  • Merida is the capital and largest city of the Mexican state of Yucatán, as well as the name of the surrounding municipality, with a population of 812,191 people.
    It's one of the safest cities in Mexico according to various crime statistics, and living here is very laid back and comfortable.
    The city is notable for its traditional architecture and narrow cobblestone streets. The center is filled with colonial-era buildings constructed at the time when Mérida was a trade hub in the country. The municipal market is one of the largest in Mexico and was officially inaugurated in 1919.
    Plus- the Yucatan has some of the most interesting food and dishes dating back to pre-Hispanic times. So if you're a foodie, living in Merida will please your tastebuds.
    We love that you have some of the nicest beaches only 40 minutes away. You have access to top-notch medical care. And you have a great international airport in the city.
    These are some of the reasons we recommend living in Merida whether you are looking to #retireinmexico or #movetomexico with young kids. Merida has something for everyone!
    What are you waiting for? Visit #Merida today!

      Or you could always get a flight back to San Diego once a month too 😉

    I'm looking to move there this Fall for 5-6 months. I'll probably just get an AIRBNB for starters but would like to find a place for the remainder of my stay.

    I’m just starting to research the possibility of living in Mexico. Is it as safe on the outskirts of Merida? Those prices are a bit high for me, and I don’t necessarily want to be in the center. It would be a little cheaper outside of the center, right? And could you find places with good private views, and maybe a little yard?

    • @MexicoRelocationGuide
      @MexicoRelocationGuide  2 роки тому +6

      Yes def the further you get from Centro or any big subdivisions the better prices you’ll find

    This is wonderful. I am a Navy Retiree who is planning to relocate to Merida by December, 2023. My current housing budget is $900-$1000 UDS.

    • @MexicoRelocationGuide
      @MexicoRelocationGuide  10 місяців тому

      That is a reasonable housing budget for sure. But the main deciding factor will be which area of Merida you end up choosing- centro tends to be more competitive

    I would like to chat with you folks. I love the videos. VERY informative. I wonder if you've considered producing your shows like a television show? I would love to offer my services. I work 4 months of the year in Alaska, I spend the other 8 months working in the television industry. I am making my move to Mexico this September/October, after my Summer season in Alaska. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I may have a lot more free time, since my expenses will be so much lower. Either way, lets chat.

    • @MexicoRelocationGuide

      No- you must have Mexican auto insurance if you plan to drive your car in Mexico. And yes, some insurance companies have Mexico as a country they cover. You'd have to check with your carrier.

      Nothing changes for SSDI or SS, especially if you keep your bank in the US. SS will deposit in some foreign banks, too.
