    I've seen many videos but I only see an ideal method on this video. One of the best, if not the besst videos on UA-cam, on sharpening scissors, on a real professional level.

    I found one of these machines thrown out in the garbage. Now I’m watching this video and the way you drop it, makes me want to go and study the history of scissors very very engaging. You are a natural teacher now I’m going to give this a swing, where is the best place to pick up replacement parts? I have the standard model.

    Do you not have to reconvex every time you sharpen? I noticed you only performed 1 pass @45°; you didn't increase by 5° for 2 more passes.

    Does honing process has to be the last step of could it be done before the burring process? I have noticed some other video had the honing process before and wondering is it a recommended method? Thanks.

    Hi
    I have watched you video and I have just bought this machine I love it and have just started to practice in your video your sharpening a pair of convex beauty Shears I thought you needed the convexing clamp?
    Your advice would be great
    Regards
    John

    • @wolffindustries
      @wolffindustries  4 роки тому +2

      Hey John, you technically don't need the convexing clamp and can convex with the standard clamp but it is a much harder and longer process. The convexing clamp makes it easier to get the graduations of the angles without having to keep changing the angle on the upright bar of the standard clamp. If you are planning on doing convex shears, we definitely recommend the convexing clamp cause it will speed up the process a ton and make it easier.

      @@wolffindustries Hi
      I noticed that you only made one pass on these convex shears and at 45 degrees I thought you needed to make a few passes at 3 or 4 different degrees 45 degrees up to 55 degrees or is this not the case can you explain please
      Kind regards
      John

    IS IT SHARP TOOLS CARVING WOOD

    • @wolffindustries
      @wolffindustries  6 років тому +1

      It will sharpen bevel edge tools. It is made to sharpen scissors, but can sharpen things like chisels. We would recommend the Twice as Sharp for something like that instead of this Ookami Gold. This machine is designed more for barber and beauty shears.

      Can you go into detail about the different machines please? What's the difference between the green and the red machine what exactly is the Ookami and how it differs from the industrial or standard model.

    • @wolffindustries
      @wolffindustries  6 років тому +1

      We have a video dropping in a few days that is a quick overview of the differences between the Standard, Industrial, and Professional Twice as Sharp® but the only difference is the honing wheel that is included with the machine. They vary in grit and polish type. Standard for home use scissors, Industrial for industrial scissors that need to be sharpened quickly without the need for a cosmetic edge, and the Professional for a high shiny polish on the edge. This page goes into more detail between the three models: goo.gl/uAuFUa
      The Ookami Gold® uses the Twice as Sharp® motor but uses a diamond sharpening wheel and a polishing wheel. This polishing wheel has no abrasive in it so you have to apply a high grit diamond paste to the wheel for buffing. This would be used on high end barber, beauty, and grooming shears. More info on the Ookami: goo.gl/XJZPaQ

    • @wolffindustries
      @wolffindustries  6 років тому +1

      The Green/Teal machine is our previous model. We upgraded the Twice as Sharp® motors in 2015 to the Red ones. The newer Red ones sit a little higher, have a riser block to help keep the arm more stable, and has dust collection ports on the back.

      Wolff Industries Inc. Thank you that was informative, however I am new to sharpening hope that doesn't make you biased of me but just wondering is there any classes I can take to enhance my skills? I'm just curious would you suggest having all three machines due to the various styles of shears and scissors.

      Using the convex clamp

    • @wolffindustries
      @wolffindustries  3 роки тому +1

      @@erichefley847 Yes, you can use the convex clamp on the red Twice as Sharp. If using on convex beauty shears, we recommend the diamond wheel and Ookami polishing wheel/compound. The motor, RPMs, etc are the same between the Twice as Sharp and Ookami Gold machines, it's just the wheels that make the difference

    Do you not teach to oil the pivot area?

    • @wolffindustries
      @wolffindustries  Рік тому

      We recommend a wax-based lubricant. Oil will trap hair clippings in the pivot area. An alcohol suspended wax lubricant will wash out the hair clippings and leave the wax behind as the alcohol evaporates and will lubricate the pivot area.
