Pre-watch comment I thought the in-house game store was a neat little feature for little games like Super Meat Boy or Bridge Constructor. (Hell even to just have it on another platform. Like, I bought INSIDE on there because I already had it on steam and wanted to support the devs further) It's a shame discord didn't partner with those devs to distribute indie stuff. Little games to hop onto when bored (like how discord has activities for voice calls now) fit discord perfectly, and the indie devs could get around steam's massive cut of sales.
it's a safety net tho, everyone that tries to go under it(discord, epic games, so on) ends up losing a lot of money while steam is so high up they could even build their on console(best part is steam deck is arch based)
for real, that seems like the best thing ever i'm sad there isn't a way to track all of your games playtime in 1 place even if steam tries to but fails (ex minecraft launcher)
The weird thing about the Discord Game Store, is that even if you received a refund for the Discord Developer License, your app still exists on discord, and all the functionality, such as uploading your game files (including creating branches and SKUs), modifying the store page, and things like that, all still exist, even if you've never actually published your game on the Discord Store. I really liked the discord game store, because I could just give people in my server a specific role and they'd get free access to the game I was developing, and you still somewhat can do that (with a somewhat added security risk).
