  • Hello and welcome to Badger Cam in this weeks video, I am going to be making the new tooling of the Airfix 1:72 scale De Havilland Mosquito.
The mosquito was one of the most versatile planes of ww2,made almost entirely of wood it was know as the wooden wonder and I have been looking forward to building a model of this iconic plane for quite some time.
Over all the detail on this kit is very good the spurs have nice crisp details and very little flash
Over all I found the build simple and easy.
But took quite a bit longer than I expected to complete
Despite my concerns over the very fine under carriage, this bit once complete it actually very stable. The most difficult part of the build for me was the bomb bay, I found it was easy to build this part externally and add it to the bays after construction, as trying to add the parting into the bay was very difficult mainly due to the lack of room to manoeuvre in the area.
The decals on this model also left a little bit of silvering and If you are going to build this plane in the night scheme, would benefit from the use of decal fix to remove or reduce this
Any way that's my review of the airfix 1/72 scale Mosquito
As always I hope you enjoyed the video and if you are building one of these at home that it gives you a good idea of what to expect from the build
until next time look after yourself and have a good one

Ah I know mate, this was during a big glue famine, ordered a new bottle before the old one ran out, it leaked trashed a model that was in the same package, then the local stores and that didnt have any in stock hate the tube stuff tbh

I made that kit twice; the first time in 1966 was my very first Airfix kit, and I was surprised how easy it was. The repeat I did in 1972 was a huge disappointment, since the fits were off, especially in the fuselage. You did an amazing job on a kit that demonstrates Airfix's penchant for detail. Glad to see you're a brush painter, too, and you use a much greater variety of colors than what I could get back in the day. This edition of the Mosquito is by far the best version Airfix has produced, and they seem to have rectified at leas some of their prior fragility issues with their decals.

Yeah I think this is my second time on this kit,I made a terrible job of the one I did in the 90s,half the stuff didnt line up at all so it may have been the same version of the kit. Thank you the new airfix models are fantastic though a real step above what they used to be,and thanks again I get a little tired of seeing mostly airbrush painters on youtube,I havent got the money or time to be working one of them alongside my hobbies.I think they are releasing a new version again of this same kit,im not sure what the couler scheme was for, might have been training or observation but the paint scheme in the new on looks rather bright

Very excellent work on the Mosquito plane as well.
I also like that one from Airfix. I even had a box of many options of Mosquitoes as well. And those were: Mk II, Mk III, Mk IV, Mk VI, Mk XII, and also Mk XVI as well.
I have made it to be with Yugoslav markings as well. I did a few years ago. Forgot to mention that the version of that Mosquito had also a pilot figures as well.
I just love your work, and also your channel is amazing as well.
    Keep up the work.

      @@scalestuff1066 You're welcome.
I think that the Airfix version that I have assembled is I think from either 70's or maybe 80's (not so sure about that, I have to check it out). All I know is that the box isn't red, but it has written skills as well. And I think the skill was number 2 as well, but I have to check that also as well.

Could be the late 80s one,if you go onto scale mates be easy to find the version with the make and the scale

Thanks mate. You should give it ago the airfix kits a real nice model, the lines on it are fantastic, just make sure you paint the bomb bay before you put it in, and also don't get paints on the wing support struts

This is not a Night Fighter, it is supposed to be a Bomber. I say supposed as it is actually a .model of a target tug TT 35

    • @scalestuff1066
      @scalestuff1066  8 місяців тому

Really what makes you say that? So airfix have got a plane based on a target tug and changed the scheme?
