Now that is talent! My Grandfather raised sheep and was a master at shearing. He respected a man with skill who could be quick and gentle! I wish he was alive to see this.
I had a foster dad who was a sheep shearer..I was astonished when I saw how the sheep just lie there once on their bum and are so calm!....and s As he was a sheep shearer his hands were so soft because of the lanolin in the wool! Fascinating !
He did a fantastic job shearing those sheep. It's not unusual to see the sheep knicked up after it's been sheared, but these guys looked fantastic afterwards!
Those sheep are a-dor-a-ble! They're just starting to make their way here to the states and some shepherds are crossing them for better/softer handle in wool quality. Archie did an excellent job keeping the fleece into one large piece, he deserves a few pints. Thanks for the video!
The breed is perfect the way it is. If you want a different micron count for the wool, pick a different breed. This is for rugs and durables - and of course, eye candy.
Us Valais People are glad the breed is getting more popular, would be a shame if they started to vanish. But the wool is perfectly fine as is. If you want better quality wool, get a different breed.
They are really cute. And they were my favourite as 'world's cutest sheep' but Sandi Brock of Shepard's Creek Farm, here in Ontario, has the world's cutest ram (lamb? He's less than a year old but he has just covered his first ewes). He's predominantly Rideau Alcott - his dad is purebred and his mom is a mix with a lot of Rideau. They are a breed developed by the Canadian Government from a blend of several sheep breeds, designed to be able to cope with our harsh winters, be prolific and able to breed year round. Colour wasn't a top priority as our wool business ... well, it mostly just 'isn't'. Sandi has a vlog called 'sheepishly me' that I've followed since before she had 10,000 subscribers (she just passed 200,000) and it is likely due to me following her that You Tube pointed me to you so you may owe her a thank you for boosting your following by at least 1 - me. Love your videos and seeing sheep kept outdoors on pasture (Sandi's unfortunately, never get to set foot on grass due to weather, her tight breeding program - ewes lambing every 9 months and she has at least 3 'flocks' in the rotation, and predators.). I'm getting better at understanding your accent (though it can require a few backing-ups to catch exactly what you said when you are speaking really fast) and you use a lot of terms I'm not familiar with. Looking forward to catching up on them all. Thank you for entertaining us during this particularly difficult year.
That is some tight fleece! Kudos to that guy - not a single nick! Efficient - keeps the stress lower. I think the sheep enjoy the process. Surely they have to get itchy sometimes!
Trishaec clark, respect to your grandad, in those times too, they would have used shearers without power, hard work, my dad also was a farmer and i also miss him greatly, take care 🤗
Oh my goodness I’ve been watching your videos recently and when I clicked on this one from 6 months ago and I almost didn’t recognize you Cammie your hair is so short ! Lol ! 🥰
I appreciate you showing a full shear from start to finish… it’s so interesting to see. I can imagine it might be a bit nerve wracking working with such valuable sheep. You mentioned that these sheep get cut twice a year… do other breeds only get cut once? Also, how old are lambs when they get their first shear? Just curious… so fascinating! Thanks for your content!
I have a city girl question. Do the sheep act differently after they are shorn? I wonder if they feel better. It seems like they would. The only thing I can compare this to is getting my old long haired cat shaved once a year. She was very fluffy and couldn’t groom herself very well anymore, so we’d get her a summer “lion cut” once a year. They left her head, her paws (like boots), and a poof at the end of her tail for our amusement. She was a cranky old gal but after her haircut, she would be really loveable and want to be petted all the time. Are sheep like this, too?
These sheep are adorable there expensive for my blood . The teddy bear sheep are cute and small as well. No hot doing sheering with those beauties . 😎🐑🐑🐏😊
How did I miss this, they remind me of teddy bears! Do you charge more as it takes 6mins to shear?Been nowhere to wrap wool this year...really missed it, thanks for sharing Cammy!!
Hanging out with Archie really ratchets up the brogue! Which isn’t a bad thing, it’s just interesting how thick and rich the accent suddenly becomes when it’s a couple of Scots shooting the breeze. Why are these sheep so expensive? They are incredibly cute, they look like some kind of Star Wars muppet, but what makes such a high maintenance sheep worth such a steep price tag?
Yeah it's hard for me to keep my UA-cam voice sometimes! It's partly down to how they look but also how rare they are as u can no longer export them from Switzerland.
Were those sheep washed before shearing? Because, they are absolutely the cleanest sheep I have ever seen! Between being indoors bedded for the winter and lush green pastures when they out grazing, I doubt they have never seen bare dirt!
I have a genuine question, is it safe for the sheep to be twisted and turned like playdo during shearing? Edit: oki, question was asked in video. So thats neat
Wow those sheep have a lot of wool. I wonder how much it would take to spin enough for nice warm winter sweater, mitts & felted boots for this cold weather we are having in Western Canada at the moment
I saw hundreds of these throughout the Alps when I lived, worked and rock climbed competitively around Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. They can get really fluffy! Much cuter and there would have to be government regulation! (I’m sure most European governments have already created a ‘cute tax’...here in America they call it producer taxes.)
Shearing appears to take a lot longer than the average sheep. Are they larger or do you have to be more careful? Or what is the specific reason? The little ones are so cute, can't help but become instantly in love with them! 04/21/22 1:08am PDT
Can't say that I see this sheep beautiful , could not compete with the Blackis !! The most important thing is probably too keep a could barn too keep aslittle as possible vith lanolin in the flees🐑🇳🇴Norwegian sheep farmer
Have you ever taken a lamb that doesn’t start breathing immediately and grab it by the back legs (two people on either side) and swing it back and forth being sure their airways are clear?
Honestly i have no idea then! They are Switzerland based but they don’t export anymore. You would have to buy embryos and have them flown in and placed in recipient ewes. It would cost u a fortune😳
This video put Isaiah 53 in a bit more light of understanding for me. I'm curious what does the blacknose sheep eat can you tell me a bit more about how you would care for them? Like eating and curious what soap did you use to bathe it. Some people say you can treat it somewhat like you would a dog. Your opinion and a bit of expertise be appreciated.
OOF, they are SO dirty! You'd think they'd be kept up much nicer if they cost so much.... then again, doodle mutts cost the same and people let them get dirty and pelted too 💦
It's called SCOTTISH! it's a form of English but more difficult to understand. I mentioned this to Cammy he said keep trying, your Scottish might improve with time. But I'm not so sure? It's a very complicated language , needing subtitles at times?
Nothing looks quite as pathetic and out of sorts than a freshly sheered sheep. Yep I know they need to be done, and not doing it is really really bad because they don’t shed and the coat keeps growing. Just they look weird with no wool and pink skinned like alien creatures

It is some technique to have them in the right position so that they are comfortable and don't want to wriggle away, soft hand one bonus of the job 👌
I love how Archie is so gentle with the sheep. Such gorgeous sheep, I agree, they are the cutest sheep in the world!!!
He did a fantastic job shearing those sheep. It's not unusual to see the sheep knicked up after it's been sheared, but these guys looked fantastic afterwards!
Archie did a lovely job. He was continuous in his movements and the animals showed they were not in any stress. Job Well Done!
I could watch these gorgeous little sheep all day, I swear if I worked with them I’d get no work done.
There cuteness could be very distracting 😂
Absolutely my favorite sheep breed.💖
They are amazin!
Cammy you should be a presenter on country file. You have natural talent in front of the camera
Thanks mate might need a few more subscribers before that! 😂

I also follow Sandi. UA-cam algorithm sent me here too. Love both the channels. My Scottish has improved too... Greetings from New Zealand.
So am I! I think the algoritm got me here as well. From Sweden and still learning the Scottish accent.😂 Lovely sheep.
I am absolutely in love with this breed!!!
Very braw!!
❤ so adorable are they as sweet and cuddly as they look?
This is both educational and interesting. Thanks.
Wow these sheep are absolutely adorable ! 💜
Definitely the cutest sheep on earth!🐑

Dear gawd those sheep are so cute!!!!
That is a prize winning fleece for sure!!! Nice tight shave with no nicks, scrapes or blood!!! He is fantastic!!! I want some of that fleece!❣️❣️❣️
Years of practice to shear so well!
, would love to spin some that! Bet it spins like a dream!!!
Well if you’re UK i could send u a fleece easy enough!
@@TheSheepGame sadly, I'm across the pond in New Hampshire, USA. Sigh, I'll just have love it from afar! ❣️❣️❣️
Pretty cool that you are watching from so far away. Thanks!! 😁
I know your Scottish, but your humor reminds me SO much of my Irish family here and in a Ireland.
Cute sheep. Wow, that's a lot of work to shear one. 🐑 🐏
I know nothing about sheep, but I just fell in love with your black nose sheep here in Pennsylvania.
Trishaec clark, respect to your grandad, in those times too, they would have used shearers without power, hard work, my dad also was a farmer and i also miss him greatly, take care 🤗
Came by to see the sheep on the recommendation of The hoof GP. This was so fascinating! Never seen a sheep sheared before.
Thanks! He's my hero =D

Wooloos!😁🥰 (the Pokemon Wooloo is based off of them)
I was right into pokemon when i was at school. Then it went a bit crazy with all the extra ones 😂
Wooloo is more likey to be based off of a Suffolk sheep.

8:12 calming watching a sheep shearing video, when suddenly, LLAMA!
Haha, like to change it up a bit!

Now to see that beautiful fleece clean up, spun and knit into a nice Gansey! Question: why does it take so long to shear this breed?
These sheep are adorable there expensive for my blood . The teddy bear sheep are cute and small as well. No hot doing sheering with those beauties . 😎🐑🐑🐏😊

Yes Margaret these are a lot more expensive to shear. Takes a long time. I have 30 to do in January!
Interesting video

Beautiful animal.
Miss your sheep sheering hairdo😎
How does the fleece stack up against Merino or others? I knit and crochet and love Icelandic lopi wool!
Apparently it's a good fine wool but i'm no wool expert so couldn't really say!
Thank you.
Were those sheep washed before shearing? Because, they are absolutely the cleanest sheep I have ever seen! Between being indoors bedded for the winter and lush green pastures when they out grazing, I doubt they have never seen bare dirt!
They are constantly on fresh straw and nice pasture so they do stay very clean most of the year =D
Are the fleeces worth anything compared to ordinary breeds
I have a genuine question, is it safe for the sheep to be twisted and turned like playdo during shearing?
Edit: oki, question was asked in video. So thats neat

They certainly do Alice, and it takes quite a bit more time to shear them than most other sheep!
I believe their hair is too course to use for clothing. At least I've heard that anyhow.
I saw hundreds of these throughout the Alps when I lived, worked and rock climbed competitively around Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy. They can get really fluffy! Amazing, would be great to see them in their native countries in the mountains, maybe one day I'll get a chance to go and visit.

Love your vids do u have your own sheering set up and scanning is that what u do as well as your own sheep
Yes mate. Run about 550 breeding ewes and Scan / Shear as well.
Ah fare play lad great to see young blood farming I’m 15 and starting sheep next year
Diese Rasse ist sooo wunderschön
Would like to know what the fleece is used for, where it goes from there.
It will go to the British wool board where it will be graded and used accordingly, quite possibly used for carpets/underlay.
I lived long enough to see you with a haircut. I realize I see the videos out of order but it’s stil a break. Do you say why their fleece grows faster
wow😍😍😍😍
Cute!
Now I really kinda want a fleece farm wih Alpaca, and various breeds of sheep including these guys.
Nice to know there is a sheep under all that. They may be cute to some but do they make good eating ?
Have you ever taken a lamb that doesn’t start breathing immediately and grab it by the back legs (two people on either side) and swing it back and forth being sure their airways are clear?
Are sheep naturally timid and move away from humans? Or are these scared?🧐
Sheep would naturally move away from humans, it is possible to tame them especially if you just have a few pet ones.
So if I owned a lamb and wanted to bring it in to get cut how much would it cost?
To get it sheared? Depends on the country and the shearer 😁
I don’t know why I didn’t think this breed of sheep don’t get sheared. I guess I’ve just never seen a one shaved down.
Awwwww
How much are the lambs costin theUSA
Have you ever had an accident with horns?
WOW ! He shaved me so close, I have no hair down there - to use any NAIR on !!!
where can i buy those sheep?
Depends what country you are in Angelino?

Man, I bet his back hurts at the end of the day!
The first few days of the season can be a bit tight/sore but you soon get fit to it and no problems after that.
Subtitles would be nice to have, I could not tell what language he was speaking.
Will work on that, thanks!
My guess is a very thick Scottish accent??
Some may say the cuteist sheep in the world I say the weirdest looking sheep in the world
Why?
Why are your comments always so negative? Do you need some attention, you sad thing?
@@tinydancer36 this is just about the most negative comment I have made and all I seid was I thought valais blacknose sheep look a odd

They are pretty damn cute but honestly that eerie black hole of a face is kind of unsettling for some reason lol
7:08 It looks like she was hurt with the razor around her upper right leg
Maybe. All in all though, Nicks do happen commonly in the heal quickly, and there wasn't even a visible room so the sheep is definitely fine
Hello i'm from usa i want to buy 2 VALAIS BLACKNOSE SHEEP

It’s about time you buggers got onto some sheep, you have to do some work on😂🤣😥
They're still cute naked.
Ok why so expensive, what is the return on investment, seems a pain in the ass to shear, does the meat taste special,
I don’t understand how they can be sweet and docile while being manipulated, practically upside down, legs akimbo.
I saw one on the news and it sold at £10000
Van Farming Life if you go to 7.50 in video the ram with nose to camera was £10k. 😁
Shoulda changed those hot blades at some point 😠
They look cute in fleece but not so much shorn.
you're right there Melissa!!
Those aren't sheep they're Taun Tauns, and you thought they smelled bad on the outside!
Shaun the sheep
There are not enough clicks on my counter to want to shear a pen of these.
Horrible to shear mate you are right!
OOF, they are SO dirty! You'd think they'd be kept up much nicer if they cost so much.... then again, doodle mutts cost the same and people let them get dirty and pelted too 💦

Aye they do look quite different with their wool off.
They don’t look real

He's kind of rude with this poor sheep, don't u think?
Stoic Gmail nope, he keeps the sheep in a position so it doesn’t struggle and get nicked. It’s quite the science, like a ballet.
