    In 1992 I had a convertible 64 impala. It was a complete rust bucket. My father in law was a body man who helped me body work and paint it. The thing had bondo all over it. Anyway, I had the hydraulics installed at speaker works in Hialeah fl. Speaker works was red's hydraulics before it was officially red's hydraulics. I also bought my first set of Dayton wire wheels from them used. They took the rims off of the " flamingo " hopper. 4 pump 8 batteries. I was 17 years old and it was the time of my life. Still lowriding today at 48. Only difference now is I build my own stuff.
    Enjoy your content man. Good stuff keep it up and good luck with the channel

    I appreciate this video. I love going into the history of lowriders.
    I can COMPLETELY relate to you, from ahe 14-19, I ate, drank and slept lowriders. Now I'm 32 and for the last 2 years I've had a massive itch.
    I'm proud of the 60s-90s hydraulic companies because they were constantly innovating. I have become disenfranchised with the modern hydraulic companies. There hasn't been any game changing products to hit the market and everyone sells the same products.
    I am in the process of launching my own line of hydraulic products. I've actually already built a few prototype pumps. They should be about 4 times more powerful than what is currently available. I'm also developing a dump that will operate just like an adex, but will be a fraction of the cost. It will not be an adex clone it will just perform better than an adex for around $400. I just am figuring out what kinds of parts I would want, and figure other people must also want them. I'm still about a year away. Here's the deal, up until this point, every hydraulic pump in a lowrider was engineered for going in a lowrider. They were engineered for aircrafts and lift gates. Same with dumps, delta makes industrial cartridge style solenoid valves. Adexes, as bad ass as they are, they were built years before lowriding was a thing, they were made for aircraft. I am designing products from the ground up that are built for 1 single purpose, LOWRIDING without compromises.

      @@gemcitywelding7234 Thanks. Be on the look out for Airborne Hydraulics.
      My motors have dual sets of brushes internal fans and massive ventilation and I got different size motors, my mack daddy motor make close to 10hp and powers a #16-#17 pump head. The pump and the gear are massive. It's kind of like an aircraft pump as opposed to a modern hydraulic, by which I mean it requires an external reservoir. I didn't like how modern lowrider lift gate pumps have a small 1/4" pressure port hole feeing into the block, some blocks are 3/4-1" it makes no sense to feed a 1" pressure port on the block from a small little hole in the pump head. Seems like a choke point. So my pumps have a 1" inlet and 3/4" outlet. If there weren't gears in there you could stick your finger straight through the gear. No choke point.
      I'm building a 96 Town Car as test vehicle and a rolling advertisement. I'll probably make a video covering the build when I start on it.

    I remember when I got my first 100 subs I was surprised people were watching my poor quality and amateur edited videos then I got 1000. About 2 yrs later. It's really hard to grow a channel that is geared towards lowriding. It's just a very small niche. My first setup was a reds 2 pumper with the clear motor end caps. And it had 1/4 inch plumbing with the weenie slow downs built into the dumps what a terrible design. But it worked. I used to go thru dump cartridges all the time. I've learned so much since them days and spent way to much money along the way

      You’re 100% correct. But I’m thankful people watch the videos. I’m trying to get better at the production side of things. Like Cletus McFarland said, “ everyone wants to be a UA-camr until it’s time to edit” I remember those clear caps!!! I thought they were so trick. Ahh the good old days. 👊🏻

Mr Impala was also on king of chevys but they didn't talk a whole lot on history of hydraulics. NYR, lol yes I watch all of your videos to the end. You have some great content on here. I'd like to get another G body, but still looking. And as far as the hydraulics, you blew my mind when I saw those old school blocks / motors / dumps. I wish I had all of the sets I got rid of. Or chunked for new setups. I ran Red's hydraulics, then I believe CCE In my Caprice. Been a long time to try and remember all that. I do have a steel block from the 70's or 80's. And Fenner motors, black and gold. Still have my external Delta dumps for hopping. And all this time I thought I was the only one holding onto the old school stuff when I started buying it up as I could. I miss those days brother. Thanks again for jolting me back to the present lol. And don't stop with the end of the video stuff. Keep up the great work sir, I'm trying to catch up on your videos, peace

    I'm working on a 84 LeSabre out of Dayton well my question is on reinforcing the frame do I wrap the engine belly all the way I have the engine out now And do I use 3/16 all over it and how far should I extend my a arms friends and mentors welcome

    • @gemcitywelding7234
      @gemcitywelding7234  8 місяців тому +1

      Great question! My honest answer is it would depend on what your plans are with the car. Is it strictly a lay n play street car or do you have plans to hop the car? 3/16 is always recommended, but it’s not uncommon to see 1/8 to mold out the framework. On the arms, I would suggest 1” to 1 1/2”. Anymore than that and you could run into steering issues. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching the show.

      Lay and play mostly but I'd like to hop just for fun now and then nothing crazy

    • @gemcitywelding7234
      @gemcitywelding7234  Рік тому

      Hey bro, great question! Early fennerstone pumps use a very specific type of gasket inside the pump head, it’s almost like a Teflon seal. Also pull the tanks off and see if they have magnets on the inside of the tanks. Magnets are there to catch metal shavings and prevent them from going and recirculating back into the pump head. Before putting any pump into service especially one that is as old as a Fenner pump make sure that if it’s running an external check valve that it’s going in the correct direction. Some thinners have internal check valves. Some have been modified to accept an external check valve. Those are just a few of the things that I would look for if it was me personally. Congrats on your new purchases. Best of luck.
