Since Spidey says that his spider silk is biodegradable, I would think it is organic, which would lead me to believe it is made out of proteins and aminoacids, mainly Fibroin, Alanine, Glycine and Serine, just like the silk from both Spiders and Silkworms, possibly also starch and other thickening agents. Under pressure, the liquids would be able to shoot for a HUGE distance, but as they are mixed they would already start to become a strand and when they come out from the nozzle and come in contact with the air, they would expand, thicken and become a rope like material, making for a even small amount of liquid mix would already have a considerable volume of rope that is both adhesive and can resist quite a bit of weight.

Jesus you truly are inspiring, I’m glad UA-cam community have someone like you “sticking around” plus talking in a cool way about science stuff, love it!!! Let’s go!!
Its awesome that he went for like every passing idea of how they could work and tried them all despite how impractical for science and fun. Like making all the elements a web-shooter should have but cant have (yet) together, an ultimate guide for early 2023 web-shooter tech
The strongest spider web belongs to the Darwin spark spider, and the spider weighs roughly .5 grams and can shoot its web roughly 80ft. If the proteins are isolated than it could possibly be recreated, and if it's scaled up to the weight of a person it could hold together well enough to swing from. All that would be needed is to create a webshooter that acts like the silk gland. I would love to see something like this irl
The problem is that the spider web being thin is a necessity for it to dry in time. Perhaps if you made something that shot out a ton of really tiny strands, it could work.
This is literally just like in the movies when spiderman is building and learning how to use his gadgets and abilities. You straight up the real life Peter Parker as well as Spider-Man dude!!
This is insanely impressive. I don’t think people even realize how difficult it is to create a web shooter that works this well. This is truly better than any I’ve ever seen.
I applaud your efforts! At just shy of 53 years old I’ve had a fantasy of being able to swing and fire webs like Spider-Man ever since I was a little fella (I suspect like a lot of kids of all ages).
It's also so cool how the device (or whatever) he was using actually supported his weight when he tried to stick to ceilings n' stuff. I love DC so much more than Marvel (DC is my favourite cinematic universe out of the 2). But you gotta admit, this is super cool.
This is so incredible! I never imagined that someone would engineer Spider man’s powers, but I’m glad that you and your team are pioneering this technology! You are doing what government engineers are doing with just a fraction of the money available. I am astonished that you and your team have made so many cool projects so far, and I really hope that you never stop. Go JLaser! (As a suggestion for another video, perhaps you could make something like the hook shot or claw shot from the legend of Zelda with this same concept!)
Just gotta say, I really appreciate your dedication to the web shooter projects. It’s so cool to see what awesome designs and functions you come up with. That net shooter was especially neat, keep up the good work!
@@shell2791 except those projects helped humanity. what does this help with? it's like "inventing" a human flying drone, why invent a drone when you can just use a helicopter? this web shooter has little practical uses with the exception of something like rock climbing except less reliable and more dangerous and if this was used in day 2 day life people would destroy their bodies quickly
Well done dude! Ever since seeing that Mythbusters episode I wondered if it could have been done better. I was thinking in terms of concrete walls but I'm amazed how well you've made it work with wood! Bet it's freaky to use though; it's basically a gun that shoots another gun haha
Yo Built IRL I'm trying to make my own version, but instead of bullets, it uses a co2 cartridge like a compressed air version have any ideas how I can pull it off. I know your not gonna answer back but just in case.
@@svendsfam6433 The issue is that a CO2 cartridge cannot generate enough force to thrust the nail into the surface. You could try the rat glue version with a net that's lined with it to get more surface area , but i'm not sure how effective that would be.
Next you need to do. Two shooter and your climb suit. Also, each shooter needs 2 shots so you have 4 shots in total allowing you to swing up to four times.
All right I've been working on something like this myself for like 2 years on and off. The nylon solution that you had is the closest way to do it properly. I'm not a chemist myself but I've mixed around trying to have it combined with a type of adhesive to mixed results it either comes out clumpy or the nylon bonds don't essentially form so it like tears apart really easily. I tried mixing in nylon threads like tiny nylon like shavings to see if that would help with like rigidity but that ended up like clogging up the nozzle. Then my best results was a trying a composition that worked best under heat or pressure then you had the nylon form really well and then it would kind of go through an adhesive coating as it's coming out but getting an adhesive to stick really quickly is an issue I came across as well. My next version I'm going to try and combine some nylon fibers in the solution and the nylon fibers will have like the glue or glue like substance. Probably should use like a two part epoxy I works pretty fast. Anyways that's my my trial and error on this if you want I could send over my designs and stuff it's pretty compact a little smaller than the version that you have for the magnetic string toy. The nozzle system I have set up for mine though is very important it uses a dual nozzle. There's one nozzle inside another nozzle on an actuator that moves closer and further from the opening of the outside nozzle and that allows for either like a string or spray kind of like a net. I've been able to get like a pretty good solid string probably about like a meter or so before it breaks her has some issue or jams up and then the netting I can get it to spread about like a meter in a bit wide. It also has a web ball function but that doesn't really work properly I haven't got the electronics working on that.
@@c.h.s1001 once it's done would love to send it out to UA-camrs to tear a part and review lol but mainly my nephew loves spider man and it's a toys I'm making for him. If more comes from it all the better
You know you can borrow one of those web pallets from Oscorp , they are really good. Also you can attach it in the dial of a 10$ watch and i guess it should work ? I wonder why you didn't think of that in the first place ?

this was amazing i only recently got invested in spiderman (with the original movies) and now im thinking... spidy senses like sensors that tell you if theres smth behind you in a helmet combines with the wall climbers and web shooter your practically spiderman at that point
Some ideas: You could have an unstuck device on the blaster that you send down the rope, either with a wheel climber or just rolling it down/pulling yourself forwards, with a small piston that screws into grooves along the hammer, pressing agains the surface and unsticking with a button press/piston push. Another idea would be making a moldable suction cup/plastic & fiber to stick to things instead, have it come out partially heated and then cool once it lands, then when you need it back send heat down a thin copper wire inside the mesh to make it malleable again.
Went straight to ordering myself one of those webshooters 😂 can't wait to mess around with it. Really love the idea future and past projects being available for purchase
Have you tried adding PEG and a cross linking agent like divinylbenze in your solution? Maybe polyvinyl alcohol and PMMA as well to increase tensile strength?
I have been following several engineering youtubers for years now hoping to find a spiderman webshooter that sticks and actually swings, thank you for making this video.
This is super impressive. You're hitting the technical intricacy/build quality of the Hacksmith but with the more understated/casual design breakdown of Colin Furze and it's amazing.
I think the closest thing you can do with this is the ODM gear from Attack on Titan. You can even get some inspiration there since they explain it technically.
True, but ODM gear runs off of a fictional, pressurized solid/gas material found on their island. So youd have to come up with a highy compressible gas/liquid that you can store and deploy. Thst won't run out quickly like co2 or oxygen.
the gear allows for pretty hefty fuel tanks, i don't think that would be a problem. I like the ODM idea since you can get away with overt mechanical attributes and explicitly allows harnesses to be built into the design. Actually, the way it's all set up already looks like the anti-personnel/final season 3dmg designs
@@deo1965 and even if they did make that they couldnt use it if its that powerful like in AOT because it would simply tear their bodies apart from all the G's they would pull
@@deo1965 there's a lot of freedom in what gas to choose, the problem would simply be price and safety. This guy is like the combination of both spider-man and Tony Stark, heck, he could at this point make up his own superhero with the gadgets he has made!
Amazing video, bro. Once you’ve figured out the science to make the web shooters more smaller and compact, and making them faster to repel, you’ll be the one and only real life Spider-Man
This is awesome. One big thing people don’t account for is that Spider-Man can bench press 10 tons as full strength adult level Spider-Man. So swinging around his body weight on his arms and joints is like child’s play and that’s also why he can launch himself through the air on human-sized stretchy web super far off of those huge momentum filled swings
This is true, even if we somehow managed to create the technology same as Spider-Man's webshooters we would need some sort of suit to wear with inertia dampeners which is just scifi and is able to put the stress off the human body.
It looks like a grappling gun more than a web shooter but your inventions are amazing. It will certainly be an inspiration to follow. Keep making things like this, We'll be there one day.
Exceeded expectations again. Ive been waiting my whole life for this. Ive spent many hours searching and watching people created webshooters. This has to be the closest one I have seen to the actual movies. Great work!
It blows my mind how like he wouldve never been able to just get down that high, that easy, without the webshooters. Worlds first real life superhero in the making.
One thing that could take, not only this, to the next level, but the wall climbers as well is the artificial gecko skin. It's really insane the stuff it can do. However, I'm not sure how cost effective that would be as it may be very hard and/or expensive to get your hands on. It really is crazy seeing the progress you're making with this project though. You really are the closest person we have in real life to spiderman. Also the Spidey helmet is nice touch. It's when you wanna look sick, but safety comes first😂
@@ZÏ̇̃ he wouldn't even need the vacuum pumps for his wall climbers with the gecko skin. However, it would definitely help him feel more secure. Maybe gecko skin gloves, and souls with the vacuum mounted on his wrist and shins for extra support when he needs it. Then if he replace the nail hammerer with a gecko skin cross in a little ball that pops open like those green firecracker balls to make sure they don't go off course mid fire. With some trial and error I'm sure he could make something like that work much more seamlessly.
@@swagmiredoesall his climbers also allow for roof climbing as of right now, which I don't think gecko skin alone would be able to handle, thus adding gecko skin inside of the vaccum areas seem like a good compromise to me
@@ZÏ̇̃ I think adding them to both the vacuum suction cups, and his hands and feet would help him get extra leverage. The gecko skin is practically made to grip using down force so having them on the hands especially the finger tips would help him kind of grab the surface he's climbing to get more leverage. With enough tweaking he could probably make the climbing more seamless than it currently is
I swear to god in the next few years, I think we are gonna see Spider-Man really swinging through New York. The amount of work that has gone into developing this runs pretty damn deep. I honestly think if you can condense the reaction, I think you can get more out of it. And maybe research compounds in a spiders web.
Super cool that something like this really works. I was doubting that there would be enough strength to be able to hang from it. I’ve been searching for someone who built the grappling hook from legend of Zelda. I really want to see someone take on the challenge. With this guys skill it would be super cool to see his approach on the build.
If you combine the catapult thing you made with the a strong string like material, you can create a web like mechanism that opens and releases glue instantly as its fire enough to stick, if you build something like how bullets are for it where it's a webbed look and allows for accuracy of the webst to hit, and instead of it being 1 string that attaches and detaches, the webs should have a mechanism that cuts the string, the super good that you made will ooze down each string that fired, a automatic loading system that loads the embed mechanism load onto the string as a motor pulls the string into it so when the string is cut, a new one is loaded onto the next line of string continuously like firing a gun, it should fire as hard as a paint ball gun a and there should be a air mechanism that heat blow dries the glue allowing for extremely fast.
Im very happy and exited, imagine if this guy made this whole thing in his garage, what could a company dedicated to this type of things be able to do, jlaservideo you are the evolution of humans, literally
This is so amazing! There is so much effort in every single prototype that is just crammed into a 10 second clip, I can't even imagine how long that must have taken!
Imagine if you had two! I could easily see you chaining these web shooters together and actually swing for long durations, couple that with improved climbers that have the suctions on the palm of your hand, and you could literally be spiderman.
Even if he had two, it's still only single-shot each, and that limitation isn't easily overcome (storing multiple cords/detaching the cord from the nail, winding it around another nail, spooling it ready for the next shot, etc...) Still SUPER impressive though.

Its awesome that he went for like every passing idea of how they could work and tried them all despite how impractical for science and fun. Like making all the elements a web-shooter should have but cant have (yet) together, an ultimate guide for early 2023 web-shooter tech
I love how he shows us the failed experiments as well for more experience and explaining

You've hit the point where you are hiding how you do stuff (the device the stabs into stuff lol) you are really innovating here I love it.
this was amazing i only recently got invested in spiderman (with the original movies) and now im thinking... spidy senses like sensors that tell you if theres smth behind you in a helmet combines with the wall climbers and web shooter your practically spiderman at that point
Some ideas:
You could have an unstuck device on the blaster that you send down the rope, either with a wheel climber or just rolling it down/pulling yourself forwards, with a small piston that screws into grooves along the hammer, pressing agains the surface and unsticking with a button press/piston push.
Another idea would be making a moldable suction cup/plastic & fiber to stick to things instead, have it come out partially heated and then cool once it lands, then when you need it back send heat down a thin copper wire inside the mesh to make it malleable again.
spider pugs
This also gives me ODM gear vibes from Attack on Titan, or the classic Burton Batman grappling hook. However you look at it, it’s insanely impressive

Everything just perfect, except, we need a reporter that keep calling spiderman a menace
Have you tried adding PEG and a cross linking agent like divinylbenze in your solution? Maybe polyvinyl alcohol and PMMA as well to increase tensile strength?
Interesting idea can I use this idea in the future if I ever get the chance to try to make this?
I have been following several engineering youtubers for years now hoping to find a spiderman webshooter that sticks and actually swings, thank you for making this video.
This is super impressive. You're hitting the technical intricacy/build quality of the Hacksmith but with the more understated/casual design breakdown of Colin Furze and it's amazing.
This is better than the hacksmith 100%
Bro i am a child and i love Spiderman and this blown my inner spiderman spirit😅🎉❤
I think the closest thing you can do with this is the ODM gear from Attack on Titan. You can even get some inspiration there since they explain it technically.
Ooooh yeah it is pretty similar
Something like liquid Nitrogen gas might work, because it's inert and cheap, but helium or other inert gasses might work aswell. This is awesome. One big thing people don’t account for is that Spider-Man can bench press 10 tons as full strength adult level Spider-Man. So swinging around his body weight on his arms and joints is like child’s play and that’s also why he can launch himself through the air on human-sized stretchy web super far off of those huge momentum filled swings
true, his strength makes cap look like a baby
and is the main reason why he pretty much catapults himself when he webslings to cut more distance

It's when you wanna look sick, but safety comes first😂
Gecko skin in combination with the current technology he uses for the wall climbers could work really well
@@ZÏ̇̃ he wouldn't even need the vacuum pumps for his wall climbers with the gecko skin.
With enough tweaking he could probably make the climbing more seamless than it currently is
@@swagmiredoesall yeah it's definietly something he probably should look into. Crazy how far he's already come though!
I swear to god in the next few years, I think we are gonna see Spider-Man really swinging through New York. The amount of work that has gone into developing this runs pretty damn deep. I honestly think if you can condense the reaction, I think you can get more out of it. And maybe research compounds in a spiders web.
2:15 *NileRed mode activated*
Damn it you beat me
Super cool that something like this really works.
That was sick bro!!! That’s literally the closest we’ve got to real life Spider-Man that I’ve seen, Climb, shoot stuck swing release
This is so amazing! There is so much effort in every single prototype that is just crammed into a 10 second clip, I can't even imagine how long that must have taken!
The spiderman in this universe
Imagine if you had two! I could easily see you chaining these web shooters together and actually swing for long durations, couple that with improved climbers that have the suctions on the palm of your hand, and you could literally be spiderman.
Don't forget something for increased strength and speed
Even if he had two, it's still only single-shot each, and that limitation isn't easily overcome (storing multiple cords/detaching the cord from the nail, winding it around another nail, spooling it ready for the next shot, etc...) Still SUPER impressive though.
It’s been great to see your Chanel grow over the past few years. We’re all so proud of how far you have come.
