I'm pretty sure Amma took ecstasy/MDMA, not acid lol but I think she reacted like that because she likes attention. She saw Camille with the scars on her body earlier in this episode and decided to act out like her. Also like when Camille was with Dick a couple of episodes ago and Amma was getting aggressive with her, she was doing that because she was upset because Camille wasn't paying attention to her. She's very spoiled.

You guys should focuse more on the relationship between the woman in the show instead of the who's the killer ( that's why there isn't much progress in the episode to find out who's the killer) the show is more about the generational trauma between the grandma, the mother and the 3 daughters that resulted in their mental illnesses the cycle of abuse and violence

Thank you for these reactions! They have been fun to watch. This show is great. I have been trying to work myself up to the book but I'm a bit hesitant because I can already imagine how much more disturbing the story will be in book form 😅😅
This might be a bit of a random suggestion, but since you seem to like the murder mystery, I would recommend the tv show The Killing if you haven't seen it yet. The first two seasons especially - they are both focused on a single murder case. It has lots of twists and turns and it's fun to speculate while watching. The acting is great too, with Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman as the leads. It's an older show and I'm not sure how it would be for views etc. but the show is worth checking out on your own as well if you don't want to do reactions to it
I just started the book today. I'm eager to get more into it to see the similarities and differences.

I watched this show when it came out, but I don't remember who the killer is or even if we ever find out. Is Preaker Adora's maiden name? That would explain Adora not wanting to talk about Camille's father, if she had her "out of wedlock". It would have been a big deal in that kind of town.
Camille said in the first episode that Adora married out of her maiden name so yes Preaker is Adoras maiden name

I think Amma is aged up a bit for the show! I think she's actually 15/16 in the show, whereas in the book she was like 13 I think (it's been awhile since I've read it)

I feel you completely. I’m from the South in the US so I am used to seeing some places with the confederate flags and according to people I grew up around it’s because of the history and to show the federal government that they don’t mind breaking away if they’re pushed too far. They won’t survive on their own without the US military but yeah.

I think Bob's wife leaving and John's relationship with his gf can be explained by the trauma they've all experienced. I don't even want to know what losing a child must be like. It's possible the mom couldn't deal with the loss and left. John is similarly not dealing with his sister's death well. It also doesn't help that his gf seems to be quite controlling.
Guys why so much confusion about the surname 😂😂😂. You do know some women keep their family's surname right especially if the name is important to a business or already used as a scientist for publication prior to marriage or even just cause they want to.

There’s just something so uncanny valley about this town isn’t there? Everything and everyone feels just a bit off.
Amma mimics people around her or acts out depending on what will get her the most attention or the reactions she wants. Especially with Camille and their mother.
Preaker was Adora’s maiden name before she married Alan. She comes from old money, the property belongs to her family.
