@tammylewis2408 Nixon turned out be very stupid , however , he wasn't a damaging President like Wilson , LBJ , or even the every awful , FDR , who was horrifically damaging , extending WW2 by waiting to get involved and don't even get me started with Social Security.
I'm surprised that no one commented that her last name" Kitt " reminds us of Kitten or Kitty and it wasn't a Batman gag. Also she played in five Batman episodes, and this says a lot because the public saw Halle Berry play Catwoman only once and said, "Please, no more!"
In my opinion, watching the show growing up, I thought Eartha Kitt was the best Catwoman in series. She hard much more presence than the talented Mrs Newmar.
Eartha Kitt was also in Mission Impossible' s first season for one episode. She was selected for the mission for her small stature. Which was ideal for crawling around in the heating ductwork.
Yes! I remember!! Too bad that she never did an episode of Star Trek!! She was talented, funny as hell and beautiful!! In that M.I. episode, she really showed off her incredible athletic skills. My understanding is that in her young days, she did A LOT of Ballet and Gymnastics!
Eartha Kitt was THE Catwoman. Julie Newmar's version was more comedic. Miss Kitt's version had a sexy dangerousness that even six or seven year old me could feel radiating from the cathode-ray tube. So if what I saw was a toned-down version of her sexiness ... wow. America might not have been able to handle the full, unconstrained, uninhibited Eartha Kitt sexiness back then. No wonder her star shined brightest in France where they could handle that sort of thing better.
Eartha Kitt was soo strong. Love her. I love sooo much that you gave “the rest of the story”. I am a 90’s kids so I will always remember her on Living single.
I met Eartha once and had a few minutes with her after her show at the Hilton in Brisbane. I got her autograph, she was so warm and friendly almost a bit shy, nothing like her stage characters. Such a trail blazer and so incredibly unique and she worked very hard and to confront the President in the 60s so brave. Great video 😊
I like what both actors brought to the Catwoman role. Kitt physically fit the persona of a cat better, though. I don't think of them as the same character. In some ways, I'd like to have seen the Kitt character have the same attraction for Batman as Newmar's. The other side of me champions Kitt's independence. Being a woman doesn't have to mean you always have to be trying to find a match to complete you. The Riddler, Penguin, and Joker didn't.
The question is did the CIA admit to operation mockingbird before or after the media went after Eartha for asking Johnson the hard questions. I also think most of the prejudice is from Hollywood and projected/blamed on us normies.
Eartha Kitt was one of many celebrities speaking out against the Vietnam War. Yet, she was blacklisted for her views, unlike John Lennon, who also spoke out and yet had entertainers and actors coming to his defense despite Nixon trying to prevent him from becoming a US citizen---where in the HELL were they when she was blacklisted, they should have come to HER defense as well.

Yes, Dave freedom of speech is wonderful and a right... Like you mentioned in the presentation; I myself have never understood this construct held by some people that if you're a public figure, an athlete, a film actor, or television personality somehow they aren't supposed to have an opinion which they should verbalize publicly. That is something which has always amazed me.🤔
It's because a lot of celebrities (I'm not referring to Kitt here) are ill-informed about issues and just repeat what they've been told without doing any research.
The problem about saying whether or not someone is "ill-informed" is that determining what is factual or not can be a pretty tricky task. Especially these days.
@jdsundstrom My perception is/would be that Ms. Kitt was well informed about the specific subject matter of which she was discussing... I believe that sometimes - or often, people in power who are being spoken to on a particular subject are in actuality quite concerned about the impact of the statements the well-known person is saying and the reach the statements; especially when the person being spoken to disagree with the statements the well-known person is expounding upon.
I used to think Newmar was the ultimate Catwoman, but I've really come around to Kitt. I actually think she was better.....and the best....until Michelle Pfeiffer. Pfeiffer was just plain deranged.
Ah, Eartha Kitt. A gorgeous Catwoman! Dave, I wanted to wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas! Here in Montana, you never know if you're going to get a white Christmas or not (you could get a white Fourth of July!) but I wanted to thank you for so many years of nostalgia and the sharing of great memories. Here's to an exciting 2025! I'll make an early resolution to visit your channel more often; I keep missing the live events and I'd like to catch the next one. And thanks so much for the times you've visited my channel! Cheers!
Thanks Dave. Eartha was priceless as Catwoman. To bad they didn't work in a kiss between her and Batman, like they did with Kirk and Uhura. We all know how iconic that turned out to be... Batman missed an opportunity there...
Couple of things. Didn't Lee Meriwether do a turn as Catwoman? Also, I think Uhura's turn at the helm was a more important moment in Star Trek, although probably hardly anyone took note that she guided the Enterprise to a safe orbit once Kirk repaired the sabotage.
I liked Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt as Catwoman. If I had to pick a favorite, though, it would probably be Julie Newmar. Maybe because she was the first; but, the reason doesn't really matter since the were both really good in the role.
Okay you missed the best reason Eartha was the best Catwoman. Her name fits purrfectly, get it Kitt (ha, ha,ha). An old joke, but I still find it very funny.
I loved Julie Newmar as Catwoman, (having become a fan with My Living Doll). However, I thought Eartha Kitt was a fantastic choice and loved her in that role just as much, and that's quite an accomplishment. Of course, I was too young and "uneducated" to pay attention to someone's race back then. Here's a link to that great Christmas song you mentioned, for all to enjoy. It's one of my all-time favorites: ua-cam.com/video/Mk_GmhD053E/v-deo.html
Because she's black. It's simple anymore. How many codes are there over excluding people of color and women? A lot. Let's not forget what happened with Jack Johnson over him loving a white woman. Can we please stop asking this question. Julie Newmar was born in California which was always a free state. Eartha Kitt was born in North, South Carolina which is an Original 13 Colony.
There was actually a fourth Catwoman that appeared in the next to last episode of the series. She appeared in a jail cell with all the other villians about to be freed due to a technicality. All of them were played by extras, not the stars, and didn't speak.
SERIOUSLY?! She was by far the worst version of Catwoman until Halley Berry. Not only are you NOT getting a subscription, I am blocking your channel because of your horrible taste.
Don't worry you won't be missed AT ALL !!! I'm sure Mr. Sundstrom will not lose any sleep over you blocking his channel. In the words of MJ "Just Beat It"
I met Yvonne Craig in the early 90s and she had such kind words for Eartha Kitt and spoke so highly of her
That's so cool to hear! Thanks for sharing.
At 2:57 Dave, I hate to shock you but Eartha's Catwoman was not absolutely perfect. It was absolutely puuuuuurfect. 😼
Love it! And...you're so right!
I thought Eartha Kitt brought a superb new dynamic to Catwoman. Her sly mix of femininity and subtle menace worked flawlessly.
She truly was something special!
LBJ was one of the worst human beings ever , on par with Woodrow Wilson. These were truly awful people.
LBJ was a racist and he cheated on his wife.
Hear, hear!
No, on par with his successor Richard "I am not a crook" Nixon.
@tammylewis2408 Nixon turned out be very stupid , however , he wasn't a damaging President like Wilson , LBJ , or even the every awful , FDR , who was horrifically damaging , extending WW2 by waiting to get involved and don't even get me started with Social Security.
Almost felt like a different character. Eartha kitt's Catwoman seemed to hate Batman compared to the other two flirting with Batman.
I’m so overjoyed to see you honoring Eartha Kitt, Dave! She was an amazing Catwoman❤️!
I'm surprised that no one commented that her last name" Kitt " reminds us of Kitten or Kitty and it wasn't a Batman gag. Also she played in five Batman episodes, and this says a lot because the public saw Halle Berry play Catwoman only once and said, "Please, no more!"
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, Ghia!
Inspired of you to spotlight the "Santa Baby" singer on this special day, Dave, much app-rrrrrrrrre-ciated.
That was the idea! I'm glad you enjoyed it, WBH!
Yes love it. I turn off the version my Madonna. My favorite is Eartha.
Eartha Kitt was just perfect as Catwoman because her personality suited the role.
In my opinion, watching the show growing up, I thought Eartha Kitt was the best Catwoman in series. She hard much more presence than the talented Mrs Newmar.
I know a lot of white boys that had a crush on her! And she would do the purrr. They literally turn to mush! 😁
Ms.Eartha Kitt spoke her mind by telling the truth. Eartha is the purrfect catwoman in my book.❤❤❤❤❤😊
Eartha Kitt was also in Mission Impossible' s first season for one episode. She was selected for the mission for her small stature. Which was ideal for crawling around in the heating ductwork.

My generation, thank you for this post.
I suspect we're from the same generation, Walter. And...you're most welcome.
Merry Christmas Dave!

Eartha Kitt was amazing as Catwoman, it was one of the guilty pleasures of the 1960s.

Also, please watch her in the movie 1990’s movie Boomerang. Eartha was great in it.
Everyone was great in that movie!
Will do!
Boomerang came out in 1992.

Yes, Eartha was perrrfect in the role. It was groundbreaking as well. I imagine Hallie Barry’s was based on Eartha’s.
Happy holidays, Cindee!
You as well Dave. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Well said, John! Thanks for your support.

I liked both versions of Catwoman.
When Eartha was Catwoman it seemed like there was more of a rivalry between Catwoman and Batgirl.
I used to think Newmar was the ultimate Catwoman, but I've really come around to Kitt. I actually think she was better.....and the best....until Michelle Pfeiffer. Pfeiffer was just plain deranged.
Yep. Michelle was pretty darn awesome as well. 🙂
C'est Si Bon, Mr. Sundstrom (perhaps, with Santa Baby's help) for you posting this!!
Eartha purred her Catwoman lines
Dang! Eartha was one helluva sexy lady!!!
So very true!

@@JW...-oj5iw Lee Meriwether was in the movie.
She played a great catwoman nailed it Dave brought something different to her
Merry Christmas Dave
Merry Christmas to you as well!
I liked Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt as Catwoman. If I had to pick a favorite, though, it would probably be Julie Newmar. Maybe because she was the first; but, the reason doesn't really matter since the were both really good in the role.
Lee Meriwether was the original Catwoman.
She was THE BEST by far!!!!
Hottest Cat Woman EVER 🔥
There should have been a Catwoman show spinoff and a Batgirl series
That would have been awesome!
Julie Newmar was and will always be the best actress for that roll 🎓✌️🇺🇸
Oh as for her speaking to the president on her political interest was a brave guts
Eartha Kitt could do wrong in my eyes. Her voice & characters were so great!
Amen eartha kitt was sooo good
She had big shoes to fill and unfortunately for her Julie was larger than life in that role and had real chemistry with Adam West.
Julie Newmar was the true Catwoman.
Agreed Dave, and the politicians work for us. We should be able to ask questions of them when we are in the room with them, albeit ask respectfully.
Yep. I think sometimes they forget that they are TRULY civil servants.
R.I.P. Eartha Kitt.
She was....perrrrrrfect lol merry Christmas
Indeed! Merry Christmas, my friend!
I know not popular opinion, but honestly was never a fan of Eartha's take on Cat Woman, found her voice grating. Prefer Merriwether / Newmar
Although it may not be a popular opinion, I appreciate your willingness to share your perspective.
I loved Julie Newmar as Catwoman. I really thought Eartha Kitt was spectacular and really put a lot of herself in the part in Season 3 as Catwoman.
Okay you missed the best reason Eartha was the best Catwoman. Her name fits purrfectly, get it Kitt (ha, ha,ha). An old joke, but I still find it very funny.
She was a fine actress, but not a perfect Catwoman. That honor goes to Julie Newmar.
Have you seen Eartha act in anything else? Eartha Kitt was a Catwoman. There wasn't much acting there.
She was great in that role too, but Cat Woman was Julie Newmar.
Julie will always be my favorite as well.
Julie Newmar gave Catwoman a look. Eartha Kitt gave her a personality.
Shes was awesome

Ertha's catwoman is my favorite plus I love that she purred! Julie Newmar is my 2nd favorite.
Eartha Kitt LAWD HAVE MERCY!!! NUFF SAID!!!
"Maaarrrrcus Dahling!"
Love it! 😃
Great movie and casting!
❤
Thanks for watching!
Yeah that accent and voice made the show.
oh let’s not forget that perrrrrrrrrrrr
So she wasn't necessarily banded from Batman.
Yes, I love them both but where is Lee Mereweather??
She's on my potential topics list. 🙂
Interesting info 😊
Glad you think so!
I thought Eartha made a good Catwoman 😺
Wow that's Awesome ❤❤❤ 😮 😊 👌
I'm glad you liked it!

Goldfinger
That was Shirley Bassey that did that
@jimmiesmith5811 really? My mistake.

@@Joe_Narbaiz Marilyn Watson was Julie Newmar's stunt double.
She WAS loud, belligerent, and rude. NOT the time or the place.
You have to stand up for your beliefs! Especially against inequality and racism! True then as now
SERIOUSLY?! She was by far the worst version of Catwoman until Halley Berry. Not only are you NOT getting a subscription, I am blocking your channel because of your horrible taste.
