Many thanks, I have been researching "what happens if your cpap pressure is too high?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Panvaryor Unexpected Preference - (do a google search ) ? It is a great one off guide for discovering how to eradicating sleep apnea and snoring minus the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my m8 got excellent success with it.
You prolly dont care but if you are bored like me atm then you can watch pretty much all of the latest movies and series on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my brother recently :)
What a great video. I've had my full face mask for a while and I've snorkeled many times in Maui where the water is pretty rough at times. The great thing about these masks is they don't fog. So it was good to know that if they do it may be a sign of trouble. Good to know.
Used a normal mask with snorkel for years and just purchased a full face design Thanks for the heads up on safety and advice with your instructional video
I bought this snorkel mask about a month ago and love it!!! I'm snorkeling quite frequently with friends and amazed how easy it is. Just need to ensure that the mask is "snug" against your face as suggested. I like to clean the mask before and also dry off the water so you can have the best experience viewing in the water. I'm actually quite hesitant to go under water with it, as you mentioned, it should be more for just on the surface, which I agree. Most places to viewing marine life does occur deeper than 5 feet. Yet, good to know that I can still breath with the mask under water. Its also a best practice to always wash your masks to prevent the salt water from damaging or eroding it. I use soap, water and a sponge to clean it after each use. With the enjoyment of exploring the underwater life, just be aware where you are in relation to the shore as I have a number of times explored further out than expected. Stay safe and enjoy the experience.
Watching this because I just watched a 38 year old man drown in Maui while snorkeling. He was in the water alone and his family was on the beach. They were unable to revive him after CPR for 45 min. I realized that I know nothing about "snorkel safety" and did not know that was even a thing to take so seriously until now. He was using a traditional 2 piece snorkel but I have this full face mask.
super educational. everything are spot on. safety should always be a priority and everytime go out or do something new. always ask yourself "WHAT AM I WILLING TO RISK".
Just bought a full face Snorkel... and this video explains its use well. Thanks buddy. You should include... TIMING... how long you should comfortably and safely stay under water. TRAINING... how to test your training, when you are trained well. SNORKEL... how to take care of it so it lasts long and keeps good. BUDDY TRAINING... how should your guardian angel guard you and when and how he/she should do his/her lifesaving act.
Usefull video. Thank you. I just recieved and tried the Rocontrip full face mask in the pool and it works just fine. I heading down to the Dominican for 3-4 weeks and I am really looking forward to trying it out there but I am also bringing my regular mask and snorkle to go deeper as I find the full face mask creates too much pressure as you said. It is ideal for surface snorkling and maybe go down to 3-5 feet at the most for short periods. Thanks again and good diving!
Thank you soo much, I got one of these and I tested it out but then I saw the fog and I realized that I was rebreathing the air. After watching this video i knew what the problem was and fixed it
Was the check valve for the snorkel inlet not working to seal air from going back up when exhaling? Are some designs less reliable and prone to this happening? Are they all basically silicone flapper valves of varying thicknesses? What type of valves should one look for to avoid this type of issue?
thanks for all the tips, learned a lot! One thing you forgot to mention: You can activly push out the water by breathing out strong. This should force the water trough the mouth valve just like on the scupa octopus
Thank You very much for this helpful video. Preparing for a snorkeling trip down in the FL Keys in August & i had seen many bad reviews about these mask after purchasing one
Yeah, I would still recommend traditional snorkel. And always go with a buddy. But some people like the full face more. Stay safe, have fun! Thanks for watching
I really appreciate the video. Bought one of these because jaw issues and was worried I couldn’t find a mouth piece that would fit my tiny mouth. It came but it had no directions. So I’m going to be referring to your video. We are staying in a private home in Tahiti on the beach. So I’ll have the opportunity to try it in shallow water where I can touch the bottom before we go out to snorkel. If for any reason, I’m uncomfortable I’ll stop immediately. And yes I’ll have 3 buddies. I’m probably not going to go underwater.
Hi I am 11 and using the full face snorkel mask and tbh you need a high lounge capacity cause it is hard to breath just need to take SUPER deep breaths for it to work!
yeah just be careful, if you are over breathing (hyper ventilating) and diving down that could lead to a blackout. I would recommend using a traditional mask and snorkel for you. Get good with it and you can be a free diver too! Thanks for watching and commenting
@@JoeOceanside hey it is me on a different account and yes I know how to use a traditional mask and snorkel i love freediving I am just using the full face mask cause of holidays and no I got used to breathing deep and it feels ALOT more comferting also any good places for surface snorkling thank for replying
Awesome video thank you. Just can't use a conventional snorkel, so hopefully this will work. Going swimming with dolphins in three weeks, clearance after lasik surgery in two, so a week to practice in the pool.
Thank you for letting us know how to use a snorkel, I’m wanting to get into snorkelling because for reason I get this rush of energy when I snorkel, almost feels like I overcame something. I’m terrified of the ocean though so I’m hoping that snorkelling can help me overcome that fear. Yea, it's good for your pool. And you can breathe in and out through your mouth or nose. However if your nose does not fit perfectly it may restrict breathing through your nose, all depends on how well it fits on your face. Hope you enjoy! Thanks for watching
Hey Joe, thanks a lot for these great instructions on using the full-face mask, especially the safety tips. I just got my first one and before using it I decided to get some info on how to use it and happy that I found your channel. Quick question: if you dive with a full-face mask, can you breathe one or two times while down in the water?
I’m a very good swimmer and swim 10 laps at my gym pool but snorkeling in the ocean is a completely different game. It’s like learning how to drive a stick shift. I say take your time and play around in a shallow beach.
Nice video! I used a full face mask for the first time yesterday in my pool and found it harder to go deep into the water. All of that air in the larger mask makes it harder to go down. Otherwise, it's pretty good.
The downside of these over a traditional snorkel is that diving down with them is a no go, they cause a lot of pressure which is a lot of pain, the standard snorkel set doesn’t do this. I’m a diving instructor and diving down for me is second nature so it’s a traditional mask for me.
Recently bought on discount full face mask and after watching this video I’m now worried since you’ve warned about fatal potential of this mask and I haven’t even tried it yet. Hope it will function properly...
nice video, i bought myself a full snorkel mask for my dad and me because we are going snorkelling in the mediterranean sea off cyprus next month, we have no experience with it. greetings Bram
What I do is I wear the mask for a few minutes and the I lift it up to get some fresh air for a couple minutes. And do everything I can to avoid CO2 build up. Today was my first day out at the beach using it. Haven't felt any dizziness or fatigue or disoriented but if I do I'm taking the mask off and getting out of the water. I never go deep in the water and I'm very skeptical going in the ocean at the beach when there is strong waves. I got caught in a wave at Navarre beach in Florida one time and water got in my nose and mouth and it was one of the most unpleasant feelings. I was fifteen when that happened. I'm not near Florida but the waves are not bad except when high tide hits and today it was high tide
That is a great video. I am open water water certified and will be using FFM for the first time in the shark cage dive at the GA Aquarium. You really gave me great info and have prepared me for the dive. Thanks Joe!
I have a full face mask but i find it distorts depth perception. You think your in 3ft of water and go to stand and are in 6ft of water lol. Besides that they are cool.
When you inhale you should feel the air flowing down the front lens. When you exhale you should NOT feel the air blowing around the eyes. If you do it is a big problem and you should not use that mask. Thanks for watching
Hi! i have been looking at some of these masks online and many of them andvice not to dive deeper than 6ft with them. they say its because the part covering your eyes and your airways are completly seperated and therefore you cant equalize. wich will create a vacuum arround your eyes.
Hi Joe, I'm wondering if you can give me your thoughts. I bought this mask and took it to a pool to try out before I went on vacation as you suggested. I remember you talking about when you breathe in you should feel the air go across your eyes but not when you breathe out. I did experience the air across my eyes even when breathing out so not sure why. I tries 3 different masks on and different sizes and they were all the same. I also remember you talking about the dangers of carbon dioxide. After snorkeling for a bit I finished and went home. Once there I started feeling a rapid and irregular heartbeat which I ended up going to emergency for. Long story short I had to cancel my vacation last minute due to a change of medical condition that I wasn't covered for. My question to you is: Do you think I got carbon dioxide poisoning as this condition has never happened to me before? I'm not much for coincidences so I would really appreciate your thoughts.
Great information but there is one thing you didn't discuss or make clear. When you go underwater (submerge yourself ) how long can or should you stay underwater before you must or should return to the surface for fresh air? Abviously this isn't a scuba setup with a fresh air tank, so you can't just stay underwater for as long as you want. Right? So is that is the case how do you know when you need to or should come up? When it becomes difficult to breath or feel like yuo're not getting any air? Please clarify.
These masks concern me for a few reasons, but I'm curious, is there a way to blast clear the snorkel or no? 😮 Do you just have to remove the mask to get the water out? Or does the ball design you mention keep water from coming in so you don't need to clear it? Thanks for going above and beyond and explaining dive/snorkel safety along with how to use the masks! As a diver who has gone through many, _many_ poor dive buddies before finding a handful of good ones, I was SO happy to hear that was the very first thing you said before starting. Then, followed by above and beyond information and tutorials. I appreciate what you're doing. Thanks for helping to keep people smart and safe! Cheers!
Wow thanks! Yes the ball stopper normally keeps out the water. But if water does get in the water will drop to the lowest point by your chin and will drain out the one way drain valve so there is no need to blast clear. If you do blow out it will help push the water out the drain a little faster. Thanks for watching
Hey, great video very useful thanks, what is the best mask or make of mask to buy please ... also what the hair cover you are using in last part of the video please sir 👍
Probably the Ocean reef aria Ocean reef aria full face snorkel mask amzn.to/3eG54os I use a Tilos spearfishing rashguard with a hood. Thanks for watching
Sounds like the ball float that stops the water is not working, or the mask does not fit you well. Try another mask cause this one is dangerous. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, but I'd like to know a little more about the fit. Does it rest on the front of the chin or go under the chin? Is it necessary to shave my goatee? Can you recommend any good brands? Thanks again.
I got one for $35 off amazon and it has good reviews. Is it more dangerous than the more expensive ones? I mean I think $35 is expensive for one. Please reply because I don’t wanna die over a mask!! Thanks!! 🙏 the death rate is kind of eerie though 😦
Thanks for the video! In case there is CO2 buildup in my mask, would it be enough to remove the mask from my head to release the trapped CO2? Or rinse it with water? Not sure how deeply it gets trapped in the spaces of the mask.
The traditional snorkel makes me gag so easily. I wanted to bypass anything that goes in my mouth so I could enjoy snorkeling. Is a full face mask a good alternative?
An appalling piece of equipment, so much can go so wrong imo.Very thorough explanation, this should be seen by anyone who contemplates using such a thing.

Do you think I got carbon dioxide poisoning as this condition has never happened to me before?
I'm not much for coincidences so I would really appreciate your thoughts.
I love full face snorkel but i love scuba gear more
Yeah same here, thanks for watching
Great job..thank you so much.
Probably the Ocean reef aria Ocean reef aria full face snorkel mask amzn.to/3eG54os
I use a Tilos spearfishing rashguard with a hood. Thanks for watching
Nice video.
I miss Oceanside.
Hey great video but you mentioned that it’s not great for free diving
How deep till you feel unmanageable pressure you think ?
Thanks
hello my full snorkel mask when i go to the water it will go inside the mouth valve and i cant breath properly the water will go inside the mask
My full mask is fogging and i dont now what to do and ia brand new pls respond
I got one for $35 off amazon and it has good reviews. Is it more dangerous than the more expensive ones? I mean I think $35 is expensive for one. Please reply because I don’t wanna die over a mask!! Thanks!! 🙏 the death rate is kind of eerie though 😦
$35 is pretty cheap, just follow the safety precautions I discussed in the vid, go with a buddy and stop using it if you are not comfortable
Awesome video, I have a question it gets foggy but just in the mouth area thats a problem?
If it is only in the mouth chamber then that is normal. Fogging around the eyes indicates a problem
An appalling piece of equipment, so much can go so wrong imo.Very thorough explanation, this should be seen by anyone who contemplates using such a thing.
If you can use a traditional you definitely should. I always encourage people learn a traditional. Thanks for watching!
@@JoeOceanside You're very welcome, enjoyable and informative videos. Prospective snorkelers should view your vids time and again. Stay safe.
I like to swim laps for exercise. are these masks good for such activity??? thanks.
