I'm currently knitting on colorwork socks for my dad, the Ka'naa Shawlette for my Gramma and the Ranunculus sweater for myself. Trying to start on my Christmas knitting too :)
Oh Gabriella, you are the absolute sweetest!! Not only do I adore your knitting but you are just such a kind soul. I'm so genuinely happy our paths crossed 🤗 Your Elizabeth the 1st sweater is stunning and so very elegant and I can't wait to see more of it! And those strawberry shortcake socks are adorable! I'm a child of the 80s and can vividly remember having a bunch of the little dolls each having their own delightful fruity smell 😊 With regards to your question about whether or not to frog your blanket I'm all for frogging something if you don't love it 💙
Thank you so much Nikki!! I feel the very same way. You are just a wealth of inspiration, seeing you on this platform always puts a smile on my face. 🥰 Oh those fruity smells!!! I am so glad you share in that nostalgia with me. 🍓💕
Awww! Thank you for the lovely mention! You are the sweetest Gabriella! I looove your strawberry shortcake socks! You could also make a pair of socks for Esmeralda, matching you! You should totally have enough with those 40 grams left over! And I would frog the blanket…but I don’t have a problem with frogging if the project is not working. If you think, you’ve had it sitting there for so many years without a purpose. If you rip it back, you can use the yarn and you will give it purpose and you can add it to the blanket that you are making and enjoying soooo much!! So I think you should go for it!! Have a wonderful week!! Hugs!
YOU are the sweetest Fernanda!! It is such a pleasure, and thank you so much! I love that idea of matching socks 💗 I think you're right about frogging- I need to get better at that and be a little more unattached, because I really will enjoy it more!! Wishing you a wonderful week as well!! 🥰
It definitely sounds like frogging is a good idea, so you can enjoy creating with the yarns full of memories & enjoy using the finished piece- and have the good memories & not memories of the moths. Have a wonderful US visit! I’m hoping to get back for a family visit in September 😊
Thank you so much!! You put it so brilliantly- not the memories of the moths 😍 I am so happy to hear that you will hopefully be getting back to visit too! It is such a precious feeling to be able to visit again after having not been able to. 🥰 💕
I recently started binge watching all of your podcast episodes and love them so much! You know, almost right away I said to myself, "I bet she was homeschooled." And quite a few episodes later that was confirmed. Having homeschooled my own three daughters for a total of 25 years you can just kind of "tell" when you meet someone else who has been educated at home...something about the way you articulate so well, and the things that you're interested in, and your enthusiasm for the simple things in life. That's too bad about not being able to homeschool your little girl in Germany, but you seem like someone who will naturally be educating her in so many ways outside of school. Good luck to you! (And I love all Regia yarn-it's the best for socks and so reasonably priced.)
That is such a compliment! Thank you! I love finding and hearing about other homeschoolers and homeschool families. 💕 I am so glad you are enjoying the podcast. Wishing you a wonderful rest of your week with lots of very happy knitting! 🥰
Thank you so much for your kindness! Made me tear up over here ❤️🙈 I always look forward to your uploads and admire your beautiful knitting so much ❤️❤️ I’d definitely frog the blanket! You know me, though, I almost frog as much as I knit… what I would personally do is rip out the blanket, ball up the colors that match with your patchwork blanket, and any that don’t, I would chop up very fine and put in my giant jar of toy animal stuffing. 🐶🧶
You are the sweetest, Alexandra!! You truly brighten up my creative life so much, it is a pleasure 💓☺️💓 You are the frogging queen, and I definitely need a slice of your perspective on it. I don't know why it's so hard! Saving the small bits for animal stuffing is such a good idea 😍
Another lovely episode. 1x1 twisted rib is my favourite for socks, and definitely Cuff down. I have also made socks in the Regia tutti fruity cotton blend in the watermelon colourway. Really pretty. So pleased you like the rose city roller socks!!! ❤️
Thank you so much Cath, that is so kind of you!! 💕 I bet the watermelon socks are so adorable too. 😍 A basket full of fruity socks would be so much fun to knit up! Yes- thank you so much for the rose city roller suggestion!! 🥰 🍓
Hello from Tennessee! I just found out about you from Fernanda of Little Monkeys and Me. Came straight over here and found your delightful self so now you have 1 more subscriber! And yes...frog that spiral blanket. That's why knitting is so great. We can enjoy our yarn over and over until we LOVE what we've made.
I’m knitting the hitofude cardigan in a pink cotton fingering weight yarn. It is all lace, so slow knitting, but so exciting too. I love trying it on and watching it grow❤️. Love your socks!!
Wow, I just looked at the pattern and can only imagine what a beautiful summer project that is to knit on (and eventually wear)!! Those projects are ones which are so joyful from beginning on ❤️❤️❤️
As always, you are a joy to watch Gabriella 💕 Your socks are coming along so beautifully, the colourway is so pretty! Thank you for the podcast recommendations, I love Fernanda too and look forward to checking out the others you have mentioned! My question for the Q&A is how did you and your husband meet?
Thank you for such a kind mention💗 it made my heart so happy☺️ btw that round blanket is pretty amazing but if your mojo is gone I say just 🐸 it and reuse the yarn in your patchwork blanket! As for my question for your Q&A, I’m a sucker for a good love story and would love to hear the story of how you met your husband.
It is such a pleasure! You're truly one of the most creatively inspiring people I follow ☺️💗 Yes- I have to take the plunge and frog. You are so right!! Thank you so much for the Q 🤗💓
Always love catching up on your videos 😊 1x1 is my fave too, it just looks so neat to me! I used 2x2 for my husband socks and it works well because naturally the circumference is larger, so the wider ribbing looks nice. But I feel as if the 1x1 is more dainty so I prefer it for my socks 🥰 I would definitely frog and use the yarn! No point working on something you don't/won't enjoy 😊 I love your patchwork blanket and can't wait to see it grow!
Thank you so much Makayla! 🥰 I had never thought of it that way, but I think 2x2 looks much better on my husband's socks as well for that exact reason. Tank you for the encouragement to frog- I don't know why I have the mental block but I just need to do it. 😄 Wishing you a wonderful start to your week with very happy knitting! 💕🌷
hi hi! I echo a lot of the comments in saying frog the spiral blanket and reuse the yarn for your scrappy blanket! and I totally agree about your Strawberry Shortcake sentiment, the 90s/00s version is the best! between SS and Care Bears, I had plenty of stuffed animals growing up 😂 Love the podcast recs, will definitely check them all out 💚 I'm so happy to hear you'll be able to make it back to the states this summer! If you're ever near NJ, call me 😄
Good morning, Gabriella! I knit toe-up, and it’s easier for me to sew off if I use the 1x1 ribbing. Go ahead and FROG if that’s what you’re leaning toward. 😊❤️🧶 As for my WIPS, the Humble Bi shawl by Fibre Tales is currently on my needles. I’m enjoying using hand-dyed yarn from Paper Crane Yarns in the Honeycomb colorway.
Oh that WIP 😍 The Humble Bi shawl is just so lovely, and using hand-dyed yarn makes the process so special. You always have such lovely knits, Christy. 💓 I really want to try toe-up socks, I just need to take the plunge! ☺️ Thank you so much for your question! 💗
I would frog the spiral piece, I just went thru the same thing and decided to frog. I found it " freeing" somehow. Had been worrying over it. Now I'm trying to knit socks. Its going slow. Trying 9 inch circulars and 2 circulars. Not sure which I will eventually settle on. Love the video. Thank you
Thank you so much Sherry! 🥰 I can definitely imagine that. I think I am going to end up doing it too. I am so intrigued by two circulars, I seems like a really fun way to knit socks. I hope you'll share what method you end up settling on! I hope you have a wonderful start to your week, and very happy knitting 💕🌸
It doesn’t sound like you are enjoying the spiral blanket, so I would frog it and use those yarn memories in something you want to knit …. Maybe sock heels and toes, another blanket, etc.
The Regia yarn has nylon for elasticity and durability! Actually most sock yarns have that, even the wool ones. It'd be awesome if it was recycled but it does make socks just that much durable. And about the second pair, maybe it's because you have a denser fabric with the 2.25 mm needles? And I'd say you can get a white ball of this yarn! They have one in the same cotton line and that'd be perfect for a contrasting heel and maybe toes as well! schachenmayr.com/en/yarns/regia-cotton
Yes you're so right- and really, the portion of non-natural material is so low that it really isn't a big deal. Definitely worth it for long wearing socks! I hadn't thought of that but you are right. I imagine knitting a pair with a larger pair of needles/lower stitch count might make make another pair work. I have to admit, your idea of contrasting heel toe is brilliant 😍I think white yarn is gorgeous. Thank you so much! 💗
I think you should frog the spiral blanket - it sounds like you love the Cosiest Memories blanket much more, so it makes sense to re-use the yarn for this project. I have some questions for the Q&A: what was the most difficult thing for you to get used to when you moved to live in Germany? And what's the one thing you miss the most about USA? (apart from family and friends, obviously!)
@@MerryweatherKnitting it's not easy, though! I myself am guilty of holding on to UFOs thinking that I might finish them one day. But it never happens and I need to learn to let go and just use the yarn for something I will love more.
Yes! That is exactly what I need to do. It is so good to stay on track and avoid casting on too many projects. It makes the casting on (once finished with a couple of things) that much sweeter! 🥰💗
I've been working with Regia Tutti Frutti too recently in the Watermelon colorway :) and my questions for your next podcast is How did you meet your husband? I love a good love story ☺️
I would frog spiral blanket and reuse the good pieces of yarn. I don't think you'd be happy with a blanket full of mended holes. You will enjoy it more in a new project.
I would love to hear about your current inspiration! What are you knitting on right now? 💞
