Mushy - spongy stock trigger is THE reason I want to get GPT. But then I hear that with time, the more you use it stock trigger becomes better, less mushy -spongy. Which makes sense. Is it true that GPT needs to be lubed every thousand or 1.5K shots? Or that it gets dirty after few thousand rounds and starts to gum up, not reset ? If so I'm keeping my polished stock trigger with 3.5lb connector.
I put one of these on my carry G34. I switched the stock shoe for the Apex flat flace shoe. And also added an 8lb "+" connector. Best duty grade striker trigger I've ever felt.
I purchased a g47 earlier this year and have no complaints about the trigger. Most accurate handgun I have shot. I have shot a variety of s&w and berettas, and it hasn’t been even close. I do have the 20% discount for registering my glock. I may use it on this.
I wish Glock would be clear on whether or not their performance trigger is geared for carry/duty use or more “competition” or other means. This could be something brought up in court in a self defense case, so the more clear Glock gets the better it will be for the end user.
The packaging says " Trigger Pull Weight ~ 4 lbs. Does not meet NIJ Standard for LE use." That seems pretty clear. NIJ standard is between 4.5 - 8 lbs.
'NIJ standard' is meaningless if you're not LE. As for it being safe and geared towards carry use, my Armorer's Course re-cert this month confirmed that it is. This is not a competition trigger, either by design or marketing. Self-defense shooting cases don't bother with equipment, they emphasize perception of danger and facts like imminent threat of death/great bodily injury, and means/intent/opportunity and ability of the suspect.
When I got my G17, I immediately installed a TImney Trigger, then switched to the Apex Trigger. When I practice, I like hitting the 10 Pt area. A smoother, a bit lighter "trigger pull" assists me in shooting accurately. Self Defense, yes, I would like to be able to shoot accurately as possible.
14:54 i did. just tonight, when i swapped out the connector. it was easy. just a standard driver in the circle hole opposite side, lift the spring assembly, insert driver, and allow the arm to push out the driver, use logic on holding the driver and making this work but i didn't know of jonny glock either, twice today i've heard his name. this trigger is sensitive for sure. great videos as always.
I am considering getting one, I believe there is a Gen 4 version too now with a different backplate. Correct me if I am wrong. The one thing I don't like is the trigger going forward after being pulled. Not used to that and it's one of the things I like about Glocks. You can tell the trigger has been pulled on a Glock just by looking at it.
No but if you want metal sights Glocks can be ordered with them mine came with ameriglo agents . If you buy a Glock with plastic sights than you chose to do so .
i just got the glock 47. the trigger is actually super crisp. it has some grit that will work out with a few hundred rounds but i was surprised with it. way better than my 19 or 20
I've said it before, you'll never notice it in a gunfight. However, Glock knew there was great room for improvement. And answered the call. SIG's trigger is phenomenal inspite of their reliability issues and pistol weight. Glock ROCKS
Thank you for the clear closeups so I could get mine back together after i switched the flat face trigger shoe with my stock Glock trigger shoe, all the other youtube videos purporting to show how to disassemble and reassemble the GPT trigger are 15 foot shots, blurry and/or dark and one youtuber even hs the balls to claim that "plolishing" (snake oil BS) a stock trigger and putting in a minus connector is as good or better than the GPT.
Gotta say my old gen 3, G19 which has seen tens-of-thousands rds not to include dryfiring on the same trigger system, has a slight but defined wall and an immediate break which appears much better than any gen oem or the performance trigger. Creep to break is about 1/18 -1/32 of an inch...yes it took a while but the more I shot it the better it got with age...like finely aged tobacco leaves in a great cigar.
Sootch👍, excellent explanation with excellent camera close ups of the Glock Performance Trigger for Gen5 Glocks. Timney is an independent, not Glock factory engineering. Always go with the factory performance parts for development and reliability when available. Independents try hard to make money on fads and emotion. Factory is best. If you are concerned the pull weight being too light (especially for carry) then put a 6lb striker spring in it. It should bring it up about .5-.75 lbs.
A heavier striker spring doesn’t really affect this trigger, because the striker is already being held in the rear position when it’s cocked. I was using a lighter striker spring, but when I put the performance trigger in I put in a 6 pound spring just to ensure reliability of setting off primers and it didn’t really make a difference.
@@jdk_360 fair point. I guess I was thinking in terms of the OEM trigger and wasn’t accounting for the change in geometry (ie pre-cocked striker). Did you happen to test it before and after? It didn’t even gain 1/4 a lb?
I had one in a Glock 45. It would fail to reset once it got a 100ish rounds in it. Cleaning helped. But came right back. The rubbing on the frame and magazine is just to much for the weak spring to overcome. I polished everything. Cleaned up burrs it still did it . Complete garbage.
Sootch00, like always, great informative video. I EDC a G19X, one of the first things I did was switch the trigger for an Apex trigger.Even though I’m happy to see Glock doing improvements and bringing us new products, I think they have gotten complacent over the years. I spent well over 1,500$ on modifications for my G19X (milled slide, stippling, threaded barrel etc) when other companies are selling their products out of the box with many modifications. Again, I commend Glock for doing improvements but I’m sure they can do much more without passing the cost to the consumer.
Dam this is really Good ... from an amateur tried a supper anhanced trigger , O' Man double fire ..... Again a Amateur my mistake....went back to Glock store ....Back to stock trigger......Happy shooter. G19 mos.
I watched Lenny at the Glock store install the Double Diamond 3.5 lb. trigger connector link (only) with All stock springs making it a 4.5lb. trigger, slightly less take up, CRISP CLEAN BRAKE and slightly quicker reset. Very smooth all the way through. What an improvement, more accurate, faster follow up, I'm very happy with it . G-45 , G-43x . I wanted to keep them as stock as possible, the DD connector was the answer, best $25 improvement you'll make on the gen 5 original assembly. Thanks Don
I have the Ghost Tactical 5.0 connector. It requires fitting but is very easy with a Dremel tool. The fitting is required to minimize the over-travel, which will in turn render a short reset. It makes a huge difference. Like you, I think it's the best $25 I've spent. I've shot other G19's with after market triggers and I prefer mine. It's a no brainer.
DD 3.5 connector and Overwatch Precision shoe on all my glocks, works great…….this trigger seems to have the striker at full tension, while in battery….may be a better break and overall feel…..might give one a try for 99 bucks.
I think the important difference to emphasize is that the standard trigger loads and releases the trigger simultaneously. The enhanced trigger holds the striker fully cocked and simply releases it.
I installed a Glockstore enhanced performance trigger into one of my daggers. It is a great trigger and makes a world of difference in shooting that gun. I may get one for my G4 G17 now.
Glock store makes a piece for around $8 to help reassemble the new Glock trigger when you take it apart. Little orange piece that holds the spring I think. A lot of people having. The same problem. Watch a few of the videos and the Glock guy will tell what that piece is called.
Thanks for the good review. I am glad its not like a competition trigger. I would want one for carry. I hope this becomes the new stock trigger or an option to get it in a new Glock. They should have included it in that newer Glock 47 so people felt like they were getting a better deal.
As an amatour competitor in Brazil, where all parts are hard to get and MUCH MUCH more expensive, you thing a ghost connector / springs by itself will improve my trigger feeling, or need to invest in a trigger set? then should go straight to timney if in that direction?
I put a Timney in my G45 because I have them in other Glocks, but it didn't perform and I had light strikes and a rather weird feel. However, I had a new Glockstore Pyramid gen 5 trigger sitting around, and it works great- very much like this new Performance trigger. If I hadn't already had the Pyramid, I'd definitely get the Glock factory Performance trigger (for half the price).
Wonder if they'll make a LE version of this trigger, with the extra half pound of pull weight to required to meet the 4.5lb minimum pull weight requirement un NIJ's Baseline Specifications for Law Enforcement Service Pistols
All my handguns (Glock and Walther) have after purchase triggers. Walther's Dynamic Trigger is a very solid improvement over its already very good trigger. For my Glocks, I've bought GlockStore and Johnny Glocks triggers. I've never had issues with my Johnny Combat triggers but my GS triggers especially one in particular I've had both failure to feed and eject. After having either issue at the range, I'll replace that trigger with the original and have no issues for many magazines. But I'm about as forgiving on that trigger as JC himself and I'll put it back into the Glock. But the cycle won't repeat itself bc I'm just going to buy a Glock Performance Trigger. Thanks for another great review!!!
Glock Performance Trigger with Johnny Glocks Vex trigger shoe & "Enhanced Performance" Glock plus connector is what I plan to swap in on an EDC G19.5...
I love the stock trigger on my glocks, never noticed or had any problems with sponginess. If I did I'd use something else, that's why I sold my original Shield 9mm
I also love Glock stock triggers, perfect for self-defense. They aren't meant to be target grade triggers; they are great at what their supposed to be.
@@АлакПатрова I agree with is. People make me laugh when they say this other striker fired trigger is so much better than a stock Glock trigger. All striker triggers are not as good as my 1911's or my Sig P229 with SRT. The Glock stock trigger is good for what it is, not a target competition trigger, but a self-defense trigger.
@@sqlb3rn I own and have shot countless guns. Glock triggers are awful. If they weren't this video wouldn't exist. Striker fire triggers suck compared to hammers and glock triggers are just awful although ill neber get rid of my G40
For $30 bucks you can get “black yikes connector” for your Glock that gets the trigger pull down to 4lbs with the stock trigger so there’s no issue installing it in your self defense guns
If I had to get rid of all my guns except for 2 I'd go with my Glock 17 and my Ruger PCC that I switched over to use Glock mags. I've had every version of Glock 17 since 1992. I love deep mountain camping and that combo saves space and weight and has served me extremely well for years. Had my backpack rigged out for the PCC that can separate. I know people will tell me there are better pistols and PCCs but honestly if the system isn't broke I'm not going to waste my money changing it up. I'm not a Glockhead. I have H&K, CZ, Canik, Springfield, Sig, Taurus .22, and Walther pistols and absolutely love all of them for different reasons like I love all 7 of my boys. Each are uniquely great in different ways. However, I have never in in my life ever even held a Glock 19, no idea why. Yesterday I had to get my lawnmower blades sharpened at the D&B Supply so while I was waiting I talked to the good ole boy who works the gun counter. Long story a bit longer, I was messing around with the latest Glock 19 and is fantastic. Don't know if it had the performance trigger or not but whatever they did on this particular pistol I'm a huge fan. Glock will never go away. Every new pistol is a "Glock Killer" but Glock just keeps doing what it does putting tons of pistols in tons of people's hands.
So thoughts on the double diamond connector? Is it worth it? Also whats the difference in the performance trigger and the pyramid trigger? Great video man! I subscribed!
You should do a review on the Holosun 509T with the primary arms ACSS reticle. IT’S GREAT!!! It’s easy to put the trigger back together if you use the Glock punch as a “slave” to help ld the spring back while sliding the trigger bar in place.
Changing the shoe really makes a huge difference. You can use a stock shoe or if you don’t mind spending a few bucks, Johnny Glock makes some great shoes for this trigger.
I just installed this trigger. After the break, I can continue to squeeze and get some spongy flex rather than a hard stop. Is this normal for these triggers?
I'm looking at purchasing the performance trigger for my gen5 glock 17. Has anyone changed out the factory shoe? I'm looking at the overwatch precision polydat shoe for the performance trigger.
I own a few Glocks, and they are great, BUT it bothers me that you should, not have to, replace the sights, trigger, and maybe put some Talon Grips on. They are like the Honda Civic, you can depend on them, but many other brands have much better features for lower prices.
@Just As I said, "not have to" . All of mine are stock. I think people make such a issue about triggers and sights, you just have to be proficient with your different firearms. If I wanted my 19 to be as good as my SIG I would have to change out the trigger and sights, but it's not that important to spend the money on, especially on a gun I don't carry .
Personally I think you can get a better equally reliable trigger for about the same price if not just a little more and to be honest im not impressed. Great review Sootch00 im a huge fan and been waiting for you to review this trigger. Thanks!
@@sootch00 yes I agree and honestly that being OEM is a great advantage to the Glock platform especially for EDC which let’s be honest we are not all John Wicks out there haha. I can't imagine this is going to be better out of the box than the Overwatch Precision drop in with a complete polish job on the trigger bar radius, metal on metal face, and the cruciform surface, and then breaking the edge off and polishing the bottom edge of the trigger bar radius and the underside of the cruciform kick-up. Takes all of the springy/crunchy feel out and makes is smooth as glass with about a 4-4.5 lb pull. With that nice OP flat trigger with the index hook at the bottom...perfect for EDC.
It seems like the Glock performance trigger is quite a bit cheaper than the Overwatch or Timney triggers, at least here in Europe. It's also the only option if you want to shoot IPSC production because you're not allowed to use 3rd party triggers in that division. OEM replacements are fine though.
@@maximilianmustermann5763 Do they have a Glock performance trigger yet for the slimline models...or one in the works? I got an Overwatch for mine that is built on an OEM trigger bar so it is about as close as I can get but I'd like to stay totally OEM if I could.

I like my timneys
@@juniorlewalski4393 My Timney had a really light trigger pull, I did a double tap when I meant to single tap. I went Oh Sh*t!
@@ldaniel5915 lmao!!!! The first time I shot mine I was pretty amazed and scared myself too. Don't feel bad!
I wish they made for the Glock 21. I have one for my model Glock 45 9mm. It made a huge difference in my shooting and groups. Absolutely fantastic!
I put the new trigger in my 47 and I really like it, I think it is definitely an upgrade!
Does this trigger come with a set of real sights.
No but if you want metal sights Glocks can be ordered with them mine came with ameriglo agents . If you buy a Glock with plastic sights than you chose to do so .
Glock is way behind in the stock sights game.. and... the GPT should be in every brand new Glock. Just my measly worthless two cents.
That new trigger is nice but replacing the Connector is not easy . Original glock trigger with Johny glock vex trigger shoe is sweet .
i just got the glock 47. the trigger is actually super crisp. it has some grit that will work out with a few hundred rounds but i was surprised with it. way better than my 19 or 20
I’m glad you did a video on this, I’ve been thinking about getting it for my 19x but have been undecided.
Same
Just put one on my 19.5! It is an awesome trigger! Great review sootch
Armourer Johnny Glock is the exception. He's top shelf 👍
Rest in Peace

Good to see Glock offering this.
The OEM Factory aspect of this trigger is a win in my book.
You wrote a book?
I've read your book. Excellent literature.
Fantastic book!
Did you mention in your book how ridiculous it is that you have to immediately replace the shitty plastic sights and trigger on your “Perfection”?
@poconofrank9476 that's why this is a win. Maybe we'll start getting aftermarket supremacy from the factory finally. (Don't hold your breathe though)
@@jdk_360 I take it you like the performance trigger?
I had one in a Glock 45. It would fail to reset once it got a 100ish rounds in it. Cleaning helped. But came right back. The rubbing on the frame and magazine is just to much for the weak spring to overcome. I polished everything. Cleaned up burrs it still did it . Complete garbage.
Thank you for this I was waiting for your review of Glock performance trigger
Recently installed it.. love it!
I trust Johnny Glock products over OEM and I just purchased his Vex shoe OEM Glock trigger performance upgrade kit. Thank you Sootch
Then they came out with the 19x mos and you get all that for 714.99 lol
Replaced all my Glock triggers with McNally triggers (adjustable). Glad I did!
I recently bought a trigger for my G4 19 from your friend Robbie Wheaton and couldn't be happier about the trigger and his advice.
Dam this is really Good ... from an amateur tried a supper anhanced trigger , O' Man double fire ..... Again a Amateur my mistake....went back to Glock store ....Back to stock trigger......Happy shooter. G19 mos.
It would be nice if they would go ahead and make one for the G20 , G21 😢
10mm boys left out. pain....
10mm for sure
I watched Lenny at the Glock store install the Double Diamond 3.5 lb. trigger connector link (only) with All stock springs making it a 4.5lb. trigger, slightly less take up, CRISP CLEAN BRAKE and slightly quicker reset. Very smooth all the way through. What an improvement, more accurate, faster follow up, I'm very happy with it . G-45 , G-43x . I wanted to keep them as stock as possible, the DD connector was the answer, best $25 improvement you'll make on the gen 5 original assembly. Thanks Don
The complete pyramid trigger is awesome. I put it In my 30s it's a game changer.
DD 3.5 connector and Overwatch Precision shoe on all my glocks, works great…….this trigger seems to have the striker at full tension, while in battery….may be a better break and overall feel…..might give one a try for 99 bucks.
way this trigger works reminds me of how original Colt 1911 GoldNational Match with Sear Depressor & Spring set up
I think the important difference to emphasize is that the standard trigger loads and releases the trigger simultaneously. The enhanced trigger holds the striker fully cocked and simply releases it.
Cool new trigger love to have one on my glock thanks for sharing sootch00
I have a G45 on layaway. I'll be sure to try this trigger in it once I get it. Great video like usual, sootch! I hope You are well.
Same. Just waiting on the Radian Ramjet + Afterburner microcompensator now.
I installed a Glockstore enhanced performance trigger into one of my daggers. It is a great trigger and makes a world of difference in shooting that gun. I may get one for my G4 G17 now.
Was using Blazer Brass 9mm 124 grain but like that Fiocchi 124 quite a bit. Couple bucks cheaper too.
Glock store makes a piece for around $8 to help reassemble the new Glock trigger when you take it apart. Little orange piece that holds the spring I think. A lot of people having. The same problem. Watch a few of the videos and the Glock guy will tell what that piece is called.
Sad that glock has never made a model with double strike capability like taurus and canik.
A glock with a D/S hammer and id be in
It takes down easier if you pull the trigger as you remove the slide.
Thanks for the good review. I am glad its not like a competition trigger. I would want one for carry. I hope this becomes the new stock trigger or an option to get it in a new Glock. They should have included it in that newer Glock 47 so people felt like they were getting a better deal.
would you recommend the v1 performance trigger or the v2 enhanced performance trigger for EDC?
Thank you for the detailed and informative review.
Just threw one of these in my Gen 5 G19 and wow, what a difference.
Has it been solid for you?
Me too G45 and light strikes i wonder why
Wonder if they'll make a LE version of this trigger, with the extra half pound of pull weight to required to meet the 4.5lb minimum pull weight requirement un NIJ's Baseline Specifications for Law Enforcement Service Pistols
Great review
Ok, I am buying one thanks to this review. Best regards from Sweden!
I use Johnny Glocks triggers in my Glocks and it's freaking amazing around 3.5 lbs crispy break. Johnny is the master at Glock triggers.
You must only own stiker fires. Compared to hammer fires they feel like dog crap
@@АлакПатрова You must not have shot many guns, the Glock trigger feels fine to me. None of your business what I own comrade.
You can't tell me a glock trigger is anywhere as good as hell even a beretta 92FS let alone a 1911. Striker fire triggers suck compared to hammers and glock triggers are just awful although ill neber get rid of my G40
Great video on this new trigger. I agree I like shooting Fiocchi too. Never had a problem with it.
Do they make those triggers for the glock 48?
For $30 bucks you can get “black yikes connector” for your Glock that gets the trigger pull down to 4lbs with the stock trigger so there’s no issue installing it in your self defense guns
When your trying to keep you endorsements
Why is it for 9mm only. Aren’t they the same internally?
In my most humble and ignorant opinion, I love my Glocks stock! Perfection out of the box.
I put the Taran Tactical grandmaster connector kit and Apex tactical Trigger kit in my Glock.
So thoughts on the double diamond connector? Is it worth it? Also whats the difference in the performance trigger and the pyramid trigger? Great video man! I subscribed!
Or .... You could buy a Walther PDP. Just saying.
Pay more money for garbage???
You should do a review on the Holosun 509T with the primary arms ACSS reticle. IT’S GREAT!!! It’s easy to put the trigger back together if you use the Glock punch as a “slave” to help ld the spring back while sliding the trigger bar in place.
Has this channel ever had sponsor / product that was not liked with an honest review ! ?
This channel is bought and paid for ! ?
About to get this for my 19x this weekend
Changing the shoe really makes a huge difference. You can use a stock shoe or if you don’t mind spending a few bucks, Johnny Glock makes some great shoes for this trigger.
I can't stand the triggers in the 43x & 48 for some reason they just feel different
Can anyone tell me if this enhanced trigger is compatible with the 43X in MOS? The Glock Shop doesn’t list this particular gun as being compatible.
It’s for standard frame Glocks not slimline
Late in the game just wondering have you did a comparison to the Pyramid flat face basic trigger assemblies per GLOCKSTORE ???
I just installed this trigger. After the break, I can continue to squeeze and get some spongy flex rather than a hard stop. Is this normal for these triggers?
I still dont get why Glock hasn’t released a different series of Glock models. S&W had the M1, M2, metal versions and even the SDV models.
Because they're not very bright.
@@kreevisful Their main costumers are still police and military.
My agency has definitely been worthy of purchasing.
-Put a heavier trigger return spring to bring up ur pull weight and create aggressive reset. No need to use different connectors.
I'm looking at purchasing the performance trigger for my gen5 glock 17. Has anyone changed out the factory shoe? I'm looking at the overwatch precision polydat shoe for the performance trigger.
the Glock Performance Trigger doesn't reset to the rear for dry firing.
You holding the gun up that long reminded me of Ricky Bobby. "I don't know where to put my hands when I'm talking." 😄
Personally I think you can get a better equally reliable trigger for about the same price if not just a little more and to be honest im not impressed. Great review Sootch00 im a huge fan and been waiting for you to review this trigger. Thanks!
Thanks Jamie, It's a Glock OEM trigger and a lot of people will trust it over others, but there are a lot of solid trigger options out there for sure.
@@sootch00 yes I agree and honestly that being OEM is a great advantage to the Glock platform especially for EDC which let’s be honest we are not all John Wicks out there haha. I’m definitely considering this trigger now but after your reviews and support of Wheaton arms I went the Wheaton trigger route and man I love it, a real game changer
@@jaimesalgado9666 Have you shot it yet?
@@Libertarian_Neighbor yes sir. Quality reliable awesome trigger and especially at its excellent price point you just can’t beat it. Wheaton arms triggers are the way to go
I can't imagine this is going to be better out of the box than the Overwatch Precision drop in with a complete polish job on the trigger bar radius, metal on metal face, and the cruciform surface, and then breaking the edge off and polishing the bottom edge of the trigger bar radius and the underside of the cruciform kick-up.
@@90whatever I don't know, sorry. I just ordered my first Glock (model 45) and have only had a CZ and a Walther 9mm before.
So, I am not really a Glock guy, I was just researching trigger replacements for the 45, that I don't even have yet.
I have a tendency to pull the trigger with a sideways motion which can bind some Glock triggers and feels bad. How is it with this one?
This trigger was better for my 19 MOS, but not exceptional. I just picked up a Johnny Glock combat trigger for my 43x and it is outstanding.
You clearly get what you pay for and I’m worth the extra money. Johnny G I’ll be ordering more triggers, thank you.
Johnny Glock gives away all of his trade secrets in his UA-cam videos...I did his complete polish and edge-break job with a dremel and polishing compound on my 43X MOS on an Overwatch Precision flat face drop in...along with a GhostInc connector...Night and day difference now and actually as good as my Sig that I had a trigger job done. And literally takes like 15 minutes to do if you follow his great instructions.
