    I just love your podcasts - you always make me laugh and smile. I love seeing all your projects but more than that it seems like your sitting with a friend chatting. You are so funny talking about your obligatory knits (I'm the same way - don't like commitments for what's supposed to be your joy. If you TELL ME TO DO IT, I automatically don't want to-what am I 6 🤣- no 61!!) Just everything about your podcasts make me smile (fan-girling here), from your advice, books, life and your humor and genuine personality. Anyway thanks for making me smile!

      Aw, Stephanie!!! You made my whole day. This truly meant the world to me, as what keeps me coming back is the genuine feeling of connection that we have. I’m so glad to know that its happening. Sending you oodles of love and yarn 💗🧶💜

    If I were you looking for a piece of yarn to finish my project I would go on Ravelry and check who has used it and contact them to see if I could buy their leftover balls of yarn from them. Cheaper and someone is going to be able to have no leftovers. Everyone wins :)

    • @AnotherKnittingPod

      I did look after you recommended this, which is a fantastic idea. The only problem is everyone who has it, has labeled it “not for sale”. Sigh :(

    • @makalali
      @makalali 3 місяці тому +1

      @ I just checked my Stach in Ravelry and all my yarn is labeled not for sale as a normal mode which means that you really have a chance if you ask around that people would be interested. They just have not thought (like me) to change its label to “will trade or sell”

    🙋🏻‍♀️ I am the same person when it comes to a obligatory knitting! Even when it’s my idea (and even a surprise), I notice if I’m making something for somebody else with a timeframe on it, I immediately enjoy it less and have a feeling of knitters remorse. The only thing that makes me feel better when I give it to them!

    I think we are all wired to have our knitting in our first layer of our psyche. That sounds weird but I dont know how else to put that into words, but felt that so hard when you said you were sipping coffee at breakfast with your kids and got a burst of inspiration. So often I'll be working or having a conversation and in the midst of a million other things going on and BAM! I get a thought. A knitting thought. A color combination. All of a sudden I want to knit a pattern I've never been drawn to previously but I see a color and just KNOW that it goes and I have to cast it on as soon as possible. I get you sister! hahahahaha! And that Jewelweed is going to be amazing with your skin and hair and eye colors! Im Scotch/Irish colored (LOL!) so fair skin and hazel eyes and I love wearing this color! I cant wait to see your Ranunculus. Surely you will whip that up in no time because .... it is DESIRED! that is the whole point of us knitting, right? I love how your baby girl see's the magic in your knitting too! OK, back to the video

      Hello my friend! I’m happy to get a note from you I haven’t heard from you in a while!
      Knitting is 100% the first layer of my psyche. That is exactly what I was saying about the knitting bag that I use in my everyday life…I just want everything to be knitting adjacent!!
      All weekend I obsessively worked on the Ranunculus. I can’t put it down!!
      Be well! Happy knitting!

      @ I’m always here and watching from the shadows 😂 I love your chats and get much inspo from you! I don’t think I’ve previously shared this with you and I’ve been a subbie since your very first episode release! Anyway, your etagere that sits behind you in your filming room is identical to the one we had in my childhood home and it contained my Dads reel-to-reel and record decks. Identical! It’s so endearing to see because I used to sit in the dark in our living room with my Dads huge Sony headphones on and sing to my 70’s and 80’s records and tapes. My fave memory is still belting out the soundtrack to Cats. So just know I always feel a little extra warm and fuzzy when I’m watching 🩷 my parent both recently passed away so these things kinda stick with us, right? XOXO, Dianne

    Your Ranunculus is beautiful and the new color is amazing! I have knit four and just bought yarn for a fifth. You will probably need another skein. With two fingering skeins, I have had to go for 3/4 and bracelet length sleeves. Love the pattern and love your videos. ❤

    • @AnotherKnittingPod
      @AnotherKnittingPod  3 місяці тому +1

      You convinced me to get another skein. I was reluctant, as leftover yarn from projects makes our stashes keep growing! But I will be so bummed if I can’t make the length what I want it to be. I figure if I have leftovers I can make a cute hat.

    I’m about to cast on an *emergency* Ranunculus! All of a sudden I needed a black one. Also I just finished a sweater for my husband out of Cascade 220 nonsuperwash. I loved knitting with it too. My new favorite workhorse yarn.
    AND I agree with a previous commenter: when I needed a tiny amount of Ritual Dyes Undine, I looked at recently finished projects on Ravelry, then messaged a couple of knitters to inquire about leftovers. Some lovely person sent me hers and it saved me from buying another whole skein.

    A pretty blue would make a lovely "hem" at the bottom of the baby sweater.

    • @AnotherKnittingPod
      @AnotherKnittingPod  3 місяці тому +1

      The problem is that the back hem is the cast on edge, so I don’t think I can easily make the front and back match…but maybe that wouldn’t be so bad. I haven’t landed on a solution yet!

    Love everything about your podcast Leena, love the book recommendations too. I'm addicted to the Ranunculus I've made about 9 so far. Cap sleeve, short sleeve, long sleeve, cotton silk, Noro, alpaca, variegated, plain, love them all. It's not cold enough in Australia for really heavy knits I find a ranunculus the perfect knit for our winter. I also don't crop them and I use 5.5mm rather than 6mm. I'm going to experiment with my next one and knit some of the textured stitches in a different yarn, variegated on plain, or a pretty mohair, I think it will make the flower stitches really pop.

    • @AnotherKnittingPod

      Hi Lyn! WOW on the 9 Ranunculus (dont’ know how to make that plural!)

    I agree with the previous comment: I have found yarn on Ravelry when I couldn’t find it anywhere else. Good luck in your search! Also, you may already know this, but garter stitch uses more yarn than stockinette. Maybe you could rip out both sides to be even. But I hope you can find the yarn on Ravelry. I found your channel and love it! Thank you for your insight and tales.

    😅I love your podcast today. I seem to be on the same page as you in a lot of ways. For the baby jacket I would tink back to the left shoulder and then grab a color a little different and then do alternating stripes. It will look intentional (she said!). I just came back from Edinburgh and Scotland and Vancouver. I did buy yarn, but not a lot. I am doing the Erin Sweater in The Fibre Co. Cumbria in a dark wine color. Just finished the 2nd season of Pachinko (I had read the book). The series is really good. I found it very emotional. Just started season 2 of The Diplomat. Smart. Fast. Books have not been my friends lately. Hit about 3 duds in a row. Improbable ridiculous plots. Straight to the goodwill with a post it saying “read at your own risk”. I would buy another skein of the red. If you run out, you are going to lose it. Better to fork out the 30 or 40 bucks and not sweat it.

    • @AnotherKnittingPod
      @AnotherKnittingPod  3 місяці тому

      You convinced me to buy an extra ball of the red. You are right, I would be heartbroken if I ran out of yarn! Especially because they don’t restock often.
      I think I will do what you said and alternate strips on the front panel. I’ll have to do it on the other side too, which is a huge bummer because I loathe ripping back!
      So I loved Pachinko…it was one of my favorite books. But I just couldn’t get into the show. I literally couldn’t get past the credits because it wasn’t how I pictured the characters in my head!!! Do you think I should give it another shot?

    • @cydneycolvig656
      @cydneycolvig656 3 місяці тому

      @ So now I am on the other side of the fence. I bought 6 skeins of yarn for the size 4 of the Erin sweater., which is slightly less yardage than they call for. I did 2 extra motif repeats on the body, and am now split for the arms and I am part way through the 3rd skein. Sweater fits as advertised. What the heck? For sure I will have 2 skeins left over. Hmmm. Give Pachinko another shot. I was on the fence at the beginning too. But I actually found it so emotional as I got into it. To be fair, I am super emotional about everything these days. Everything is looming. When you have kids ( even though mine are grown) it’s a lot. Thank god for knitting, reading and all the crafty goodness- it insulates in more ways than one. Good luck with the sweater! 2 of my co-workers had babies. I am making the Snow Dress and the Holger baby set. I am meeting them in Bruges Belgium at the beginning of December, so have to be done by then. Haven’t figured out the colors yet ( I will dye them). I buy a wool/tencel blend from Knomad and then just dye what I need. Let’s hope for no crazy drama tomorrow!

    I enjoyed Young Sheldon, also. Did you watch Big Bang Theory? I think they had to end Young Sheldon as they did, because the sad part was part of Sheldon's history in BBT. Fun fact...the actress who played Sheldon's mom in BBT is the mother of Sheldon's mom in YS.
    I was so inspired by your cabled cardigan that my new cast-on is a Thea Colman cabled sweater...I've been wanting to knit one of her sweaters ❤.

    I knit the baby cardigan nearly a year ago, loved it, such a great pattern but I've never sewn it up so it just sits 🤦‍♀️

    Random question regarding the baby sweater … do you have the swatch from your husband’s sweater? I keep mine in a random bin. I’ve ripped them out when playing yarn chicken

    • @AnotherKnittingPod
      @AnotherKnittingPod  3 місяці тому

      Such a brilliant idea, and I looked everywhere just in case I had a swatch. But, with most of my swatches I rip them out as soon as I measure and use it in the sweater. Which is what I did. Such a bummer.
