I have a 2022 F-350 dually supercab XL 7.3 gas 4x4 4.30 gears, to haul my Adventurer 86fb truck camper. Payload is 6,675 lbs, hauls the camper without suspension mods and power is abundant for any terrain. Really great configuration to haul a truck camper as others have stated. Completely loaded with everything we still (cat scale verified) have 2,400 lbs of payload left.
@@nia6849 no.
Are you getting the really clunky shifts? Exact same load out as you but jesus does the 10 speed just clunk.
@@devonm5037no, I have zero complaints about my 10 speed transmission.
I've wanted a diesel truck for years, but tbh, after looking at all the extra maintenance and running costs, the noise, the emissions BS they keep strapping to those engines, the heavier weight (the 6.7 HO Powerstroke is 400+ lbs heavier than this 7.3 Godzilla), etc, etc, I think I'd rather have the 7.3. The HP and torque numbers paired with 4.30 gears...it'll tow pretty much whatever you want. It got up and moved when you put your foot down (and sounded great doing it), and then got nice and quiet and smooth again when at speed. Not to mention it's $12.5K less than a Powerstroke. I mean, if you've got money to burn or need to tow your house, get the 6.7. It's a great engine. If not, I really like this spec. Maybe in a platinum.
THANK YOU Ben! Thanks for the tour and a special thanks for remembering to show us the payload numbers! It really helps.
Nothing wrong with gas on a dually. I love lariat supercabs, wish the f150 still had that option.
$68k seems like a steal for this when you consider a single-cab, short bed F-150 XLT is $50k.
Insane Ford Ben !! ❤❤
So glad I found this review. Thanks, this configuration is beyond rare where we live. Rare like finding a Pappy Van Winkle 15 year at SRP. This truck’s spec could carry a large truck camper. We’ve been thinking about a truck camper like the Lance 1172 but the larger models like the Lance with dry baths are so heavy when optioned out you’d find that you’re 1,000 lbs or more over a 1-ton diesel crew cab dually’s GVWR. With that weight you need a commercial spec truck like a Ram 5500 to be under the GVWR. The insurance for a commercial truck can easily be 4x that of a non commercial spec F350. We currently have a 2018 Ram 2500 with the 6.7 Cummins and 2,399 lbs of load capacity.
Great build for someone wanting lots of payload with needing a ton of towing power. I bet this could handle one hell of a truck camper
I don't know if people understand this But this 7.3 has as much torque as the old diesel 7.3 and 5.9 With more than twice the hp. And those diesel trucks could haul anything you put behind them.
What a config 😮 I was wondering if you get better turning radius thanks to the super cab but still got the dually compare to a f450
F350 drw with a 7.3 godzilla is so cool.
Perfect truck for a large truck camper.
Beautiful truck ❤
Awesome truck how did the 10 speed shift? I prefer the more reliable 6 speed but unfortunately it's not available
Your background is straight up HARD TRUCK 2!
I think the single wheel F350 7.3 can tow the same, but definitely has far less payload than this beast. For those who’ve driven duallies vs single rear wheel, is wider @$$ on the dually worth the pain for more payload? Personally, I think I would find the increase payload very useful-I hate dragging around a trailer every time I need a load of dirt, or pavers. I agree with others, $68K for a Lariat F350 dually is a steal when you have less capable F150s going for $85K.
To me yes the dually is worth it. You get more side to side stability, plus the added safety of two more weight bearing tires. Plus if you were to put a flatbed on the truck you get more usable width. The side to side stability is huge though if you tow and live somewhere with roads that aren't straight.
Thats got big displacement, 430:1 gears, 10 speed automatic, and it's a dually. Can't say anything bad about it and I own a F350 with a 7.3. Ford has a winner with that engine. It's being used in school busses and everything else.
Imagine if chevy n dodge joined the big displacement group bu bringing back the gas 454 and the 440
@@blackice7408 They already did did you must not know about the GM Vortec 8.1 & Chryslers idea of a big block gas truck motor was the 8.0 V10
Would be nice with the Lariat Single Rear Wheel.
I would probably choose that engine in an f250 but not that setup. It really doesn’t make sense. You buy a dually to tow really heavy trailers. A diesel is a no brainer
There's nothing wrong with the gas engine unless your towing a lot of weight all the time , then get a diesel. But if payload is your thing , you can't beat this truck. Your payload is much less with a diesel.plus the diesel is 10,000 dollars more
How does this Ford match up to the ram 3500 dually with the larmie package Ben.
Both nice, ram still feels more upscale
Is that Ram a gas engine?
6.4 hemi is underwhelming to the 7.3
@@thankyou9085 7.3 is a LEGEND
if i were to apply the "grower vs shower" method, this truck would take 1st place for the '"shower"
Can u find this configuration in a 450, supercab lariat or higher
You can in a cab chassis but not the pickup.
europeans if they tow a 2500lbs camper: 1.0 engine compact hatchback
americans if they tow a 2500 lbs camper: this
I like it
Have to find a dually with 6.8 and compare
I saw one, 2 weeks ago, went back to test drive it and it was gone.
With a truck camper.
2023 Ford F-350 Super Duty Dually Lariat 7.3L Godzilla V8 10-Speed Automatic 75th Anniversary Edition Extended Cab 4X4!
I had no idea ford still make the 7.3
@@amaristrickland1719 they’ve only made it for 6 years
Seriously, how did you know i skipped ahead? Lol
It was you 🫵😂
Don’t make fun of short people!!😂 I used to be 5’9 1/4 but not any more!!😂
I’m 6’9 420lbs
I used to be only 2mm big but I grew up to be 3’2 and then 12’11 1766kg
For a guy who wants a dually total all around comfort.
❤
😮😮😮
I pull a gooseneck with my 7.3 gas
Slide in camper
Not a fan of the side step, and why a gas engine on a dually. Ford needs a heads up display
Gas in a dually you get a lot more payload. And these trucks have heads up displays as an option…
Some companies just do short little day trips around town pulling an Excavator or something 15,000 and under. Like Plumbers. Way cheaper if you want to buy a fleet of 5-10 in gas vs diesel.
Diesels of today are a joke ,way to much emissions, I work on that stuff on the daily so it's a gas for me
❤❤❤😂
I will not get any 7.3 Godzilla engine this is garbage I wonder when Ford will fix that issue i stick to 6.8 gas or 6.7 power stroke diesel
Troll much? Let’s see what you drive Bubba
@@freedomisntfree_44 why’s he a troll? He’s absolutely correct, the 7.3 has numerous issues and the lawsuits are pouring in.
@@BigMikeRobinsonFJB lifter lawsuit belongs to gm. The main ones failing in fords side are in rvs and it’s few engines that have. The 6.8 is the same motor as the 7.3 just destroyed btw geniuses
@@BigMikeRobinsonFJB you a dam lie, I know a friend who has a small business and he has 4 of them Ford trucks with the Godzilla engine, he been working them trucks hard for 2 years and only thing he had an issue with was the seats, it wears the tires out quick , other than that he said that's a good decision he made giving it a try. You came here to hate on a material item 🤦♂️
@@BruceDragon-sf1tr not hating at all. Just stating a fact. And I hope Ford can resolve the issues, they’ve had a ton lately.
I don’t even understand a gas engine in a dually
Makes sense if you are just hauling not towing, like a camper in the bed. Gas will give higher payload. Also if idleing a lot
You didn’t even finish video before commenting. 100% troll.
Perfect truck for a truck camper...massive payload and no worries about over regulated modern day crap diesel engine.
@@agentcarder ok I didn’t know that about the payload but a diesel can idle 4x longer than a gas on the same quantity
@@Mapdotnowhere idling in a diesel is what causes emission system issues. Truth is emissions killed diesels, unless you are towing over 15000 pounds daily, and only do high way driving the gas makes more sense to buy.
STOP talking when driving so we can hear the vehicle. You really really need to chill and see a doctor about slowing down. Run on speaking is a spectrum sign. You will feel much better after.
Watch a different video
Previous to the 7.3 powerstroke and cummins 5.9, a big block gasser was WAYYYYY more common inna dually then a deisel as the ford and gm IDI deisels were only preferred due to deisel fuel was cheap AF and fuel consumption was much HOWEVER if you wanted tow power you went big block gasser and the deisels where a joke in power
