I've got all of my dad's old super takumar glass. I love looking through the same glass that he did 60years ago. Focusing makes you stop and think about the shot. Beautiful times. 🙏
Found this lens in a thrift store for $20. I already had the Super Takumar 50mm 1.4 8 Elements lens. So I knew exactly what this was when I saw it. Nice little lens great build, smooth rings. I like that its so compact and lightweight plus the look of it is timeless.
Lucky! I had to purchase one from ebay and ended up paying £92 for an excellent condition one, but it had some accessories with it (square metal lens hood, leather case for lens, leather case for the lens hood). Bit more than I would want to pay but still not too bad.
I had the 105mm, and the 50 mm Macro, I just bought the 28mm, cause I love the look so much. From your pics and videos, it really delivers beautiful results.
Thanks, I also have the 24mm f3.5, I actually have 2, one got haze... but I have never seen the square hood, let me try to search for one, thanks for the recommendation!
@@kenyudoit Aside from the 28, I'm loving the 24, 135 & 85 (in that order). The 50 is great I just hate the yellow cast... And it's pretty soft wide open (as is the 35).
I just got this lens in a cheap collection of lenses and I really like it... it's sharp (particularly in the middle), small, light, built like a tank and just a joy to use on my A7r2... set it to f/8 infinity and pretty much everything in a normal shot is in focus... super fun lens!
I had exact lens, mint condition but I leave it and collected dust for years as I used mft system, f3.5 with 2times crop factor not interested me. After get an old fuji xt1, I looking for some one who used this lens on UA-cam. Then I found you. Very helpful and encouraging me to give the lens a try. I was amazed how good it is. It is shaft and pleasing blur background in fuji, which I can’t get in mft. With Fuji the focus peaking also make it more useful. Bros, thank for the review. A subscription from Vietnam.
I own and use the following 28mm lenses for full-frame cameras: 28mm f/2.8 Nikkor 28mm f/3.5 Pentax Takumar 28mm f/2 Zeiss Distagon 28mm f/2.8 Zeiss Biogon When I performed a comparison test, I was surprised that at the same apertures, there was little difference in image quality.
@@kenyudoit I really do not have a favorite because each 28mm lens is used for different reasons. 28mm f/2.8 Nikkor -- used primarily in 14/28/55mm lens kit for landscape and nature photography. I also use this lens as a standard by which all other 28mm lenses are judged. 28mm f/4 Nikkor Perspective Control -- used primarily for architectural photography 28mm f/3.5 Nikkor pre-AI - used only for close-up and macro photography. Has a BR-2 adapter on the front of lens so the lens can be attached in reverse position on a bellows. Has a BR-3 adapter on the rear of the lens to allow filters or slide copy unit to be attached to the reversed lens. 28mm f/3.5 Pentax Takumar -- used in 28/50/105mm Takumar kit for shooting live stage performances. The 8-element 50mm f/1.4 M42 screw-mount lens is my personal favorite 50mm. 28mm f/2 Zeiss Distagon -- used as a normal lens on APS-C digital cameras. Since my lens is a Nikon F-mount, I can use it on my Fuji S5 Pro digital SLR without an adapter. I must use a Nikon to Fuji X adapter to mount it on my Fuji X-Pro1 and X-Pro2 mirrorless digital bodies. 28mm f/2.8 Zeiss Biogon -- used in 21/28/90mm kit on Contax G1 rangefinder when shooting vacation/travel landscapes 28mm f/2.5 Vivitar - used in an expendable/low-cost 28/50/100mm lens kit on a Nikon EM, N70, or N2000 body when I need to shoot in a hostile environment where the equipment is likely to be lost, stolen, or damaged.
mine moves when it is mounted on the adapter, I've heard you shouldn't try to move the auto/manual tab when it is not mounted because it is related to the pin at the back of the lens. But for me, who is shooting it on a digital camera the auto function has no use anyways, as long as the aperture is still controllable then you will be okay.
@@film.fiasco haha I believe you will get the correct one, i have the 55mm f2 and I am very happy with it, although the flare is not as nice as the 50mm f1.4, enjoy your lens!
So, Amazon Japan did not help your friend??? That is not good. Contact them again and make an official complain. Is it so that they did not find the seller anymore?

You can't go wrong with any Takumar, even if it's only f3.5 :)
Yes Takumar is really good 😆

Lovely! The 24mm f/3.5 is also an unexpected gem!! It comes with a really funky square hood!

I have the 135 and 200mm Takumar. Great lenses! Gotta get one of these too!
I recently got my hands on a 105mm early version, i was choosing between this and the 135, got the 105 because of the look, video coming soon!
I have this lens. It's my favourite old Pentax lens. It's simply gorgeous and special.

does the auto/manual focus ring move? because I have one that but this ring is locked and I wanted to know if it was a defect or is it made that way

I feel terrible for your friend, to be honest, but it is undeniable that the lens is excellent too!
He sold it and split even, and he found the real 50mm f1.4 very soon after that
