Unfortunately its not that easy. Some tuners have looked into it, but the top mounted intercooler design of the WRX engine is actually a little tall for the BRZ's engine compartment. You'd need a custom hood or redesign the inter cooler placement for it to fit
The problem is that with a turbo the BRZ/86 will be too much pollutant and will have VERY EXTREME tax in some countries because of that and nobody could afford it !
DK’s comments and impression of the BRZ made me want to test drive one, totally understood everything he was saying about the character and feel of the car!
They aren't really rivals at all. 4C is a very hardcore car, totally stripped out and without any luxury or comforts, very hard suspension and very track focused. Also, fully built out of carbon fiber and much more expensive. Alpine is a very comfortable and refined car with very soft suspension, more a grand touring car than a hardcore sports car.
The Alfa 4C has got poor steering performance and feel and is almost impossible to live with every day. A110 can be a daily driver. Now I gave you the info, no need to make a video. have a good day.

Great viewing for the pistonhead, as usual. The Alpine does seem to be blessed with some chassis magic- those Renaultsport engineers are goooood at their jobs. I own this version of BRZ. It's also less than half the price of the Alpine in my market. And it is a brilliant driver's car. Simple fun, not trying to show off with big numbers, just focused on providing lots of engagement and communication
Japanese representative should've been the MX-5 miata nd in my opinion, it's a two seater also, shares the same lightweight philosophy and is the closest for being front-mid engined car. Also the new ~180hp Miata is closer age-wise.. BRZ/86 seem to be on their last breath before a major update.
nice to see subs of this review, the brz/86 has room for improvement, but keeping the price low and popularizing driving pleasure at an entry level plays a big part in the car. Very excited to see the 2nd gen 86 next year.
I really enjoyed seeing these near perfect RWD machines driven to the limit. You guys should test the Alpine A110 S as it has 50% stiffer springs, 100% stiffer anti-roll bars, sits 4mm lower, 320mm discs and an extra 40bhp. So it loses some of the playfulness and suppleness of the chassis but should be even more sharper and better for the track :) 🇫🇷🇯🇵❤

Renault Alpine A110 has a superb design. And a very good engine and gearbox.

The real rivals for an Alpine are Porsche 718 Cayman and Alfa 4C.
