Lucky lunches are amazing for skull cavern staircase runs (who needs defense or speed if you're just looking for treasure floors). The fried eel he also gives you aren't as powerful, but still free. Krobus is best buddy!
Soon as Wiki told me Shane likes chickens I was determined to be his friend lol. His storyline hit me hard cause it was so parallel to mine... I had to have a really good cry. I love this game
I’ve given Abigail so many gifts and usually the response is concerningly “this looks delicious”. No Abigail, do not eat the quartz, flowers and other non edible gifts.
Robin also loves spaghetti! It's easy enough to make or buy from the saloon. And krobus gives you lucky lunch occasionally, which imo makes him the absolute best spouse
I have married every spouse in various playthroughs and I have to say that Shane is my favorite but I really despise the fact that he has beer in his room when he moves with the farmer, it takes away then immersion and doesn't match with his storyline (14 heart cutscene included). I even play with mods just to get rid of this issue.
I didn’t really care about the friendship in my first Playthru, in March 2021, but in my play through I’ve been doing using your seasonal guide, I decided to pay more attention to it. I managed to marry Abigail on the 28th of Fall! Also, I have a lot of hearts with all of the villagers. Your guides has helped me a lot, and I subbed because of it, so thank you!
I've been replaying Stardew (I married Shane my first playthrough and then put the game down) and I just love George and Evelyn so much this time around. I always visit them every morning and I actually smile IRL when Evelyn reacts to a loved gift. It's so sweet! There's something about Haley this go round too, I was going to marry Elliott but seeing someone go from indifferent to kind is my weakness and Haley is a cutie
I usually use tree fruits as liked gifts, as virtually everybody likes them and I usually have a lot. Pomegranates are another loved gift for Elliott. Caroline & Lewis love tea, and coffee and tea are good liked gifts for most of the other adults. By the way, Linus also loves yams. He's so grateful when you give him a loved gift instead of the usual forage.
Give all love interests a bouquet from Poeree on their birthday; then give a birthday gift to instantly get 10 hearts. I like to experience Alex's 10 heart cutscene last (just avoid Saloon after 5 pm until you are ready; and make certain to have a lucky rabbit's foot in your inventory to avoid getting busted for dating cheating on everyone.
When I first started playing Stardew, Elliott was my biggest crush. He just radiated male lead vibes and I was crushed when I accidentally gave him a hated gift.
I so confidently gave Elliott a rainbow shell a while ago, because I thought it was a loved item and he just didn't care about it xD I guess I somehow confused rainbow shells and duck feathers, but come on, Elliott!
Same thing happened to me!!! Except I accidently gave him a hated gift a second time, and then I realized he's a super pretentious jerk. Then it became my life's goal to force him to be my friend, and every time I give him a gift I think to myself, "You'd better like this one, you stuck-up bastard!!" Honestly, I just wanna see what's in his beach house. It's a weird love-hate relationship 😂
Something I found really useful is that Maru loves cauliflowers, and when you're collecting them for the community centre it is so easy to just lay a few aside for her.
I think Haley also loves sunflowers, the seed cost only 100g for me at Joja mart 125g if you do the community center. They grow in the Summer and they can grow in the Fall too. They also give back seeds sometimes so it is a easy gift for her
I married Shane in my current playthrough. I put houseplants down in his room to cover most of the mess and just headcanon that he got into being a plant dad now that he's (mostly) sober lol
It's worth noting that Void Eggs are also loved by Sebastian. If you happen to get a void chicken in year two, you have an infinite supply of gifts for him. Also - Penny loves any book from the book seller. They're expensive, but they're an option.
A few to add just because they're not that hard to get and gold or Iridium quality items really make things go faster: Willy: Pumpkins Elliot: Duck feathers Robin: Goat Cheese Harvey: Wine Leah: Goat Cheese Krobus: Pumpkins
[My opinion] I love Penny, just absolute love towards her. I find her to be the best spouse, I love the home-cooked meals she gives. Just an amazing character.
My go-to easy liked gift is corn. If you collect mixed seeds during spring and plant them all during Summer (2 regrowables from the pool, and corn grows 2 seasons), plus you get peppers from mixed seeds too, which are good for Lewis and Shane. For the few that don't like corn, (Abi, Pierre, kids, Sam, Haley), they like tortilla which just requires 1 corn, if you have the kitchen.
The real trick to high friendship with the villagers is apricots. The seeds are cheap, you can grow a ton of the trees in the Greenhouse and everyone likes them. You can use any fruit tree (and I generally have 2 of each in my greenhouse) but apricots are the cheapest to grow and you can easily have a good stock of them grown before the end of fall in year 1. Using fruit tree fruit keeps you from having to worry about giving the wrong items to specific villagers or having to remember specific exceptions to loved or liked gifts. And it solves the annoyance of getting those hard to find gifts for some villagers (like Penny).
Gifts on birthdays, as he went over, you can give gifts on birthdays despite haven been given 2 that week, HOWEVER, If the same character has a quest board request, that can be given on their birthday too, making you be able to give 4 gifts in one week!
Robin loves goat cheese which is pretty easy to do and especially easy to find her when you have her working on farm buildings. Arguably way easier than fussing with a peach tree, though iirc Spaghetti is regularly also available at the saloon, really Gus is the key to friendship overall as most people have loved dishes which can be found there, some regularly and others randomly.
I don't like having a spouse, they get really tedious very quickly, but I do like having the kids around.....doing the house work and what have you. So I'll usually get married, get the kids, then get divorced. On my current farm I'm considering having Krobus move in either as a nanny, or as a pet for the kids.
With Penny being disappointed in her mother, spending all her time in the museum, and liking artifact gifts...is it possible that ConcernedApe is trying to tell us Penny aspires to be an archaeologist? That would explain the geodes in the mail too, if she spent a large amount of time digging up artifact spots. I find it funny how the dialogue in the game can be so plain at times, but then I'm blown away by the inferred story beats, like how Penny doesn't like any alcoholic drinks because her mother drinks too much, or how Clint likes all gems except Diamond (because Diamond is just Coal under pressure, so why would he like it?). Same thing with Emily liking all gems except Diamond (because she thinks the color of the gem needs to match the aura of the person receiving it). You even pointed out one of the implied story moments I've never seen, when Shane becomes a spouse and there's beer cans and muddy footprints. I've said it before, but 1) this game is amazing, and 2) your videos have vastly improved my experience in playing. Thank you for all you do!
Shane also loves pizza, if you still want the convenience of buying his gifts, don't mind spending a little extra, and don't want to feed his alcoholism.
In my current playthrough I went around giving flowers to everyone(except the ones who dislike them) to befriend them. In a previous playthrough I managed to dance with Sebastian during the Flower Dance in Year 1 by giving him quartz and Frozen Tears, one of his loved items that you find plenty of once you've gotten past floor 40 in the mines.
You can have kids with a different spouse then divorce and optionally erase their memories and then "marry" Krobus and he will have unique dialogs about your kids
2 things first off ima make sure I don't loose your vid and secondly I am sooo happy that you said that u can give characters gifts 2 times per week and not season because I almost missed one of the characters birthdays thinking it was monthly
I love that you can hand someone the best quality of something they hate and they'll despise you for it. Sorry I got you the best milk in the world Kent, I didn't realize that they gave you that in the war.
I generally refuse to marry anyone on principle, but I noticed soon after Krobus moved in that he gives some really useful gifts. I have stockpiled quite a few lucky lunches and - I think it's fried eel? I'm not much of a cook, so I appreciate the free food.
I've recently noticed that almost everyone has Salmonberry Jelly as a liked gift aside from Sebastian. Considering how easy it is to get Salmonberries, sounds like it's relatively simple to make that in bulk.
I brag that I got Alex married 1st yr. I luckily got salmon dinner in the saloon and bought 2, one for that day and one for his birthday. I had to raise Gus to 3 hearts to get that recipe in order to complete it. I remember I bought 12 complete breakfasts and ran, I have no uses for it
HAHAHAHAHAHA when you said “the recipe for sashimi will make fish sell for more” I heard “the recipe for sashimi will make fish suffer more” 😂 and I was like “omg I guess he’s joking but jeez that’s kind of dark!” Then I realized I’m an idiot haahhahahahaahha. Just wanted to share bc I am laughing hahahahaahaha. Thanks for the Stardew Valley video(s)- always really helpful!!! I’m doing my first play through now and I am going after Shane- 4 hearts so far. Though, I’m a recovering addict IRL and as soon as I met him, I considered no one else 😂. Even before I fully knew he was a DRUNKdrunk lol. I IMMEDIATELY was like “he needs me to warm him up- I can help him.” Hahahaahahahahhaha Really making me question all my past relationships. Sebastian just does not like me lol. I briefly considered going after him once I realized it was probably more logical to go after a few people at once so that you end up with close friends aside from just your love interest. He never likes any of my gifts lol. The other day I gave him gold star mayonnaise because I had tried so many other things and he literally said “what am I supposed to do with this?” IDK SEB MAYBE MAKE A SANDWHICH JEEZ JUST TAKE THE HOMEMADE MAYO AND GO. (Hahaha jja ik it’s predetermined, but it feels personal hahahahaha).
For Willy I keep a Catfish if higher quality to give him on his b-day 😊 For Elliot I find Duck Feather or Pomegranade as the easiest gift (Bat Cave might give you one for his b-day in higher quality ❤ For Robin - best gift is the Goat Cheese - same for Leah. When it comes to Sebastian the best gift is Void Egg.
a few loved gifts that are also easy to obtain: Haley loves sunflowers, which can be grown summer-fall, and Maru loves cauliflowers, which can be grown in spring! Also Willy loves catfish, if you happen to have the skill to catch those. Elliott also loves pomegranates and duck feathers, so if you have the fruit cave/tree, or ducks, he's pretty easy. Abigail loves pumpkins, which you can get in higher quality! Robin loves goat cheese (same with Leah), so you if you have goats that's an easy one. Sebastian loves void eggs, and Harvey loves truffle oil.
I married Sebastian on year two and now on my 7th year talking to him has become a habit 😂 I got really sad when I realized that I went ti bed early on the 28 of summer because his favorite and also my personal favorite event was that night, I literally almost cried😂
I always go fpr Elliot as a spouse, I usually cheat with mods but if youre marrying him in vanilla with no cheating coop getting a coop for ducks and only ducks alongside the crab pots is a good idea
I don’t like her, I don’t really dislike like her in the way I dislike Hailey or Maru, I just personally don’t care for her personality, idk why? I like quiet book types in real life and as a character she’s fine as she’s trying to be a teacher etc, just something just doesn’t work for me, maybe it’s how she looks when she smiles? Idk I can’t pin anything down, her cutscenes are interesting enough and it’s a realistic story of dealing with a alcoholic parent, but just not for me
I’be just started playing this week, going off what I have already learned in some of your other videos, great work btw, you can get almost half the friendship points in one week giving the highest quality gifts twice then a third time on their bday? Pretty poggers to know, not even counting the talking to them each day
Here are a few sustainable gift items for the marriage candidates. I usually set these up before marrying them to make sure I maintain the relationship. A spouse’s dialogue once your relationship decays can be pretty heartbreaking or even brutal. Abigail: keep some amethysts in crystalariums (although they’re pretty easy to get), trade rubies for spicy eels at the desert, or keep some pumpkins growing in your greenhouse/garden pots (a recipe from Evelyn once the greenhouse is complete). Alex: rabbit’s foot-get a few rabbits and just keep ‘em coming unless you’re willing to keep making his favorite dishes. The “easiest” would be salmon dinner. Keep a salmon fish pond and grow some amaranth and kale in your greenhouse/garden pot. I’d settle for giving him eggs or other such liked gifts if you can’t be bothered. Elliott: duck feathers and pomegranates Emily: wool from sheep/rabbits, any gem besides diamonds in crystalariums Haley: sunflowers in the greenhouse/garden pot, and coconuts if you often go to the desert/ginger island Harvey: coffee! Complete Evelyn and George’s special order to get a coffee machine to make you a cup every day. Truffle oil is another easy-to-make item in the spring to fall. Leah: goat cheese, truffle, salad from the saloon Maru: strawberries, diamonds, cauliflowers, and her dishes (pepper poppers and cheese cauliflower) are pretty easy to make as well Penny: emeralds, diamonds, melons, and poppies Sam: cactus fruit and pizza. Pizza can be bought at the saloon every day and cactus fruit can be grown in a garden pot once you get seeds from Oasis, a shop run by Sandy in the desert. Sebastian: void eggs from a void chicken, sashimi from crab pot fish, and frozen tears from the mines (flr 40-79). Pumpkin soup (from Robin) is also pretty easy to make (just pumpkins and milk) and it’s a great dish to bring to the skull caverns. Shane: hot peppers in garden pots and pizzas from the saloon.
I usually just get a summer coffee farm going and then use coffees to make friends, because its liked or neutral by all the villagers except the children.
Alex was the spouse I had for the first pay through i did, I gave him so many earth crystals. Willy I usually give him a catfish, but I think there's some other fish he likes but I cant remember
Don’t forget some NPCs will go to the Altar of Yoba on some days as well as some of the Mom’s getting together at Pierre’s house to do stuff with Caroline
I was trying to do the entry to give Pam pale ale but didn’t read it right and thought she just wanted beer so I was pleased to find out it was one of her loves and it didn’t go to waste at least lol
Shane also loves Pizza, which is also always available at the Saloon! So if you’re like me and a little baby about giving an alcoholic more alcohol, you can spend a little extra money and give him pizza!
The relationship idea in this game is so great but a HUGE flaw is that even after you marry... Nothing changes. Nobody reacts to it differently. If you marry Haley (i do in Every Single World I Play) for example, Emily won't even comment on anything despite now living on her own... Also would be fun if some characters would have sexualities other than bisexual...
It really upsets me how much you hate on my darling Penny. Her backstory is heartbreaking, she talks about her abusive father who abandoned her, her last heart event gives exclusive items, and she is still a very sweet spouse. My girl every playthrough.

Do you have to already have 8 hearts to do this or can you do it at any amount of hearts?
“the shrine of trans your gender” got me
yeah me too lol.
Yeah me three
18:19
Same 😭
Good this is hilarious because I actually used it to change my gender half way through my first play through when i realized i was trans
I love how diamonds are a universally loved gift, except for the gem enthusiast.
You’re one of the very few people I’ve ever seen who like Elliot
Same thing happened to me!!! Except I accidently gave him a hated gift a second time, and then I realized he's a super pretentious jerk. Then it became my life's goal to force him to be my friend, and every time I give him a gift I think to myself, "You'd better like this one, you stuck-up bastard!!" Honestly, I just wanna see what's in his beach house. It's a weird love-hate relationship 😂
Something I found really useful is that Maru loves cauliflowers, and when you're collecting them for the community centre it is so easy to just lay a few aside for her.
By this point I stalked the character so much on wiki I almost had all of the npc schedule memorised and their loved gifts
After Willy's 6-heart cutscene crab cakes are only sold for 4 days, not always
I think he meant they are unlimited in the sense you can buy as many as you want/can. No limit like the other specials.
It's worth noting that Void Eggs are also loved by Sebastian. If you happen to get a void chicken in year two, you have an infinite supply of gifts for him. Also - Penny loves any book from the book seller. They're expensive, but they're an option.
A few to add just because they're not that hard to get and gold or Iridium quality items really make things go faster:
Willy: Pumpkins
Elliot: Duck feathers
Robin: Goat Cheese
Harvey: Wine
Leah: Goat Cheese
Krobus: Pumpkins
I just bought the game yesterday and am watching all your guides. I cant tell u how helpful they've been and keeping me from being too overwhelmed
I had no idea the quality of the gift made a difference!! Thank you for all of your incredible videos ❤
[My opinion] I love Penny, just absolute love towards her. I find her to be the best spouse, I love the home-cooked meals she gives. Just an amazing character.
My daughter 100% wants us to marry Penny on our playthrough together too
Why does she have so much hate tho? I've seen a lot of people dislike her but don't know why
@@edosl1426probably because she isn’t as “rewarding” as the others, but I tell you, I married her on my first play through, and I have no regrets.
On my first play through. Married Penny. She is the best wife
same
My go-to easy liked gift is corn.
Shane also loves pizza, which you can buy at the saloon too, you don’t to feed his addiction!
I always switch out buying him beers to pizzas after the cutscene like it matters 😂
Amazing content. Great voice, writing, content, going to binge this channel. Well done…in my third watch
Another good gift for Sebastian is Bok Choy!!
I always remember it by saying
"Bok Choy for the sad boy" 🤣🤣🤣
A nice tip for 1.6: Evelyn now likes getting broken glasses and Leah likes getting driftwood
if your character is a guy I think Alex's story is one of the best. his ten heart event is so touching
I always like to give Sebastian iridium quality void eggs, as once you have a void chicken they are pretty easy to come by
Gifts on birthdays, as he went over, you can give gifts on birthdays despite haven been given 2 that week, HOWEVER, If the same character has a quest board request, that can be given on their birthday too, making you be able to give 4 gifts in one week!
For Alex, he likes field snacks, and says “mmm nuts”
Robin loves goat cheese which is pretty easy to do and especially easy to find her when you have her working on farm buildings. Arguably way easier than fussing with a peach tree, though iirc Spaghetti is regularly also available at the saloon, really Gus is the key to friendship overall as most people have loved dishes which can be found there, some regularly and others randomly.
Shane’s storyline is so sad..he’s my husband in Stardew and I used to find it a bit hard to gift him something but he enjoys eggs so..🤷♀️
He loves pepper...
I don't like having a spouse, they get really tedious very quickly, but I do like having the kids around.....doing the house work and what have you. So I'll usually get married, get the kids, then get divorced. On my current farm I'm considering having Krobus move in either as a nanny, or as a pet for the kids.
any updates?
@@aylat.961 fr I wanna know 😂
How’d it go?!
Getting divorced so casually hah
@@heboottoobigforhegotdamnfeet Everything was good with Krobus, till he started shedding his skin in the kitchen. Then he had to go.
I adore your interest in and passion for details that matter related to storyline and therefore emotion-wise. :>
Oh finally now I can learn how to have friends.
😭
Shane also loves pizza, if you still want the convenience of buying his gifts, don't mind spending a little extra, and don't want to feed his alcoholism.
I have a full-heart friendship with Linus. He’s my bestie and I love him sm
I accidentally told him off during the trash sequel.. I just spammed A and bam💀 I was like noo i‘m so sorry 😭
@@PeyloBeauty NOOO 😭😭😭
In my current playthrough I went around giving flowers to everyone(except the ones who dislike them) to befriend them. In a previous playthrough I managed to dance with Sebastian during the Flower Dance in Year 1 by giving him quartz and Frozen Tears, one of his loved items that you find plenty of once you've gotten past floor 40 in the mines.
You can have kids with a different spouse then divorce and optionally erase their memories and then "marry" Krobus and he will have unique dialogs about your kids
what does he say?! he's so adorable I need to know
kent casually give us bomb after higher the friendship with him is...... something
This is such a helpful straight to the point video. Thank you! I've been looking for a video that breaks stuff down so easily.
2 things first off ima make sure I don't loose your vid and secondly I am sooo happy that you said that u can give characters gifts 2 times per week and not season because I almost missed one of the characters birthdays thinking it was monthly
you can give characters birthday gifts regardless of if you already gave them 2 gifts that week
Kids are needed for one thing actually. If you want the full house achievement, you need to have 2 kids with your spouse.
I love that you can hand someone the best quality of something they hate and they'll despise you for it. Sorry I got you the best milk in the world Kent, I didn't realize that they gave you that in the war.
i cant believe im still learning new things about this game, i had no idea characters would react to getting hit with the slingshot!!
Mayor Lewis hates me, I’ve given him 2 hated gifts and he always sees me looking through the trash cans 😂
I have hundreds of hours in Stardew Valley. I did not know that Sam worked at Joja Mart.
It's because my name is Sam so I never care about the character Sam because it just gets confusing
I generally refuse to marry anyone on principle, but I noticed soon after Krobus moved in that he gives some really useful gifts. I have stockpiled quite a few lucky lunches and - I think it's fried eel? I'm not much of a cook, so I appreciate the free food.
Really appreciate these guides you've put up, recently dived into stardew valley and this info has been invaluable, thanks!
Robin also loves peaches & goat cheese, to get the pumpkin soup for mining buffs or love item for Sebastian.🥰
Hailey also loves sunflowers
I've recently noticed that almost everyone has Salmonberry Jelly as a liked gift aside from Sebastian. Considering how easy it is to get Salmonberries, sounds like it's relatively simple to make that in bulk.
I brag that I got Alex married 1st yr. I luckily got salmon dinner in the saloon and bought 2, one for that day and one for his birthday. I had to raise Gus to 3 hearts to get that recipe in order to complete it. I remember I bought 12 complete breakfasts and ran, I have no uses for it
8:52 Getting bulk Cauliflower for Maru is even easier. She loves those too.
there are so many trans people in the comments uniting over 18:18 and i am so here for it
Mee :3
Sebastian's friendship is actually super easy to max out if You've got a void chicken, since he loves void eggs.
Haley loves sunflowers, a summer and autumn crop
I randomly gave Abigail an Amethyst because it matches her hair color, didn't know she really loved it.
Stardew Valley + UA-cam = Abigail in the thumbnail just about every time, something about Abigail lol
For Willy I keep a Catfish if higher quality to give him on his b-day 😊
For Elliot I find Duck Feather or Pomegranade as the easiest gift (Bat Cave might give you one for his b-day in higher quality ❤
For Robin - best gift is the Goat Cheese - same for Leah.
When it comes to Sebastian the best gift is Void Egg.
I'm a new player and I've spent so much time in the wiki trying to make all the villagers be my friends
a few loved gifts that are also easy to obtain: Haley loves sunflowers, which can be grown summer-fall, and Maru loves cauliflowers, which can be grown in spring!
Thank you so much you do not know how much I needed this video
I always go fpr Elliot as a spouse, I usually cheat with mods but if youre marrying him in vanilla with no cheating coop getting a coop for ducks and only ducks alongside the crab pots is a good idea
This is very helpful cuz I want to befriend him lmao
I loved Penny since the begining I never understood why people hated her,
Same
I don’t like her, I don’t really dislike like her in the way I dislike Hailey or Maru, I just personally don’t care for her personality, idk why? I like quiet book types in real life and as a character she’s fine as she’s trying to be a teacher etc, just something just doesn’t work for me, maybe it’s how she looks when she smiles? Idk I can’t pin anything down, her cutscenes are interesting enough and it’s a realistic story of dealing with a alcoholic parent, but just not for me
She was weirdly rude to me in a couple interactions early on and soiled my first impression of her.
Elliott: duck feathers and pomegranates
Emily: wool from sheep/rabbits, any gem besides diamonds in crystalariums
Haley: sunflowers in the greenhouse/garden pot, and coconuts if you often go to the desert/ginger island
Harvey: coffee! Complete Evelyn and George’s special order to get a coffee machine to make you a cup every day. Truffle oil is another easy-to-make item in the spring to fall.
Leah: goat cheese, truffle, salad from the saloon
Maru: strawberries, diamonds, cauliflowers, and her dishes (pepper poppers and cheese cauliflower) are pretty easy to make as well
Penny: emeralds, diamonds, melons, and poppies
Sam: cactus fruit and pizza.
I just can't believe almost everyone in this town likes parsnips
me grinding amethysts as soon as the mine opens up on spring 5 to start romancing abigail as soon as I possibly can
Alex was the spouse I had for the first pay through i did, I gave him so many earth crystals. Willy I usually give him a catfish, but I think there's some other fish he likes but I cant remember
Octopus, sea cucumber, and sturgeon
I'm in year 8 of my game and only JUST starting to take friendship levels seriously 😅 This will be helpful
It really upsets me how much you hate on my darling Penny. Her backstory is heartbreaking, she talks about her abusive father who abandoned her, her last heart event gives exclusive items, and she is still a very sweet spouse. My girl every playthrough.
I’m so glad ConceredApe supports LGBTQ+. I’m really happy that you can lesbian or gay.
I've blown myself and my farm up so many times from Kent's bomb mail
at my first playthrough making friends was the big reason I didn't get 4 candles on the year 3 evaluation💀 i was only being friends with shane because he likes beer and is always at the bar and linus because he accepts everything
Most replayed feature proving Leah is the best bachelorette
I’m glad that the basic crops are liked by most people. I didn’t want to role play as an autistic mute giving raw vegetables to strangers.
