I know you probably won't read this, but I just wanted to thank you, Alex. I started watching you three years ago. I liked working on vintage through-hole stuff but couldn't do SMD to save my life. Watching you made me start taking an interest in developing the skill. A few years ago I ordered from you some pad strips, UV resin, and a few other things to repair a video card. I did it, but it took weeks of practice to be confident enough to try to mess with an expensive video card. Fast forward to today and I now have a job at a big public university, fixing instruments in their chemistry department. I just saved a $40,000 instrument control board, using pad strips and UV resin. Unfortunately, I didn't order these from you (government rules and whatnot), but it made me think that I should drop you a line. Thank you for the inspiration that's lead me to a better career. Love from TX.
@@ortzinator I volunteered to work on damaged stuff in my previous position, and gained a reputation of being willing to at least try to fix stuff. Even if I was able to fix 50% of what I attempted, it still saved the department thousands of dollars. Then when I made the leap to this position, I had references who knew what I could do.
I think a lot of people really underestimate big bosses skills. The ability to take apart so many electronic devices quickly without breaking them and then putting them all back together correctly is not easy.
The time when power is on I'm kinda excited and when it's booted I nearly jump. Thank you for another knowledge, and thank you Big Boss for your magic hand.
I wish this too. I sent a laptop in to a place in London, didn't hear anything for ages, chased them up, said they'd call back with a quote for the repair, never heard from them again. Number no longer in service :(
Tech repair here with perfect skills from and based in Morocco, I've been trying to move to the UK for work, unfortunately couldn't find any joob offer with a sponsor 😢
I envy your ability to reach down and grab/hold a chip in one motion without shaking too much and grabbing that chip so solidly. I still struggle to grab onto a chip that I just placed without disturbing its position and having to realign it.
MSI are one of the few manufacturers that have the EC firmware downloadable from their site, but in many cases EC firmware can be programmed though the keyboard connector if you find your in a tough spot and out of options, but obviously you have to have the firmware and not every manufacturer makes it available.

I had a SMD component go flying from my tweezers tonight, and off to the 9th dimension. I instantly thought of you! Appreciate you and Big Boss putting out great content.
Hi. I watch Your videos for a long time. And I can tell, U are 95% specialist and 99% good person. I would come for a coffeebreak on friday, but its more than 10k km...
I appreciate your lines: Anything in the world 🌎 is fixable if you want to dedicate the time ,youd't care about practicality, you don't care if the repair is economical or not from the business point if view then off course Anything in the world is fixable, we give device our 100 % effort within allocated for that device and if we're able to fix it we get paid the big amount. 👍 👌
Good job. Some super io chips don't need programming. Many sellers you buy it from will make you aware first if it does or not, as some have it written clearly in their description
I am interested in purchasing a hot tweezers soldering station. Some "American" brands that are made in other countries are much too expensive. The magic hands of Big Boss! Congratulations on the win and thanks for the updated video.
Nice. I have a super io chip from China on it's way for a t480s. Heard they need to be programmed. Seeing this work (even for a different brand and model) is giving me hope.
I have a chinese unbranded laptop that is not fixable. I am using its board to learn and practice BGA soldering. Every chip on the board has a white rectangular silkscreen marking as to where that chip belongs and what orientation, too.
I wish I could order things like the wipes and pads, and maybe even the ports binder from your site for use in my shop, but at over $80 in shipping for less than $100 in materials... (I live in Ontario, Canada) I love your microscope Alex, so maybe when my business has survived its first year, I'll consider upgrading my microscope from your website. Thank you for all the amazing content! It has been extraordinarily important in the development and confidence in my ability to micro solder, and even just basic troubleshooting. An amusing side tidbit, when I watched my first video of yours, I thought to myself, gosh! This guy sound perpetually angry! I can't watch this long term. Then I didn't watch another video of yours for maybe a month. The next video of yours I watched was another valuable video that solved a problem I was having, I can't remember what the issue was. Then I saw another, and another, and got used to you and realized you weren't perpetually angry lol, then I subscribed with notifications on. I can't explain why I felt that you sounded angry, ya just did to my ears. Thank you again! I've learned so much
yah man, shipping to canada in insane, there are some books on ebay $10 with $30 shipping. Or small things, even our inter province shipping is absolutely nuts.
Is there a situation where just using the ring light would benefit not using the anti-glare light? Another great video. Love your work. Thanks for your help and excellent advice.
Can you make your store better gave up looking for Flux. So replaceables at the top flix wick chips and equipment at the bottom. Or I can't buy here thing we use all the time at the top please
big boss is Mabrook (blessed in arabic) , Gaming laptops are expensive but they are Fragile ,take care of your device don't stress it too much , turn it off for a few hours between time you're using it ,it will last way longer than they want it to last.Specially the new ones are really expensive but built so cheaply .
Great Job Alex. You are very good. Big boss looks great. Just want to know if you repair laptop GPUs too. I have and acer predator helios 300 (rtx 2060) with bad memory bank.
Big Boss has healing hands! Memo to Alex: Big Boss deserves a new office/workshop chair! Please! Remember the story about the cobbler's children's shoes!😁
I was walking while watching this video and i literally stopped when you tapped the chip to settle in place. Like if I move you wont be able to solder it 😂😂😂
Thanks boss you are Genius . I have learned alot of things from you. Can you please and another window on screen of you multimeter by this window we will learn more in detail thanks . Respect from italy
This is how a business should be conducted: when a customer comes in and expects you to work on their device for free, fully aware that there's a 50/50 chance, the customer wants to take advantage of you and expects no fee for a 'diagnostics.' Obviously, as a shop, you need to be upfront about this prior to working on the device.

That's really cool. I'm curious how you got the job? How do you show your skills?

@@An_Onionwow that's awesome ❤
Big boss looks great, he looks very healthy and energetic in this video. Its good to see him like this.
He is like those unaging grandpas that are tough
Prolly just came back from vacation ;)
But, Big Boss deserves a new chair :-)

Final boss😅

I so wish we had Alex and big boss here in the UK. You guys are just amazing and it's always a pleasure to watch your repair videos.

@@CayenneS-yq7is it's a niche job. Not many on the high street. All self employed people. No large shops do this .
I agree. There is nowhere decent for really high end fixes needing high levels of skills. There is no ALEX in the UK yet:)
The customer took a gamble and this time it payed off. Glad to see it was a successful fix.
I envy your ability to reach down and grab/hold a chip in one motion without shaking too much and grabbing that chip so solidly. I still struggle to grab onto a chip that I just placed without disturbing its position and having to realign it.
Me too! Under my microscope, I shake like I'm having a seizure, compared to Alex!
@jimhall9360 it is honestly mostly resting hand properly. Find a good position

Toshiba is making their evil laugh by reading your comment.
My old MSI board EC chip had external eeprom chip which holds fw for EC so you could flash it easily.

Thumbs up for Big Boss and his magic hands!
Better than a Netflix series! Good job master 👏👏👏
What you are doing is a very skilled job that needs lots of experience. So you cant charge too much.
Alex, Big Boss & customer, I'm happy for all 3 of you! Alex & Big Boss, I'm just a hobbyist, but I'm amazed at and appreciate your abilities!
