Well done sir!! Same exact issue. No defrost! Then...used your described sequence and voila! defrosting! Same sequence to go back to cabin air!! Thank you, Thank you! You saved me from spending money and time before it was needed!!!
I’ve done a lot of digging around on this and You my friend are the Man!! Well done and thanks you saved me hours of work. I will fix when time is available Thanks again
Just purchased my dodge 2004 couldn't get it to switch to defrost. I Shut blower motor off switched to defrost no problem. You saved me alot of time. I was ready to tear the dash apart. Vacume lines were all good couldn't figure it out. Thank you
I’m going to give this a shot hopefully it works. I have replaced the blend door and two of the 4 actuators with no luck. And the stupid Ac/heat control knob. Good video thanks for the info
Thanks buddy!, makes sense, recently replaced my heater core. The door on the fan moter did look bad. Seen a tip to zip tie it to the grating if it cant be replaced.
Thats cool, I shut off the fan, moved the switch all the Way back and forth and just like that when I turned the fan on it was working on defrost, thanx it was a big help!
I found that all my blend doors were all stripped. Tore out the cowl, replaced heater core, evaporator and installed the aluminum blend doors on my 2004. PITA. It took exactly 8 hours just like the book said. But now it’s done.
My 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 will not "switch to defrost" as well. The solution was to turn down the fan speed before moving the heater system door from vent to Defrost. It's weird but works.
What I also found is if your blower fan and resistor pack are in poor shape then it also has issues. I replaced both and then it worked again. The fan was original 20 years old and when I turned it by hand it was tough so the bearings must have been shot.
So is the door/shaft going bad or your actuator? I think I have exactly the same thing going on, but is it the door and shaft that need to be replaced because of the pressure or something else?
Thats the wrong door the door your looking for is under that one right behind that metal panel below the mode door switch your pointing at. The one you pointed at controls dash vents on and off
Come summer again I'm replacing everything including the heater core and wht not under the dash, this will be a one time deal hopefully those pesky gremlins once you fix something everything else will start breaking
Make sure you use the aftermarket doors such as the billet aluminum ones made by Blend Door USA or the steel ones made by Doorman. The OEM doors are plastic andwill just break again. I plan to rebuild the entire HVAC module as well this summer.
@@user-gq2vn1xj2r do you have a website to purchase these items? About a year ago I came across a UA-cam page that showed how to replace all the doors & actuators. Had a link on there to buy the parts. Now I can't find it

Mine did this for years. Now it wont switch no matter what. Wondering which door to rip out so air just comes out everywhere ha
This has helped a lot, I've noticed that the vents are all I get, i watched this video and turned the fan off and the defrost worked afterwards

Thanks for the video. It help fix my problems.
Hey at least I can get some defrost in the mean time. Thank you sir.
If you look up through the floor vent, you can see a mode door. Would you push the door up or pull it down to switch it to defrost?
Thank you. It helped my problem. God bless.

You can actually fix that blend door reaching up through the blower motor once its removed.
On a 08??
A beautiful endorsment for american cars.
So helpful thank you but damn that’s a lot to do
With all the people having problems with the samething, you would think dodge would have a recall on their trucks also drivers seat

great video sir!
The rod on my truck just keeps spinning.. does that mean the flap is broken?
