David, thanks. What would really be helpful is a PDF here in the show notes that we can download and keep as David's video settings with notes as to the whys and what fors. I could refer to it in the field from my phone or iPad. And preparing such material would set you up material and notes that you could compile into a book. +Joe A7Rii Sounds like a great idea Joe but I just dont have the time for that at the moment as I am flat out editing weddings lol. Thanks for the great comment though
Random question. I see you didn't change the this to 16:9. Was there a particular reason for that. Awesome video and very informative. I regularly use the Cine4 but with the pro setting. Gonna create another preset with these settings and try it out.
Great tutorial. I'm in my second season of shooting weddings and also picked up the A7s. I'm very new to color grading so could you recommend a profile suited to simply cut and edit with some contrast and brightness adjustments?
David when I shoot with my a6300 set in 4K mode like you show on your video why does the file say MP4 when I download to Lightroom? What does your file extension say when you shoot video? I just want to make sure I am getting a 4K video.
Everything I shoot has noticeable grain to it. I'm not using slog I'm using cine 2 with cinema color and sharpness -7 with no other changes to pp5. No matter what I try video always looks grainy in the shadows. Anyone know what I could be doing wrong? I'm not going over iso 800.
David I have an a6300 set to take 4k like you show, when I open the files in Final Cut Pro X they show the file type MPEG-4 movie. Am I getting a 4k file?
The easiest way to tell is to right click the file in finder and choose about info to see what the resolution is as long as you have chosen 4 k in the camera it should be a 4K file.
Hi, I have my camera set at 4k XAVC S, 24p 100m. The files come out as .mp4 files. I am doing something wrong or is that how it's suppose to be? What do I need to do and can I covert the files to a different format? I am new to sony cameras.
Hi David, I noticed that you have grain all over the footage. I have that problem wherever i shoot. My footage is never clean when i put them on my computer. What am I doing wrong? ALL my footage is grainy no matter which ISO i use. I RESET the camera back to factory but didn't help. Thank you.
Jo Kanin Media hi I have never noticed grain in my footage at all unless I go ver high in the ISO. Perhaps it is an exposure problem or your camera is faulty

you mentioned your set at 'super 35' but didn't show how that is set - is it something that needs setting.
Hi you it is selected in the menu record settings.

No reason.

I shoot flat and then add in the corrections using ColourFinale in final cut x so there is some grading required

Great video thanks, can you recommend a good AF setting? I'm using a 55 lens and it struggles to keep focus on auto.
Hi I mostly use continuous focus with center focus point selected.

That happens if you dont expose correctly. you need to over expose it you are shooting flat

David how do you get you shutter speed down to 1/50 I use your same settings and mines is still stuck at 1/125.
That is weird I just shoot manual and select 1/50 sec
