Great idea to take us with you go for a walk in "el Centro". It feels like actually being there. Keep up the good job!!!
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!
Jose, I always watch your vids but never comment. Just wanted to let u know I love your videos. This was my favorite walk around town video you’ve done. It really felt like I was along with you on a tour of the city. Keep up the great content brother. I too am a first generation Cuban-American raised in Miami and in his 40’s.
Awesome brother! Thanks for the feedback! Also love your sandwiches btw 😅
Hola mi amigo 👋👋🙏 hope you and your family are doing well 🥰
Muchas gracias for sharing your time with us 2 Canadians 🇨🇦 living in Mexico Yucatan Peninsula ✌️🐶🙏
Hola! No worries! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great video about daily shopping in Mexico. Reminds me of Centro in Monterrey, NL. EXPATS should experience shopping in this type of environment. I agree wit you, I feel very safe shopping at the Centros
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing your Merida, El Centro experience. I love all the little shops and the variety they offer. One thing I noticed is there’s no trash in the streets like by the curbs or sidewalks. This is amazing to me with so many people sharing small sidewalks. The older, authentic part of the city is much more desirable to me me than a mall. If I wanted to live in a modern condo or go to a super mall, I’d stay in the US.
Great observation! Reason things are so clean is because most people pick after themselves, but also there are tons of street sweepers walking around most downtown areas in Mexico and they make sure to clean up whatever is actually left behind by others. If you think Merida is clean you should also check out some of the other big major cities in Mexico. Its incredible how clean they always keep everything!
Even the malls in Mexico are a lot better ,what I mean is like there’s so much to see and eat really good food,it’s just different than the USA
Thanks Jose for being a pioneer for all of us
Your very welcome!
This is a great walk in with you and your wife it's like I am there with you guys thanks again great video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
There is something romantic about living in Merida. Beautiful Video.
I agree! Viva Merida!
I really enjoy the walking tour and of course the beautiful Christian is easy on the eyes :) Thanks for sharing this interesting video... I had no idea Merida was such an old City! Historical stuff always peaks my interest as well... Nice work!
Glad you enjoyed it! I need to make more videos like this soon
Thanks for sharing this, Jose! When my husband and I were in PV for our honeymoon, we took a "wrong" turn and ended up in an area that looked like this. I speak enough Spanish to get by though, so we enjoyed the experience. And I felt safe. Overall, it was just less touristy. I noticed lots of Mexicans walking to work, grabbing cheap food, and just generally running errands. Definitely a different vibe than the touristy streets and things were noticeably cheaper.
That is awesome! Glad you got to experience a bit of true Mexico while you were out here! Thanks for sharing!
0:17 into this and I already like it. More please!
Sounds good!
Hey, I'm watching your videos all the way from Yuma Az, actually a small town of wellton, but I'm concidering going to scope it all out , I'm retired and Mexican my self , I'll continue watching, I speak fluent Spanish too. Love your videos
Give a shout-out to wellton for me.
That's Awesome brother! Thanks for sharing! Saludos!
Cool video! Thanks for sharing 😊😊
Anytime! Glad you enjoyed it!
Mexico is quite similar to Brasil , where i went on holiday many times from N.L. europe , and i live with my brazilian 5:00 wife in my country now .
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the tour!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you for the kind words! Time flies when you're having fun!
@@JoseArteagaTravels thats why im aged
I love El Centro...lot's of places and things to do..!
Me too! One of my favorite places in the city for sure!
Jose & Christien give yourselves an award for great video & content.
I'm retired & living in B.C Canada rite now, however I'm
seriously considering moving to Merida for many reasons.
What I noticed in Merida from your videos, there are
NO! VEHICAL PARKING METORS unlike here in B.C Canada,
there everywhere even in the public parks.
That's a great observation! lol I think the last time I saw a parking meter was about 5 years ago when I was in L.A. Yeah I have to see one in all of Mexico. I wonder if they even exist out here? Thanks for sharing! and Thanks for the Kind words!
I really enjoyed the tour. I'm going to Huatulco this year and would defiantely choose el Centro over an overpriced mall anytime. I also appreciate the commentary and useful advice. All the best from Germany and keep up the good work, Jose.
Awesome! Thank you for sharing!
Nice drone work as well!
Thank you! Too bad I dont have one anymore! I sure miss it!
Thanks for the video! It reminds me a lot of Ukrainian markets, kinda nostalgic feeling when I was a kid I got so exited to go there with my parents because I wanted ALL those stuffs! Especially toys from the flea market :)
(ah those memories when you are standing on a piece of box paper under a "curtain" that the lady is holding, so you can try those pants mom wanted to buy you for school😭)
And then we went to buy a lot of fresh fruits and veggies !and sweets of course! tasty meats and cheese, freshly baked bread and butter from this place to finally have a nice dinner 😋
Awesome! How interesting how so many of these markets are actually the norm around the world. Thank you for sharing!
Have been to Merida twice and, oh baby Jesus, it is soooo hot.
Very Hot! Not for everyone!
Awesome video! I love shopping though lol El centro looks really cool! Whats the quality like in their clothes, like an average pair of jeans? Do they have a lot of cotton or breathable t-shirts for hot weather?
Depends They have great quality items and not so great! Thats the beauty of shopping you get to dig around and find amazing deals! But yes long story short they have just about everything. Sorry im not much of an expert in the cloths department
so true
😎
Reminds me of Logan Square in Chicago in the 70s
Awesome!
In a good way
Hola! Learned of you through your Tangerine interview! I came to Mexico 3/1/22 so a little over a year now. Settled in San Miguel de Allende for now. Good luck with your channel! Wanted to help you make 10k! Off to check your content!
Welcome abroad! Hope you enjoy the channel! Saludos y Viva Mexico!
I don't know how I missed this one! Great walk around video! So in terms of sizing that you mentioned, What size is your shirt in US size verses Mexican size? I guess what I am asking is if I wear a size Large or X-Large in the US would that same sizing be the same in Merida? and Shoes.. lets say I wear a US size 10... is the number size different or just not available in larger sizes?
Sizes are Different out here. An X-Large from the US is too big on me and an X-Large here is too small sometimes. Finding cloths is a challenge.
Can u recommend a bed and breakfast near Centro ?
Great video . I'm tired trying to keep up with Christian:)
Ha! Yeah I actually knew of a couple places but sadly they are no longer there. I need to go and find some new ones!
Are the pay bathrooms clean and private? I don't remember seeing those when I was there.
Great Question! Clean it depends on location, Private yes mostly, and lastly none of those have toilet seats. But basically in case of Emergency they have them. Also if you dont like those restrooms you can always find a fancy department store like SEARS that will have clean and Free bathrooms, but still no toilet seats in most locations when in public
“I Digress” is your favorite phrase. 😂
Long story short you might be right!
🤣🤣
How much a regular home visit in Merida? Do you know any realtor there? Thanks for sharing the video ❤
You can watch this video for more information ua-cam.com/video/hSaGVFFIruE/v-deo.html
Hey comment for the algorithms,,😉
Thanks!
Great stuff as always. Have you heard any comparisons between Mexico and Nicaragua?
Thank you! Yes Mexico is much better, but thats all i know 😅
@@JoseArteagaTravels lolll. Word. We will be visiting one of the two around the end of the month and its still a toss up for now.
@@toddmaek5436 From my understanding Nicaragua is a bit more hardcore in comparison to Mexico where things are a lot more developed. No matter where you go hope you guys have a fun trip! Safe travels!
@@JoseArteagaTravels understood. Peace and thanks
Mexico has no comparison
How do I find this area when we move Merida? I already know I will be obsessed and my husband will hate me for it lol
This area is Called El Centro it is right in the middle of the city, 1 block down from the main town square right in the middle of the city.
Nice vid, man! 😉p.s. so I guess for shoes size 12 or 13, only online, yeah? 😅
Yeah i usually just have family bring me shoes 😅 lol
José, is there banking on line in Merida?
Yes there is
Yep didn't you the line on the street they were banking on line lol
Great video as usual. Just curious do you know any afro Latinos or just black people? I'm wondering if there's a big enough community for the barbers and beauticians to know how to do our textured hair
Great question! There is actually a large Black community out here but I honestly have no idea about the hair situation. Im sure if you do a little digging in the local Facebook groups you can find exactly what you are looking for.
@@JoseArteagaTravels
Thanks. I will definitely look more into Facebook. It would be awesome if you could do a video on black people that moved to Mexico and those that are Afro Latinos decent.
I enjoy watching your show because I plan to retire in Ziah....but what is up with all the face coverings? I will NOT wear it. ( cant wear it ) Thank you for all you do, Lin.
Thank you! Thanks for sharing! Here is a video I made on the face situation ua-cam.com/video/0P540uW8GBc/v-deo.html
Why the mechanic coveralls bro you trying to be Michael Myers for Halloween
Yes lol also to work on the truck. I already found out the hard way I need to have one lol 😅
early video people looked happier more relaxed less stress:(
Great observation! I didn't even notice!
@@JoseArteagaTravels y they wearin' facials for. dont thy know its over.
And guess what I saw a Squierrel for the first time ever...!
Awesome!
HOLA!! 🖐 Expect more Canadians coming to Mexico, our dearest leader is threatening Canadians with more lockdowns again! 🤦♂️
No Worries! Mexico has the red carpet rolled out for you guys already!
What city is this?
Merida Yucatan Mexico
Would it be strange/unsafe for a woman to be jogging/running (for exercise) by herself in Merida?
Not strange at all I see it all the time!
I lived in Merida for eight years, just got back to Canada the 11th of September 2023, I practically run away.
My stepson he'd been stealing from me.
I found nothing but thieves and scammers.
The city has nothing to offer, if you aren't from there, prices go up, the double or more.
I coud write a book.
I'm done with Mexico, not to ever go back.
Get the heck out of there!!
Sorry to hear that, thanks for sharing
So, is your wife Mexican native or is she also from the US like you are ?
She is born and raised in the Yucatan
My wife and I are considering moving to Mexico with our kids, we are basically being evacuated from our home because we live near the Ohio chemical spill. We have about 30k to come out with and we're hoping it's enough to get started in a little house and pay for food until we find work. I wanted to ask you if you think that is enough to get started and if it's easy to find work as an American in Mexico?
So sorry to hear about your situation. Our hearts go out to you guys. Short Answer yes it is plenty of money to get started. As for finding work in Mexico that gets more tricky and it is often best to just work online or start your own business out here. I go more in depth on these questions in many of my videos, or if you prefer you can book an online consultation with me and I can answer everything more in depth in person on a zoom call. You can go to my website for more information you seek and if you decide to book a consultation there is info on that as well. www.josearteaga.com/ Good luck with everything!
@@JoseArteagaTravels thank you, we actually binged watched your videos yesterday and they have been very helpful. Thanks alot! We're going to try and catch you on your live today. Just so much going on right now it's crazy.
You can't get hired unless you have a sponsored work Visa or Temporary Residence Visa.Wages are profoundly low compared to US too.If you can work online and be paid direct deposit into US account you'll be ok.
no one is Mexico City wears their backpack on the front.
In some areas they do especially when riding on the Metro
@Jose Arteaga Travels I've been riding on the metro for over a month straight and I have not seen it personally.
Are people still wearing mask?
Yeah there a few cling ons still wearing it. That's how it goes living in a Free country. You have to live and let live. During the pandemic no one ever bothered me for NOT wearing it. So now we must be respectful of those who still choose to wear it
Okay you lost me at homeopathic.
Hopefully the search party was able to find you again
You voice and cadence remind me of Mike Lindell. Da Bears.
Thanks for the kind words! Don't know who that is but I'm sure it is a great man. There is no way some random comment on youtube could be any kind of insult so i will take it as a compliment. Thanks for watching! 😅
There is a story about Merida (why it is so safe) it is where the cartels family live so it is kept free of drugs and crime you can walk the streets at night there is no rape or robberys I lived in Merida since 2005 and love it learn Spanish and you will love it
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
