Simon once again projecting himself onto footballers. He’s simply talking about himself here cos he hasn’t got any solid information about why Ben White doesn’t want to be called up. There are a multitude of legitimate reasons why a player wouldn’t want to play for his country - we won’t know why until we hear it from the horse’s mouth.
He says exactly that at the start, we don't know the facts, but judging it on what we do know Ben White can piss off, end of. Whatever the reason is, we don't need or want someone who isn't desperate to play for the country.

It is surely to do with a decision Southgate has made somewhere along the line that Ben White must have fundamentally disagreed with or was offended by. There have been many squad announcements that have befuddled the fanbase during Southgates time as England boss. My money is on Ben feeling marginalized at some point in time so much so that he felt it's best to not make himself available until Southgate is gone.
England have had the best squad in world football for years but have a championship manager in charge.White is probably sick of the clown.

best squad??? Haven't had a world class defender since Terry and Ferdinand. Don't say stones or Trent either as neither are good defenders. Haven't had a world class midfielder since Gerard. Rice is garbage and does nothing but point to pass to other players. Bellingham may be world class but unproven at international level. Kane world class and a handful of very good players in Foden and ehhhhhhhhhhhh someone else probably.

I don't understand why such a fuss is made over this, especially when there are other players who have played well for their clubs that haven't been included. There have been players picked time and time again, regardless of form for their clubs, not enough is made of that, in my opinion.
In order to win tournaments you got to have the players and "on form" which England has in abundance....
But in order for all that individual talents to be unleashed you need a capable manager who can get those talents to perform at their peak and unfortunately Southgate just isn't it...

i'm a sparky and i really enjoy my job, but i'm not watching other electricians on youtube or going to trade exhibitions and shows. outside of my 9-5 i don't care about it. ben white is exactly the same when it comes to football. he's clearly very good at it but it was not his career choice. he's got a gift for the game but not the love for it. in many interviews he's stated such. he will not care one way or another about playing for england. i imagine that onc he hits 30 he'll probably retire form football altogether.
Media and pundits want to believe that playing for England is the pinnacle of every English player. Truth is, that's not true for everyone.

Gareth Southgate picks his team based on personal relationships as much he does footballing achievement, and I could certainly understand players taking issue with this. For a player to turn down playing for their country, I would suggest the manager is doing something very wrong.

I very very rarely seek to make a racial comment on UA-cam because it will always be twisted and assumed the worst. But there's this great sadness in the pit of my stomach that if he were a black Englishman with his skillset and calibre, his "Englishness" would be questioned; his loyalty to his country would be judged; how disrespectful it is to the King and to country etc. The usual nationalism parroting. Credit to Ben White for standing on what he believes is right. That's all this is. A disagreement between him and management. Something we all can salute for an employee standing up for himself. But if he were not a white Englishman, I fear the conversation topics would be far more polarising.
