I love flare! Its a characteristic that some dont understand or know how to use. Photography is writing with light! Bokeh. Vignetting. Depth of Field sharpness. And with your video:Flare!
Couldn't agree more!
Super Takumar 50mm 1.4 is my favorite 🥰
Incredible production! Love the characteristics of vintage glass.
Thank you Andrew! Glad you liked it ✌️
Well now I’m going to pick one up. I’ve heard of these but never really looked into them. Thank you for such a great video !
Thank your for the kind words Neil! I hope it will serve you well 🙌
very cool video! love the music and title screens
Glad you liked it! 🙌
Wow, a video of this quality deserves a subscription, keep it going!
Thanks a lot! And welcome! 🙌
SMC Pentax "K" are my favorites. 90% of Taks character with very fast desings. 4/20, 2.8/24, the great Hollywood 2/28, 2/35 (non radioactive Tak), 1.2/50, 1,8/85 (idem 35).
That is the real most underrated and unknown lens set.
Sounds very interesting. Gotta check those out!
have you compared the 85 1.9 Super Takumar to Pentax k 85mm 1.9?
@@r.d.fodrek I have used both, but have not compared them directly. In fact the 1.9 only for still photos. The early takumars are much more vintage than the SMC or the Pentax K (which are a mix of the best takumar designs, with Contax fast angles). In fact the 1.9 is based on an 83mm f1.9 with an M37 mount. After 1.8, I know that there are 2 different optical design versions. Perhaps the difference is comparable to what you would find in a Canon FL versus a Canon FD.
Please review Pentacon 2.8/29mm, ultra low-budget swirly bokeh
I want to hear the opinion of someone that doesn't care about test charts!

Super cool lenses, I believe the yellow flares and amazing character has something to do with the way they were made, these lenses have a form of radium in the glass that give that look. it also means that they are slightly radioactive. love the video.
Glad you enjoyed the video. 🙌 Good comment on the character of the Takumar lenses! That being said, people don't need to worry about radioactivity of the 28mm, many people have tested it and it turns out to be harmless. 😌
Great video! Love the Taks. That font you used is incredible, which one is it?
Thank you Caleb! The font is called Bee four. ✌️
@@MarcelGlas you’re welcome and cool! Thanks
love the look so much! great video 🔥
Great look for a great music video 🙌😌
Great work! Love it!
Glad you liked it 🙌
Beautiful work!
Thanks a lot man!
yes! the super takumar lenses are beautiful! i fell in love with a 135mm f3.5 silver edition that my dad has, its awesome for portraits, i stop using it on sessions cause i dont wanna damage it more , i bought the 50mm 1.4 and maaaaan, its awsome! this lives on my camera. and also can´t wait to make myself a collection of all takumars!
A collection sounds like an awesome idea!
Very nice video, with an amazing message ❤
Thank you so much Pedro!
Lovely vid. Thank You for sharing. I use them (Super Takumar, 8 blades version 50mm), I love it. Greetings from Belgium. I will now search for à 28mm due your lovely video.
Glad that you enjoyed it Marc. I think it will serve you well!
The Taks definitely have some of the best flares and color of vintage glass. The version one 28mm is even cooler. It’s a larger lens with a bigger concave front element.
Have to check this one out as it seems! 🙌
Love my 28mm tak. Lightweight, it is build like a tank and beautiful character.
100% agreed!
Production quality is absolutely astonishing.
I've rewatched many of your videos over and over again, can't wait to see more from you.
Thank you so much Christopher! Means a lot to hear something like that! 🙌
totally agree!!! another review class
@@tripleteam21 Thanks a lot friend!
Hey man great video! I gotta ask, where do you get your fonts used in this?
Hey Paul, much appreciated. The main font is called Bee four and can be licensed online or if you have an Adobe subscription.
Wow great video! I have the same lens, but I should use it more often
Glad you enjoyed the video! Sometimes we need to push ourselves a bit to create our best work 🙌
Outstanding work. Nicely done. You must experiment with the 55 f/1.8 or f/2, 24mm and of course the 50mm... "Super taks" Exquisite and magical flaring and sharp enough wide open. Looking forward to seeing more of your work...
Thanks man! I'll definitely have a look at those 🙌
Takumars are fantastic! This was the first lens I bought, I now have a somewhat full set with
17mm fisheye F4
28mm F3.5
35mm F2
55mm F1.8
85mm F1.9
Very cool! Do you have a favorite?
Super Takumar + Helios= epic combo 🚀🚀🚀🥵🥵🥵🥵
how has the result been, in terms of matching the footage?
I’ve got the 55 1.4 and am looking at the 28 to put in a collection of old Praktica cameras.
I'd say you can't go wrong with picking one up for yourself. It's fairly cheap and the look in undeniably unique as you'll know from your 55mm f/1.4 🙌
Bit offtopic but what Font are you using on the Chapter title cards?
It's called Bee four and slightly altered by hand. ✌️
Great Video
Thanks a lot! 🙌
In my opinion, Asahi Pentax Takumar lenses are underrated and undervalued. The 8-element 50mm and the 105mm are my personal favorites.
I own and use the following:
Asahi 35mm f/3.5 Super Takumar (49mm filter)
Asahi 50mm f/1.4 Super Takumar (8-element) (49mm filter)
Asahi 50mm f/1.4 Super Takumar (7-element) (49mm filter)
Asahi 105mm f/2.8 Super Takumar (49mm filter)
Asahi 135mm f/3.5 Super Takumar (49mm filter)
Asahi 200mm f/5.6 Super Takumar (49mm filter)
Asahi 300mm f/6.3 preset Tele Takumar (58mm filter)
Very impressive collection! I completely agree with your statement. Do you see a significant difference between the 8-element and 7-element 50mm?
@@MarcelGlas
The 8-element had a reputation for being one of the best 50mm f/1.4 lenses ever made. Its image quality competed with Leica and Zeiss.
I was so impressed with the 8-element lens that when I bought my Leica rangefinder, I never bought a 50mm lens for it. Also, when Nikon became my system 35mm camera, for years I delayed buying a 50mm lens for it because the 8-element Takumar had set a high standard for image quality.
The 7-element version was a very good lens but was not as good as the 8-element version. One major problem with the 7-element lens is that it had a radioactive lens element that gradually turned yellow over time. The 8-element was not radioactive and did not turn yellow.
@@Narsuitus Damn that sounds great. I'm guessing nowadays you'd pay a premium for the 8-element version?
@@MarcelGlas
I do not know what the current prices are; but when I bought mine, the 8-element was twice the price of the 7-element.
@@Narsuitus Good to know. Thanks a lot for the insights!
I’ve got a set of Super Multi-Coated Takumar’s 24mm, 35mm, 55mm, 135mm. Sure they aren’t “fast” but films don’t look good (IMO) when always shot at F1.4, most films sit around F4-F5.6.
Exactly! That's a great collection, you've got there 👌
bro how you did text effect plus which font?
Do Takumars lens cover full frame?
This one does! I think most of them do actually.
@@MarcelGlas I don't know enough about the Takumars. I have the Helios, Canon FDs and Carl Zeiss lenses all cover full frame. I wanted a Pentax 35mm macro but later I learned only 4 Pentax cover full frame. then I noticed Takumars but can't find anything on close focus distance or full Frame coverage which are things i consider in a lens.
@@Diminish12 Any specific ones you're looking at or are you trying to build a set?
The takumars were made for 35mm film photography so yes they'll cover FF
how did you get this glowing read title?
I do most of my graphics and titles in Photoshop and then drag them into Resolve. Simple gaussian blur on the font.
why i'm thinking of werner herzog young when you speak ^^
Probably because we're from the same country and it's quite hard to shake that accent. :D
0:29 lmao, idk why, i thought those were breadsticks on the backpack
Actually, you're correct 🙌😂
Did you color grade or color correct ?
Hey there, I always color grade the footage. If you're specifically asking about the comparison to the modern lens, I did a rough color correction to match both. The Super Takumar renders everything a bit cooler than the Tamron.
so just simple adjustments in contrast and saturation ?@@MarcelGlas
@@moviemarathon1680 The color matching between the vintage lens and the modern one was mostly done with an adjustment to the temperature and tint. My coloring workflow, on the other hand, the get the footage looking the way it does is quite extensive.
