    Here's how I built a mini James bond 007 spy scuba mask. This device allows the user to breath under water for around 5 minutes on a full tank. The device also features a snorkel that lets the user breath on the surface but automatically shuts during dives, letting the air tank take over. Let me know what you want me to build next!

    No one do this! Main issue being serious lung overexpansion injuries DCI or possible full rupture of your lungs. You can also get an embolism along with other life threatening situations by diving this way. Another issue is you have to fill tank with proper gas ratio of oxygen and nitrogen (atmospheric air, filtered from compressor) especially while breathing under pressure, that air you're breathing could be toxic and contaminated with other gases or bacterial particles.. also not being able to clear your ears/equalize could lead to substantial damage and long-term sinus issues. Not trying to burst your bubble this would be a cool little idea for the pool or something but you gotta practice safe diving or you'll get someone hurt.

    • @justinsmith1798
      @justinsmith1798 4 роки тому +71

      Aside from the proper ratios, does that only apply to deep water diving?

      T G your lungs won’t over expand if you keep on breathing and don’t hold you breath yes you can get sick from bacterial particles so you should fill it at a local dive shop and you can equalize with a mask

    • @TG-ll8db
      @TG-ll8db 4 роки тому +38

      Fallout Krafts you're right in the sense that if you keep breathing/exhale normally while ascending you can prevent an overexpansion injury. "Technically" you could descend up to 33ft(every 33ft is the next level of atmospheric pressure) that being said any gas under pressure can still become toxic and if anything goes wrong with your gear how many of these people are gonna know how to CESA? Just lookin out, I teach scuba and diving is fun but things can go really wrong really fast if you have no training.

  • @MegaReception1
    @MegaReception1 4 роки тому +10

    well it's a great concept for fast spot dives in open waters. Like for checking a prop , water intake on a boat or if you drop something in shallow water. A scuba mask maybe you could have interchangeable extra air tanks its portable enough to put in your back pack. Don't let the people knock you down it's a great idea and definitely has it's uses. I've been diving for 40 years and used spare air and similar mini scuba back up systems. The important thing is that the user should know how to use the mask and it's limitations. Again good idea.

      @@NeillRobinson gas toxic (air need to be properly filtered), limited air supply(how long does it last? Even you can go to 60feet and come back immediately, you need to have a safe stop for minutes, and most divers go underwater for more than half hour), no reading for accurate of remain air supply. And..... how do you control your BCD with that. Luckily this didn't kill someone. You should know all divers would always test their air supply quality even it was properly filtered in a dive shop. Just take a scuba diver course as it's entry level.

  • @andreipop9587
    @andreipop9587 3 роки тому +1

    I honestly think you should streamline this invention a little and turn it into an actually sellable product. I think it would be a great tool for people who want to do deep dives for a few minutes in the water as tourists and for most rescue missions you only do need 2-5 minutes of extra oxygen to keep you going. Also think of how awesome it would be to have a water rescue come in and place a mask like this on the victim's face so they can help them breathe easily. It makes it super easy to carry in a bag and just give to the victim.
    To make it into an actually marketable product, you would need:
    a) to improve the air pumping mechanism.
    b) perhaps also invent easily switchable oxygen containers and make this your resellable product;
    c) improve the aspect of the oxygen tank bindings to the mask to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
    Do these 3 things and you have a golden egg.

    To all the people who are saying this should be a product and that they would buy it.
    I am a diver and there are reasons for the tank being the size that it is and all the equipment being the way it is. As much as this is a cool video and done in a controlled situation you can experiment with things like this, it is not safe or practically deployable in real world diving scenarios, nor should any diving equipment be used by anyone without appropriate training and procedure. Don't buy mini tanks and try to dive with them as a primary air source, there are serious consequences to consider like air embolism if you run out of air and don't have experience, it is not the same as breath holding. If you want to try diving, get certified and buy propper equipment.

    TLDR: I love the concept and it could be a great niche item with small improvements! However, using an electronic or even manual aircompressor can be FATAL when using it as breathable air!
    Full story:
    Super cool concept, just a heads up. Scuba shops use specialized equipment to make sure the air is clean and in correct ratios.
    In dive school our instructor showed us some horror stories involving oxygen toxicity from people filling their own gas. You can introduce imbalanced gas ratios (oxygen toxicity, CO/CO2 poisoning, ect) or even toxins that aren't unsafe in normal open air conditions but as soon as we get into a pressurized system where levels can concentrate and no new clean air is circulating it can be dangerous. So best to let the pros fill your tank and keep you safe. Also dive training is super fun and not all that expensive if you want a basic certification, I learned a lot and had fun doing shallow and deep dives.
    Maybe make a clip in system with a QD attachment on tanks where you can keep extra tanks on hand and just pop em in to keep the fun going longer. I think it'd be very practical, let you enjoy the toy longer, and keep you safe!

    My first thought is you're gonna get mask squeeze if you go to any depth with that thing. But of course you won't have more than a couple of breaths if you go to any depth with that thing either. I also wouldn't trust that pump for breathing gas, if you're gonna play with this get a normal 12L tank, have a dive shop fill it and fill the little tank from that. Pumps designed for breathing gas use special lubricants I believe.
    I don't want to come across as negative, mind, this is a neat project, looks like a lot of fun.
    EDIT: Also, a spy using this would give themselves away with their bubbles. If you really want to freak the safety nellies out, build a rebreather ;)

    Description: 'This device allows the user to breath under water for around 5 minutes on a full tank'.
    In-Video: 'Maybe a couple of minutes'.
    Reality: Maybe 30 seconds, and that's after 15 minutes of solid pumping. There's a reason divers call these emergency tanks '3 breaths till death'.

    • @joshmandeville3835

    • @wowfreaker
      @wowfreaker 4 роки тому +3

      Well yes, but actually no.
      At surface this holds the same amount of air than at 30 meters.
      However at 30 meters you will suck in the air in the bottle 4 times faster than at surface. So yes its 3 breathes till death. At a certain depth.

    Bruh,
    1. it's not an oxygen tank!
    2. How the f do you think you can compress your workshop air without filtering? This is so freaking dangerous! Scuba compressors have filters that have to be changed every 30 tanks or so...
    3.if you or some kid thinks "ahhhh I'm low on air, let's hold my breath and surface" you /they can easily rupture their lung!
    This is seriously dangerous!!
    Now all the kids want to have this but this is SERIOUSLY dangerous...
    Doesn't matter if you use this homebuilt mask or the tank...
    Get in contact with a scuba diver/scuba school if you are interested in diving. Ordinary scuba diving is soo much cooler and safer!
    Please guys do me a favor and don't use such contraptions!
    Thanks, have a great week!

    Here’s an idea…take a larger emergency air tank that would fit on your back and connect to the same cool looking mask. Keep the snorkeling tube for surface swimming. With a small tank you can maybe get about 10 or 15 minutes of actual diving. Will still look pretty cool. And please get an electric compressor. Then your time refilling the air will be short and you don’t need to exert yourself. Using a hand pump is just ridiculous….
