We had plenty and they took all the leftovers too so I figured about the same. Of course they didn’t have any butter in them haha. Julia Child would have been very proud of me. ❤
Caught sight of a winter crow at Popeyes today with a happy treat in his mouth. It gave me so much joy that my grandson spotted him. I have veered off my usual and pulled my Christmas Just Cross Stitch out and had a blast marking really nice patterns. Now I am stitching them. Lennie, who will get back to Autumn Town soon! Thanks, ladies! I told people when my kids were little I went from stitching to collecting patterns.
What a joy it was to turn on the computer and find your flosstube to keep me company while tending to the morning kitchen drudgery. I so enjoy you two! Thank you for your efforts and terrible jokes!
OMG! Roberta and Linny! I can’t believe what you said about Winter crows! I would never picture those birds with you lovely gals. You are both beautiful, elegant swans. Love your stories, chitchat and especially your stitching.
So true! I've taken classes where the teacher has been adamant about doing things a specific way and I've learned there is just no one right way for almost everything.
Another fantastic video, ladies! Love Winter Crows❤️ Linnie, you mentioned P Buckley Moss patterns, so I wanted to share that I had the pleasure of meeting her in September at her distribution center in Mathews County, VA, where her distribution center is, & she is such a fun, interesting person to talk with. One of her daughters is a daily stitcher & another manages the distribution center. Great women! I have some of the older cross stitch patterns that are hand drawn, but I told her to please talk her daughter into producing new patterns😉 Also, today, 11/30, we have a new needleworks shop opening in Williamsburg, VA, so maybe there’ll be some future retreats🎉 Hope you both have a fabulous week of stitching & fun. Thanks so much for sharing ❤️🪡🧵❤️
Oh what a special treat to meet her in person! We had a local shop that had a gallery of her prints and they were just out of my price range at the time, but always loved them. So original and sweet! I heard about the new shop and am so excited to hear more! Please do let me know if you find out they will be hosting a retreat!
Hi Susan. Thank you so much for sharing. She came to Kansas City a few years again and she signed all my cross stitch pieces I had done. I live her art and have a few prints also. Thank for joining me in another fun textile. I hope her daughter does create more that would be a whole new insurrection of stitchers I’m sure. Have a great two weeks. ❤❤
Not a new subscriber but chuckle every time you say what SABLE stands for. I was an avid stitcher back in the 80s/90s and gave it up when my daughter was born. Started back up in March 2023 and in 9 months definitely have a stash accumulated beyond life expectancy! Love your videos.
You made this on my Birthday!? 😮 Waow!!! Thank you sweet Roberta & Linnie. I'm watching this while stitching on a night home from work for a much needed rest. Ohhhh I'm so chuffed. I love you ladies So sew much. Thank you Thank you. 💖
Another great episode. You ladies always crack me up. The winter crows comment was the highlight of the episode, sorry Linnie. I do love the jokes though. You show such great projects and share so much information. Always a delight spending time with you.
Everything is better with a friend. My daughter is a very prolific quilter. Much better than me in ways, but does not like to do the handwork I love. Too slow for her, but definitely my comfort zone. Winter Crows looks lovely.
Y’all are right on how charts have progressed through the years! I started in the 70s. It was the word Welcome and a little house in a wooden hoop. Now they can look like a painting! Love the winter crow. I haven’t seen that one! Surprise lol Enjoyed ladies. A girlfriend and I are going to our first retreat the end of January in Ft Walton Beach Fla. We are so excited. Finally found one kinda close to us. Happy Stitching
Thanks for the great episode. Loved the tips, Sarah Allen, and (as always) Linnie's jokes. FYI--Since Owl Forest Embroidery is a Russian designer/company, they're subject to trade restrictions due to the war with Ukraine. Their threads/products are currently unavailable unless they've managed a workaround through a third party.
Always a great time with you both! Mrs. Linnie, neither my mother or my mother-in-law do any needlework. Wishing one of them would as I love quilting and cross stitching. To top it off I was blessed with only boys. lol Maybe in the future I might have a daughter-in-law that loves needlework. Hugs!
That’s what I’m hoping. I did teach my third grandson to use a sewing machine. I gave him my old brother and purchased a singer. He even named them. His is a Betty and mine is a Sally. He took what we use the call home economics in school and he made a pillow duffel bag an apron and stuffed doll to give to children in an hospital. he was the only one who could thread a needle. Girls thought he was cool. So far no needle work yet. I hope you think this is funny but he called cross stitch crotch stitch until i immediately corrected him Boys!!!! Haha😂.
So far my daughter-in-laws are not needlework enthusiasts, but hoping Clara will have an interest. So far she has been excited to do little stitching projects with me.
I sent an email of some different ways to use variegated floss. I also use longer lengths of floss, if need be I add a thread conditioner or wax, drop my needle, if those don't work I railroad the next few stitches and then I'm good to go. 👍 I've been stitching since the mid 1970's and love all the new items, tools, gadgets, bling ++++ Fun Video.
I enjoyed your sharing of stories from back in the day. I started stitching in the early 1980’s. I remember P Buckley Moss. I didn’t stitch any of those patterns but I stitched plenty of other designers. I stitched many Pat and Gloria designs, Dale Burdett designs, and Alma Lynn patterns. In fact I ordered something from Alma Lynn and she actually wrote me a very nice note to go with the pattern. I remember Paula Vaughn designs although I don’t believe I stitched any by her but I had her patterns. I know there were others but I don’t remember them. I have a lot of ornaments from back in the day that go on my cross stitch Christmas. I also stitched some fall and Halloween Mill Hill ornaments from back in the day. At that time they were stitched entirely with beads.i must have had a lot of patience back then. I had so many patterns, magazines and finishing pieces. Then life happened and I gave it all away. So when I came back to stitching in 2014 right before I retired I was amazed at all the changes that had taken place. I swore I would not buy all,the things. Let me tell you how that worked out. My comfort stitching is Priscilla and Chelsea, the Real Housewives of Cross Stitch. But really any stitching for me is comfort stitching. I love my unstitcher. I cut the first stitch and then use the unstitcher. I have less bent needles that way. Thanks for sharing all of your tips and tricks. As always, I really enjoyed your video. Have a great two weeks!
Yeah, I won a giveaway! I really enjoy your videos! Beautiful stitching, helpful hints and a lot of laughs. Watch out for those winter crows. Happy stitching!
Indeed, you're right about the changes that have happened over time to this craft (and others!) I learned to cross-stitch and embroider a good 60 years ago. I began with full-coverage cross-stitch -- only in the early 2000s did I learn about 'samplers' -- when I took a class from Jeannette Douglas in Calgary at Traditional Stitches (a new shop then -- I think it's now in its 24th year!) I wasn't sure at first, but I cottoned on to Jeannette's unique samplers, and then a few years back, fell in love with reproduction samplers and others in that style. As a knitter (63 years now) and quilter (30 years or so), I'm familiar with UFOs, WIPs and frogging, as knitters and quilters use those terms too, as I'm sure you know! I'm not a big SAL (or KAL or QAL) person, but I love to follow whatever others are working on, no matter what particular rabbit hole I've gone down! Best wishes for Christmas and the new year...keep up the comfort stitching!
You are definitely a lifelong crafter Margaret! I tried knitting back in the 70's because I love sweaters so much and got frustrated when I had tension issues. I haven't tried it again since but am getting tempted!
What great tips today!! I too, stitched back in the day and have rediscovered cross stitch and all the new and improved tools and methods. Wish i had heard today's message over a year ago when i picked it up again. I fell for having to do everything with all the called for colors and fabrics. Ive finally realized i need to do what i enjoy and i dont have to have it all!! Winter crows, not at all what i would call you beautiful ladies!!
When I first started stitching on linen I thought you had to use the exact same linen as the designer and now feel more confident to choose what works for me.
Prairie Schooler is the best. P Buckley Moss. I never stitched one. I have several of her prints. I actually met her. She signed my first print I got of hers. It's called Brothers Three. I had 3 sons she put theirs names on it. I love your video. I still start everything in middle. I started my first counted cross stitch on linen in 1975. I have never stopped cross stitching. I learned to quilt in the 80's. I used plastic pieces and sandpaper with pencil and I did use fabric scissors. I did everything by hand. Love all your pieces.
Thank You for sharing “Tricks of the Trade” 😊 I have come back to Cross Stitching in the last couple of years and I am embracing allllllll the new and beautiful changes in this art ❤ I am completely ADDICTED to Flosstubes and the Cross Stitch Community ….. you two are doing a GREAT job sharing and teaching in every Flosstube
The Winter Crows are destroying my lawn as they dig for grubs. So annoying. I really appreciate how you give so much thought to your content. Good tips and tricks.
Love your floss tube. I created, or improved, a stitch term….. wisp = work in SLOW progress 😅 since I have over two hundred wisps hahaha Love the winter crows
Oh, I forgot to say... loved seeing your Christmas tree at the very beginning; Fantastic. Love seeing the projects displayed in homes. You guys are so generous to have the patterns that you share with us, your viewers (subscribers). Again, Thank you!
Hi Renee. Thank you for the compliment. When we downsized I used to put up a lot of trees. So many are themes. After 52 years of being married I have to admit I still collect a new dated ornament. My girls have the same tradition. My oldest daughter put up 13 trees this year and they are gorgeous . I’ve been passing on my collections to them and now they are enjoying. Merry Christmas and enjoy the season ❤
I would love to stitch Winter Crows for my sister. Thank you Roberta for creating the retreat website. One of these years I hope to get into the Summer School retreat I’ll just keep trying. Merry Christmas to you lovely stitchers. 🎄
You definitely have to send your request in as soon as registration opens! Don't get discouraged if you end up on a waiting list because I know people got in that way last year.
Oh Linda you are so sweet to share this. I feel like if there is a mistake to make I'll make it, so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to let us know.
You taped on Monday and it didn’t appear until Wednesday. You are simply a joy to watch. County stitches at times includes a tool corner. Looking forward to the next video. You two make one feel like one of your friends.
Hi Eva. I was away from home most of Tuesday so wasn't able to get to editing until Tuesday evening. 😊 I knew there lots of photos etc. that needed to be inserted and it takes me awhile. Thanks for spending time with us!
@@Roberta.SABLEStitchers no classes. It was her Christmas Open House, and I got one of the spots to hang out all day and stitch. I'll definitely be going back!
Great FT!!! Funny comment on the pattern. You both have such Beautiful wips - so inspiring!!! Don’t I wish I had some of the advice when I started stitching - always good to be reminded!!!
I started x stitching in the late 60's. All hand drawn! I stitched up to the late 90's then restarted n 2021 when i had a knee replacement. What a change in everything.
Wonderful as ladies! Linnie, it was Shellie from antique needle workers who mentioned the portable magnifying light. I was not able to find it, so if you could mention where you were able to purchase it, I would appreciate it.. I learned a great stitch from Jean Farrish - keep a tiny little piece of sponge, wetted, and run floss over it like you would wax. Amazing - I have not had a knot since! I just put my little square of sponge on a little plastic container or pill case. Thanks for all you share!
I bought it on Amazon but just noticed it’s coming from Australia. Shipping costs should have given me a good hint. It is supposed to be her on December 11. I will be sure to show it when it arrives. Thank you Shellie for the good tip. Thanks for helping me remember take care ❤
Could you tell me the name of the item so I can search for it. Thanks and try the tip from floss tuber Jean Farrish about the piece of wet sponge. @@linnieisenburg520
@@Christine-ix7tp sure. It is called a Daylight D1350 compact magnifying light. I paid 21.98 for it bill give a review next video if it is here. Thanks Christine
I sure don't see any winter crows on my monitor! I was glad to see the Owl Forest Embroidery project. I just started a free mystery piece from Owl Forest - I think it's called Flowers. I just took it to be enlarged as the symbols were too small for my eyes. I have finished the geranium and have started the fuschia plant.
Considering your beautiful card that you received, you guys should start a scrapbook of your FlossTube and stitching adventure! You could keep cards, stickers, notes, Linnie’s jokes, information from retreats, etc.
Too funny Linnie... you're really jumpy. It's the spider syndrome 😂. My front yard is full of winter crows and not the Roberta and Linnie kind! Have a good week ladies.
Hi Ladies - so much fun to watch this video. Talking about the beginnings of your cross stitch journey reminded me that I have been cross stitching since the 70's. I started with kits. Then in the 80's you could buy some pattern books, DMC or Anchor and Aida to stitch the designs. And, of course, kits continued. Especially Dimension kits. Then a couple of years ago, I discovered Flosstube. What a fun eye opener. Now I buy patterns, all kinds of fabric including hand dyed fabrics and hand dyed floss. I have really enjoyed building up my stash! And any stitching is my comfort stitching. Take Care!
I, like U2, started x stitching in the late 70's; I've stitched many projects, but haven't fully finished 80% of them, but have collected All the magazines over 15 or more yrs. I have them in 4 in 3 ring binders by date order. I picked up stitching again this year and have the passion big time. Have been going through all these old binders (I must have a minimum of 30 4 in binders). Enjoying all the tips/suggestions you brought up today. Everyone needs to be reminded now and again. I've been painting and card making in between. My craftroom is bulging at the seams with all my crafty interests. I really Enjoy watching ya'll. Keep it up! Thank you...
Sounds like a wonderful collection Renae! There were some really great patterns that are no longer available so am sure you are enjoying reviewing those.
Yep. I learned how to quilt out of library books. Scissors and templates. No fancy rulers, cutting boards, or rotary cutters. Thanks to UA-cam and people like Jenny Doan who figured out ways to make blocks without Y seams, quilting became fun. Changes in batting as well. Nice batting now. Back then, all I could get was that fluffy polyester stuff.
OMG What a great episode. Ladies, your song at the end had me welling up. I thank God that you are both doing better. Merry Christmas to you both. And of course, a fabulous New Year.
Winter crows make me happy.
I’m stitching a cute one this week. Maybe I’ll get it done before next video. At least close ❤
Thank you soooo much for the shout out! You ladies are very kind 💕🧵
You are so welcome! Merry Christmas, Lorraine!
You two crack me up! You will never be winter crows!
I always figure 1 potato per person and maybe 3 extra potato.
We had plenty and they took all the leftovers too so I figured about the same. Of course they didn’t have any butter in them haha. Julia Child would have been very proud of me. ❤
Another fantastic video thank you for always being upbeat ♥️🎄♥️

Oh what a treat it was for your grandson to see that! That's funny about the collecting Julie! We probably fall in that collecting category as well!
Hi Julie. I should be getting it back any day. I am so excited to see and share ❤

Loved all the tips! When I started stitching again in 2020 I had to keep reminding myself that there are no Cross stitch police!
So true! I've taken classes where the teacher has been adamant about doing things a specific way and I've learned there is just no one right way for almost everything.
Absolutely not. You do what you want when you want. Just have fun and you can even break a rule or two. Haha ❤
Another fantastic video, ladies!
Love Winter Crows❤️
Linnie, you mentioned P Buckley Moss patterns, so I wanted to share that I had the pleasure of meeting her in September at her distribution center in Mathews County, VA, where her distribution center is, & she is such a fun, interesting person to talk with. @linnieisenburg520 sure. I am telling everyone about wisps hahaha and I actually have over 200 wisps 😆
Love that acronym! So applicable to me as well.
Oh, I forgot to say... loved seeing your Christmas tree at the very beginning; Fantastic. Love seeing the projects displayed in homes. You guys are so generous to have the patterns that you share with us, your viewers (subscribers). Again, Thank you!
Thanks so much Renae! The tree at the beginning is Linnie's; I haven't got mine up yet-yikes!
Winter crows! Love your flosstube. I too have many projects. Will I live long enough to do them all.
So true, but it's wonderful to have options for projects.
Winter Crows ... I enjoy watching you so much. Thanks for sharing your time with us!!
Catching up during break…..you are a breath of fresh air! I pretty much broke my insta habit, but it’s hard during break!
I wasn't on it much over the holidays either; I tend to go down the rabbit hole when I do!
I would never refer to you and Linnie as a winter crow;) Love your channel!
Thank you for another informative flosstube. I’ve tried to learn cross stitch, I had so many questions, you’ve clear up a lot of my questions.
You gals kept me company while I was driving from TN to Virginia. I'm lucky enough to be going to Notforgotten Farm tomorrow!!!
Oh so envious! Are you going to a class?
@@Roberta.SABLEStitchers no classes. It was her Christmas Open House, and I got one of the spots to hang out all day and stitch. I'll definitely be going back!
Great FT!!! Funny comment on the pattern. You both have such Beautiful wips - so inspiring!!! Don’t I wish I had some of the advice when I started stitching - always good to be reminded!!!
Thanks so much for the feedback Linda!
I started x stitching in the late 60's. All hand drawn! I stitched up to the late 90's then restarted n 2021 when i had a knee replacement. What a change in everything.
I know, that had to be a lot more work for the designers as well!
Winter crows😂! You ladies are so much fun. Love all your stuff.
Great flosstube ❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks Nana! Hope you are having a wonderful holiday season!
Thank you for the tip Christine!
Thank you for sharing tips for fabric measurements and how to get started .
Glad it was helpful!
I love watching your videos! You are such fun. I guess I am one of the winter crows.
I'm sure you aren't Teresa!
Good tip Connie! Makes it so much more fun when we aren't struggling to read the pattern!
I haven't been able to stitch and I'm going nuts.
Oh no Diane, hope you are able to return to stitching shortly!
Oh Diane I hope you are getting better. Wishing you the best ❤
I am going to StitchNorth Fall in Toronto Canada Oct 25-27 2024.
Thanks for the tip! I have their spring retreats on the calendar but not fall so will get that added.
Sounds like something to look forward too have fun❤
It is fun to hear your tips from the past and where you are now…we all learn from each other.
Yes we do indeed,
Definitely! I've learned so much from watching Flosstube video!
Considering your beautiful card that you received, you guys should start a scrapbook of your FlossTube and stitching adventure! You could keep cards, stickers, notes, Linnie’s jokes, information from retreats, etc.
Teresa. What a sweet thought. It would be so fun to look at in a hundred years ❤
That's a fantastic suggestion Teresa. And I have just the book for that!
I use 'stitchers best friend'. I have several actually and can never find one when I need one....lol....so annoying...lol.
I will have to look into that. Did you get it online or at a LNS?
Thanks❤
Loved your visit...no one would compare you to WinterCrows...love all you shared...best wishes ❤❤😊
Such an enjoyable episode ladies. Love watching your Flosstube videos.
Have a nice week.
Greetings, Clara from The Netherlands
Hi Clara. So happy to see you. Thank you for watching and sharing with us. Happy comfort stitching to you ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
Such a fun video! Thank you for all the great tips. Winter crows
Glad you like them!
You guys are great!!!❤
Thanks so much Joyce!
I love watching you guys! I always enjoy seeing what you have been up to and what you are stitching!
Winter crows is awesome. I love watching the two of you. You always make me smile😂
Too funny Linnie... you're really jumpy. It's the spider syndrome 😂. My front yard is full of winter crows and not the Roberta and Linnie kind! Have a good week ladies.
Wishing you both the joy of the holidays!!!
You as well Sarah! Thank you for spending some time with us again.
Thank you so much for another sweet visit with both of you. Take care and see you soon!
Take Care!
Thank you for sharing your stitching story Janie! I love reading people's stories about their history with this hobby!
Isn't it amazing how many wonderful supplies have become available in the past few years! We are very fortunate.
Love you ladies, you put a smile on my face, which isn't easy right now. What an escape watching you two giggle and enjoy your friendship ❤ Thank you!
Nancy, I truly hope things are going better this week.
OMG What a great episode. Ladies, your song at the end had me welling up. I thank God that you are both doing better. Merry Christmas to you both. And of course, a fabulous New Year.
Happy New Year to you Heidi!
