Well when you use Sig as your basis, ya it'll look great. As a 226 owner, this Rex Zero is god damn amazing for what they're charging for it. Arex hit it out of the ballbark with it. Kudos to them.

I have it all black compact. Its an awesome gun and I highly recommend it just not for conceal carry. The slide is too slick its not just a nickel thing. Its pretty much impossible to sling shot it if your hands are sweaty. Super accurate great single action trigger. Double action is like pulling a bus with your teeth.
drop that zero and get with the rex zero reminds me of my p228 nickel that I had 20 plus years ago but better with more modern machinery coatings and quality steels
That is one of the nicest looking guns on the market today. I love nickel finish for the looks. Be a nice gun for the range when you just want something sharp and classy looking. Secure it in an equally good looking shoulder holster and when wearing a suit you'd feel like a million bucks.

That's what makes you different. Most Sig lovers hate the Arex because they made a better and cheaper 226. I like Sig but I fully accept the Arex is simply a better firearm.
Looks comparable to the P229 which I really love. This is my first time seeing one of these Rex pistols. The UA-cam Algorithm actually recommended something worth watching, lol. Looks like you can find these on Gunbroker for around $500 or so. Not bad. But... That's not a lot less than you can get an actual Sig for. My question is do you think it's worth the savings? Not only is a Sig.. well, a Sig but the parts support, both new and used, is huge. There isn't a lot for the Rex 1 even now. Which is my biggest trepidation when considering one. Otherwise what a sweet looking pistola. Also. Thanks for mentioning the Lula mag loader. I've seen them in other people's videos but not mentioned by name. Now I know what to search for.
These pistols may look like Sig knock off's but they're great guns, tested to the max, dependable and made from very high quality materials. I am on the fence about this and the 226 Legion, same basic functionality and appearance but at half the cost almost and I actually like how they incorporate the slide lock with the decocker, that's pretty effin cool and you get a safety if you want it, if you don't, just don't use it and keep it with one in the chamber and decocked. Man, it's going to be a tough decision on which way to go, this or the Sig. I have the P220 Legion and I love that so I'm leaning toward the Sig but man, this is such a great value.
Very nice firearm! Yes, it does have a lot in common with the SIG P226, but it reminds me MUCH more of the Zastava CZ99/EZ9. I also prefer a lower bore axis. I have 2 CZ 75 platform guns. but my crystal ball is clearing... YES, I think I see one in my future!
@Hewhoremains420 I got a Tristar "P200". an all steel CZ clone made by Canik. Unfortunately Tristar no longer imports them. I also have a Sar USA B6. It is a polymer clone of the CZ75, and a really great gun, at a really good price. Sarsilmaz got started producing that gun as a contractor for Tanfoglio, who sold it as the polymer "Witness". The bore axis on the Rex zero is pretty low, but I don't believe it is comparable to the CZ platform.
If you have any experience with the CZ p-01 I would love to hear what your opinion is on pros and cons between the two guns. Since they are roughly the same price, which would you choose?
My pistol is a 1936 FN 1910 32 acp. 😎 I found it while looking for some suitable rock for knapping some flint points for my Atlatl darts. It needed some new parts but shoots well. I did find some really nice agate for knapping too.
Really excellent review. This pistol should be a worthy competitor to the Sigs, but the controls are getting a little complicated. As an old man, I'll just stick with my canik55 manufactured c100 lightweight compact with a manual safety. I had a decocker fail on a random vis35 so no decockers for me-lol
Im a Brit with texes fam. When im over i shoot everything i can get my hands on. Just something about this pistol i shoot it better than anything else . I brought a pair and i can only use them on holiday 6 weeks of the year. If i move to America i will have both staped to me everywhere i go . wooow... everyone speaking about SIG 226/229 but no one about EZ9 bcs guess what, AREX made these based on license from Serbian NB INAT , company founded by cretor of CZ99 (Zastava-Arms) and EZ9 is just latest generation. So yes, ReX Zero1 is Slovenian made but it's Serbian "thing" , not SIG
Thanks for the review sootch on this great looking and shooting firearm as I will be ordering one this week just like the one in this review. I am a 1911 45 man so I like the cocked and locked feature on this Rex Zero 1 cp. And I will have 2 9mm in my house as I bought the Kimber micro stainless that you did a review on as well. Happy shooting and God bless the USA.
I have this firearm and must say that out of my inventory it is one of the must accurate firearms that I have at 25 yards the groupings is about 2” not bad for 68 year old eyes; younger ones could probably do better.
Do not buy!!! Please save your sanity and go with a real company such as Sig. worst firearm decision I’ve ever made. Pick and issue off the top of your head and I’ve had it with this piece of garbage.
Stupid arex lists the weight with no mag which is annoying. So it's basically plus 5 oz to whatever arex states as an estimate for the empty mag weight. And compact beretta mags are pretty hard to find.
Arex makes some nice pistols. I have the Rex Zero1 and Zero 2. The Zero 2 is a beautiful, great feeling and outstanding shooting pistol. The people at the gun store were drooling over it as I was doing the paperwork to do the FFL transfer. I'm sure the Zero 1 CP is of the same quality.
Have to check the local range and see if they have this for a test. Love that it it's double action with a dedicated decock mechanism. She is a beauty.
gregorysoule look on k var, if anyone has one itd be them. If its that much of an issue though then the gun can be carried in sa with the safety. I know people that do that with some guns.
Brian-eighteen 18 I think that K-Var does have some kind of a spring kit for this gun on their site, now. Also, a competition grade spring kit is available from Polenar Tactical.
High bore axis SUCKS!!!.. I will never own another P series Sig or anything like it.. they chug along and dont get back into battery like a low bore axis gun..
*I will never trust a self-loading pistol review **_AGAIN_** without a rubber hammer test **_IN THE REVIEW_** to be sure they pass so they will not go off when dropped.*
How's the gun holding up nowadays? I've been thinking of getting one while they're relatively cheap, but I read it's a steel slide on an aluminum frame, which I remember caused problems with wear and tear for Remington's R51.
This was the ONLY GUN to make it through all of Tim's MAC "torture testing". Beating out guns costing double or more...Beating out Glock the gun known for being "reliable". :) Arex Rex Zero 1 gives new meaning ....Now if only they would offer this gun with no manual safety....decocker ONLY. It's odd they didn't being that this is a SIG P22x series clone...but better. I htink it beat a Legion gun....And it costs the same as a Gen5 G19 with a MSRP of $600....how can any one go wrong.... Swap in rubber grips...change the safety to de-coker only...
I love this pistol... Especially in the nickel version.. Only wish they had a cut out on the nickel version for optics. Would look gorgeous with the wood grips.! What happend to the trucker stash!!?
I'll be taking a very close look at this pistol if they come out with a decocker only (no manual safety) model. I've been looking at a CZ P-01, but the Rex Zero 1 design is probably more reliable in more trying conditions than a CZ. The specs are better too (a little lighter, an extra round, etc.) But CZ is tough to beat in shootability and ergonomics, and I love the excellent .22LR Kadet adapter for CZs. At present, I've decided a manual safety is a dealbreaker for me for a carry gun, so for now I'm not considering a Rex.
i'm looking at these guns as well. Prefer not to have a manual safety, but it's not too hard to sweep your thumb down on a draw even if you always keep it off. I'd get both a P-01 and a Rex CP but can't justify spending so much money.
Carry with the hammer cocked and safety on. All shots are uniform and train yourself to automatically slide it down on draw. It's faster than screwing with pointless decockers. Obviously with modern striker designs a safety isn't needed.
That 22 adapter sounds cool. I just got a classic sp01. I don't get why people are so offended by the safety. I can decock it manually if I want double and pretend the safety isn't there, or of I want it cocked and locked I use the safety.
one of the best looking gun on the market in my opinion.
Well when you use Sig as your basis, ya it'll look great. As a 226 owner, this Rex Zero is god damn amazing for what they're charging for it. Arex hit it out of the ballbark with it. Kudos to them.

Way better than sig
It's actually far superior than a sig in both controls, accuracy, and reliability. It may even surpass the cz75 in grouping tests.

Have to check the local range and see if they have this for a test. Love that it it's double action with a dedicated decock mechanism. She is a beauty.
I have both the compact and tactical models on my to acquire list.
Wow! Beautiful
I love my sig killer
Don't give a crap about bore axis... I can shoot everything.
James Yeager has a NEW You Tube channel! Search for “James Yeager’s New You Tube Channel.”
This may be my next one. Im really thinking about it.
Both pistols are "Chunky" the Rex however has a very, "high testosterone" aural signature
That looks good
Beautiful
Look like me Zastava EZ9 with main difference is the safety.
hey got any idea why the fde has a price around 680 whereas the nikel one is around almost 800
What is with the Levis sweater? Levi is one of the longest running anti gun companies in the States.
Finally a lefty friendly gun that looks good.
Now I know what my SW Chefs Special 9mm would look like with a picatinny rail. My Smith and Wesson is well over 20 yrs still works fine.
Thats a beautiful tune you sound with them steel plates brother
That's the compact? Jeez that thing is huge lol
I asked around majority of the gun store in my area... and never heard of this gun.......
Be good if arex zero 2s comes in a compact and optics ready version.
Somthing not polymer and black. Very nice.
Wats the price on that same gun?
I miss the mustache
Sootch-A-mania may return! LoL! Thanks
13lbs, yikes! Does anyone make a spring kit for this yet?
gregorysoule look on k var, if anyone has one itd be them.
FIME group does not carry this gun anymore.
I've been thinking of getting one while they're relatively cheap, but I read it's a steel slide on an aluminum frame, which I remember caused problems with wear and tear for Remington's R51.
trump!!!
The Rex lookS YUUUGGE!
Sootch is awesome. Great videos.
$650? I'll go with a Sig....
Shoot the Rock Island Armory 1911 Baby Rock 380 acp.
I want this gun so bad but the da trigger is pulling me away
Is it actually nickel plated or just an anodized and cerekote like finish?
actual nickel
With this intro music, you need to do these reviews wearing your favorite concert/tour t-shirts! Like Whitesnake, Dokken, Tears For Fears......
I love this pistol... Especially in the nickel version.. Only wish they had a cut out on the nickel version for optics. Would look gorgeous with the wood grips.! What happend to the trucker stash!!?
Finally! Ty Scootch for reviewing the nickel finish and then comparing size CP with the S! I've been waiting so I can decide to order!
"Long Live the Republic"...
Great review as usual. You are always my go to.
Just held one the other day in my hand, it has one of the worst trigger pulls I ever felt. Don’t believe the hype on this sig imposter.
Yall could just never use the safety. Not that difficult
why go striker fired when you can carry one of these condition one?
Carry with the hammer cocked and safety on. All shots are uniform and train yourself to automatically slide it down on draw. It's faster than screwing with pointless decockers. Obviously with modern striker designs a safety isn't needed.
That 22 adapter sounds cool. I just got a classic sp01. I don't get why people are so offended by the safety. I can decock it manually if I want double and pretend the safety isn't there, or of I want it cocked and locked I use the safety.
