I love how Conan the Barbarian manages to be an awesome fantasy action movie while deviating from the original story.
This Conan is more like Kull in terms of his backstory, yet he's still able to be respectful of the vision of Robert E. Howard.
Watching this as an adult, I realize how much this movie is pure D&D. We have a barbarian, a rogue archer, and a fighter breaking breaking into the evil fortress because a king sent them on a quest to rescue his daughter from an evil wizard.
Tell me that's not D&D

LOVE this scene...Subotai n Alera knew Conan so well that their convo was really a way to aim direction at Conan...cause they knew him well enough to know it would have gone left of they tried preaching to him.

You have to admit that Thulsa knew how to party!
He's sort of a prehistoric Rick James.
Which proved to be his undoing in the end.
He got way too soft, lost the edge.
Conan, on the other hand, kept his edge sharp.
I will never tire of the music in this scene. Conan was an underrated movie, it's actually really good.
The film lives less from acting and more from images and music. And the fact that Arnold's acting sometimes seems a bit wooden is because he was still very inexperienced as an actor at the time. But he became friends with James Earl Jones, who plays Thulsa Doom, and he gave Arnold lessons to improve his acting, which is very noticeable in later films. In return, Arnold helped Jones train his body.
That was one wicked pang of nostalgia just hit me.
The Temple of Set 🐍🐍scenes were like a gallery of Frazetta paintings🐯 come to life. ⚔🛡

@1:06 this is a very brief, but very telling scene. The shaman knew what was really up. He didn't know the specifics, but he knew Conan was about to start some shit.

I think that silent pause is Conan's way of saying "Thank you for bringing me back from the dead."

Truly regettable Arnold did NOT make 3rd series. I know Preditor was good but he and produsoer still could have made. In fact, Arnond is still and still can do most of acting, NOT like ready to die actors just show up and barely moving so easy stuffs, but all the moving stunds are done by youngster like Lee Van Cliff, Joey McCresa sat in a hours, just sold film, but he did not anything except showing his body sat in horse, I guess he could not even walk!
