I was looking for a fun playthrough, and saw this suggested. It only changes one value in the game's code but it makes for some interesting results. Plus we can play Expert mode because all the enemy grinding disappears, it's a win-win. Hardmode has a lot more drops, but also a lot more limitations...

9:03 This would increase the complexity of the spawners by some measure. In the basic ones, you just have a consumable item that spawns an enemy on use. With them being consumed when said enemy dies, you'd have to keep track of that item for the whole fight, and also make sure the boss died, and didn't despawn. What if the player disconnects mid-fight in multi-player? I'm not saying it's impossible, but certainly a bit more complex. Personally I'd do it with something like an altar, like for golem. You insert the item in the altar, and it does the spawning, "keeping" the item on it, and making it pop out when all players die...

What if they added an NPC or gave an NPC the ability to give back the spawner you just consumed if you fail the fight or disconnect. With multiplayer it can just keep track if the boss died or not. The NPC can just give it back to anyone who goes up to them.

3:14 I used Python to calculate the probability of getting max drops from 100 pirates, and it ends up being 1 in about 2.21569 * 10^8784, which is a *very* big number. The number of atoms in the observable universe, at its max, is 10^82. This is more than a Googol magnitudes greater than that, a number so large it's completely incomprehensible.

@@goldenpig6453 So as long as you avoid forcing it to do fractions, it can handle any sized number by essentially storing a list of digits instead of the binary representation. Internally, it's a lot more nuanced, but it boils down to storing digits and just saying how long the number is. If it had to do a fraction though, it would have lost all the information.

Honestly for someone who keeps saying they're "bad at Terraria" you beat the Destroyer with a pre-hardmode weapon and kind of meh armour.
I feel like maybe you should try the Calamity mod again since it had a recent update that made pretty much all boss spawners (including vanilla ones) non-consumable? It also has an item to let you swap between day and night at will, and a summoning item for Plantera, so pretty much all the waiting between boss fights is removed, which is your biggest issue with vanilla Terraria's difficulty. Especially if you get some other quality of life mods or set up teleporters.

Idea for farming money for the coin gun. Build a simple volcano farm (it's really easy to make dw), sit yourself down next to an NPC, summon a pirate invasion, and continuously sell the mountain of gold furniture they drop. If you haven't made a volcano farm before trust me it's easy. I made one for the first time on my casual playthrough and it was pretty heckin nice.
Since there are 20 gold furniture items, and lets say they each sell for at least 2 Gold each (probably more), then I'd say minimum you'd make 40 gold a pirate. sell at least 50 pirates worth thats 2,000 gold per invasion. About 20 platinum. That's not even considering natural gold drops or other loot like the coin gun itself or cutlass.

it sounds like you would enjoy Fargo's eternity mode, the bosses are tough but they essentially work like you described at 9:04, and you don't have to farm potions or wait for night time. I'm not sure if it would make great content for the channel but it would be cool if you at least tried it out.

Ok so... The uzi is a drop from angry trappers, and a great alternative to the megashark. I used it in expert and it even lasted to Plantera. They spawn in every hardmode and have a 1% chance of drop. With Dream's luck that wouldn't be an issue though.

Here's a challenge: Beating terraria with no weapons(so you can't use items specifically meant for damage and instead have to use pickaxes, mounts, thorns as damage)

For getting common drops and maybe some of the common enemies that don't spawn you could always try rigging up some statues you find to spawn them in, their drop rates for items are lower and usually limited, so those common drops are the rare drops.

Fargo's mod does something similar to his suggestion. If you fight a boss but haven't beaten it on the world before it adds a spawner to your inventory. So boss spawners are effectively infinite until you beat them.

If you worry about running out of something in a bossfight or needing to sell loot from 7nvasions, autopause is extremely helpful, using it to sell all the pirate invasion loot would have given you enough platinumcoins tomake better use of the coin gun

That idea you had about spawners being consumed if you win is actually implemented in Calamity mod or Fargo's mods, I forget which one. If you die to a boss it drops the summon item again, but if you win it doesn't. A really great system, would be awesome in vanilla.

I love that you put Cuphead up with Dark Souls. I mean, to be fair, I’ve never played Dark Souls, but from what I’ve heard it’s MUCH harder. I had enough trouble with Cuphead, so I doubt I’ll try it

The reason calculators are dropping the infinity thing, is that a google (10^100) is a number larger than the theoretical amount of atoms in the entire universe. So functionally infinite at that volume. Also love these hilarious challenge videos, both hard and light (and finding out that a good 'lucky' challenge is harder than it should be with things like pots dropping only gold or many enemies simply not spawning at all).

eh, it's more like computers run into trouble at ~1.8x10^308, because floating point doubles can only store so many bits
The double exponent is several orders of magnitude higher to say the least
Maybe Wolfram Alpha could do it...
E: Wolfram Alpha gives an approximate value of 1 in 10^8784, which is a bit higher than 10^308

You could try farming sand sharks for the megashark if you still need it, as their shark fin drop is rarer than the normal sharks

That’s the order I fought the bosses in during my first run. The Destroyer was the easiest boss for me to defeat because if you build a sky bridge, the Destroyer hangs out below the bridge instead of attacking you. You only have to worry about the probes

One thing you may want to consider for early hardmode if you do any similar challenge - the frost (or forbidden) armors.
They're an upgrade to regular adamantine armor, and give the only set of mixed bonuses in the game. Frost armor buffs both melee and ranged, while forbidden buffs both magic and summon.
Their big downside is that you need to farm ice golems/sand elementals for them, but since they're rare enemies, I think all you'd need in this playthrough is the right weather, and it'd be more than worth it in expert mode.
