My wife isn't a gamer, but she really enjoyed the new animal crossing and was disappointed that it became so stale after a while. She's been stressed lately because of work, and I want her to enjoy the same escape gaming has given me from stress. I've never played Stardew, but I thought it would be a cool game for us to play together. We spent our first days on the farm wandering around pretty aimlessly (while still having a great time), so I told her I'd check out a few guides to give us some direction.
Every beginner's guide I've watched has been more of a cheat sheet on exactly what to do to have the most efficient playthrough, but yours is much gentler, and I feel like it's giving us the direction we need while not stripping away our autonomy to discover things for ourselves.
Very well done. I'm excited to play again tonight, and I think she's going to fall in love with this game.

      Well done, spouse person! 🙌
My husband just bought this for me on my chromebook for the same purpose. 😂💚 I’m loving it so much, and I had to come back and watch this vid after I saw him watching this channel. So helpful, AND entertaining enough for my stressed out ADHD brain to pay attention.

Exactly! I watched a guide(s) that was more about "cheats" than a getting started guide. I simply wanted a nudge in the right direction and a basic understanding of what's going on. This video actually did that by explaining energy, time and seasons, etc.
The other two videos I watched were more concerned about selling the parsnips for potatoes than actually explaining the farming process. Plus, that's something I can figure out myself later or learn in an advanced guide.
So, thank you so much for this!

After almost 900 hours in the game, I've learned a few things myself:
    1. Always save at least one of everything. You'll need it for the Community Center or as a gift. If not those two, as a quest item.
    2. Using your scythe uses no energy. Do that on your land first, you can clear away a great deal of land with no energy loss.
    3. Leave the stumps of some of your trees if you do cut them down. They will still drop seeds for you to turn into Field Snacks.
    4. Save money for the strawberries at the Egg Festival, and buy as many as you can. Strawberries are incredible early money.
    5. The beach only resets once a week, so I let it gather shells for the full week until Saturday, then collect them all on that day.
    6. It's just easier to print out the wiki table of what villager likes what gifts for birthdays. Memorizing them is a pain.

About forageables: don't forget that they sell for a lot more money if you turn them into seed packets before you sell them, so if you don't need to eat them for energy it makes good sense to save them until you have a full collection. It's a worthwhile crop to grow for that reason alone, besides it raising your forage skill even more.
Also, George loves leeks, Harvey and Krobus love horseradish, Pierre likes dandelions, and most other people like daffodils, so they're a good crop to grow for friendship reasons.

How do u turn it into seed packets?

    • @Marialla.
      @Marialla. 2 роки тому +34

@@khia7550Every season there are 3-4 forage items. You need a full collection, and then you need a high enough forage skill level to unlock the seed packet recipe.
Usually if you are chopping plenty of trees, and collecting forage regularly, especially if you grow some, you'll have no trouble unlocking the recipes on time.

Something I found is that while you’re customizing your character, there’s a icon with a wrench in it on the left side. There’s a option where you can change the profit margin. There’s 75%, 50%, and 25%; going with the largest percent, sold items are worth more and items that are being sold cost less. This can be really helpful if you come across a problem with making money. I don’t think you can change the profit margin once you’ve created the character.

I used to play the heck out of Harvest Moon 64 back in the day, and I finally bought Stardew Valley.
Funny how I picked up on what to do really quickly, as this game is basically a better version of Harvest Moon 64.
I originally planted my crops in the same hyper-efficient method I used in HM64 (think of a 3x3 plot as a compass rose, simply remove one plot from N, E, S, or W, and you can water them all if you leave room behind the opposite side).
I was happy to see i could actually walk through crops. HM64's crops behaved like the beans do in Stardew Valley.
I also thought the beans needed me to build a trellis, and since no trellis was in the crafting section, I never bought the beans. I also already bought a backpack. I think I did that by day 5 or 6. Fishing is pretty cool, and I'm playing the river farm.

This time I chose the woodland farm and very happy with it as I have a lake, lots of trees including berry shrubs etc on my farm. I can catch fish, set the crab pot at my lake, Harvest berries and collect maple etc on one place. Also monsters come out at night so I can get some slimes and bat wings etc.

    Absolutely terrific video.
I'm so, so tired of game beginner guide's having a constant b-roll of late game content and chock full of spoilers.
This is minimalist and informative in the best possible way. Thank you!

Thank you so much for this. I just bought it a couple of days ago and I was so lost. Alot of the 'beginner guide" videos I found on YT weren't really helpful.

Thank you for making this video. I have been reluctantly trying to convince myself to purchase this game and I finally did. The moment I began, I felt lost and had absolutely no interest. After 30 minutes of playtime, I requested a refund. I've now canceled the refund request and I'll see about giving it a little more time.

I couldn't get into animal crossing and saw this game on tiktok. Seems more up my alley and your tutorial was perfect. Subscribed so I can watch the others as I go!

I’ll watch your beach farm after I finish a run of Stardew. Impulsed bought it because I’ve been thinking of playing it for years, and I’m forcing myself to play it because I believe I will enjoy it

one thing that I learned, more of a keyboard shortcut ( at least in windows), that I use A LOT, is alt + tab swaps you through your open windows. and when youre on another window, the time pauses. so I like to keep open at least one (fullscreen) window of a another app, just in case I have to do something, and it's an easy way to get to the taskbar too

Good beginner guide! I might suggest planting parsnips until you get 5 "gold" quality for the future (Community Center). Otherwise, you have to wait for year 2 spring. Also, I ALWAYS buy the "training rod" from willie. Much easier to learn to fish.

So I got to year 4 only started watching videos on it before I stopped playing a year ago. Was playing on my mobile at the time and decided to wait until I get a switch. Got a switch and finally started playing again from the beggning.... I forgot a lot of what to do at the beggning... Definitely a better advantage then when I started as I'm literally making lots of money fishing but need help keeping on track.

This may be the best beginners' guide I've ever seen for Stardew Valley! You have really good video/editing skills. I'm glad I found you, I'll be looking forward to more of your content!
ps. Do you do live streaming? Because I'd love to join in with that.
