Don’t feel like your Stone Ocean rating is bad! I absolutely adore Stone Ocean. I actually love this part so much and upon my whole series rewatch and reread, it also places third place overall. The art style here was so beautiful, and the stands are so epic. Plus, the side characters and the villains are so amazing!
@@Stolenbysandw908, hell no, I love everything about part 2. Pillarmens, especially Wammu, Lisa Lisa, Caesar, hamon training on island, the fact that nazi was on the good side is bizzare too. And for me this part visually looks better than all the others
I think I have a similar list but I think I'd swap part 8 with part 4 or 5, it was great to see you're Jojo progression as a Jojo fan glad you gave the series a chance and you truly enjoyed it.
Another Jolyne enjoyer, a man of culture I see. It's surprising ti see Stone Ocean going past number 5 in any of these lists, so for that, I'll subscribe. Good video.
Jojolion was the part where I started reading while the manga was still going so I will admit I'm a little nostalgic about it but I'll come back and give my unbasis opinion on it later BRB 😅
respect this ranking. I love the honest criticism and explanation for each part. Personally, I love contemplating about each part and switching rankings every 5 seconds, but each time I have thought about it had only made more sense to have Part 6 higher up. Jolyne is the best JoJo for me personally - as a character, a stand user, and as a protagonist - and despite the craziness of the plot and the battles in part 6 I loved the over-arching themes of part 6. Don't get me wrong, I equally loved the D'arby brothers battles, Giorno as a character, Kira's whole kawajiri & btd arcs, and the entirety of Part 7. But, for me personally, part 6 will take the crown always despite its many flaws. Each part excels in a specific trope that the other parts may not exactly have a great emphasis on. Purely from a fun aspect, it's parts 2,3 and 5 for me for top 3 (in no particular order tho). Story/Character-wise it would be Part 7>6>4. Each part is special in one or more ways than the rest, and that's what makes it so difficult to rank jojo parts for me. In fact, ranking them is a crime as it tends to imply some are objectively better than others. So, I really loved that you also mentioned ratings for each part rather, which makes the ranking process much more fair imo. Haven't gotten to Part 8 yet, but I can already tell from the first few chapters it's gonna be a wild one- even by jojo standards.
Ok but now read every canon jojo spin offs, which include Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe 12 chapters, Deadman's question and Rohan at the Louvre. And then you can move to non-canon spin off manga and light novel (Over heaven is my favorite). Btw, my ranking is: 1. Steel ball run 2. Jojolion 3. Stone ocean 4. Diamond is Unbreakable 5. Stardust Crusaders 6. Jojolands (so far) 7. Golden Wind 8. Phantom Blood 9. Battle Tendency (we are so different lol) (Nice edit!)
Im a bit confused on qhat exactly you didn’t like about the ending of part 8? The end wasn’t really presenting itself as a big conclusion and answer to one big mastery. There are mysteries in Jojolion but the biggest one is solved half way through the part (who Gappy is) and the rest of the story is Gappy accepting it. The other mysteries are not meant to build to a big mystery at the end but keep the reader and characters engaged and moving forward. The story of Jojolion isn’t about solving a mystery its about breaking a curse. The final fight and chapters are some of the best in the series and masterfully wrap up all the themes of the story. What exactly wasn't good about it?
It’s not that I didn’t like it, because if u watch my video on part 8 I talk about all the good parts, it’s just a little forgettable to me when compared to every other part, besides maybe part 2’s ending
My ranking :) 1:Jojolion 2:Steel ball run 3:Vento Aureo 4:Stone Ocean 5:Diamond is unbreakable 6:Stardust crusaders 7:Battle tendancy (Be fr, you dont like part 2, you just like Joseph) 8:Phantom Blood
Personal ranking: P2: the humour of joseph didn't really affected me (weirdly it affected me much more on P3) so i was a little bored but it wasn't hard to watch P3: just too long but the Darby (sorry if it's badly written) brothers episode was amazing P1: i dont know why so many people find it boring or dont want to watch it because it's not a masterpiece but it solide and fast to watch P4:now we are at the amazing parts and the P4 is awesome but nothing really took me by the heart so its here P6 : jolyne is da best(seriously she carried hard this part(it wasn't bad anyway but like damn is she da best)) P5 and P8: they are to different to put one or the other above. For P5 the most common critic is that giorno is not interesting but for me he was so... The part had no real problem for me and im sooooo sad we didn't se more narancia fight because he is my absolute favorite P5 character and for part 8, my favorite man jojo and the third best woman of the entire franchise carried a lot (yeah I prefered gappy than johnny) but awesome beginning, awesome pacing and awesome mystery... Just a disapointing villan because we dont even really know is objectives (probably money) P7: ........ DOJYAAA~~~N Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
I agree about part 8's ending, tooru was such a fumble that appeared out of nowhere, his stand has more personality than him and his motivations are not explored. It is still my favorite part, i love how bizarre it is What do you think about part 9 so far?
ok man as an invested jojo lover and someone who espects the opinion of other this must be the single worst rating of jojo parts in the history of humanity very and i mean very respectfully considering the work u put into this
@@Stolenbysandw908 well, Joseph is a major part of part 2. I don't see why this has to be a distinction. I like Part 2 BECAUSE of Joseph, but that doesn't mean I don't like Part 2. That logic is just... baffling.
I swear, the entire back half of the tooru fight I was going "yeah and then once tooru's beaten, jobin's gonna get up and duke it out with gappy in one final showdown" and then that never happened. I fucking love jojolion, being a jojolion fan is suffering.
I really don’t understand the recent love Stone Ocean is getting besides people just being contrarians. Like, yeah, personal taste and all that but in a sense of how well a story is written it is… not good. Like, the characters are all bad except for Jolyne and Jotaro, the plot is terrible, the stands are god awful, it constantly ruins its own themes that it tries to set up, it’s just genuinely a terrible part.
That’s what’s so good about this series, each person likes the different parts for their own reason, I loved the animation and the stands, and I thought it had arguably the best ending to a part, but I also can’t knock anyone for not liking it
@ Right, I understand that, but subjective taste is different from objective quality. It just feels like people give so much more leeway to part 6 than any other part because they know it’s bad.
Interesting how different the opinions on fav jojo part are based off where you're coming from. Americans are almost universally biased towards Steel Ball Run while in Japan it had a mixed reception and wasn't popular. Every time I see a jojo merch in Japan it's almost always part 3, 4 or 5 related and never part 7 related. I'm not american and I had a very rough time going through Part 7 because was bored to death, just like many people were with jojolion. Basically it was part 3 all over again but now we are stuck in the desert arc for the whole series, and sometimes there were horses. The Gyro was the saving grace but the rest of the characters all were very forgettable. And the fact that Araki's art style was still good in part 7 before turning into the generic "every character is britney spears in a different wig" for part 8 onwards. Yeah, it was detailed but it was very same-y and I don't like how all the characters basically all have the same "loose arms ass to the side" uninspiring pose. Part 7 felt like Araki wanted to move on from Jojo to create something new but couldn't help it and ended up doing jojo again so he was back on rails. At least Part 3 had a very strong cast with bright personalities and you could enjoy watching them interact in any random situation so it alone saved the whole villain of the week formula repetition. Part 7 on the other hand, aside from Gyro, had cardboard cutouts instead of characters and I couldn't wait for it to end sooner while reading it. No wonder Gyro felt like the main character while Johnny felt like some tame jobro. Funny Valentine, aside from a cool stand, was a pretty weak villain to me. We got some dollar store version of Dio here too. And the rest of the cast I can't even remember of the top of my head because they were all so insignificant. Find all the seven dragon corpse parts, summon Shen Jesus and make a wish. I wish Bulma was there to see it. Part 8 onwards altogether feel like fan made jojo manga. It's like as if Araki either lost interest and passion for his creation, or he's simply chilling somewhere on Hawaii while his editors/disciples write Part 8 onwards for him. Before that we had a good fare of weird but likeable characters. But here everyone is weird/creepy/unlikable. And the formula is just repeating the old things but with unlikable fashion show rejects. I get the same vibes from later jojo parts like the Tales from Earthsea movie which was directed by Miyazaki's son. Like it's kinda Miyazaki-ish, but then again not really. To me jojo ended on part 6 and I take part 7 on as entirely different series, even despite that weird part 8 tie in..
how does part 7 have insignificant cast if it has the biggest amount of reappearing characters in the story meaning it has the biggest amount of significant characters among all jojo parts
i think what makes jolyne so special is that she’s the first jojo protag with really major character development
Can't wait for Part 9 to finish and hear your overall thoughts on it.
in like 13 years
I completely agree with your part 2 ranking, probably the most fun and entertaining part of the series and it really sold me to keep watching the show
