It’s from the movie neighbours. The johnstonii are beautiful fish. I had a sun sun that would do that also, it was building air pockets in the canister from seals or impeller not seated properly. I’ve had 406,407 fluvals before and it is a common flaw with them.
I love your tanks! I love your content! I am eyeing that Carpintis and wondering if it will work in my 210 gallon South and Central American Cichlid Tank.
He's fairly aggressive and will probably get moreso as he grows. You can always give it a try and be ready to get him outta there lol. Thanks a lot -- good to see you. I always appreciate your thoughtful comments.
Sorry I don’t mean to keep commenting but I must say your videos are great. Can you recommend a camera for me to film with? I have only used my iPhone so far and it gets annoying when they upload blurry. Thank you very much!
Thank you! I use a Canon R6 II, but you know I mostly use that for my talking head shots. For the fish I still miss my phone. It seems to focus more easily on the fish and looks fine. If you want a camera but don't want to spend over $2,000 for one, just UA-cam Think Media and their content creator camera reviews. Mirrorless is the way to go. Pay attention to autofocus, and keep in mind the lens is more important than your camera. Does that help?
David, I always love your videos. I am not going to argue what is the meanest fish between black nasty or Dovii. The only aggressive fish that I kept and couldn't keep because of the aggression is a Red Devil Cichlid. I had a female and I thought she would play nice in the tank she didn't. She would lay eggs every 3 weeks or so and she would get very mean with the eggs. She would keep everyone on one side of a tank. The last straw was when she beat up my Green Severum and he looked terrible with scratches and stuff like that. I got rid of her. I took her to a LFS so she could find a good home. The green Severum recovered tough Cichlids the Severums are. I can only imagine if a Red Devil isn't even the most aggressive fish out there what a black nasty or dovii can do. I hear flower Horns are pretty aggressive also. I don't really like flowerhorns and that deformed hump on the head. Since I have upgraded to a 5 ft tank a lot of my aggression on my CA and SA cichlids have gone down. extra foot of space helped plus i have a wave maker also in the tank. I did just get 2 Gouramis for my 55 gal Planted tank. a blue gourami and a opaline gourami. I pray they get along. they are pretty fish. Have you ever kept one?
Poor severum! I've seen videos of nasty's trying to kill the hand that feeds them and it looks like they are SUPER mean. The males do get a hump, which I'm not crazy about, but it isn't insanely large like a flower horn. I have only kept gold, pearl and some other weird one I had for a while. I like them, but I don't really have a tank setup properly for them because they love so many plants. My next video is on the new nasty tank. I'm excited to figure out if I olha e a good male in there.
@@CichlidCharmer yeah I felt so bad for him. He is a tough fish when they say Severums are hardy they are hardy and tough fish. Now I just put up with my Green terror gold saum. He is a butthead sometimes. I named him dozer because he just runs into the fish but he doesn’t really try to be to aggressive he does chase every now and then. Until my female JD gets tired of him and she puts him in his place and then he goes and pouts on the other side of the tank. So funny CA and SA cichlids are with their personality. I want a true parrot but can’t find them. I love how buck lets you feed him by hand. So cute I am not a big fan of the blood parrots. I don’t like the deformed mouth and they look like goldfish.
@@jeremymoore450 You are SO right about the personality. I think even more so than the Africans. Check out Predatory Fins for the true parrots. They seem to have them more often than other places. He is so used to hand feeding, that if I drop in smaller pellets, he just keeps looking at the top of the tank, waiting for those miraculous fingers to drop a big pellet at him.
Do you ever have a problem with getting your 407s to catch prime? I have one that had a noisy impeller, it wouldnt prime. I replaced the impeller and the shaft it rides on. Still noisy, just a different. Still wont prime.
Yes, but usually it's because the impeller needs cleaned, but you have a new one. Could there be a loose connection somewhere allowing air into the hose? Sometimes I also have to prime the heck out of it to get flow.
Where do I start...I have a 6ft 300lt tank with EB Acara and Puruvian Angels. Breeding of both, although the Devils first Spawn (see what I did there 😁) didn't survive the first 24hrs. Started with 6 Acara, now have 60. About to set up a 3ft tank (50gal) for the 5 Peacocks I have. It will be fine for these guys its taller than standard. I have 6 Apistogramma babies ... a bit going on in my fishroom. About to add an 8ft to the family 🥰
@@CichlidCharmer I do and love it all 😁 9 tanks of various size and fish types all give me pleasure to watch and interact with. Some are fun and funny, some are peaceful, some active, shrimp tank is weird and interesting. Enjoy your videos mate 👍
Would you consider putting a female black nasty into the 450, I know maybe it could cause problems but by the time the black nasty is able to be added all the other cichlids will be much bigger than it.
I have kept both Dovii and Nasties IMOE dovii when small tend to be really shy they wont come out until usually around 12-14 in range. Black Nasties on the other hand are the only cichlids in Haiti where they come from so they dont like anybody
"Neighbors" love good old SNL my family think I'm crazy in my room at night laughing out loud watching reruns. Kevin, Kevin, Kevin I really hope you spit out that fake leaf you turd bucket. I think you know all too much about all my tanks, yeah, I share maybe a bit too much. Since getting rid of Satan ManMan the Maningano life in my new 90gal State Penn is going on smoothly there is one big Blue Neon Peacock called "Big John" that really is trying to be tank boss but "Java" the Jalo Reef Afra won't have anything to do with that happening, so he puts him and all in their places to where he got to spend time out with my new "Sal" the Salvini in one of the 45gals, just the two of them to play together. Well, turns out Sal is a wimp pulled Java out and back into the 90gal with the boys and one mystery lady??? I can't figure out who is the female in the bunch so it's either the Firemouth or Jack Dempsy that was holding when I purchased them is what I came up with. Why do we have these crazy fish, hum don't say it man, don't do it, ok I'm the crazy one, great video, can't wait for Sat.
Hilarious, Polly. You have a soap opera going on in your tanks. Funny that your Sal is a wimp and mine is a benevolent boss when they have such a bad rep. Keep being crazy. Your fish need you to be lol
A Dovii cichlid is supposed to be the meanest cichlid? Maybe when they get huge but I know a 5 star general cichlid (Hemichromis elongotus) beat down a dovii cichlid in a minute battle but they were only 12 inches long. They are like a foot long jewel cichlid with a nasty attitude and fight moves like an mbuna. They can even beat up a butterkoferi cichlid which I used to think was the meanest fish I have ever seen.
I'm learning all kinds of things about mean cichlids lol. The dovii is probably up there because it's so big at two feet no one has a chance. Thanks, Benjamin!
@@CichlidCharmerI think the largest 5 star general cichlid is Hemichromis fasciatus. They are beautiful fish with a bright red belly. They look like a foot long jewel fish yet they are rare in the hobby likely due to the fact that they are so mean.
