I know I'm going to end up owning.
The mention of the "tuxedo" Les Paul, got me to thinking ...why not a '54 Les Paul Cutom with original Staple and P90 pickups? That would be £1200 well spent in my view and I'd be at the front of the queue for certain !!!

Laurel i think is actually rather nice. And you can stain them if you'd like a darker finish :)

They are cool guitars but the big increase in price is a little concerning. Epiphones are supposed to be affordable yet this 2024 range is that same price as low end Gibsons 🤔
They will help folks get into a Gibson rather than pay Gibson price for an EPI! 🤦🤔
For what you get they are affordable. Amazing guitars for the price. I know because my tuxedo custom just arrived yesterday and it's taken everything I've thrown at it.

I’m so looking forward to this guitar. Gibson Custom Shop offers their core finish options, one of them being VOS (Vintage Original Sheen). Standard on Custom Shop Historic Reissue models. Parts are lightly aged for authentic vintage patina. Finish is buffed to a light matte appearance.

The older models were 999 USD, with the new ones being 1299. That’s only a 30 percent increase in price. 189 of those dollars can be attributed to the custom shop humbuckers, leaving 111 USD for the headstock. So I guess the headstock is only worth an 11 percent increase in price.
@@danieldaniels6371Well the older model was $799 not $999 when it dropped. Custombuckers don't cost Gibson any more money to wind than burstbuckers. So tell me where the $500 extra value is again.

Look, I hate price hikes like anybody else. But, the specs are VERY relevant here. You can still buy $600 Epiphones. That still exists. This new flood of medium tier pricing was shocking at first just because it has Epiphone on the headstock, but if you start figuring in the hardware and just the pickups alone, you're getting a very good guitar for a fair price. It is clear that Epiphone is diverging into a multi-tier priced manufacturer and is not going to just be the entry level guitar anymore. I still prefer my Epis over actual Gibsons that were triple the cost. There's a curve to acceptance, but it's going to be okay. Having said that, they're still out of their minds with some of the signature guitars, but that's a different animal.

Is it really the custombuckers on 59 les paul ? Someone told me that they are custombuckers made in china sold under gibson brand but not USA made . Please clarify

Don’t forget the late 90s Japan Epiphones already had the open book headstock with one piece necks, real maple top, and mahogany bodies. I’m glad they finally brought the specs back!! That Headstock is really gonna make me play so much better now lol 😮😅😂
Paying Gibson price for an import is ridiculous. Gibson uses their CNC programs in the Asian manufacture, and VOILA! Nothing more than just a different cut, and Gibson pickups which don't really cost a lot (except for customers) to produce as mass-production items.
I got a mint used Black Gibson Midtown Custom for about the same as these import copies, and it looks, plays and sounds like a dream. So, if it's to get the "real deal", then go for it, and get the "real deal".
I mean, in the principle, I have nothing against Epiphone making exact copies of Gibson guitars, but some of them are getting close to the 2000$ mark, which is a totally absurd price.
For to pay such a price for an Epiphone, it would have to be really really special, like I don't know ... stainless steel jumbo frets, graphite rods reinforced neck, a PLEK fret job, comfort neck to body joint, great fast neck with modern slim taper profile, great locking tuners, compensated graphtech nut, fine tuning stop tailpiece, great pickups and reliable electronics (Bourns 82 series potentiometers, etc) and all the "beauty appointments": great multiply bindings on the top & back of the body, the neck and the headstock + pearl or abalone fretboard inlays, etc...
I mean, the whole shebang, like on some great fancy LTD 1000 Deluxe and some more.
Otherwise, these import Epiphone "Gibson copies" should only be at a maximum around 1000$ mark and not more.

These look awesome but I’ll wait to buy one used at a discount. My Bonamassa ES-335 was $1300 new and no one is paying over $800 for it used. Great guitar though and I’m in no rush to part with it. At the used prices these new Epiphones will be a steal for the specs you’re getting.

Ehh Epiphone makes the money that allows Gibson to function. Separate names and country or origin but Gibson owns Epi at the end of the day.
2024 is the year of Epiphone. I'm glad to see Gibson making strides to have a guitar for every price point. For those complaining about the Epiphone's "high prices", it's not like they discontinued the lines that are more affordable. You still have those options. This just expands on those options and bridges the gap between Gibson USA and Epiphone.
(Before someone says it, yes I realize prices have skyrocketed the past 3 years because of inflation, but that has had an impact on almost every product you buy. Guitars certainly won't be an exception and Gibson was not the only brand to have to raise prices)

I'm only 2 minutes into the video I can't wait to watch the next 17 minutes.
It's been hard to watch Gibson's get more and more expensive because it looked like you were taking them out of the hands of the players.
But with these Epiphones it's like you're putting them back in our hands.
I paid $2500 for my Classic Gold Top in the 90's and while it was a lot to me in my 20's I didn't care. I knew what I was getting!
I play that guitar with pride.
That guitar is like a piece of my arm now!
I'll pay for quality.
And I just didn't like that Epiphone headstock on a LP. I've been happy enough with it on my Hollow bodies.
But I just couldn't bring myself to buy a Les Paul with the Epiphone headstock. 🤷
